    This was my first ti...

    This was my first time using this accommodation. It had been a while since I stayed at a traditional Japanese-style Ryokan. At the time of reservation, there were no available rooms with beds, so I stayed in a room with futons for the first time in years. However, upon arrival, I found that the renovations were well done. The lobby lounge was bright and spacious with ample natural light, and the room had a modern yet simple and calming design. This visit was primarily to enjoy the Onsen and delicious meals. As expected, the private Onsen in our room was quite spacious, and we enjoyed it multiple times. Of course, we also used the large public bath to relax fully and were delighted by complimentary ice cream at the relaxation area afterward. For dinner, we opted for a light Kaiseki course meal. While I sometimes leave food unfinished at Ryokans due to large portions, this time I managed to finish everything! The meal featured rare ingredients such as shark fin, kinki fish, domestic duck meat, and Ezo deer—all of which were delightful. Additionally, they offered authentic non-alcoholic wine options for those who don't drink alcohol—a thoughtful touch that made me happy! Lastly, while we thoroughly enjoyed both the Onsen and meals as planned during our stay on an extremely cold winter day—the single air conditioner in our spacious room struggled to keep it warm after sunset comfortably. Perhaps having heated carpets or Kotatsu would have helped improve comfort during such conditions. Nonetheless, all staff members were cheerful and provided courteous service throughout our stay—making it very pleasant overall! Thank you very much!

    For my father's birthday

    My parents stayed here. It was my father's birthday, so we surprised him with a dessert plate that included a message from his grandchild. He was very happy, and it was a great success.     A trip with a mother and her three daughters

    We visited Ashikari for a nearby Onsen trip to celebrate my mother's 88th birthday and my sister's birthday. The Room was clean, bright, and the private open-air bath was pleasant with a nice view. For meals, we chose a lighter kaiseki course, which had just the right amount of food. However, the main meat dish seemed overcooked and consisted mostly of end pieces, which was disappointing. When I requested a refill of hot tea at the end, it never arrived despite waiting. Most of the staff were very dedicated and friendly, which was appreciated. However, considering the price point, it felt like the experience didn’t quite meet expectations.

    Perfect for a first trip with kids!

    We visited as a family of three with our 3.5-month-old daughter. It was our first trip with a baby, so we were a bit worried, but the facilities were excellent, and both the Room and meals exceeded our expectations—making it a very satisfying stay! For children, there were plenty of amenities such as free rental baby cribs and futons, baby baths, body soap, wet wipes, and even diaper disposal bins! They also helped with sterilizing baby bottles, which was incredibly helpful. The adult amenities were also well-prepared, allowing us to pack minimally. The view from the spacious private open-air bath in the guest Room was stunning and provided truly relaxing moments. The staff members were all kind and accommodating; there were many other families with children staying as well, so we felt comfortable throughout our stay. We would love to visit again during another season or for a multi-generational family trip!

    Anger.

    Anger. If I were criticized for mistakes at work, I’d like to shrug it off saying I don’t remember or claim that things are usually in order when they’re not. Charging over 100,000 yen per night and yet no one greets us upon arrival by car, no explanation about the breakfast—this is unbelievable! I regret spending my family’s time off and money here. I would appreciate a comment from the management company.

    The Onsen in the room had a perfect temperature, was clean, and was the best among all my travel experiences. Dinner was visually delightful, delicious, and satisfying. Breakfast was even better—I ate too much! The flower arrangements placed throughout the facility were intriguing, the tableware for meals was beautiful, and a refined fragrance filled the hallways. This is a place I would love to visit again.

    Onsen Trip

    It was a very nice accommodation. The atmosphere was wonderful, the staff were kind, and their warm smiles left a great impression. The meals were elaborate and delicious, and there were free drinks available throughout the facility, allowing us to enjoy a relaxing time. Our room was in a separate building with two rooms in one structure. However, the soundproofing was excellent, so we hardly noticed any noise from next door. That said, reaching the separate building required descending more than 10 stone steps, which was a bit challenging for my elderly grandmother. Since it is not barrier-free, this should be taken into consideration. Overall, it was a very satisfying stay.

    The warm dishes were served at lukewarm temperatures, which was disappointing. During the colder season, lukewarm grilled fish and meat are quite unsatisfactory.

    Highly satisfying even for guests with babies.

    We made a last-minute reservation on IKYU.com the day before our stay. Despite it being the final day of a holiday weekend and a sudden booking, everything went smoothly without any issues, and we are very grateful. This time, we stayed as a family with my husband and our 10-month-old son. We were looking for an accommodation that could meet the following needs: - A room with Onsen access - A safe space for our son to crawl around freely - In-room dining availability - Minimal concern about disturbing others with crying Ashikari met all these expectations perfectly, and we are very satisfied with our choice. The Onsen in the room was open and spacious, which delighted us adults. Our son also enjoyed soaking in the Onsen and was in high spirits. The baby amenities provided, including body soap for babies, were convenient as we didn’t need to bring anything extra. While it might have been available upon request, having a small chair for our son to sit on during bath time would have been even more helpful. We also used the public bath facilities and found them incredibly relaxing. What helped us most was that the public bath had sinks, toothbrushes, other amenities, plus toilets available—this allowed us to handle everything outside of our room after putting our son to sleep without disturbing him. The room itself was clean, modernly designed with flat surfaces throughout so that even crawling around was safe; this made my son smile as he moved about happily. For in-room dining service, they even prepared baby food for my son's meal—it must have been delicious because he finished it at lightning speed! Although there were moments when his movements or fussiness interrupted mealtime progress for us adults occasionally adjusting timing or offering thoughtful assistance from staff made things much easier overall! Their friendly interactions w/our child every-time meals arrived added warmth too! Interestingly enough neighboring rooms seemed occupied by another family w/baby hearing faint cries distant reassured knowing similar situations existed nearby eased pressure allowing relaxed atmosphere instead! Overall experience staying here w/family especially young child left refreshed rejuvenated thanks countless thoughtful considerations extended entire family deeply appreciative once again!

    A Wonderful Accommodation Welcoming Babies

    All rooms come with an open-air hot spring bath, and since meals are served in the room, it was very convenient even with a baby. The food was also incredibly delicious. The free drinks and ice cream in the refrigerator were a nice touch. I would love to visit again.

    A wonderful accommodation for a memorable stay

    We were finally able to stay at Ashikari, a place we had always wanted to visit, after completing caregiving for our parents and settling various matters. Check-in was done while enjoying tea in a lovely lobby overlooking the garden. The atmosphere was calming with many flowers beautifully arranged, and the staff's explanations and hospitality were excellent, making us feel very comfortable. The room was exactly as seen in videos and photos—truly wonderful. We enjoyed the view and the open-air bath at a leisurely pace, creating blissful moments. Dinner was impressive with handwritten menus by the chef that reflected seasonal themes and current times. Though each portion was small, there were many dishes beautifully presented that delighted both our eyes and taste buds; everything tasted amazing. A couple of minor disappointments: the timing to extinguish the fire under the hot pot was delayed, causing some soup to burn slightly which left an odor that lingered; also, we felt desserts could have been more creative. However, both the room and open-air bath ranked among the best accommodations we've ever stayed at! We had such a relaxing time and were extremely satisfied overall. It became a wonderful memory for us as a couple. Thank you very much!

    We stayed at the accommodation as a couple with our 1-year-old child to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was our first time using a room with an open-air bath while traveling with a child, and we were very satisfied, enjoying a relaxing and extraordinary time. The clean room was comfortable, and the meals were absolutely delicious. The children's meals were well-prepared, and even our small-eating child ate heartily. The staff who served us during breakfast and dinner were very kind and spoke gently to our child, which made us very happy. We would love to stay here again in the future. Thank you so much!

    We stayed as a family of three with our 10-month-old son. It was our first trip with a baby, and we were a bit anxious, but thanks to the thoughtful care of the staff, we had a very comfortable stay. The staff kindly assisted us by warming up the baby food we brought and washing containers and bottles, which was incredibly helpful. Despite it being a dry season, they provided a humidifier and installed bed guards—thoughtful touches that were greatly appreciated for traveling with a baby. Dinner was served in our room, and although it took some time as our son wanted to play midway through, the staff noticed this and adjusted the serving pace accordingly. Their flexibility left us deeply impressed. Each dish was carefully prepared and delicious, while the room was clean and comfortable throughout our stay. This is such a warm accommodation where even families with babies can feel at ease. We would love to visit again when our child is older!

    Welcome Baby Plan

    We stayed as a family of four with our 2-year-old and newborn. The room was wonderful, and we were delighted by the thoughtful services such as bed guards, toy rentals, bottle cleaning and sterilization, and the provision of baby wipes (Pampers). Among these, the Anpanman toy we borrowed became a favorite for our 2-year-old daughter, who played with it throughout our stay. Additionally, having my breast pump cleaned and sterilized was incredibly helpful. The meals were exceptionally delicious, each dish leaving a lasting impression. We requested wine pairings that perfectly complemented the dishes. Although it took us some time to dine while looking after two children, the staff kindly adjusted to our pace so we could enjoy a relaxing meal with wine after quite some time. We unexpectedly ran out of diapers during our stay but were relieved when they provided Pampers Big diapers upon request—it was a great help. While there were minor concerns like stains on cushions or floor pillows and some dirt on the bath bucket, this accommodation left such a positive impression that we would love to stay again.

    The bath was excellent.

    I stayed for one night. Overall, it was good, but there were a few points that caught my attention, so I decided to share my thoughts. First, there was no welcome greeting upon arrival by car. Considering the price is not particularly low, I think a proper welcome would be appreciated. Next, when tea was served in the lobby, the woman who brought it held the rim of the teacup with her hand. This surprised me greatly. As part of hospitality services, I hope this aspect will be addressed through proper training. The lack of a warm welcome at the beginning left me slightly disappointed. Since meals were served in the Room, it might have been unavoidable; however, all dishes were lukewarm and disappointing. At this price point, such meals felt underwhelming—delicious food loses its appeal when it's not hot enough to enjoy fully. Would dining outside of the Room have allowed us to enjoy piping hot dishes? The Room and bath facilities were very clean and highly satisfying overall! The staff members were also pleasant and courteous; therefore, I am leaving these critical comments with high hopes for future improvements! Please consider these points for enhancement moving forward!

    Perfect for a relaxing trip with your baby and family.

    We stayed for one night and two days on a family trip with our 6-month-old baby. Although there were some stairs inside the accommodation, the staff kindly carried our luggage, so it wasn't too inconvenient. The guest room was spacious, and the beautiful view was incredibly relaxing. Above all, the service was excellent—there were toys and lap blankets available in the dining area, and they even helped wash baby bottles and utensils for baby food. The staff were experienced in handling babies, allowing us to stay without any worries. While accommodations that allow children often feel overly family-oriented, and stylish accommodations can make you feel self-conscious about bringing a baby along, this ryokan offered a clean environment where we could relax without hesitation—a perfect place to unwind from daily parenting fatigue. It was such a wonderful accommodation that I would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

    We recently visited with our family. The Room was clean, and the food was delicious. If there is one point for improvement, it would be that the pillow had an odor. It would be appreciated if not only the cover but also the pillow itself could be deodorized.

    Not worth the price,...

    Not worth the price, I had too high expectations. The room was lovely, but the layout was inconvenient. The bed is right by the entrance, the toilet is directly next to the bed, and you have to go through the shower room to access the balcony (which makes your feet wet and uncomfortable after a shower). Above all, there is no soundproofing. Perhaps because of sliding doors at the entrance, I could hear neighboring rooms' doors opening and closing. At night, a child crying in another room kept me awake. Paying such a high price for accommodation and having to deal with so much noise from other guests feels unreasonable. Although I heard it has been renovated, there were moldy grout lines around the tiles near the dressing area leading to the shower room. The ceiling visible from lying on the bed also appeared blackened—likely mold as well. Upon entering our room for check-in, we immediately noticed a dead insect under the low table—was it even cleaned? As for common areas like at this ryokan's entrance—the carpeted floor was stained all over—high-end accommodation????? The food was disappointing; honestly not tasty at all. Many dishes had a mushy texture resembling processed fish cakes despite being advertised as kaiseki cuisine—it fell far short of expectations. Since we had children with us, some consideration regarding cutlery or chopsticks would have been appreciated. There wasn’t even a farewell gesture upon departure; hospitality left much to be desired overall. It wasn’t particularly terrible but definitely not worth what we paid for it.

    The meal quality does not match the price.

    After checking into the hotel, a foreign staff member provided a detailed explanation of the facilities. We then walked through a poorly cleaned hallway to reach the room. The room, priced at 150,000 yen, had glass walls offering an incredible view, but at night, it attracted a large number of insects. As for the meals, they were so bland and unappetizing that my companion and I exchanged glances in disappointment. Having stayed at various ryokans before, I believe significant improvement is needed in their cuisine. The staff's efforts were commendable; however, the disappointing food overshadowed their hard work. I will not stay here again.

    This was my second stay. The meals were delicious. This time, I reserved a detached room, but since I had to go down stone steps to reach it, I think the main building would be better for those with mobility issues or elderly guests. The bathroom in the room was excellent.

    Recommended Accommodation for Families with Babies

    We visited with our 7-month-old baby. The room was spacious with tatami mats, allowing the baby to crawl around happily. The Onsen was suitable for babies, so we were able to enjoy a private open-air bath and let our baby experience their first Onsen (temperature adjustable). All the meals were incredibly delicious, and we had a wonderful time refreshing ourselves. We would love to stay again!

    Our first trip with our baby became the most wonderful memory!

    We stayed here for our first family trip with our 8-month-old baby. While many "Welcome Baby" accommodations tend to feel a bit cheap, Ashikari was truly exceptional. Both parents could relax and fully enjoy the large public bath and private open-air bath. The food was delicious, and everything about the stay was wonderful. Above all, it was incredibly baby-friendly! The staff asked about our baby's age and brought several toys to keep them entertained, making our child genuinely happy. They provided everything we needed—bottle-warming pots, Pampers wipes, diaper bins, baby soap, yoga mats (for laying the baby down), a crib, high chairs—so we could practically come empty-handed! What we appreciated most was that they even took care of washing and sterilizing bottles and cups for us! Every staff member we encountered was amazing; it made for an entirely blissful experience!

    The open-air bath in the Room was excellent.

    We stayed as a three-generation family, and we greatly appreciated the thoughtful care provided for our small children. The room was bright and clean, the meals were delicious with just the right portions, making our stay very comfortable. The private open-air bath in the room was especially wonderful with a great view, so relaxing that we wanted to stay in it forever.

    We stayed with our 7-month-old baby and were very pleased with the accommodation. The availability of toys, a baby bath, a baby chair, and even baby shampoo was incredibly helpful. Although we didn’t use it, they also offered baby food, making it a very comfortable place for families with babies! The private open-air bath in the room was perfect during the fragrant osmanthus season, allowing us to enjoy the lovely scent while relaxing. The meals were also delicious and satisfying. We’re looking forward to staying here again at the same time next year!
