    All good

Both the meals and service were exceptional. We traveled with a toddler, and the foreign staff member was incredibly kind and accommodating. The sparkling wine recommended during dinner was a big hit with the whole family. The sake was also delicious. Both dinner and breakfast were impressive in terms of quality and quantity.

    I had a great time.

It was a girls' trip with kids, and we were very satisfied with the meals and onsen. The room was spacious, and even with 5 people including children, it was comfortable. Since it’s a kaiseki-style ryokan, I thought the kids might not eat much, but they served dishes that children liked, which made us happy. Some reviews mentioned issues with customer service, but everyone was very kind and pleasant. One concern is that the large open-air bath didn’t feel very "open-air" and was a bit small. It might be nice to have time slots for private use when visiting as a family.

    Relaxing Solo Trip

"I was looking for a place where I could enjoy an Onsen in a snow-free area, close to the city, and relax—and I found it here. The Shuttle Service from the station made it so convenient. Above all, the Room and its attached open-air bath were absolutely amazing! The dinner was luxurious as well. It was such a wonderful experience. Staying in a Japanese-Western style room allowed me to relax on tatami mats, which was delightful. So, I've decided to bring my mother next month for another visit! Looking forward to your hospitality again!"

    Excellent

In February, my wife and I stayed in a room called "Sagamiro." The sunlight streaming into the room and the view from the guestroom were wonderful, and the temperature of the private open-air bath was perfect. Every dish we had was delicious, and the handwritten menu was charming. When I requested water to take medicine before a meal, they kindly brought warm water instead. Additionally, when I asked for tissues during dinner, they had them prepared in advance for breakfast the next morning—such thoughtful service. It was an accommodation that makes you want to visit again.

Great Property for Families with Children

We had decided long ago that we would visit once we had a child, and this time we stayed as a family of three, including our 3-month-old daughter, for my husband's birthday trip. As a "Welcome Baby" Property, everything was prepared, including baby wipes, a diaper disposal bin, body soap, and a children's amenity set. There was no baby crib, but bed guards were provided. At the dining area, although we couldn't use them yet, there were children's chairs and tableware available. The staff's hospitality was excellent—they prepared a bassinet as soon as our daughter fell asleep and engaged with her a lot while she was awake, which kept her in a very good mood. The Room was spacious, had great natural lighting, and was very clean. The open-air bath was also large, allowing us to relax and enjoy it as a family. We heard that there are many options for baby food, so we would love to stay again when our daughter grows older. Thank you for providing us with such a wonderful time.

    Spacious and open-feeling guest rooms

I have visited Yugawara Onsen many times, but this was my first time staying here. The Room named "Katsuragi," which was renovated a few years ago, features floor-to-ceiling glass windows, offering a sense of openness beyond its spaciousness, and the view of Yugawara town spreading below is magnificent. The open-air Onsen allowed us to adjust the water temperature, which made it easy to cater to my husband, who loves hot water, and myself, who prefers lukewarm water. This was a delightful feature. The winter night sky seen from the open-air Onsen was stunningly beautiful, making it hard to believe we were in the middle of a town. The giant cherry tree visible through the glass windows caught my attention, and I immediately made a Reservation for the next visit, hoping to come back during the season of full cherry blossoms.

A Ryokan with abundant hospitality and a modern Japanese style

We stayed at the Property on the weekend of February 1-2, with my mother in her late 80s and my sibling in their 50s. Through IKYU, we had requested a Room close to the entrance and considerations for easy-to-eat meals for our elderly mother, and all our requests were accommodated. This Ryokan was selected entirely with our elderly mother in mind, as each Room has an open-air bath and meals can be served in the Room for an additional fee. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality and service were exceptional, making for a highly satisfying stay. To be honest, the large public bath was not particularly noteworthy, but this was not a negative point for us. The kaiseki dinner in the evening and the breakfast the next morning were both outstanding in taste and presentation. Every interaction with the staff, including casual conversations, was pleasant, allowing us to enjoy a short yet luxurious and relaxing time. To all the staff, thank you very much for taking such great care of us. We truly appreciate it.

    The Room at Sagamiji...

The Room at Sagamiji offered a stunning view and was spacious enough to feel luxurious even for four people. The warm hospitality of the staff was evident in every detail, making it a truly memorable trip. I would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

The photos and reality are different, aren't they?

I was a bit worried about using this for the first time due to the mixed Reviews. The videos and images all look wonderful, but upon visiting, the Facility was quite old as mentioned in the negative Reviews. The hallways smelled like toilets, the carpets were stained, and while the Room appeared stylish, there were many cheap aspects that left me disappointed and feeling it wasn't worth the price. I think this Property may not satisfy those who usually stay at decent accommodations. The staff level cannot be described as high either. Since it was winter, the open-air bath in the Room was cold, and the large public bath, being semi-open-air, was also quite chilly. I would prefer an indoor bath where I can relax. The meals were not bad. While the Property gives off the appearance of a stylish luxury accommodation on the surface, staying there quickly reveals that it is far from being a truly wonderful place.

Healing extraordinary moments in the finest rooms

We stayed here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The spacious and serene guest room allowed us to spend a relaxing and healing day. The highlight was the private open-air hot spring bath in the room, where we could unwind and breathe in the fresh air, relieving the fatigue of daily life. After soaking in the bath, the outdoor air bath was incredibly refreshing. The kaiseki cuisine was both delicious and satisfying in portion, and the warm hospitality of the staff made our stay even more pleasant. Spending time surrounded by nature, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, was truly rejuvenating for both mind and body, making it a truly happy anniversary trip!

The meals are excellent, the Room is the worst.

Anyway, the room was cold, and the air conditioning didn't work. There was an oil fan heater, but it smelled when turned on, so I turned it off immediately. When you open the toilet door, there's a table right in front, and there should be a partition in between. The hot water temperature was also low, and although a staff member adjusted it once, it dropped again afterward, and I kept adding hot water. This was my third stay, but it was the worst room I've ever had. I don't think I'll ever use it again.

    It was good.

There were many foreign staff members, but everyone was kind and very pleasant. The meal was a small course, but it was just the right amount for us. The light seasoning was perfect for us who are not fond of strong flavors, and it was very delicious. The room was spacious and very clean. Overall, it was a wonderful Stays, but it was unfortunate that some parts of the carpet on the stairs and hallway were dirty.

Stays where you can enjoy a leisurely and luxurious time.

A traditional Ryokan arranged in a modern style! That's exactly how it felt. The balance between Western-style and Japanese-style rooms, open-air baths and terraces, and miniature gardens is exquisite, making it a Property where you want to stay and relax. It is friendly to families with small children or babies, as well as elderly couples, and is recommended for all generations. Thank you for your hospitality.

Another favorite Stays has been added.

From autumn to spring, I go to stay at Onsen Stays I found on IKYU about twice a month. It's not easy to find a Property that makes me want to visit again, but Ashikari-san was a very relaxing and healing Stays. I stayed at Asuka, which was renovated in 2021. The Room was very bright and had an excellent sense of openness... huh? The furnishings and interior looked familiar... I thought it looked just like a Stays around Gora, and it turned out to be managed by the same group. For the grade of the Stays, it was just over 30,000 yen per person, and as expected, the kaiseki ryokan meal was very delicious, and I slept soundly on a Sealy semi-double bed. And above all, the hot water in Yugawara was very smooth and pleasant, and I stayed in the water the whole time during my stay. I'm also happy with the extensive Diamond member benefits. Next time, I would like to stay at Kokonoe.

Very satisfied with the open-air bath in the guest room.

【Room & Amenities】 Utilized Sakura. The high ceiling provides a sense of openness, and although it's not a large room, it feels spacious and comfortable. The sofa is also soft and pleasant. All amenities are carefully selected and of good quality. The hairdryer is a Nanoe. 【Service】 All the staff we encountered in the property would always stop and greet us with a smile. There were many foreign staff members, but they provided thorough service and explanations, which satisfied us (there were some moments when it was a bit hard to understand the explanations of the dishes, but it was within our acceptable range). 【Onsen & Bath】 The private open-air bath in the room was very satisfying in terms of size, water quality, and cleanliness, and we used it multiple times during our stay. The large public bath is not very spacious, but it is well-equipped with shampoo and other amenities, and you can enjoy beer or ice cream while looking at the courtyard after bathing, which adds to the service experience. 【Dining】 Both dinner and breakfast were very substantial. The breakfast, in particular, was of high quality and satisfying. It was a property that made us want to visit again after a long time.

    Comfortable time and space

We stayed as a couple. The Room was very spacious and bright, and we were able to enjoy a pleasant time with a nice view from the private open-air bath attached to the Room. The meals were adjusted to accommodate my pregnant wife, and we were able to enjoy them deliciously. The staff's service was excellent, and they were friendly, making our stay enjoyable. We would like to visit again as a family of three once our child is born. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

We were very satisfied as a family of three (parents + 1-year-old)!

We chose this place for our family trip because it was highly recommended on social media as "perfect for traveling with children." We informed them in advance that we have a 1-year and 2-month-old son, and they kindly provided a bed guard and amenities for children, which was really helpful. They also offered toy rentals and meals with mild flavors for children (for a fee), which were great points for families with small children! Additionally, since meals were served in the room, we were happy to let our child play freely while dining. During meals, the staff kindly interacted with our son, and he seemed to enjoy it every time. It was wonderful that they created an atmosphere where the whole family could relax. The room was a studio type, different from typical Ryokan rooms, and the stylish atmosphere excited us from the moment we entered. The open-air bath attached to the room was fantastic, allowing us to relax surrounded by nature. The room we stayed in had a glass-walled shower and bath area, which was very stylish and nice, but since it was visible from the room, it might be a concern for those who are sensitive about such things. Overall, it was a highly satisfying stay! We would love to stay again. Looking forward to the next opportunity.

    It was cold.

The staff were very friendly, which was nice. However, the hallway and dining area were cold, so please provide a bit more heating. I was told to be careful as the open-air bath in the room was hot, but when I tried to enter at night, it was lukewarm and took quite a while to be ready. I had to go out and press the switch every 30 seconds. The facilities were clean, which was good.

    Thank you for your patronage.

It was my first visit to Yugawara, and I felt relieved as it was not as bustling as Hakone or Atami. Ashikari-san was really great. I enjoyed both the open-air bath in the Room and the quiet large public bath. It's nice that there are plenty of towels provided in both the Room and the large public bath. The meals were leisurely and all delicious. The atmosphere of the staff was also pleasant, making for a comfortable stay until the end. I would love to stay in other types of Rooms as well.

    The staff were kind ...

The staff were kind to the children and were experienced in their interactions, allowing us to have a very pleasant stay. The room was well-cleaned and comfortable. Regarding the Onsen, the cleanliness and temperature were very good. If I may add, as someone who doesn't use the large public bath, it would be nice to have the benefits of the Onsen in the room written somewhere. The balcony was lovely, so I would like to visit again during a warmer season and spend the whole day there. Thank you very much.

We had a very pleasant two-day stay with excellent customer service. We stayed in a detached building, and although it had been renovated, the age of the building was undeniable, and it was a shame that it was chilly. Next time, we would love to stay in the main building.

    A bit disappointing

The hospitality and service were good. For some reason, one window in the men's large bath was open, and it was very cold. I closed it myself and soaked in the bath. The open-air bath in the Room was very nice. The dining area had four groups together, but one group was noisy, and we couldn't enjoy a relaxing meal. As for the main meat dish, serving cold beef stew in the cold season is questionable. The Room was cold at night, and the noise from the air conditioner was bothersome, so I couldn't sleep well. Please consider temperature management during the winter season.

    I had high expectati...

I had high expectations for the kaiseki cuisine, and the food was incredibly delicious, leaving me deeply impressed. The bath water is quite hot. However, the water feels soft, making the hot temperature just right. There is always perfectly tempered water in the terrace bath right in front, and I found myself taking a dip multiple times. As for the guest room, I found it a bit inconvenient without a space (desk?) to place my computer and work, but other than that, it was open, modern, and very comfortable.

It was the best New Year's holiday.

The Room and bath were excellent. The staff in charge of the Room was very pleasant, and they carefully disinfected the table before serving the in-room meal, allowing us to enjoy a comfortable stay throughout. Both dinner and breakfast featured festive New Year's menus that were exciting. The beef stew for dinner, in particular, exceeded expectations with its large, tender meat as the main dish—truly satisfying. We would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

The hospitality at this Stays is wonderful.

We visited shortly after the New Year with our family, including two preschool children. The entrance was beautifully decorated with New Year's flowers and kadomatsu, and during the check-in process, we were treated to tangerines and Hakone mountain sake, allowing us to enjoy the New Year's atmosphere. Our children received juice in cute Anpanman glasses, and we were surprised with my husband that they were only hand-washable glasses. Our room was at the very bottom of the stairs, and since it was noted as (40 steps) at the time of reservation, we were prepared for it, which was good. Although we hadn't specifically mentioned it, they had already prepared a diaper trash can and wipes in the room, which was very much appreciated. We had dinner at the dining area, but there was a moment when our child raised their voice a bit, and we overheard another family asking to change seats. We tried to distract our child and eat quickly to avoid causing trouble, and when we asked the staff if they could serve the meal a bit faster, they kindly obliged and brought the courses promptly, which was very helpful. Even then, they didn't skip the explanation of the dishes and provided necessary information, like how to enjoy the food best, which was very much appreciated. They also suggested, "Would you like us to bring the dessert to your room?" which was very helpful as we were feeling a bit awkward. Additionally, they kindly brought drinks along, saying they thought we couldn't enjoy the meal leisurely, which was very thoughtful and appreciated. All the staff we passed by greeted us with smiles, and the hospitality was excellent. The bath in the room was very spacious, and we could enjoy it comfortably. One point, although it couldn't be helped, was that the hallway and room were very cold, and we had the heater running at full capacity. The changing room was tiled, and while adults could manage with indoor slippers, the children's feet got cold quickly even after warming up in the bath, so they went back to the onsen several times. (laughs)

We were able to fully enjoy the New Year's atmosphere.

The sense of openness and brightness of the room was wonderful, and the open-air bath attached to the room was bathed in sunlight filtering through the trees. We enjoyed the free-flowing Onsen with our family while listening to the sounds of wild birds. The staff's service was natural and attentive, and we enjoyed conversations about local specialties and famous ramen shops even in the shuttle service. Since we brought our elderly mother, the many stairs between the room and the dining area were a bit challenging for her, but we managed. The cuisine was a menu that allowed us to fully enjoy the New Year's atmosphere, skillfully utilizing local ingredients, and we were satisfied. The New Year's ikebana decorations throughout the corridors were also lovely. We would love to visit again.

    It was a wonderful Stays.

I stayed for the first time during my New Year's trip. The view from the Room's bath was spectacular, and I used it many times. The large public bath was also very clean. The meals were deliciously seasoned, and I thoroughly enjoyed them. The service from everyone was excellent, and I was very satisfied. I would love to come and stay again.

    The Supreme Stays

We stayed during the first three days of the New Year for a family trip. We used the "Katsuragi" room, where light streamed in through the glass windows covering one side of the room, and the view from the hill was also wonderful, allowing us to spend a peaceful time until checkout. The open-air bath attached to the room was a free-flowing hot spring, and we could have the space, including the above-mentioned view, all to ourselves, which was very satisfying. As for the meals, both dinner and breakfast were elaborate, incorporating plenty of seasonal ingredients, and we enjoyed not only the taste but also the visual presentation. It was also hearty, giving a sense of value. Above all, I think the charm of Ashikari-san lies in their customer service. We visited by car, and from the guidance at the parking lot to the checkout, the staff's courteous and heartfelt service was wonderful and left a deep impression. There was a cherry tree very close to the room, and I thought I would like to visit again during the cherry blossom season as I headed home. Thank you very much for your hospitality.
