    This is my mother’s favorite accommodation.

    Thank you for your continued support. This is an Accommodation my mother loves, and we have stayed here many times after visiting our family grave in Kyoto. The staff are always wonderful, and although I make the Reservation on her behalf, I ask for various requests each time. After her stay, when I asked how the Accommodation was, she happily told me that this time she enjoyed all of the women’s baths. It seems she was also able to fully relax and enjoy the private open-air bath. We are grateful every time for the thoughtful care shown by your staff. We have a Reservation at year-end as well, and we would appreciate your kind attention to my parents again then.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    I have stayed here several times, and I was satisfied again this time. The meals were so plentiful and delicious that I couldn’t finish them all, and they made me want to come back. The private bath was also relaxing and enjoyable.

    My plans for the Obo...

    My plans for the Obon holidays changed suddenly, so I made a Reservation in a hurry. Luckily, I was able to Reserve a wonderful Room. The in-room Onsen was very relaxing, and I stayed in it for a long time. The lounge was also comfortable, and I ended up lingering there. I’d love to stay again.

    Third stay

    Thank you as always. This time, we stayed in the annex. We came mainly for the fireworks festival, and we truly appreciated the Shuttle Service as well. We also enjoyed using the lounge. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent and very satisfying. Thank you to all the Facility staff for your kindness, as always.

    Three-Generation Family Trip

    Overall, I was satisfied. However, maybe it was crowded when I arrived, but I had to wait quite a while at the front desk on the 1st floor. When someone finally guided me to Karoi, he didn’t say a word. I was surprised, but I followed this very unfriendly young man in silence. After we finally reached the Karoi lounge, I was left waiting again. In the end, it took more than 30 minutes from arrival to check-in. I think they should provide guidance and explain the facilities a bit more while escorting guests, and the waiting time after arriving at the lounge was far too long as well. I kept wondering what that time was for. The food was okay, but service was far too slow, and water kept dripping from the air conditioner above our table throughout the meal—I had to keep wiping it up while eating. The Room and Onsen were excellent, but because of all the waiting from check-in onward, I didn’t feel any special sense of exclusivity at Karoi.

    We were completely satisfied with everything.

    This was my second stay, and the atmosphere felt different from before. When I asked, I was told the Hotel had been renovated. It was already clean before, but after the renovation it felt even more beautiful. We stayed in a room with an open-air bath, and the water temperature was just right. Above all, the meals were truly delicious, making this a very satisfying trip. We will definitely stay again.

    Everything was great in every way.

    I’ve stayed at many Accommodations over the years, and this one was truly excellent. The hot spring water quality was great. There were three hair dryers, which I really appreciated, and I was satisfied with the amenities—everything else as well. The creative kaiseki cuisine was unbelievably delicious. It gave me ideas for everyday cooking. I definitely want to come again. Thank you very much.

    Overall Impression

    On our usual trip with two families of four (all aged 70 and over), we were able to relax and fully enjoy the Luxury Floor, and everyone was very happy—we had a wonderful, enjoyable trip. The variety and amount of food were just right for us. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us. The large public bath was a little far from our Room, so we ended up bathing in the Room instead (unfortunately). Also, the reception staff and everyone else were extremely kind and helpful—it left a lasting impression on us.

    This was our first v...

    This was our first visit with four people we met on an Onsen tour. Everything exceeded our expectations, and everyone—from 62 to 88 years old—agreed that every detail was thoughtfully taken care of and that they would love to return. The Room was spacious, and everything was well prepared: amenities, tea set, drinks and a machine in the Room, even cleaning cloths. The sweets were delicious. The toilet was roomy (with an easy-to-use door), and the two sinks were also very spacious. From the moment we arrived it was “This is great!” and “How lovely!” again and again. The lounge was very convenient and enjoyable, with Häagen-Dazs cups, organic vegetable drinks, cider, ramune soda, and a wide selection of alcohol. Above all, having access to the lounge until 1:00 a.m. was a first for us at any Ryokan. Everyone said it felt like a waste to go to bed early, so we ended up chatting late into the night. The Onsen water had a smooth alkaline feel. We enjoyed the panoramic bath, the private bath (Diamond benefit), and even the in-room bath—all fed by Onsen water—and each of us soaked separately in these wonderfully spacious baths. Everyone was truly impressed. We also tried all of Kotone’s baths; it was especially nice that you can go empty-handed for any of them. The meals were delightful both visually and in taste—multiple dishes with beautifully flavorful dashi—and we were deeply impressed. Even through dessert, we could feel the careful attention to every detail. It was everyone’s first time at Ogoto Onsen as well, but they all said they definitely want to come back. Since I organized this trip for them, they thanked me warmly too. Thank you very much for your wonderful hospitality.

    Disappointing sake.

    It had been a while since I last stayed in a Standard Room, but everything was perfectly fine, and I was able to relax as usual. The food was delicious as always, but unfortunately the chef’s recommended selection of sake was no longer available. I always looked forward to enjoying great food paired with sake, so this was very disappointing. I’m sure there are various reasons, but I sincerely hope it will be brought back. Thank you again for taking care of me on this visit.

    The Onsen is amazing.

    We used your property for my parents’ trip this time. The Onsen water was gentle and silky on the skin, leaving it smooth—absolutely wonderful. It was the best Onsen destination we’ve visited in recent years. We are truly grateful for the warm welcome from all the staff and for your thoughtful care in every way. Thank you very much.     Continuous sensitivity

    From the very beginning, I felt the hospitality was wonderful. When I went to the Room, I was amazed by all the welcome services. The bath was also excellent. Best of all was the food. I was impressed throughout!! The seasoning was outstanding, and the presentation was beautiful. I would definitely love to stay again. Thank you.

    Meticulous attention to every detail.

    Thank you for everything. My weekend plans opened up, so I looked for an Accommodation nearby. It seemed a room had just become available, so I made a Reservation through IKYU. The Room was compact, but we were able to use the private bath and stay at a very reasonable price. I even looked up at the ceiling—there were no cobwebs, and I was happy to see how clean and well maintained everything was. There are four Onsen baths, and towels were provided in each bathing area, so we could use them without worrying. The water felt wonderfully moisturizing. In every bath and in the Room, POLA skincare products for both men and women were provided—I was impressed by the attention to detail. Dinner was more than we could finish (though everything we tried was delicious). In the morning, my husband—who prefers bread—was happy to find bread at the buffet, while I enjoyed a Japanese-style breakfast with plenty of side dishes. We both had a relaxing stay. Even after returning home, it felt like an Accommodation we would love to visit again. If we have the chance, we would definitely like to come back. The Room also had delicious financiers and rice crackers waiting for us. The only small disappointment was that there was just one rice cracker—even though it’s my favorite (sorry!). Also, I was impressed by Yumotokan’s sturdy hand towels—they could be rinsed out and reused many times for wiping down the table. It feels almost wasteful to treat them as disposable. Sorry for writing so much—it truly felt like more than worth the price.

    I visited again afte...

    I visited again after a long time and was satisfied overall. Check-in was smoother than before, and I was glad to get to my Room quickly. However, it took quite a long time for the first dish to arrive after we were seated, and the service remained slow afterward, so I would like to see this improved. Also, the lounge at night was dark, and the snacks were not well lit, making them hard to pick up. There were many overseas guests speaking loudly for a long time, so I hope the lounge can be a bit quieter.

    Dinner was served on...

    Dinner was served on beautiful tableware, and every dish was thoughtfully prepared with flawless flavor. I have stayed at many luxury Ryokan, and this was my favorite cuisine. The view from the Room’s open-air bath was wonderful and very relaxing. Soaking in the footbath in the lounge while enjoying the beautiful scenery was also excellent.

    Lake Biwa Emerald Green

    It was a very thoughtful Accommodation. In the sauna, I became friends with a traveler from Greece who was enjoying the Accommodation in the same spirit. Thank you for allowing us to relax so much during Japan’s busy Golden Week. All of the staff were refined and professional. We would love to stay again.

    We were satisfied with both the meals and the bath.

    We stayed for two nights over a holiday with three generations of our family. Dinner on both nights was a succession of carefully prepared dishes—everything was truly wonderful, and we enjoyed it with both our eyes and our taste buds (trusting the IKYU Review was the right choice!). The breakfast buffet was also delicious, with no items running out. The baths switch between men and women late at night, so even with just one night you can enjoy them all. Towels are provided in each bath area, and it was very comfortable to always have fluffy towels available. The water seemed to be alkaline, with a pleasantly silky feel, and even in the open-air bath there was no noticeable chlorine smell. There were water dispensers everywhere as well. Our family’s favorite feature was the sound of the stone in the private bath; the calm atmosphere made it especially appealing. All staff members were cheerful and efficient. In a few moments, explanations felt somewhat scripted, and I think an extra personal touch would make the hospitality even better. That said, there’s no doubt this is an Accommodation I can recommend, and we would love to return. Thank you very much for taking care of us.

    Isn’t there none?

    I’m very fond of Yumotokan’s “Hanare Yoshia” and consider myself a frequent guest. Handover notes are always properly shared, and the staff’s service is excellent, so I always enjoy a comfortable stay. However, since the new luxury floor was introduced, it feels as though the service has declined. The massage chairs are gone, the lounge has become more crowded, and guests staying on the luxury floor used to receive an extra dish at dinner, but that service seems to have ended without notice. I posted this Review regarding the breakfast buffet. First, refills are slow (this is something I have felt for some time). In addition, when I asked for an empty dish to be refilled, I was told flatly, “It’s already finished,” even though it was still within the scheduled hours. That doesn’t seem acceptable. If that is your policy, could you please state on your website that items may end once they run out? I would appreciate your prompt attention and improvement going forward.

    I really enjoyed the different open-air baths, each with its own unique atmosphere. The kaiseki cuisine featuring certified Omi beef was also delicious and very satisfying. The service from the younger staff was excellent and left a great impression.

    Repeat

    After an amazing stay last year, I returned almost a year later. The Room, the service, and the food are all excellent. Personally, when I stay in a Room with a private open-air bath, my criteria are: (1) being able to choose a colored yukata, (2) amenities, (3) lounge access or complimentary drinks, (4) a footbath, and (5) dining in a private room. This Ryokan has it all, so it’s outstanding. The Onsen is wonderful as well, and the detached annex is quiet and very relaxing.

    I’d love to stay here again.

    When we learned that our beloved dog, who is turning 13, was ill, we wanted to travel together. We chose this property because we could stay with our dog throughout the building, and the in-room bath was an Onsen. The hot water warmed us up and felt wonderful, and above all the meals were delicious—we were completely satisfied. My daughter, our dog, and I had a truly enjoyable stay. Thank you to all the staff for your warm hospitality and wonderful smiles.

    We highly recommend the Relaxation Room [Hakuraku]!

    The exterior feels old-fashioned—like a traditional Ryokan Hotel—but the staff who came to greet us ran over in the rain with an umbrella for guests, giving us a wonderfully warm and courteous welcome. On departure as well, a staff member who was waiting for the sightseeing bus kindly spoke to other guests too—and even gave us candy. Once we stepped into the lobby, my impression changed completely. It’s an impressive, well-funded design. There are paintings on the elevator ceilings, display shelves throughout the corridors, and most of the ikebana arrangements use fresh flowers—truly lovely. Our Room “Hakuraku” was also excellent: a unique, thoughtfully designed layout and very clean. You can watch the in-room TV from the bathtub angle, and there’s even a chair for foot baths. The bed is set directly on a mattress base, with a stylish wide floor chair provided, plus audio equipment as well. The food was outstanding from start to finish. Even my companion—usually picky, loves fast food, and doesn’t like course meals—praised it (rare for them) and happily ate everything. Dinner was served in a private room with dedicated staff: friendly with just the right amount of conversation, then leaving you to relax. Though he was a young man, his service was flawless as hospitality goes. As an Onsen lover, I found the water quality not particularly special; however, I was very satisfied with both: the beautiful view from the top-floor open-air bath (sunrise is especially recommended), and the atmospheric charm of the spacious rock bath. Service was attentive throughout by every employee. It’s rare to find an Accommodation where this level of pleasant “everyone serves” hospitality is so consistently practiced—so it deserves full marks.

    Very satisfied again.

    Thank you for providing Shuttle Service to Hieizan-Sakamoto Station, where the Special Rapid train stops. I was able to relax in the private bath included as a Diamond benefit. The meals were thoughtfully prepared each time and delicious. The Nanzenji-style rice was also very tasty, but I would love to try the grated yam served with sashimi together with rice. The Room was clean and comfortable as well.

    It was a wonderful Accommodation. The spacious open-air bath on the 11th floor with a view of Lake Biwa and the open-air bath on the 5th floor surrounded by trees and stone were both excellent. There are also large public baths and private baths, so it didn’t feel very crowded.\nThe in-Room open-air bath was also enjoyable, with thoughtfully designed latticework that still allowed a view of the lake.\nThe food was delicious, and we were able to relax and savor it in a private dining room.\nThis time we spent most of our time sightseeing, so our stay felt too short—we really wished we could have stayed longer, and we’d love to stay again.

    We enjoyed both the in-room bath and the private bath. However, the meals and service were not a good fit for us. In particular, perhaps because there were many international guests, we felt the dining experience prioritized presentation over flavor. Thank you for your hospitality.

    I’d love to stay here again.

    For our generation, Ogoto Onsen didn’t always have the best reputation—but we were completely wrong! The food, service, and Room were all excellent, and both the Facility and the Onsen were wonderful. Great value for money as well. Just a one-hour drive from Osaka, it was an Accommodation we were truly satisfied with. We’ll be back again.

    We enjoyed the delicious meals. The flavorful broth was especially memorable. The bath was a bit disappointing, as the view from the bathing area was partially blocked by a seaside Ryokan building. The staff’s hospitality was also excellent. Thank you very much.

    Reliable and reassuring “Hanare Yoshiachi.”

    Including “Dog Villa Bettei Akai,” this was my sixth stay. This time, I chose “Hanare Yoshia” because a new Luxury Floor has been added after a renovation. Until now, the only drawback of “Hanare Yoshia” was the view from the Room, but the view from the “Hanare Yoshia Luxury Floor” is excellent. I was able to see a stunning sunrise from the in-room open-air bath. As always with “Hanare Yoshia,” the lounge is convenient to use, the staff’s hospitality is outstanding, and the meals are consistently reliable. Dinner in particular exceeds expectations every time—I’d even say it’s worth staying just for dinner. I will definitely stay again.
