    We are delighted to ...

    We are delighted to provide L'Occitane skincare set pouches. Additionally, the shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion are also from L'Occitane, and we love the fragrance. During the hot season, we noticed some insects entering the Room, which was a bit concerning.

    It was the best stay.

    We stayed here to celebrate my elderly mother's birthday. The room was upgraded, and we were treated to champagne service during dinner, making it an absolutely wonderful stay. Every staff member provided warm and heartfelt hospitality. We were especially touched by the kindness of the bus driver on our way back, who shared so much helpful information with us. The exceptional Onsen, delicious meals, and outstanding service truly rejuvenated us. We will definitely stay here again!

    Wonderful Onsen and Meals

    The kaiseki meal was great, but reserving the private dining room "Kotone" turned out to be an excellent choice. Except for visiting the private onsen and shopping for souvenirs, we stayed in our room and fully enjoyed the onsen and meals.

    Overall, I was satisfied.

    I stayed at the accommodation on my way back from Osaka. While there were no major complaints about the service, I felt there was a noticeable variation depending on the staff. During my stay at Yashiroi, the check-in explanation was thorough regarding how to use the lounge but lacked details such as taking yukata from the lounge, towels being available in the room's washbasin area, or towels provided in the public bath. The male staff member who assisted during dinner provided excellent service. He even apologized for a minor issue with a private bath before dinner (though it wasn’t necessary), which showed good communication among staff members. The interaction during dinner was also very enjoyable. However, breakfast service by another staff member left something to be desired. While I was still eating my salad, other dishes were cleared away quickly, which felt inappropriate for this type of accommodation. Additionally, they brought me an incorrect drink after breakfast (a small mistake I didn’t point out), further leaving a negative impression. The meals were all delicious—especially dishes featuring dashi like shrimp shinjo soup and egg rolls with sauce in the morning. The grilled fish stood out; isaki had a wonderfully roasted aroma and hamo was perfectly seared with an enticing fragrance. The rice was carefully selected and tasted amazing; it’s unfortunate that I couldn’t eat much of the unagi rice at dinner due to being full. I was satisfied with my room overall—particularly its open-air bath which had ample space and featured Towada stone (?) inside for comfort along with great views from the bath itself. Although I enjoyed both private and public baths, my husband found our room’s bath so satisfying that he didn’t visit the public one. Despite some minor issues mentioned above, we were overall very satisfied with our stay and plan to return next time with other family members!

    Sisters' Girls' Night Out

    During my previous stay, I enjoyed the lounge very much, so I visited again with my sister. The meals were delicious, and we had a relaxing time in a private room. The room was spacious and comfortable; however, the open-air bath in the room felt a bit small compared to the overall size (sufficient for one person though), which was slightly disappointing. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay with great conversations and delicious food. I look forward to visiting again if I have the chance. Thank you very much!

    Hanare Yashiroi

    The detached Room features an Onsen, allowing you to relax while enjoying a view of Lake Biwa. Additionally, the detached area includes a private lounge stocked with various beverages, including a rich and delicious peach juice. The ice cream provided was Haagen-Dazs. The lounge offers a serene atmosphere with a foot bath nearby for added relaxation. Both dinner and breakfast were served in semi-private rooms, where we enjoyed delicious sashimi and meat dishes. The red konjac served during dinner was so tasty that we bought some as souvenirs to take home. Pickles from Shiga Prefecture are particularly delightful. Thanks to the Diamond benefits, we also had access to the private bath "Ki no Ka." The rock bath had a wonderful ambiance and provided a tranquil experience. At checkout, we received some delicious corn dressing as a gift, making this trip truly memorable. As summer approaches, please take care of yourselves and stay well!

    The panoramic public bath does not offer a view of Lake Biwa.

    It was a very nice accommodation. However, one point of disappointment was that the view of Lake Biwa could not be enjoyed while soaking in the large public bath. In the onsen indoor bath in the room, you can see Lake Biwa even while soaking in the water, so perhaps with some design adjustments, it might be possible to enjoy a view of Lake Biwa from the top-floor open-air large public bath as well.

    It was my first time...

    It was my first time staying here. I had heard from an acquaintance that the food was excellent, so my expectations were high! My friends, who came from afar, were also very satisfied and left happy. The restaurant staff and receptionists all provided service with smiles and kindness, making it a pleasant stay. I was especially impressed by the tenderness of the Omi beef and the deliciousness of the Omi rice. The menu, including breakfast, showed creativity and highlighted local specialties. Additionally, the bath offered a stunning view of Lake Biwa, allowing us to fully enjoy the charm of an open-air bath. I definitely want to visit again!

    For the first time in 20 years

    I visited this accommodation 20 years ago with my husband and thought it was a wonderful place, so I decided to return after all these years. Unfortunately, my husband passed away in February this year, so I couldn't come with him. However, I brought my mother and a photo of my husband to visit Yumotokan again. The delicious meals and the beautiful open-air bath were just as amazing as they were 20 years ago! Thank you for your hospitality! This is definitely an accommodation I would love to visit again!

    The breakfast buffet was excellent.

    I stayed in May, and when I first entered the breakfast venue, it seemed simple with limited options. However, upon closer look, everything was handmade and delicious. Dishes were served with a cheerful "Thank you for waiting!" The freshly made tempura was excellent, and the mini rice balls were easy to eat. The bread selection also appeared modest at first but included delightful options like milk bread, focaccia, and mini melon bread—all of which were genuinely tasty. Compared to another hotel's breakfast that has become less impressive over time, this buffet provided much greater satisfaction. I regret not choosing this place during my previous stay elsewhere.

    A Ryokan that always guarantees complete satisfaction.

    After 1.5 years, I stayed at this Ryokan again, and it remains as comfortable as ever. I always stay in the semi-suite twin room with an open-air Onsen bath in "Hanare Yashiroi," where I can relax every time. The lounge offers a variety of drinks, including alcohol, showcasing their guest-first service. They even have about six flavors of Haagen-Dazs ice cream, which is a nice touch. The staff's hospitality is always pleasant and reflects high-level training comparable to that of a luxury Hotel, making the stay very comfortable. A delightful change this time was the lounge offering potage soup in the evening and red wine, white wine, amazake, and Budweiser at night on the counter until late hours without prior notice—a thoughtful surprise. This truly is a wonderful Ryokan that makes you want to stay forever. The meals—both dinner and breakfast—are delicious and visually enjoyable experiences. It usually rains when I visit Yumotokan; however, this time it was sunny so I could enjoy the large public bath comfortably. While it's often rainy with disappointing views (about 90% of my visits), this time I could see starry skies which made me very happy. Thank you so much for another great experience! I'll make another Reservation soon; please take care of me again then!

    It was a very lovely accommodation.

    It was my first trip to Hikone. My main destinations were Hikone Castle and Enryakuji Temple on Mount Hiei, so I chose this accommodation with care. I decided on a detached room. The lounge exclusively for guests staying in the detached rooms, the room itself, and even the amenities were all highly satisfying. Dinner featured fresh ingredients, with every dish beautifully presented and deliciously seasoned. Of course, the hospitality of the staff was also exceptional. I would love to stay here again when visiting Shiga and have already recommended it to my friends. Thank you for a wonderful time and for taking such good care of us!

    I stayed for one night and two days, and the Hotel staff's service was exceptional. The Onsen was wonderful, and I was impressed by the free all-you-can-drink alcohol in the lounge. I definitely want to stay here again. Looking forward to visiting again!

    The staff provided excellent service starting from the parking lot, ensuring a comfortable and reassuring experience throughout our stay. The Onsen alternates between male and female baths depending on the day, offering options such as open-air baths or panoramic outdoor baths with a stunning view of Lake Biwa. We enjoyed multiple visits to the Onsen during our stay, which was truly relaxing. Dinner was exceptional in flavor, with a satisfying variety of dishes and generous portions. The chef's hospitality was evident in every detail of the meal. Overall, it was an incredibly satisfying experience for my wife and me to relax and be taken care of here. We would definitely love to return again!

    Second visit to Karoi

    Hanare Karoi is truly impressive in every way. This time, I visited for my birthday. During dinner, they kindly served celebratory champagne, and the gentleman in charge provided exceptional and courteous service. When I spoke with him at checkout, I learned he was a seasoned professional—truly fitting for such an established Hotel. Next time, I plan to visit for my husband's birthday, so I look forward to your hospitality then!

    This is my third stay, and my first time in Karuizawa.

    I had stayed at Kotone before, but this time I chose Karoi. As a Diamond member, I saw that a spa and esthetic discount was available, so I made a Reservation in advance, but the discount was not applied... The Reservation process is also hard to understand. I enjoyed the Onsen in my Room, the private bath, and the large public bath. The meals were different from what I had at Kotone and were delicious, but dinner ended up being at the same time as a group of male guests who talked and laughed very loudly, which made it feel like an izakaya and left me a bit disappointed.

    I had a great stay.

    This was my third stay at Karoi. Although I had some disappointments during my second stay (service, meals), I decided to give it another try and was satisfied this time. The lounge has improved with limited-time offerings of soup and wine, as well as an increased variety of ice cream. Since I’m not a fan of buffets, being able to choose a Japanese-style breakfast was a pleasant option. Both the quality and quantity of the meals were satisfying. For the first time, I learned that the temperature of the room bath could be adjusted; previously, I endured hot water without knowing this. The staff in charge of the lounge and dining were polite and friendly. However, the parking attendants and outdoor guides were disappointing. When we arrived at the entrance by car and asked where to park, one guide simply said, "Please ask that parking attendant," then quickly took my luggage inside alone without assisting further. The parking attendant showed no intention of approaching us either. Left with no choice, we went over to him ourselves to ask where to park; only then did he pull out a list and ask for our name—very unprofessional behavior for someone who creates guests' first impressions upon arrival by car. The guide could have at least signaled or spoken directly with the parking attendant instead of leaving us confused outside while they moved on so quickly into their tasks indoors! While all indoor staff members provided attentive service throughout our stay—the outdoor team fell short significantly. Additionally: pajamas provided smelled unpleasantly strong (possibly due aging-related odors?) making them unusable during rest hours. Overall though despite these issues mentioned above—I remain satisfied overall!

    I stayed with my husband and had a wonderful time. The private open-air bath was lovely, allowing us to relax completely. The onsen left our skin feeling smooth and was absolutely amazing! The kaiseki dinner was delicious, especially the rice cooked in an earthen pot—it was perfect! Breakfast at the live kitchen featured hot dishes like omelets and nodoguro tempura, which were incredibly tasty. The staff were exceptional, making this accommodation one that we, as frequent travelers and Diamond members, are already planning to visit again. Highly recommended!

    Second visit this year (4th stay)

    This was my second stay this year. As with the first time, I enjoyed a multiple night stay at Karoi. A different luxury room was prepared for me this time, making it a comfortable 2-night, 3-day stay. The private lounge was delightful, and the room was clean. For the multiple night stay, towel replacements and amenity restocking were handled smoothly with consideration for privacy. All staff members were kind and attentive, showcasing excellent hospitality. The dining area was near the kitchen at a table seat, offering a variety of seasonal ingredients and luxurious items like homemade caviar that left me satisfied. However, being seated near the kitchen meant overhearing staff reprimands which created an unfortunate tense atmosphere. Additionally, I noticed that the meal on the second day closely resembled what I had during my previous visit's second day; also, there were discrepancies between some dishes served and those listed on the menu—this too felt disappointing. Perhaps there is a fixed menu for multiple night stays? As someone who values meals highly during stays, this left some regret. Even so, I felt more than satisfied given its value and had an enjoyable experience overall; I plan to visit again in the future! Despite challenges such as rising costs or labor shortages these days—I truly appreciate your efforts and will continue to support you moving forward!     Relax with a feast and Onsen

    We chose Yumotokan for a family trip to celebrate my father's birthday, where we could enjoy delicious Omi beef and relaxing Onsen. We tried all the Onsen options, including the open-air baths and private baths! The private bath with stone design had a calm atmosphere, and the panoramic open-air bath offered a stunning view of Lake Biwa. You need to climb stairs to access it, but there are handrails, so even my elderly mother could manage comfortably. The open-air bath on the 5th floor was spacious with a rock-style design; we used it at night when the indirect lighting created a wonderful ambiance. The men in our group also praised it highly after using it in the morning! The private Onsen in our Kotone Room was always filled with hot water and available anytime. We brought mixed juice and drinks from the room's refrigerator to enjoy while relaxing by the table near the bath. One minor issue regarding facilities: there wasn’t any basket or container for used robes or towels near our room’s Onsen, which made us unsure where to place them. Also, controlling lighting was slightly inconvenient as indirect lights couldn’t be adjusted individually—this is why I’d deduct one point here. However, amenities were well-stocked for both men and women! The meals met our expectations perfectly. As expected of certified Omi beef—it was incredibly delicious! The course portions were generous; by the time we reached shabu-shabu with beef and sea bream, we were already full but managed to finish everything (with effort!). For sea bream rice cooked fresh during dinner service—they checked timing preferences carefully—which worked out great since we don’t drink alcohol much; requesting earlier serving turned out ideal for us. Staff provided cheerful yet attentive service that allowed us peaceful dining experiences throughout dinner sessions. Breakfast buffet offered plenty of variety—including freshly prepared tempura & omelets announced upon readiness—making timing easy when picking up dishes fresh off preparation lines. One suggestion regarding beverages: while juices had good variety available during breakfast hours—cold tea options weren’t directly accessible unless brewing hot tea bags then cooling manually over ice cubes instead having pre-chilled oolong-tea-like alternatives readily placed within drink stations would’ve been appreciated addition! Although building itself shows age externally—it has undergone renovations maintaining cleanliness alongside modernized interiors beautifully done overall impression remains positive entirely pleasant stay experience altogether! Next time—we hope trying detached accommodations nearby too!

    I had a relaxing time in the Room.

    Overall, it was a lovely accommodation, though there were a few disappointing aspects. Check-in coincided with peak hours, and the area was crowded with people, causing significant delays for the elevator. The staff member who guided us seemed tired and responded in a rather impersonal manner, which left us feeling slightly disheartened upon arrival. The KAROI lounge was accessible from early morning until late at night, which we appreciated. The onion soup was exquisite, and the footbath was very relaxing. However, when we were unfamiliar with the system of returning drinks to the designated space after use at the footbath area and asked if it could be left there temporarily, we were curtly told to return it ourselves. It felt unnecessarily critical as if we had intentionally ignored instructions despite not knowing them beforehand. Clear signage in the footbath area about returning items would have been helpful. The meals served in private rooms were delightful; experiencing transparent soy sauce for the first time was particularly memorable. The room itself featured an open-air bath that provided great comfort and relaxation; plus, having access to drinks from the refrigerator added convenience. When reserving a shuttle bus for our departure, we received discount tickets for Sakamoto Cable Car—this thoughtful gesture made us happy! During breakfast, we enjoyed corn dressing so much that upon completing a survey about our stay, they kindly gifted us some of this dressing—a lucky bonus! The shuttle drivers were all kind and courteous throughout our stay. While there were initial disappointments during check-in and other moments early on during our visit overall satisfaction prevailed by departure time—thank you for your hospitality!

    Thank you for taking care of us along with our pet.

    We stayed with our pet, and from check-in, both we and our pet were warmly welcomed. Meals were served in a private room where pets were allowed, and every detail was thoughtfully considered. The food was delicious; however, it was disappointing that we couldn't take the leftovers back to the room. It would have been nice if at least the rice could be made into onigiri to take away. The open-air bath was lovely, but transferring elevators to reach the 11th floor felt a bit far. All staff members were very pleasant, making our stay enjoyable. We would love to visit again!

    Unfortunately.

    As a returning guest, I used to visit this accommodation 2-3 times a year. This time, the staff at check-in asked if I needed guidance to my room. Previously, they would guide me to my room with my luggage without asking. Although I know the location as it’s always the same room, it felt like a lack of hospitality. The disappointing part was the meals. While I understand that breakfast has changed to a buffet style and was looking forward to it, the dishes didn’t have the usual excellent flavors that this accommodation is known for. The food labels only displayed dish names without any allergy information, and when I asked about the contents of fried items, staff simply said they didn’t know. Additionally, coffee cannot be taken back to your room nowadays. This makes me hesitant about visiting again; I might consider exploring other facilities in Ogoto Onsen. I do enjoy the onsen's water quality. However, when will the footbath in the open-air bath on the 11th floor be usable again? It has been out of service for quite some time now. Regarding facilities, it would be great if vending machines were available—especially for drinks and ice cream since there’s none currently available. Because of these issues, I've decided to lower my rating slightly.

    A serene and relaxing accommodation for adults to unwind and forget the time.

    I stayed at "Hanare Kyoroi" eight years ago, and this visit brought back even more nostalgic feelings. The Kyoroi Suite Moegi room on the top floor was newly renovated, spacious, and perfect for accommodation. The open-air bath in the room was also large, allowing for a relaxing soak both in the evening and morning, which was very satisfying. I also visited the Kyoroi Lounge, where I enjoyed alcohol, soft drinks, and ice cream in a quiet and perfectly relaxing space. The meals were delicious for both dinner and breakfast; however, I found there were many fish dishes at dinner that felt a bit overwhelming. The staff provided excellent service with a natural demeanor. I would love to visit again!

    Hospitality Accommodation

    We visited for our honeymoon. During dinner, my wife, who doesn't drink alcohol, ordered a soft drink while I ordered some alcohol. When the staff asked where we were visiting from today, I mentioned that we came to this onsen for our honeymoon. A little later, they brought us non-alcoholic champagne and said, "This is a celebration from the accommodation. Congratulations!" The staff were all very polite and made our stay pleasant. Our room had a semi-open-air bath with natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source. It was the perfect honeymoon experience! We will visit again!

    Unfortunately, this time didn't work out.

    I used to love staying here almost every month, but this time was disappointing. When we drove straight into the accommodation from the traffic light on the national road, a staff member immediately noticed and ran over. However, they completely ignored us and instead approached the car that entered right behind us at the signal, guiding them to a reserved parking space. We were left without any guidance, had to get out of our car ourselves, move a reserved sign on our own, and park. Even though they saw this happening, there was no acknowledgment from the staff. The people in the car behind us also looked puzzled by what was happening—it was an uncomfortable experience for everyone involved. Another staff member eventually came out to guide us inside; however, it left me feeling like we weren’t recognized as guests at all. As a result, I couldn’t relax as I usually do or enjoy my meal this time around. Next month’s stay is for celebrating a family birthday—I hope such incidents won’t happen again so we can fully enjoy our time here!

    It was an accommodation I would love to visit again and again!

    A wonderful Onsen accommodation. Perfect for those who love hot springs and want to bring their pets along. The room having its own Onsen was a great feature, and the staff adjusted the water temperature, making it pleasantly warm on hot days. There was also an adorable bathtub for pets, allowing us to enjoy the bath together, which was delightful. The room had high ceilings and a comfortable size with a cozy bed that made me fall asleep quickly—unfortunately missing out on watching the ceiling-mounted TV (a first for me!). Still, it was very relaxing overall. The indoor dog run was well-equipped, and we stayed longer than usual to enjoy it fully. The food was absolutely delicious, and since we dined in a private room, there were no distractions from barking dogs nearby; we could savor our meal in peace more than ever before. We’ll definitely visit again when it gets cooler!
