    I’ve stayed here many times with my dog.

    The guest room has an open-air bath and a bath for dogs, and if you order meals, you can also eat together in a semi-private room with the dog buffet, so you can stay with your dog the whole time and feel at ease. However, since the Accommodation does not provide dog shampoo or similar items, I forgot to bring it this time, so even though there was a bath available, I couldn’t shampoo my dog. I wished the Accommodation would provide disposable ones, but since shampoos may or may not suit different coat types, it might be difficult. Also, the dog run is indoors, but the windows cannot be closed and are left open all the time, so it gets cold even inside. Leaves blow in as well, and my dog doesn’t like the loud wind noise and didn’t play much. I did like that they decorate with seasonal costumes and decorations. I would be happy if they could also create an outdoor dog run. Overall, it’s clean with attentive service and easy to reach by car—an appreciated Accommodation for guests traveling with dogs.

    Second Stay at Karoi

    This was my second stay at Karoi. The room with an open-air bath had a well-thought-out layout of a bedroom, living room, powder room, and bathroom, making it very convenient to use. The bath in the room was slightly lukewarm in the morning, so I decided to use the shared bath instead. Along with the private family bath from the previous day, I enjoyed various types of baths. Both breakfast and dinner were beautifully presented without being overly elaborate and were absolutely delicious. The portions were just right. With the excellent lounge service as well, I genuinely felt like staying here again.

    A modern self-servic...

    A modern self-service style Ryokan. Guests are given the option to go to their Room on their own, and for dinner, if you don't clear your dishes yourself, staff rarely notice and take them away. It felt far from the traditional hospitality expected of a Ryokan. While the Ryokan itself is impressive, I felt that the staff service did not match its standard.

    A Ryokan with delicious cuisine

    I stayed at the Accommodation with lounge access. The room was compact but had a new and calming interior design. In addition to the lounge, footbath in the lounge, and the room itself, there were other relaxing spaces available, which was very appreciated. The four baths including those in the main building, the private bath as a Diamond benefit, and the open-air bath in the room all had excellent water quality with unique features to enjoy. The highlight was undoubtedly the delicious cuisine—it was truly impressive. Since it is a renovated old building and I visited during winter, I noticed that hallways and dining areas were slightly cold, and there was a faint smell typical of older buildings.

    Is there an issue with the quality of service?

    The staff worked hard, but: - We chose 7:30 PM for dinner, but dishes were served one after another even before we finished the previous course, making us feel rushed. While we managed to keep up as fast eaters, it would be quite challenging for others. The final dish was brought without asking about the timing, even though we were still enjoying drinks. It felt like an implicit message to "eat quickly and leave," which made it hard to enjoy a relaxed meal. If 7:30 PM is considered late, that option shouldn't be offered in the first place. - The free-flow alcohol at the detached lounge only included beer and cheap wine; there weren’t even spirits like highballs available. Spirits are essential as post-dinner drinks. Considering costs, instead of just offering mediocre beer options, they could at least provide canned highballs. In the Room minibar, there was only one can of White Horse highball provided; when I asked for more (even if paid), I was told "we don't do that" and directed to buy Suntory highball from the shop on the first floor instead. During a relaxing post-dinner time, I didn’t feel like going all the way through two elevators and long hallways to reach a shop in another building. It seems they don’t consider guests' feelings at all—services should reflect guest spending levels better!

    Highly satisfied!

    I booked this accommodation nearby for my husband's birthday. It was our first time visiting Ogoto Onsen, and we were unsure which accommodation to choose, but selecting this one was absolutely the right decision. The onsen water was excellent, and we enjoyed four different baths as well as a private bath. We also used the open-air bath in our room multiple times, making this trip all about enjoying the baths (laughs). The dinner was visually delightful with delicious flavors, and the staff's hospitality was impeccable. The rice, in particular, was so good that I ended up eating too much! My husband said it was the best place we've ever stayed at. The lounge offered a wide variety of drinks, and we treated ourselves to ice cream every time after bathing. We're already talking about staying here again soon!

    The hospitality is

    Upon arrival at the accommodation, guests are asked to wait for a long time after being seated. When staff finally arrived, they addressed me loudly by my name instead of using a more formal title, which was surprising. While it may not have been intentional, I felt it was inappropriate. The first impression was disappointing. Even after that, there were long waits to be guided to the room, for drinks during meals, at check-out, and even in the shuttle service where we waited in a cold vehicle. It almost felt like this accommodation is testing guests' patience with all the waiting involved. However, the guest rooms were excellent! The private open-air bath was amazing! The meals were outstanding! Especially the freshly cooked rice—it was exquisite. Before visiting this accommodation, I had heard from others that it is a high-class place and one of the best in this prefecture; however, my honest impression is that it did not quite live up to those expectations. I believe this could become an exceptional accommodation if staff operations improve significantly. Until then, I will refrain from revisiting.

    楽しい旅したい

    First Time at Ogoto Onsen

    The meals were delicious. Even for a couple with small appetites, the dishes were served at a good pace, and we enjoyed everything including dessert. The Onsen in the room, the public bath, and the private Onsen were all excellent. The breakfast was also great with Omi rice being so tasty that we had seconds. We will definitely visit again. Thank you very much!

    The service was excellent.

    Located just one road away from the lake on the mountain side, you can still enjoy views of Lake Biwa, and above all, the service was excellent. The meals were served as a course, and when we asked if we could order an additional serving of Omi beef because it was so delicious, they kindly accommodated one serving (we were happy since we thought it might not be possible, but it would have been even better if they could provide three servings for our group of three). Their effort to confirm and respond properly was appreciated. There was a minor issue with foaming beer, but their sincere efforts to address it were evident. My wife felt positively about their service, so at checkout, we left a tip addressed to the staff member who served us dinner.

    I was excited to stay here, knowing it is part of the same group as Matsunoura Villa where I stayed before, but there were some disappointing experiences. ① Although I had informed in advance and sent my luggage via courier, it was opened upon arrival. While I received an apology, it felt uncomfortable even though there was nothing sensitive inside. ② When I wore a haori coat because it was chilly, I found used socks inside. I'm not overly particular about cleanliness, but are these items not replaced every time? Additionally, the buffet being cold was disappointing; having warm soup or something similar would have been appreciated. What I did appreciate was being reimbursed for the shuttle taxi fare since I traveled by train.

    The staff's attentiveness, the spacious rooms, and the addition of a mist sauna to the Onsen made for a pleasant stay with no issues regarding the Facility. The meals were also delicious, making this Ryokan worthy of high praise. However, during check-in, I was informed that "there is no washing area in the open-air bath." As I have a habit of shaving in the washing area in the morning, I found this inconvenient. But upon visiting the open-air bath, there was indeed a washing area (likely an error in communication about "no indoor bath"). While shaving there, an Asian man entered and jumped into the bath without washing his body first. It would be helpful to display clear rules about washing before entering prominently in the bathing area.

    It was a lovely Room...

    It was a lovely Room with an open-air bath. In the lounge, we enjoyed beer and Häagen-Dazs while soaking our feet in the footbath, which was wonderful. Dinner was luxurious with dishes like caviar.

    It was an annual tri...

    It was an annual trip with my childhood friend. The meals were all delicious and brought great happiness. Breakfast was also fulfilling, leaving us satisfied and full! The Room had an open-air bath, allowing us to truly relax. Yukata is nice, but having samue would be even better.

    We stayed here to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. The facility was clean and well-maintained, with excellent decor and service. The fresh flowers on each floor were also lovely. We appreciated the various services and the cheerful congratulatory words from the young staff members. The meals have become even more delicious! The multiple baths, each with its own unique charm, were enjoyable as well. Thank you very much. We look forward to visiting again in a different season!

    A must-visit accommodation again

    We stayed for two nights with our Chihuahua and had a wonderful time. The room and Onsen were very clean and comfortable, making our stay enjoyable. We were delighted that dogs were allowed in the dining area, and the dog menu was luxurious. The staff were kind and attentive throughout our stay. The complimentary drinks, including Häagen-Dazs ice cream, available in the lounge and room left a great impression! Being able to use all the Onsen facilities, even those in dog-free areas, was especially appreciated (though we got a bit lost due to the complex layout but received help from the staff with a smile). This is an accommodation we would love to visit again. Honestly, it’s so good I almost don’t want to share it with others!

    I would love to stay here again.

    I stayed on the 10th floor of the detached building and was impressed by the high quality of the room, amenities, and onsen. The meals were delightful, with creative menus and preparations by the head chef that surprised and entertained us while being delicious. For breakfast, we chose the buffet, which included unique offerings like nodoguro tempura—something different from other hotels—and it was full of enjoyable surprises. Being able to enjoy all this at such a price is highly recommended. The hotel staff's hospitality was excellent as well; however, I found the shuttle bus service to JR station disappointing. Although I was told it would take five minutes after calling, it took longer than expected as they waited for guests arriving on a later train without prior explanation. If I had known in advance... Next time, I plan to take a taxi instead. Other than this issue with the bus service, it was truly an excellent accommodation where I'd love to stay again!

    Exceptional Hospitality

    We stayed at this accommodation for a family trip with my elderly mother. The staff's exceptional hospitality made our stay very pleasant. We were able to use a private bath as a complimentary service, and when we asked about recommended sightseeing spots upon departure, we received service tickets for those locations, which was incredibly thoughtful. For dinner, we had reserved a steak and shabu-shabu course. The portions were larger than expected, and while the food was delicious, it was unfortunate that we couldn't finish everything. However, the excellent service from the staff made the experience enjoyable. The room was impeccably clean, and the various open-air baths each had their own unique charm and were wonderful. It would have been even better if there had been a full-length mirror in the room. If given another opportunity, I would love to stay at this accommodation again!

    I have visited multiple times and always enjoy relaxing in the Onsen. The meals are stylish and delicious. The slightly silky Onsen is absolutely wonderful.

    This was my first visit to Ogoto Onsen. The staff were very kind and attentive—thank you so much. The Onsen had excellent water quality and was very relaxing. However, as the open-air bath is located in a residential area, I would appreciate a bit more privacy screening. Dinner was delightful, with delicious rice cooked in an earthen pot, fresh sashimi, meat and duck dishes, and a wide variety of tasty sake options. Breakfast featured freshly made rice balls and clearly labeled local delicacies from Shiga; while the selection was modest, it felt just right for me. That said, it seemed there might have been a staffing shortage as restocking wasn’t timely—I had to go back several times or missed out on some items altogether, which was unfortunate.

    The service was excellent, and the breakfast buffet had a wide variety of delicious options, which made me very satisfied. However, the lighting in the Hotel was too dim, which was inconvenient for someone like me with poor eyesight. That was the only disappointment. Thank you for your hospitality.

    It was excellent.

    Stayed over the weekend. Just a 1-hour drive from Osaka, the location offers excellent access while providing a getaway feel with stunning views of Lake Biwa. The building was very clean, and the staff's hospitality was exceptionally pleasant. The food was outstanding in both quantity and taste. It was an accommodation that makes you want to visit again!

    It was so relaxing!

    This accommodation is perfect for relieving daily fatigue. The onsen is very relaxing, and the lounge services were thoroughly enjoyable. The only drawback was the lack of a changing area in the private open-air bath in the room, but everything else was perfect. I would love to visit this accommodation again to relax.

    This time, we stayed to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary after a long while. Despite my wife's health condition worsening, the staff kindly provided medication even late at night.     A thoughtful accommodation with various considerations

    We had many concerns before the trip, such as traveling with elderly parents and dealing with various food preferences, but thanks to your thoughtful arrangements, all our worries were completely unnecessary. Thank you very much. My father, who has difficulty walking, could not go to the large public bath but thoroughly enjoyed the Onsen open-air bath in our room. My mother, who was concerned about her surgery scars after being discharged from the hospital, was able to relax in a private bath with us. My parents used to love traveling both domestically and internationally but had given up on trips recently due to difficulties with long-distance travel. This time, they were extremely happy. At arrival in the parking lot, you kindly minimized walking distances for us. During breakfast as well, you provided a cart for my father who has trouble walking. These thoughtful gestures were offered by your staff without any requests from us—thank you so much for your kindness and care. We truly appreciate all that you did for us during our stay!

    I have stayed several times.

    This time, the check-in and souvenir purchase were handled by younger staff, but they seemed inexperienced and it was somewhat disappointing. The meals were delicious. However, they didn’t ask about any ingredients I might not like, which was a bit confusing. I don’t think I will be returning.

    It was excellent.

    This was our first stay. We appreciate the thoughtful service, such as adjusting some dishes after informing you of our food preferences in advance. The view from the open-air Onsen was wonderful, and the Onsen itself was excellent. Above all, the hospitality was outstanding—staff at the parking lot, front desk, Room guides, dining staff, and shop attendants provided exceptional service. We would love to visit again.     I had a very relaxing time.

    Previously, I stayed at Yashiroi, so this time I decided to stay at Kotone. The Room's bath and the private bath were both very comfortable to use. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent in content, and since meals were served in the Room, I could enjoy them without worrying about others. One concern was that the BS channels could not be received on the Room's TV. However, as it was viewable in the bedroom area, I did not contact anyone about it. Additionally, while all the dishes were extremely delicious, I felt that the overall portion size was slightly too large. Regarding payment, there was some trouble processing my credit card due to it being a magnetic stripe card issued overseas; staff seemed unfamiliar with handling such cards. Since similar issues have occurred before, please consider sharing information on less common procedures among staff for smoother processing in future cases.
