    Celebration of the 80th Birthday

    I stayed to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday. I was able to spend a relaxing time. The food and the onsen were both good. I would like to stay again.

    A truly wonderful time!!

    The private open-air bath in the room was absolutely amazing, and I enjoyed it until the very last moment before check-out!! The dinner had so many dishes that I couldn't finish them all; perhaps one less dish would still be more than enough. I couldn't try all the baths, so I would love to come back for a second chance!!

    I was able to spend a relaxing time.

    1/19-20 Stays. Room 513. We visited the property to honor my late father-in-law, who dearly loved this place. Checked in at exactly 2 PM. The property is very clean from the entrance. We reserved dinner at 6 PM and immediately started exploring the baths within the property. All the baths are clean and provide a pleasant atmosphere. The open-air bath in the room was also delightful. It was appreciated that the room's refrigerator offered free drinks after the bath. The next morning, we started exploring the baths within the property early again. It was an onsen indulgence. The quality of the spring water was comparable to Gero Onsen Yunoshimakan and the local Soni Kogen Okame no Yu. For the breakfast buffet, my wife had Western cuisine, and I had Japanese cuisine. The hospitality of the staff is also excellent at this property. Even my critical wife was very pleased with the property. We will visit again soon.

    A property with delicious meals.

    We had a wonderful stay as a couple. The room was compact yet fully equipped, making it very comfortable. The onsen's water quality was excellent, leaving our skin smooth. The private bath (we used the Stone Sound) was the best bath. The meals were creatively prepared, truly delicious, and the presentation was visually enjoyable. The staff were all kind, making our stay pleasant. It's a property we would love to stay at again. Thank you for taking care of us.

    Thank you for your hospitality. I was very satisfied with the Room and the bath. The meals looked wonderful and the seasoning was delicious, but it was disappointing that the dishes were served cold, especially the fried foods and meat. If you know it's a busy time, I would appreciate it if you could consider the timing of serving and ensure that hot dishes are served hot. However, I felt that this is a Ryokan I would like to visit again.

    I visited for the first time through a friend's recommendation, and I was very satisfied with the bath, the food, and the room! Also, the driver who provided the shuttle service from the station and the lady who served us during dinner and breakfast were very kind and pleasant, which made me very happy. The disappointing point was when the lady who first guided us to the room was told, "I came because I heard it was a good property through a friend's recommendation," she reacted with a "Hmm, so what?" attitude and showed no reaction. Additionally, there was no smile or important emergency exit guidance, which was very disappointing. I thought it was necessary to study the minimum communication with customers. However, I was satisfied with other aspects, so next time I would like to visit for a relaxing multiple night stay.

    New Facility

    I stayed at "Karoi" for the first time. The room was smaller than "Kotone," where I stayed before, but the bath was more comfortable in terms of size and facilities. Additionally, the meal was a level above, with beautiful presentation, and I was very satisfied. Plus, with the use of the lounge, I could enjoy unlimited Häagen-Dazs ice cream and a foot bath, which provided a different experience from before. Yumotokan is constantly innovating and evolving, so I would like to explore it further for a while.

    It was the best place.

    We used the property to celebrate her birthday, and I wanted to surprise her, so I communicated with them several times before our stay. Their responses were very considerate, leaving a good impression even before we arrived. They promptly handled last-minute changes and ensured the surprise was successful on the day, which was truly impressive. The facility and room were very clean and well-maintained. There were so many onsen options that we couldn't try them all in one day, including open-air and private open-air baths, allowing us to relax thoroughly. Personally, I found the hot spring on the 5th floor, Yugenshoyou, to have excellent water quality, leaving my skin smooth after bathing. Dinner was served in a private room, providing a private dining experience. There were many dishes, including the famous Omi beef and Omi duck, and the local yuzu ale was superb. The service was courteous and heartwarming, enhancing our satisfaction. The room's bed-making was excellent, allowing for a restful sleep. Complimentary tea, coffee, and tea snacks were provided in the room, which was satisfying. Breakfast was a buffet style with both Japanese and Western dishes. There were freshly made rice balls, tempura, and egg dishes, offering a warm and fulfilling meal. Among them, the fresh yuba, sesame tofu fry, and dashimaki tamago were exquisite. In addition to fruits, there were cakes and Japanese sweets, making us full from the morning. We were seen off upon departure, making it a ryokan we truly want to visit again. We forgot the time and had a truly relaxing stay. Thank you very much.

    If there is another opportunity

    There were three types of baths, and including the open-air bath in the Room, we enjoyed four types. The water had a light and smooth feel. The meals were also very good. We took our time to enjoy, so we couldn't attend the lobby concert only held during Christmas, but we were satisfied. The service was very courteous. It was crowded during check-in, but other than that, it didn't feel like there were many people. It seems that they renew some part every year, and although it has been running for a long time, everything was very clean. I would like to use it again if I have the opportunity.

    This was one of my multiple visits. Overall, I was satisfied again this time, but it was disappointing that the Diamond benefits, such as the private bath, were forgotten at check-in, and I had to call the front desk. Also, the dinner service was slow, and the staff didn't come around often, which made me feel there might be a staff shortage. Nevertheless, the dinner, especially the meat, was delicious and satisfying! I would be happier if there were more types of bread at the breakfast buffet! I will visit again.

    I wanted to stay one more night.

    I stayed in a room with an open-air bath. The detached room had a private lounge that could be used until late, which was very nice. The drinks were plentiful, with many rare options, and I was pleased to find Haagen-Dazs ice cream available. The open-air bath on the 5th floor was excellent. The open-air bath in the room also had a great atmosphere, temperature, and cleanliness. However, since the room was on a lower floor, it was unfortunate that it was clearly visible from outside, which is why I deducted one star. They quickly provided a sheet for privacy, so in the end, I could enjoy the bath without worrying about being seen. The hotel (hoteru) also offered warm hospitality for our anniversary, which made us very happy. It's a great property, and I would consider returning. Next time, I plan to make a reservation for two nights to relax more.

    The food was delicious.

    Stayed with family. One of the pleasures was the meals. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious. One disappointing point: The hot soup was lukewarm. The bath has three large public baths for men and women, which switch in the morning and evening. The rooftop observation bath had a great view and felt the most like an onsen. The open-air bath in the room was a bit cold because too much wind was coming in, so I thought it would be nice to have a transparent acrylic board. It was disappointing that there was no replenishment of ice cream in the lounge, and it was gone when I wanted to eat it. Shouldn't it be replenished when it runs out? Overall, it was good!

    Stays with elderly parents

    I stayed with my parents in the newly renovated luxury floor to celebrate my father's 90th birthday. The view from the corner room on the 10th floor was excellent, and we were able to see the sunrise with good weather. We enjoyed both the open-air bath in the room and the large public bath. The cuisine was Japanese, but with a Western twist, such as eating sashimi with cheese and olive oil. The collaboration of the dishes and the presentation was not only beautiful but also delicious, and even my mother, who has recently lost her appetite, finished it all. The lounge was calm, allowing us to relax and have a healing stay while also taking care of my parents.

    I definitely want to visit again!

    I love onsens and want to stay in a room with an open-air onsen bath at least once a month, so I was surprised to find such a good hotel nearby. Whether I return to a property depends on four things: the quality of the onsen, the comfort of the room, the meals, and the hospitality of the staff. The open-air bath in the room was spacious, well temperature-controlled, and very comfortable. Dinner at the private dining room was excellent, with fresh fish that had no fishy smell and Omi beef that was absolutely delicious. Above all, the coordination between the dining staff and the chef was remarkable. My spouse and I eat quite quickly, and we usually have to wait for the next dish. However, the dishes were served at a good pace throughout, and I was impressed that the dining staff had clearly communicated our fast eating pace. As for the breakfast buffet, I usually don't have high expectations, especially after a good private dining experience, but each dish was carefully prepared and delicious. The rice was cooked in small batches like at dinner, making this a buffet I'd definitely want to enjoy again. Although I felt a bit lacking in the quality of the onsen and the welcome and farewell, the convenience of not having to travel far, combined with the comfortable room and delicious meals, makes me want to stay at this property again in the future.

    I became smooth-skinned with the beautifying hot spring.

    We stayed in a room with a private open-air bath. The water was at a comfortable temperature and felt great. After soaking for a while, my skin felt smooth, and I later learned it was known as a beauty-enhancing bath, which made sense. The room amenities included Sekkisei and L'Occitane products, and I took the L'Occitane shampoos home. The meals were all delicious and just the right amount. However, it took about two hours, which made the time afterward a bit rushed. I'm not used to leisurely dining, so a slightly faster pace might have been better. Breakfast was a buffet, and everything was delicious, especially the soy milk bread, which I loved. Although I'm a bread person, the rice looked delicious too, and I had some Omi rice. The rice in the dinner's mixed rice was also really tasty. The drinks and ice cream in the room and lounge were a nice touch. I deducted one star because it was hard to figure out how the three buildings were connected. I suppose it's my fault for not understanding. Every year, I stay at various properties for my birthday month. This year, I had informed them in advance about my 60th birthday celebration, and during the meal, they prepared a red vest for me and offered to take a photo. I appreciated their thoughtfulness. It was a memorable stay at the property.

    Relax at Hanare Karoi

    Stayed at Karoi for the first time in two years. Dinner was beautifully presented with attention to the dishes and ingredients, and it was delicious. I appreciate the effort to accommodate allergies and disliked ingredients based on previous registrations without having to mention them. This time, I chose the newly introduced buffet style for breakfast, but it felt like there were fewer options. Unfortunately, the lounge often ran out of coffee cups, and there was no water to make coffee. The overseas guests in groups were lively, making it difficult to relax. The same was true for the bath. Some guests were troubled by missing sweaters. However, Karoi is recommended because you can relax in the onsen in your room, and the drinks in the room's refrigerator are free. The staff are very pleasant, and I love this hotel. Thank you very much.

    I stayed with my elderly parents. We enjoyed a luxurious time soaking our feet in the footbath while toasting with beer. The open-air bath in the room was spacious, and the view of Lake Biwa while soaking in the bath was superb. The meals were all elaborate and very delicious. It was a bit disappointing that the wicker chair in the room had no cushion, making it uncomfortable to sit for long, but overall, I was very satisfied! We had a comfortable stay. I would like to visit again. Thank you very much.

    Japanese-style room with open-air bath terrace and twin beds [Non-smoking]

    When I was guided to the room I reserved, I immediately confirmed it, thinking it was a regular twin room due to a hotel assignment error. It was only then that I realized there are two types: a spacious type with a Japanese-style living room separate from the twin room, and a single room type where the sofa and table are combined with the twin room. There seemed to be two rooms of each type on the 5th and 6th floors. The website only features photos of the former type, and usually, there is no image of a room like the latter. Even when I inquired beforehand, there was no particular explanation. Suspicious, I had them show me the two types on the spot, and they were clearly different rooms. By then, the hotel was fully booked, and there was no choice but to endure. I still have the impression of staying in a twin room and can't shake the feeling of having lost out. Upon closer inspection of the website, it only states "There are two types," but there is still no specific guide article about the differences. If this type of room at this hotel turns out to be the latter, you might end up disappointed after check-in like I did, so you need to be very careful when making a reservation.

    Excellent value for money

    The room with an open-air bath was excellent. Exploring the baths within the facility was also enjoyable. The dinner was exceptionally good, especially the meat that was like a mini steak. The crane game in the basement had weak springs and wasn't adjusted, so I was able to get a lot. The only disappointment was the view from the room. This is due to the location, so it can't be helped... On the west side of Lake Biwa, it's here. On the east side, it's Biwafront Hikone. Thank you for a fun and comfortable time.

    It was my first stay at Karoi in a while. As always, it was a highly satisfying stay. Despite the recent rise in prices, there was no increase in the Accommodation Fee, and the level of service was maintained, which I think is wonderful. However, as a repeat guest of Karoi, I felt that the quality of the meals had slightly declined, so I rated it 4 stars. If it were my first stay, it would definitely be 5 stars. That being said, I will be staying again in April. Thank you in advance.

    I have stayed with my family before. This time, I stayed with a close friend. The private bath was beautifully designed, reminiscent of a cave, and there was also a round Shigaraki-yaki bath outdoors. The water was silky, leaving my skin smooth after bathing. The meals were very delicious, and although breakfast was buffet-style, many freshly prepared dishes were offered. The tempura was crispy, and the rice balls were small, about the size of tenmusu, allowing us to enjoy a variety of flavors. The amenities were not particularly abundant, but since everyone brings their own, I don't think it's a problem. I would like to visit again with my family next time.

    I had a great stay.

    It was better than I imagined. I stayed with my dog, and they asked about allergies or things we might not like, including for the dog (fortunately, we had none), and during our stay, they provided just the right amount of attention (neither too indifferent nor too intrusive), making me likely to become a repeat guest.
