    Mother-and-daughter getaway

I stayed here for the first time on a hotel staycation with my daughter. We chose it for the ocean-view Room, the breakfast buffet, and the gym. Being just a 5-minute walk from the station was also a deciding factor. With such a wonderful view and seating by the window, we relaxed there morning, noon, and night, enjoying the sea, cruise ships, and the city lights of the surrounding buildings. We also enjoyed walking along the waterfront to Red Brick Warehouse and shopping at Landmark—everything is close by, which was great. The gym isn’t large, but it has enough machines as well as dumbbells and a bench, so you can do proper strength training. I did wish it had a better view. After strength training, I recommend doing some cardio along the waterfront. The breakfast buffet offers both Japanese and Western options, and the croissants were delicious. I also liked being able to customize my rice porridge with different toppings. Since we stayed two nights, we were happy to enjoy the buffet twice. Overall, you can tell there’s some age to the property over time, but it feels very clean and doesn’t feel old. The only things that bothered me were noise from what seemed like an ice machine door closing (next door/above us/or in the hallway) and that the pillows were too soft for me. Still, overall this is a Hotel I’d like to return to. I’d love to stay again for another staycation experience. Thank you very much.

    Thank you for your support.

The night view from the suite on the 25th floor was beautiful. Thank you for the complimentary bottle of sparkling wine as well; we enjoyed it while taking in the view. The Room left a strong impression, as it was at the edge of the circular layout. Waiting in line at check-in was tiring. Since about five Hotel staff were stationed at the counter, I felt check-in could have been faster if separate lines had been formed for each staff member.

    Club InterContinental

Using the Club InterContinental, we were able to relax and spend the entire day at ease. We had been a little worried after seeing comments saying the offerings had changed compared to before, but for us as first-time users, the service was more than satisfying. We chose an ocean-view Room. The open view felt wonderful. We could also see Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Skytree in the distance. Everyone who assisted us was cheerful and kind, so we had a great time.

    A Comfortable Getaway

This was my first time staying here. The check-in staff were wonderful, and the Room was in a great location, so I was able to relax. The Room felt very clean, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the in-Room coffee was delicious. There was just one small thing at breakfast: I wished a bit more attention had been given. When coffee was served to the guests next to us, it seemed like both of us would have liked to be served as well. It may have been a minor matter, but since I truly enjoyed the delicious breakfast and was otherwise very satisfied, it felt a little disappointing. If I have another opportunity, I would definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much.

    The disappointing pa...

The disappointing part was that I had to say my name four times at the front desk. I understand it may have been hard to hear because I was wearing a mask, but the explanation sounded like it was being read from a script, which left me with a very poor first impression of the Hotel. The good points were that, since this is an IHG One Rewards property, I was able to communicate normally through my mask with the staff member at the desk next to the front desk and get Wi-Fi working. Also, the location is great, so I could enjoy a wonderful night view from my Room window. The Japanese breakfast was delicious (and the service there was also good).

    Wonderful

We stayed in a ferris wheel–side Room on a high floor. The view was wonderful and we really enjoyed it, and the bedding was so comfortable that we slept very well. Our child was thrilled too, and we made great memories in Minato Mirai. The staff were pleasant and cheerful, always greeting us with smiles and starting conversations. There were many international guests, and I felt that thanks to the people at this Hotel, they will leave with an even better impression of Japan! I hope this Hotel continues to have the same welcoming atmosphere. The meals were excellent as well. We would love to stay again!

    An annual tradition

We usually stay in a standard Room, but when our children are back home, my spouse and I use the Club Floor. Overall we are satisfied, but we were disappointed that the pizza at cocktail time is no longer available. It’s rare to find a club lounge with a pizza oven.

    View

Among the Hotels I have stayed at many times in Minato Mirai, this one offers the most relaxing view. I sit by the window and spend time simply enjoying the scenery. I was very satisfied to be placed on a high floor. This is a Hotel I would like to stay at again and again.

    We had a great time.

My first time back in Yokohama in a while. I’d been wanting to stay here for some time, so I used a day off to stay one night. It was during the Yokohama Tanabata Festival, and we had a wonderful time enjoying the fireworks from the Hotel and attending an event at Pacifico right in front of us. The view from the Room was great, and the amenities were well chosen—especially ones women would appreciate. Since my birthday was coming up, I received a brownie at check-in, which made my daughter happy too. Thank you very much. We’d love to stay again as a family.

When I open it, all the ratings are set to 5 stars even though I haven’t done anything.

I have stayed here many times. I usually book a top-floor stay with lounge access and breakfast included. The Room often has cracks in the sink/shower area block. This time, there was what looked like the inner wrapper from a toothbrush under the sink, so I think a final cleaning check is important. The lounge is excellent. The food selection includes many set hors d’oeuvres, but everything tastes great, and there is a wide variety of drinks, which I really enjoy. The pizza available for an additional fee is delicious and recommended.

    Continental is the best!!

Two trips to Yokohama every year. This time again, our stay on a high floor at the Continental Hotel was wonderful. Breakfast was great too—the selection of bread had increased, and I could see they’ve put a lot of thought into it. However, one young woman in the dining area didn’t smile and seemed very matter-of-fact. That hadn’t happened before, so it was disappointing. I really hope the staff can greet guests with a smile.

I couldn’t sleep because it was too noisy.

This is a classic Hotel that is over 35 years old, and the Facility uses fixtures from that time, so the plumbing does not feel pleasant. Seeing the toilet and rusted metal parts while bathing makes you not want to use it. The drainage was also poor, and the unit bath flooded while using the shower. Another issue is that it is an old building, and the carpet has been used for decades and is worn out and thin, so it provides no soundproofing. I couldn’t sleep because of the impact noise of several children running around in the adjacent Room. When I informed the Hotel, they said they were aware of the impact noise from children running but felt there was nothing else they could do, so after checking out I rebooked another Hotel and was able to sleep peacefully.

    A Long-Awaited Stay

Since my previous stay, I felt that the lounge services themselves have been scaled back. I understand that this may be due to the times or the hotel’s policy, but it was still shocking to be forgotten even though I was in the lounge specifically to check in. Watching two or three groups who arrived after me complete their check-in made me realize it too late, but still.

    Hmm, please renovate soon.

Since Tokyu had become ridiculously expensive, I had no choice but to stay here (Room 2505). I chose a slightly better Room, but it’s old: the enamel on the sink is peeling, the furnishings are outdated, some power outlets don’t work. The bathtub being spacious is nice. There were two flimsy pillows; I’d like one to be a firm pillow. When it rains, because it’s ocean-facing, the rain splashes against the window and the noise is quite bothersome. Even with light rain, being high up and by the sea makes it noisy at night—I woke up. The worst part is breakfast. It opens at 7:00, but there’s a huge line for the buffet on the 1st floor and you wait over 20 minutes to get in. Nadaman on the 4th floor doesn’t have as much of a line, but the staff move painfully slowly and it’s frustrating. Tokyu also has breakfast congestion issues, but I want this Hotel to take measures as well. For reference, I went to Nadaman two days in a row and the offerings were exactly the same—so you get tired of it. But I don’t want to wait 20 minutes on the 1st floor either. It used to be a wonderful Hotel long ago, but now it has become a Hotel I want to avoid as much as possible. I hope they renovate soon.

    Good

The Room was on the 27th floor. We chose a city-view Room. The view was amazing, and bringing in an outside balloon decorator for a surprise for my girlfriend made her really happy. I’m glad we chose the Yokohama Continental Hotel. There are restaurants and Room service, so you won’t have any trouble with meals. Everything was clean, the shower and bath had plenty of hot water, and I had no issues using the shampoo and other amenities. What was inconvenient: When coming from the parking lot, it wasn’t clear where the front desk was. At check-in, we ended up waiting while holding a lot of luggage. It seems there is a service to carry luggage to the Room, but around 4:00 PM it would take about 20 minutes, so we gave up. The number to call the front desk from inside the Room was hard to find. Drinks in the in-room refrigerator are not free. Even if there were complimentary items, it was hard to tell which were which. The hair dryer wasn’t very powerful. As for the lounge snacks, compared with other Hotels I’ve stayed at and past Reviews, they felt a bit lacking. However, it wasn’t crowded and we could use it calmly. If you don’t expect too much service-wise, it’s an excellent Hotel with a great location.

Thank you for a relaxing stay.

Comfortable Rooms, wonderful views, delicious cuisine, and your warm hospitality—thank you always. This time there were a couple of minor misunderstandings, but the Guest Service Center staff responded quickly and excellently, which reassured me once again that this is a Hotel where I can stay with peace of mind. As always, it’s a truly happy moment when I’m greeted by name at the entrance. Right after returning home, I made my next Reservation—I’m sincerely looking forward to it.

    Continental is the best!!

I visit Yokohama twice a year, and I always choose the Continental Hotel. There are two reasons I love the Continental. First, the view is amazing. From the day I arrive until I leave the next day, it’s something to enjoy—morning, noon, and night are all wonderful. I can’t wait to watch the sunrise. Second is the breakfast. Compared with any other buffet, I don’t think there’s anything better. Everything is delicious, especially the Japanese dishes. The coffee is great too—I end up having about three cups. This time we stayed on the 20th floor and were extremely satisfied!! We’ll be visiting again in June, and I’m excited and hoping for another high-floor room.

    We stayed in a Japan...

We stayed in a Japanese-style suite with two single beds with four women and one infant. We chose a Japanese-style Room because our baby is not yet able to walk well, and because we could sleep on futons rather than in beds. Since it was a Japanese-style Room, the Hotel provided traditional sweets, Japanese tea, and dashi broth to drink for the first time. It was a little disappointing that there were no coffee or black tea packets. Also, perhaps due to SDGs initiatives, there was only one women’s facial care amenity set (cleansing oil, soap, toner, etc.), which was somewhat unsatisfactory. I assumed amenities would be provided at any Hotel and didn’t bring my own, so I realized I should make sure to bring them next time. As an IKYU site Diamond member, checkout was at 12:00 p.m., so we were able to take it easy in the morning.

    Disappointed

As with a few years ago, I stayed this time on a Plan that includes access to the Club Floor. In advance, I was informed that “check-in will be at the regular counter,” and I went there as instructed, but it seemed the information had not been shared on-site. The process did not move forward easily, and I ended up waiting for some time. Even afterward, I was told something like, “Did someone speak to you?” which left me quite confused. It also felt as though staff had noticed me waiting, so I would have appreciated smoother guidance. In addition, the operation of the Club Floor has changed from before, and it felt that the appeal of this Plan was not being fully utilized. Furthermore, including the response at checkout and overall grooming/appearance standards, I honestly felt a decline in service compared with the level I had experienced previously. Because of its convenience for getting to an event venue, this was a stay I had been looking forward to; however, overall it left me disappointed. I hope to see improvements in the future.

It was my first stay here in a while.

It was my first stay in over 10 years. Lately, many front desk staff are foreigners everywhere; that can’t really be helped, but I did feel some stress at check-in/out that I wouldn’t with Japanese staff—such as explanations being a bit hard to understand. (Minus 1 for that.) The Room itself was flawless, but I had first used that brand of hand soap and shampoo at a Hotel in Okinawa, and as someone who dislikes cigarettes, it made my hands and body smell like tobacco all over, so I never wanted to use it again. Having to use it again this time was the worst. (Minus 2 for that.) I planned to buy a cake to take home with the ¥2,000 benefit ticket, but it couldn’t be used at that shop. Also, there was a trainee female staff member who silently cleared plates while we were eating in the lounge. Still, we were able to relax until the 13:00 late check-out. Thank you. In my experience, places—whether a Hotel or a Ryokan—that respond individually in this Review section are usually ones you can stay at with peace of mind and tend to have high satisfaction levels.

This was my third stay, and it was comfortable every time.

It was very convenient for us, as it was for our daughter’s birthday and the Anpanman Museum is nearby. I highly recommend it for families with small children—the location is excellent! The price was around JPY 86,000 including breakfast, so I think it’s great value. The view was wonderful, and we were even able to see fireworks around 8:00 PM! Breakfast included plenty of Japanese dishes, with kid-friendly options as well, which was truly great.

    For a marriage proposal.

Thank you very much for accommodating our various requests. I’m sure you’re used to handling many guests, but we truly appreciated your support. The proposal was a great success, and the bouquet—along with the scenery—was very well received. It made for the best proposal! Both the service and the room were excellent. Thank you again. Regarding amenities, we would have been even happier if there had been two skincare sets for two people (everything was so wonderful that this was the only useful suggestion we could find).

    It exceeded my expectations.

This was my first stay, and overall I felt it offered satisfaction beyond the price. While service quality can vary by staff member, many provided very pleasant service, and I was glad I chose to stay here. Regarding lounge access, when I visited there were seats available during afternoon tea, cocktail time, and breakfast, so I could relax quietly with plenty of space. The offerings were also substantial, and even after the service changes it still felt luxurious. In addition, at the salon on the 28th floor, each time I stopped by there were no other guests, so I was able to fully enjoy the spacious atmosphere. As for the Room, the bathroom area was cleaner than in the published photos and more satisfying than expected. It was great that I could open a window for ventilation. Also, having a separate shower booth meant I didn’t have to worry about water splashing around.

Attentive service and a welcoming atmosphere

This was my first stay here in 10 years. The atmosphere and overall feel were wonderful. It was also great that the housekeeping staff greeted me with “Hello” whenever we passed each other. I ordered room service several times, and the phone staff were extremely polite and easy to understand, and the person who delivered it was very considerate as well. (When they brought the meal to the table, they moved the TV so it would be easier to see and asked if I needed anything.) It made me certain I’ll stay here again next time. Thank you very much.

Pros and Cons of a Long-Established Hotel

I’m a Yokohama resident, but I had never stayed at this Hotel before, so I came with my husband. The night view is beautiful, so I recommend it to visitors from outside the area. It’s about a 30-minute drive from home. The parking is not Hotel-only; it’s a public parking lot. You receive the parking service at check-out. Since we booked a Plan with Club Lounge access, we went straight to the lounge after arrival. We were shown to a window seat in a bright, open lounge, and afternoon tea was served: mini cakes, club sandwiches, shumai dumplings, and scones. The shumai were excellent. After that, we went to the pool. It was almost private as well. There was also a small bath (not a large public bath), so I took a soak. The bath is quite deep. There are two steps when you enter, but once you’re in the water there are no steps at all, which feels scary—so it’s best to sit on the edge and ease in feet first. A lady in her 70s was struggling, so I helped her by taking her arm. It may be a bit risky for elderly guests. I didn’t realize the pool seems to be charged per entry and ended up going again at night. At The Kahala Hotel last month, their spa facility was one flat fee no matter how many times you used it—I should have confirmed beforehand. The pool fee is JPY 4,400. At 5:00 pm we went back to the Club Lounge. Two plates of hors d’oeuvres were served. In addition to that, cheese, nuts, and fruit are unlimited. There are no hot items. I don’t eat much anyway—two glasses of white wine filled me up—but my husband wanted more and ordered seafood fried noodles from Karyu (JPY 2,500), which were very good. Breakfast is excellent in both quality and quantity. The Room is smaller than Kahala’s 50 m² rooms as expected, but it has the calmness and solid feel of a classic adults-only style Hotel. If you want hot food included in your evening offerings, you may not need Club Lounge access. It works if you can eat hors d’oeuvres in the lounge and still have a full meal at a restaurant afterward—but at our age that’s too much. Still, JPY 43 ,000 for two people with Club Lounge access felt reasonably priced.
