    The Onsen is excellent.

We enjoyed using the private family bath this time, experiencing four different baths in total. The silky smooth hot spring water felt wonderful. Dinner was very delicious and satisfying, but breakfast, which used to be a set meal and was excellent, has changed to a buffet style and felt average, which was quite disappointing.

    The public bath is exceptional.

We stayed in a semi-suite with my husband, daughter, and 5-month-old grandchild. I was worried about traveling with the baby for the first time, but they provided a baby futon, diaper disposal bin, and even wet wipes for free, which was very helpful. There was also a baby yukata; it was slightly big but perfect for taking memorable photos. The drinks in the semi-suite's refrigerator used to be charged according to past reviews, but during our stay, they were complimentary and tasted great after enjoying the private open-air bath in our Room. There were several large public baths to explore, each with its own charm. The outdoor bath designed like a garden pond was especially relaxing and seemed enjoyable throughout all seasons. Both the Room and baths were impeccably clean.

I have used this place several times, but this time there were many disappointing aspects. Check-in took quite a long time, and it seemed like there was a shortage of staff. However, the male staff member during the meal service was very polite and perfect. I would love to be served by him again. I always look forward to the clay pot rice at dinner, but this time it was just plain white rice with pickles, and for two people, the portion felt small. We ended up eating just plain rice at the end—it felt more like breakfast than dinner, which was very disappointing. The fish served at breakfast was also quite small; I would appreciate it if these points could be improved.

The Onsen and the food were excellent.

It was my first time at Ogoto Onsen, and I arrived after some wandering. The nearby area was relaxing, and the Onsen made my skin smooth and felt wonderful! The food was also delightful, especially the appetizers. However, the meat portions felt a bit large for women.

    Everything exceeded expectations.

Not only the Onsen and room facilities, but also the quality of meals and timing of service reflected meticulous attention to detail, exceeding expectations.

    I was able to relax.

The view from the Room was not great, but the Room was spacious and allowed for a relaxing stay. The meals were delicious and satisfying. The staff provided hospitable service, even remembering our dog's name, which made for a very pleasant experience. However, it was disappointing that there were not many drinks or ice in the lounge when we visited at night, possibly due to lack of replenishment.

    The previous stay wa...

The previous stay was so wonderful that this is my second time staying here. I chose "Kotone" again, just like last time. I enjoyed the Room's Onsen as well as the open-air bath and large public bath in the facility, and I'm very satisfied. All of the large baths are spacious, with wide and clean changing rooms, and they were always empty whenever I went, allowing me to relax thoroughly. Last time, the meals were delicious too, so I was looking forward to them this time as well. However, there was one disappointing thing this time. When we started our meal, the server said it would take 30 minutes for the rice to cook and asked if they should start cooking it now. Since rice doesn't cool down immediately after cooking anyway, we agreed. After about 30 minutes passed, they informed us that "the rice is ready whenever you want." As we were still in the middle of our meal at that point, we didn't ask them to serve it into bowls yet. As our meal progressed (we weren't particularly slow eaters; in fact, quite fast), neither beef shabu-shabu nor any subsequent soup had been served yet. In such a situation where two dishes hadn't arrived yet either way—suddenly—they began serving rice into bowls for both me and my husband’s portions without asking first: “Isn’t this timing odd?” To which they replied: “Yes indeed,” followed by saying: “We will prepare your beef shabu-shabu now.” Then pickles along with miso soup were brought out too—it seemed like an ending course already—but since served-rice would get cold before having shabu-shabu itself—I ate mine beforehand instead. At that point—I expected hot tea being brought over—but none came whatsoever until after finishing up everything including dessert when finally requesting some myself—and even then—not receiving any apology either! Is tea something not provided unless specifically requested? Having stayed at various Properties before—this order felt entirely new—and wondering whether such sequence represents standard practice here? My memory recalls differently from last visit though... Despite good taste overall plus enjoyable Onsen experience—it remains unfortunate nonetheless!

We look forward to further improving our services at this excellent Onsen Property.

Thank you for your hospitality. I have stayed multiple times and considered it the best property. Recently, with the expansion of Karoi, the number of rooms increased from 10 to 21, and some renovations were made to dining areas and lounges. As someone familiar with Karoi before the renovation, I was truly satisfied with its image as a hidden retreat for adults and a place to enjoy Onsen at leisure. However, due to this expansion, while it's good for the property that more people are using it, I can't help but feel that the excellent service spirit has somewhat diminished compared to before. The meticulous attention previously given to guests seems slightly reduced, leading me to feel that quality has declined. The staff's hospitality, Onsen quality, and meal content are truly wonderful. However, it's unfortunate that individual attention has lessened due to an increase in guests being accommodated. I always chose Yumotokan (Yumotokan) because I wanted to enjoy an adult holiday in a quiet environment. Please continue being the Yumotokan (Yumotokan) you have always been; thank you very much.

Very good, but just a little.

The meals were delicious, but the portions were too large for me. The welcome was very good, but it would have been even better if there had been tea service upon arrival, and it was disappointing that the checkout process felt impersonal.

I wanted to ask the owner for their opinion.

I have stayed several times, but this time I had the opportunity to use the luxury floor at a great value, so I stayed with my husband who loves onsen. As expected from the renovated floor, we were able to relax in a room for two and enjoy the onsen open-air bath. The dining area was partitioned so that we could enjoy our meals leisurely and deliciously. Although it was my first time using the lounge and I couldn't have soup before dinner due to lack of timing information, I enjoyed Häagen-Dazs after returning from the large public bath or after meals (without waiting for a seat). The drinks such as beer and Biwako cider were plentiful (though only nuts and cookies were available as snacks), allowing us to fully enjoy our stay. Of course, we also enjoyed touring various onsens. My husband seemed to have a great time too, and if there is another opportunity, we would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

Property where you can stay with your dog

I have stayed at several properties where you can stay with dogs, and this one is the best. First, the room's bath is so comfortable that you can soak in it for a long time while watching over your dogs in the room. The lounge offers all-you-can-eat juice and Haagen-Dazs, allowing you to enjoy the luxury of ice cream while soaking in the onsen. You can always be with your dogs, so you can dine with peace of mind. The dog buffet also offers a variety of menus. There are several onsens in the main building as well, allowing you to enjoy a tour of different baths (while leaving your dogs behind...). The staff were very pleasant and kind.

The indoor open-air bath is wonderful.

I stayed in a room with an indoor open-air bath, and it was much better than it looked! The temperature and the quality of the spring were excellent. Although there wasn't much of a view outside, you couldn't be seen from outside either. You could enjoy a luxurious moment in the overflowing bathtub at night, midnight, or morning for even five minutes. The room had a large TV on the ceiling that could connect to YOUTUBE, allowing me to leisurely enjoy natural scenery as background music. The view from the room wasn't along Lake Biwa; instead, you could see buildings. However, you could also see distant mountain ranges during sunset and birds flying in the sky. You could even get a proper view of Lake Biwa in the distance. The parking was free, but when they saw my car, staff members ran out from the Ryokan with smiles to greet me near my driver's side window—this left a very good impression. Meals were served in a small room (without windows) just outside our Room where beef was grilled. Unfortunately, smoke filled up quickly and left its scent on our yukata and tanzen robes. Additionally, I found that I couldn't eat more than three slices because it was marbled beef which felt too greasy for me. While rice tasted good too; due to hygiene reasons leftover portions couldn’t be made into rice balls so having an early dinner meant feeling slightly hungry later at night. I requested massage reservations but despite repeated confirmations over phone calls by one of their female staff members only 15 minutes instead of originally planned 60-minute session got booked somehow leading myself needing further adjustments directly with masseuse afterward. Despite these issues mentioned above—the open-air bath within Room itself proved wonderful! Complimentary amenities like toiletries & drinks inside refrigerator made stay extremely comfortable overall making this Property highly recommendable especially if you're fond Onsen retreats seeking seclusion stays!

It’s pricey, but I’d love to stay at this Ryokan again.

Having an in-Room bath and in-Room dining was the ultimate luxury. The meals are served in a private dining Room separate from the bedroom, so odors don’t spread, and the attention to detail is excellent. Everything was impeccably clean—this is undoubtedly a top-tier Hotel. It was also great to have the chance to play billiards with my child for the first time. And we were surprised by the TV monitor on the ceiling! I’ve stayed at many Hotels, but this was a first-time experience. My child was thrilled (lol). The four Onsens each had their own unique style, and we enjoyed them all.

I was able to relax and enjoy my stay.

This is my second visit, and the food, Onsen, Room, and staff's hospitality did not disappoint; everything was wonderful. I was also pleased to be taken to the cable car on my way back. I would like to visit again when it gets warmer and I can see the entire Enryakuji Temple.

    I was able to relax!

This time, it's a girls' trip for two. The goal is to relax in the Onsen, enjoy delicious food, and nourish both the mind and body! In conclusion, we were able to spend our time leisurely and enjoyably! The open-air bath while watching the sunrise was also very nice! There are three baths; however, on the 5th and 11th floors, there are only open-air baths with few washing areas. The 8th floor has both indoor and open-air baths with many washing areas. Therefore, I think it's nice to just soak on the 5th and 8th floors! The water feels slightly slippery and seems good for your skin~! The staff were also kind and it was great!

    I was looking forwar...

I was looking forward to it, but it was very disappointing. There was hardly any explanation about the meals, and the cold appetizers were already placed on the table. The taste was too strong, and it was something you could eat at any ordinary restaurant. While I was still eating crab and hadn't even touched the sashimi, the staff asked me if I wanted red miso soup at least three times. It's obvious just by looking... The open-air Onsen bath wasn't cleaned regularly; there were no signs of skimming leaves or cleaning the changing room, making it dirty. In the morning, the open-air bath could be seen clearly from nearby houses. It wasn't relaxing at all, and I felt that for this price, it was way too disappointing. As for Ogoto Onsen itself (Ogoto Onsen), I will never go again.

    Annual trip

This was my first visit to Ogoto Onsen, Yumoto Ryokan. The surrounding area didn't have the typical onsen atmosphere, but despite the snow, there was a shuttle service to the station. The driver was very pleasant, and all the staff inside the ryokan were friendly. The room was very clean and gave a sense of cleanliness. The bath facilities were excellent, and I am extremely satisfied. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, making it a perfect trip. I would love to visit again.

The luxury class after the renovation was excellent.

It was a twin Room with an open-air bath on the 9th floor, offering a view of the lake from both the Room and the bath, where we could enjoy a very beautiful sunrise. The bath in the Room was reasonably spacious and comfortable, but the open-air bath on the top floor of the same building also had a great view and was enjoyable. Additionally, the amenities provided in the Room were modern, and the variety of free drinks available in the lounge and refrigerator was a pleasant touch. For breakfast, we chose the buffet in the main building, which was a bit disappointing. Considering how delicious the dinner was, we felt it might have been better to choose the Japanese set meal at the same restaurant. Also, due to the structure of the facility, moving to the "Hanare" required passing through the entrance of the main building, which slightly affected the rating. However, overall, it was a great experience, and I would like to stay here again if I have the chance.

    Satisfied with the luxurious meals

I have visited several times, but it is disappointing.

This time was the most disappointing so far. I chose a newly renovated room, but the location of the Onsen and shower room was inconvenient, and in winter, the distance was uncomfortable. In the lounge, the coffee machine didn't work no matter how many times I tried, and even when the staff came, they couldn't figure it out. It turned out that the coffee grounds were full. The second time, there was no water, so I couldn't drink it. The relaxing lounge turned into a place of sighs. The pace of the meal was too fast, and they didn't notice until I asked them to slow down. This time was truly disappointing.

    Commemorative Trip

We stayed for a Multiple Night Stay as a celebratory trip for our anniversary. Last time it was Kotone, but this time it was Karoi. In conclusion, we were very satisfied with the service, the food, and the Room. The Room was clean and well-maintained. Since it was a Multiple Night Stay, there was time for replenishment and cleaning, but they listened to our requests and everything went smoothly without any issues. The meals were provided with different menus for two days (both breakfast and dinner). The quantity and quality were excellent. The welcome, reception, room attendants, cleaning staff, and all the staff were very pleasant. There was a reassuring atmosphere where it was easy to ask questions if we didn't understand something. This time we stayed on the luxury floor, so it was on a high floor, but the only slight regret was that the Room had a limited view of Lake Biwa. We will visit again, and we look forward to it next time. It was a great commemorative trip. Thank you, and we look forward to visiting again.

    It was a good trip.

The hospitality, guest rooms, and Facility are as wonderful as ever. The meals tended to be a bit strong in flavor, and there were many dishes with thick sauces, which caught my attention. The meat was delicious, but overall, I felt it was tastier before. Overall, I was very satisfied. Thank you.

    A truly wonderful time!!

The private open-air bath in the room was absolutely amazing, and I enjoyed it until the very last moment before check-out!! The dinner had so many dishes that I couldn't finish them all; perhaps one less dish would still be more than enough. I couldn't try all the baths, so I would love to come back for a second chance!!

I was able to spend a relaxing time.

1/19-20 Stays. Room 513. We visited the property to honor my late father-in-law, who dearly loved this place. Checked in at exactly 2 PM. The property is very clean from the entrance. We reserved dinner at 6 PM and immediately started exploring the baths within the property. All the baths are clean and provide a pleasant atmosphere. The open-air bath in the room was also delightful. It was appreciated that the room's refrigerator offered free drinks after the bath. The next morning, we started exploring the baths within the property early again. It was an onsen indulgence. The quality of the spring water was comparable to Gero Onsen Yunoshimakan and the local Soni Kogen Okame no Yu. For the breakfast buffet, my wife had Western cuisine, and I had Japanese cuisine. The hospitality of the staff is also excellent at this property. Even my critical wife was very pleased with the property. We will visit again soon.
