    Attentive service and a welcoming atmosphere

    This was my first stay here in 10 years. The atmosphere and overall feel were wonderful. It was also great that the housekeeping staff greeted me with “Hello” whenever we passed each other. I ordered room service several times, and the phone staff were extremely polite and easy to understand, and the person who delivered it was very considerate as well. (When they brought the meal to the table, they moved the TV so it would be easier to see and asked if I needed anything.) It made me certain I’ll stay here again next time. Thank you very much.

    Pros and Cons of a Long-Established Hotel

    I’m a Yokohama resident, but I had never stayed at this Hotel before, so I came with my husband. The night view is beautiful, so I recommend it to visitors from outside the area. It’s about a 30-minute drive from home. The parking is not Hotel-only; it’s a public parking lot. You receive the parking service at check-out. Since we booked a Plan with Club Lounge access, we went straight to the lounge after arrival. We were shown to a window seat in a bright, open lounge, and afternoon tea was served: mini cakes, club sandwiches, shumai dumplings, and scones. The shumai were excellent. After that, we went to the pool. It was almost private as well. There was also a small bath (not a large public bath), so I took a soak. The bath is quite deep. There are two steps when you enter, but once you’re in the water there are no steps at all, which feels scary—so it’s best to sit on the edge and ease in feet first. A lady in her 70s was struggling, so I helped her by taking her arm. It may be a bit risky for elderly guests. I didn’t realize the pool seems to be charged per entry and ended up going again at night. At The Kahala Hotel last month, their spa facility was one flat fee no matter how many times you used it—I should have confirmed beforehand. The pool fee is JPY 4,400. At 5:00 pm we went back to the Club Lounge. Two plates of hors d’oeuvres were served. In addition to that, cheese, nuts, and fruit are unlimited. There are no hot items. I don’t eat much anyway—two glasses of white wine filled me up—but my husband wanted more and ordered seafood fried noodles from Karyu (JPY 2,500), which were very good. Breakfast is excellent in both quality and quantity. The Room is smaller than Kahala’s 50 m² rooms as expected, but it has the calmness and solid feel of a classic adults-only style Hotel. If you want hot food included in your evening offerings, you may not need Club Lounge access. It works if you can eat hors d’oeuvres in the lounge and still have a full meal at a restaurant afterward—but at our age that’s too much. Still, JPY 43 ,000 for two people with Club Lounge access felt reasonably priced.

    Every stay is exceptional!

    We used the club lounge again this time. We stayed with a 2-year-old and a 0-year-old, and the staff were always considerate of families with children, so we were able to enjoy our meals together and had a very comfortable stay. Everything we ate was delicious. The Japanese-style suite was spacious, and we could see the ships up close—our child loved running around and seemed to have a great time. One thing: it was difficult to adjust the shower temperature to a comfortable level. We’re looking forward to our next stay!

    A classic Hotel with the true Minato Mirai atmosphere.

    When you think of a Hotel in Minato Mirai, many people probably picture the Grand InterContinental. The Facility feels a bit dated overall—more “you can sense its history”—but at the same time, you can also enjoy the atmosphere of a classic Hotel. I made a Reservation with an IKYU Plan, and I was encouraged to sign up for IHG membership on the spot, which came with a Room upgrade. It was a wonderful Room with large windows and an unobstructed ocean view. Amenities included toner and cleansing products, but not enough for both morning and night, so it may be best to bring your own. In the evening, I also visited the music bar. It’s a bar where you can enjoy live piano performances, and for some reason there was no cover charge—so I could spend a luxurious time there paying only for drinks. Breakfast didn’t have an especially large selection overall, but the bread was outstanding. That said, I did notice there weren’t many dishes that pair well with bread. Still, I highly recommend choosing bread over rice. (There may be a line depending on the time, but turnover seems surprisingly quick.) Lastly, I felt disappointed by one staff member’s response at checkout. However, everyone else was very courteous, and the view from the Room was excellent—so I’d love to stay again in the near future. In the Minato Mirai area I also liked The Royal Park Hotel Yokohama as well, but thanks to its superior views, InterContinental left me more satisfied.

    This is my favorite ...

    This is my favorite Hotel, and I stay here several times a year. It has been a few years since the club lounge moved to the second floor, but I preferred the quality before. I understand it can’t be helped as it was crowded during the New Year holidays, but since it’s a special occasion, I’d like to relax and enjoy an escape from everyday life. I look forward to visiting again with high expectations.

    Corner Suite

    The room and the bath were wonderful. However, for two guests, there was only one facial cleanser set. We shared it at night, and when it ran out by the next morning, we requested more but received an unclear response stating that "one per room is the default." Although they brought us another set upon request, shouldn't there be four sets provided for two guests staying overnight? I would like to stay again next time but plan to order additional facial cleanser sets on the first day.

    It was great.

    Stayed for one night with my husband from 12/30. It was our first stay at this accommodation. We chose an ocean view room. The room offered a wide and beautiful view of the sea, allowing us to enjoy stunning scenery in the morning, afternoon, and evening. The window frame was like a bench, so I stretched out my legs there, turned off all the lights in the room, and enjoyed the night view and sunrise—it was truly relaxing. For breakfast, we opted for the buffet; the Danish pastries were so delicious that I ended up eating too much! One disappointing point: It seemed there were small children in either the room above or next door who were jumping around late at night and early in the morning, causing loud thumping noises. It would be great if we could have a room without children nearby next time. Looking forward to trying a city-view room on our next visit!

    The Room was spaciou...

    The Room was spacious, the bathroom was large, and the view was amazing. However, it was disappointing that it took about 45 minutes to complete the check-in process at the club lounge.

    Disappointing Club Floor

    I have been using the Club Floor during the Christmas season every year, but this year was disappointing. The evening cocktail time was shortened to two hours from 5 PM to 7 PM, and there were no freshly baked pizzas served on-site. Salads and hams were also missing, with a noticeable decline in both the variety and quantity of food offered. There were no staff available to prepare cocktails, and a reduction in staff numbers was evident. Additionally, the lights behind the food service table were turned off, creating a gloomy atmosphere. Overall, I strongly felt a significant decline in the quality of the Club Lounge. On a personal note, I will not be using the Club Floor again in future visits. While I understand the challenging circumstances surrounding today's hotel industry, as someone who has enjoyed InterContinental Hotel's Club Floor for years, it was deeply disappointing.

    We recommend using the lounge.

    I used the lounge. With lounge access, you can enjoy a simplified individual afternoon tea while checking in, which is available from 2 PM and highly recommended. The Hotel room itself is somewhat old but has a nice American-style charm that I personally liked. There were various amenities provided, so I was satisfied. If you'd like to enjoy an Onsen, you can visit Manyo Club right in front of the hotel; I went there the next day and had no complaints. There’s also a cocktail time starting at 5 PM with light snacks available, though I didn’t try them as I ate outside. However, after returning to the hotel, I enjoyed some drinks—there was beer including Hitachino Brewing's Yuzu Lager, which was delicious. Breakfast was served in the same location with three main dishes to choose from and salads offered buffet-style. Enjoying breakfast while basking in the morning sunlight made it even more delightful. Overall, there were mostly adults staying here so it was quiet without noisy children—a very pleasant experience!

    Room temperature control

    Thank you for your hospitality yesterday. Upon checking in and heading to the Room, the Room felt stuffy and hot, with a system that didn’t allow the windows to open much. I tried relying on the air conditioning, but during this season, only heating was available instead of cooling. It was uncomfortable until sunset.

    Continental is the best!!

    I visit Yokohama twice a year and always stay at the Continental Hotel. What do I look forward to? The view and breakfast! The night view is beautiful, the sunrise is stunning, and if you can enjoy it from a high floor, it's absolutely perfect. The breakfast buffet offers a variety of options to enjoy. I personally love natto and had two servings of black soybean natto this time—it was truly delicious! And the coffee is amazing!! I’ll be back again next year, so thank you in advance!

    The response from th...

    The response from the front desk staff was not very satisfactory. It felt mechanical, and even when I asked questions, they answered while operating something without making eye contact, prioritizing efficiency. It left a negative impression on me. If this is the Hotel's policy, I feel it does not suit me. Additionally, I found the 60-minute time limit for breakfast to be too short. The view from the Room was great.

    It was very comforta...

    It was very comfortable. The room had a view of the sea, and both the evening to night scenery and the sunrise were incredibly beautiful, making it a wonderful room. The staff were very polite and kind, allowing us to have a truly wonderful holiday. I would definitely like to stay again when visiting Yokohama.

    I have a concern.

    As always, I was able to relax. However, there was something that caught my attention. At night, I heard a dull sound of footsteps—"ton ton ton." It happened several times while I was sleeping. This was the first time experiencing such a thing. My wife also seemed to notice it. I'm not sure if it came from the person upstairs or if it was related to the Facility. I wrote this because it concerned me.

    It was the best accommodation.

    This time, due to scheduling reasons, I made a multiple night stay with separate reservations for each night. For detailed impressions and comments, please refer to the review of the first night's stay. In any case, it was an excellent accommodation experience. It was flawless in every aspect. Having stayed at numerous hotels before, nothing surpasses Yokohama Grand Intercontinental Hotel in my opinion.

    It was a highly satisfying stay.

    This time, I stayed for two nights on the Club Floor. Due to scheduling, I initially made a reservation for one night and later added another night as a separate reservation. Since it was the same type of room, they treated it as a multiple-night stay. The room was spacious, impeccably clean including the bathroom area, and well-equipped with amenities, making my stay very comfortable. The quality of breakfast, afternoon tea at the Club Lounge, and cocktail time were exceptionally high—truly what you would expect from an InterContinental Hotel. Above all, the service provided by the staff at the Club Lounge was smart and elegant, allowing me to enjoy my time in great comfort. It was a completely satisfying stay in every aspect. I have stayed at nearby hotels before but must say that the service at InterContinental Hotel is simply unmatched.

    I stayed at the accommodation on my wedding day. Although I hadn't mentioned it in advance, I was upgraded to a better room as one was available. It was an ocean-view room where I could quietly spend quality time with my partner, making it a perfect space for such an important occasion. We enjoyed room service for dinner and Japanese cuisine for breakfast, both of which were delicious. The checkout time being relatively late at 11:00 AM was also a nice touch. Next time, I'd like to stay on the city-view side for another special day.

    For the first time in 30 years

    I stayed at this hotel for a meeting after 30 years and was surprised by the gap compared to how it used to be. While I understand that aging is inevitable, I started coughing inexplicably upon entering the room, and after bathing, there were clear circular wipe marks left on the bathroom mirror. For a hotel of this rank, this seems unacceptable and left me disappointed. When I tried calling to borrow a phone charger, no one answered at all, so I gave up.

    Accommodation after 1 year and 2 months.

    I stayed on the Club Floor. It was a stay I had been looking forward to, and the welcome drink and afternoon tea were just the right amount and as delicious as ever. Since it had been a while, there were some changes, and unfortunately, the chewy pizza I was looking forward to during cocktail time was no longer offered. One guest mentioned this to the chef who used to knead the dough, and I happened to be sitting next to them. It made me realize that others also looked forward to it... It felt a bit sad. Breakfast was excellent in taste, portion size, and service—it gave me energy for the day ahead. The room amenities felt somewhat minimalistic this time around. This time I stayed with my spouse, but for about 20 years we have also enjoyed staying here as a family; this Hotel holds many cherished memories for us. I believe we will continue visiting in the future as well. Thank you very much!

    Delicious and reliable breakfast

    We stayed for one night as a family. The breakfast at InterContinental is always delicious, and we were looking forward to it—it did not disappoint! The bread, in particular, was outstanding. The kitchen staff kindly informed us about freshly baked items and even mentioned that the pear pie had just been introduced that day, which made the experience enjoyable. Our kids also ate plenty in the morning. While the Facility is slightly dated, our stay was comfortable without any stress. The night view from our Room was fantastic. When we checked in, we borrowed pajamas for our toddler but would have appreciated an introduction to slippers and amenities at that time. We brought toothbrushes with us, so there were no issues there; however, since there were no slippers provided, we ended up walking barefoot on the carpet. Additionally, it would have been helpful if breakfast tickets included printed information about breakfast times and location.

    The view from the sea-facing Room is absolutely stunning. The Room itself feels quiet and clean. I have stayed here multiple times and truly love this Hotel. I used room service for dining, and the food was very delicious. The customer service is always excellent. I look forward to staying here again in the future.

    The location and staff were excellent.

    This was my first time staying at this accommodation. Here are my initial impressions: Good Points: 1) The location is excellent. The beach, Hammerhead, and the Red Brick Warehouse District are all within a short walking distance (about 5 minutes), making it easy to visit them casually. Cosmo World and Queen's Mall are also nearby, so it was great to be able to return to the room and rest after getting tired from exploring. 2) The staff were very pleasant. Many of them were highly trained professionals, which made me feel very comfortable during my stay. Everyone from the front desk staff to the bell desk team interacted with guests warmly, maintaining eye contact and smiling sincerely. I could sense their determination to provide top-notch service for each guest in front of them, which left me feeling delighted by their professionalism. Based on reviews mentioning many repeat visitors, I believe one major reason is the trust and reassurance that they will always receive such high-quality service backed by professional dedication. 3) The lobby design and overall structure were impressive, and the room was clean. It felt like a classic hotel—grand yet bright, spacious, and beautiful throughout. Walking through the entrance gave me an uplifting sense of having arrived at a proper hotel. While some areas like plumbing showed signs of age in the room itself, it had a calming atmosphere and was impeccably clean everywhere. Essentials like an iron were provided as standard; towels were thick and comfortable; everything needed for a pleasant stay was available. During my two-night stay: On the second night in a city-view room (upgraded due to hotel circumstances), I enjoyed stunning views including Cosmo World’s nightscape through large windows—it was mesmerizing! Additionally upgraded amenities made this particular room even more enjoyable than on my first night—I’d love booking this type next time! Areas for Improvement: 1) Unable To Watch Netflix or Similar Services On TV. Although there’s clearly buttons labeled for Netflix/paid video channels on remote controls inside rooms—they didn’t work unfortunately! It would’ve been nice if personal accounts could log-in enabling access especially since some guests likely visit specifically seeking relaxation ("staycation"). Adding such functionality might further enhance guest satisfaction levels significantly—please consider implementing soon! Overall Impressions: The exceptional quality displayed consistently among employees stood out most strongly—it really comes down ultimately towards people doesn’t it? Looking forward returning someday again hopefully soon!

    Unfortunately.

    I stayed with my daughter. Since it was a lounge access plan, check-in was done at the lounge. After having tea and waiting for a while, we had to go and get the card key ourselves as it wasn't provided. When we entered the room, our luggage hadn't been delivered yet. Even after entering the Wi-Fi password as instructed, it didn’t connect, so I had to contact the front desk. There were no explanations given during check-in in the first place. Despite being a reservation for two women, there was only one set of amenities for women provided. Although I was told that hotel credit could be used for shopping within the premises, it turned out that it couldn’t actually be used at any stores... Unfortunately, I will not stay here again in the future.

    We stayed at the accommodation to celebrate an early birthday and attend a concert the next day. The hotel staff celebrated my birthday, and their thoughtfulness made me very happy. Thank you so much. Having previously enjoyed the wonderful lounge, I booked a room with lounge access this time as well, but I was quite surprised by how much it had changed compared to before. Unfortunately, I couldn't enjoy the delicious pizza (it is available for an additional fee), and overall, it felt somewhat smaller in scale. The breakfast at the lounge also seemed to have fewer options available for order compared to before, which was disappointing given my high expectations. However, room service was absolutely satisfying!

    Stayed at the dream Hotel.

    My first visit to the InterContinental was for a friend's wedding. Close to the sea with a great view, a spacious lobby, and a luxurious atmosphere, I always dreamed of staying at such a Hotel! The reception staff provided clear and polite explanations, and I smoothly reached my Room. Before dinner, I enjoyed swimming in the pool and admiring the Yokohama sea from the balcony. The buffet featured a meat festival, offering various cuts of meat dishes and live seafood cooking, which I thoroughly enjoyed! In the Hotel lobby, I found the original model of the "Guiding Goddess" statue, the symbol of the InterContinental. I was delighted to learn why it was there! The restaurant and lounge had many sea-related names, like "Starboard," making it a paradise for sea lovers. The next morning, I enjoyed a wide variety of Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes for breakfast. Since I planned to explore Yokohama, the Hotel kindly stored my luggage, allowing me to enjoy my day worry-free. This Hotel is comfortable in every way, and I would love to stay here again.
