We went on a family ...

We went on a family trip with three teenagers. The room felt a bit small for five people, but since we mostly used the lounge and manga room and only slept in the room, it wasn't an issue. The ocean view from the room was beautiful. What our family enjoyed most was the breakfast and dinner buffet. There were unique dishes and live cooking stations that we don't often see elsewhere, and everything was so delicious that we ended up overeating. At accommodations where dinner is not usually buffet-style, our kids would often sulk at adult-oriented kaiseki meals, but here they happily chose their own dishes, which made us glad about our choice. We dined during the later time slots for both breakfast and dinner, but they ensured to replenish food when it ran low, which we appreciated. With all-inclusive service offering unlimited drinks as well, we had a great time enjoying ourselves. This accommodation offers excellent value for money!

    Girls' Trip

We stayed for one night as a family of girls. We reserved a renovated room. Since it was the beginning of summer vacation, the hotel was bustling with families with small children. The public bath was moderately crowded, but not so much that all the washing areas were occupied, allowing us to relax and enjoy it. The most satisfying part of our stay was the food. It was a buffet with a wide variety of dishes, all delicious, leaving us completely full. The all-you-can-drink alcohol service is quite rare and added to the experience. The desserts were also delightful. It was our first inclusive experience, and we were very satisfied. It made us want to visit other hotels in this chain in different regions as well!

    All-Inclusive Beverage Service

The number of soft drink machines in the lobby lounge and buffet area is limited, often resulting in long queues. While additional machines may only be necessary during peak times, we recommend considering an increase in their availability.

This Hotel is well-balanced and ideal for families.

We chose this Hotel as it seemed cost-effective even with our 6-year-old and 3-year-old children. Reading the Reviews, some low ratings seemed consistent, so we were a bit nervous heading there. However, most concerns turned out to be minor, and we ended up having a very satisfying stay. Here are our thoughts on specific aspects: ◯ Check-in According to Reviews, checking in at 3 PM could result in long lines. We arrived just before 4 PM and found only about five people waiting, with a wait time of around 10 minutes. Based on Reviews suggesting getting kids' loungewear during check-in, we requested them (sizes: 130cm and 110cm). After completing the check-in process, we were directed to another area to reserve meal times. Following advice from Reviews recommending earlier slots, we secured the remaining slot at 5 PM. Since it was nearly fully booked on Saturday, there was indeed a line for elevators; however, it felt comparable to waits at five-star Hotels abroad. We didn’t use the lounge but noticed from afar that it appeared crowded. That said, lines for soft drinks had only about five or six people—manageable considering they’re free. ◯ Room We opted for a Superior Twin Room since there were no negative reviews regarding these Rooms—and this choice proved right! The renovated Room was clean and pleasant. Our Room faced Kometsuhama Beachside with views of sand and waves that added enjoyment. ◯ Meals Reviews mentioned dining opened slightly before the scheduled time of 5 PM; arriving five minutes early allowed us ample seating despite over thirty guests already present. Dishes like roast beef and foie gras burgers indicated improvements compared to past feedback (and tasted great!). Later arrivals likely faced more crowding challenges. ◯ Bathing Facilities The lounge area and changing rooms appeared nicely renovated; overall bathing facilities were satisfactory too. Given many families staying here with children excitedly playing around everywhere—it might not suit elderly guests or solo travelers seeking quietness. ◯ Conclusion If you manage your expectations appropriately beforehand—this Hotel offers excellent value for money!

    Service: 0 points

At check-in, neighboring guests were provided with information about fireworks (by a foreign female staff member), but I received no such guidance. It felt like having a robot handle the process might have been better. Staff in suits occasionally appeared but did not acknowledge guests at all, reflecting poor service quality. The lounge was overcrowded to the point where it was impossible to find a seat or even enjoy a drink, so it may be better not to advertise it as an included amenity.

    Buffet - Excellent

We stayed in two Rooms for a family of 9 at a very reasonable price during the time sale. Last year, we stayed at a famous Hotel in Shirahama, but the meals at your Hotel were definitely better. The whole family praised the variety of dishes and delicious beer. The restaurant was spacious and it was easy to access the food, which was great. However, I felt that 150g as the minimum portion of rice was too much considering we wanted to enjoy various dishes. As for the bath area, there were no towels provided inside. It would be nice if face towels were available there since carrying them from our Room every time felt inconvenient. Also, the face towels in our Room were too luxurious and not suitable for washing our bodies. Regarding indoor activities, they seemed quite limited. My second-grade grandson mentioned that despite having so much space available, there wasn’t a game center or enjoyable facilities like table tennis or an integrated kids' room where families across generations could have fun together. Even after pool season ends, it would be great if there were more activities that families could enjoy together during their stay.

    Not as bad as expected.

There were many reviews mentioning insufficient cleaning, but I did not find the room to be dirty. The room felt spacious enough, and the view was great. However, as mentioned in other reviews, adjusting the air conditioning was challenging—it was too cold when on and too hot when off. There were many families staying during our visit, likely due to the long weekend. While the pool and restaurant were crowded, it wasn’t so bad that we couldn’t use them. The public bath was actually less crowded than expected and very comfortable. Considering the price, I thought the food and drinks were decent. I had seen reviews from repeat guests mentioning that certain items had been removed from the menu, so I was cautious about what to expect; however, they still served dishes like foie gras burgers at the dinner buffet. Other offerings included pressed mackerel sushi rolls, beef shabu-shabu (though not labeled as domestic), roast beef with Kinzanji miso sauce roast pork, sashimi (tuna, yellowtail, squid, sweet shrimp), among others. Since it’s managed by a French company, their European-style dishes seemed particularly well-prepared—perhaps their specialty? For those accustomed to high-quality Japanese cuisine daily though, they might find these dishes somewhat underwhelming or unconventional... but personally speaking—I enjoyed them!

    ...

Thank you for staying with us. I had always wanted to stay at Mercure, so I stayed for one night starting from July 2nd. Here are my personal impressions: ◯Accommodation The refrigerator was cracked, and the aging of the accommodation was noticeable. There were also many unused rooms or banquet halls, giving an impression of underutilization. ◯Service It was average. ◯All-Inclusive The breakfast and dinner buffets had a decent variety of dishes, but the taste was just okay. For dinner, the all-you-can-drink alcohol option is great for those who enjoy drinking. However, depending on the time of visit, there were many elderly guests unfamiliar with buffet etiquette, leading to frustrations like "cutting in line," "sudden stops," and "impatient behavior." Additionally, snacks outside meal times were minimal and disappointing despite being labeled as "all-inclusive." Overall... For those who don't travel often, it might be satisfactory to some extent; however, for frequent travelers like myself—considering the price—it felt just acceptable at best.

The meals are incredibly delicious! The bath was also excellent.

I stayed in a Western-style room with tatami mats. The facility is slightly old but has a clean and comfortable atmosphere. The building has some unused spaces, which felt a bit lonely. However, the lively services like the evening lounge offerings brought energy, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The bath was excellent, with ample hours available for use both at night and in the morning. I especially loved the open-air bath. Surprisingly, the meals were incredibly delicious. The dishes made with local ingredients were so good that I ended up overeating. My family also found them delightful and was very satisfied. One dissatisfaction would be the operating hours of the shop. It was hectic during check-in, and when I tried to use it at check-out time, it only opened in the evening. Since there are no nearby facilities offering a variety of souvenirs, this was slightly disappointing. It's recommended to visit the shop during check-in if possible. On our way back home, we played on a nearby sandy beach before leaving. You can see the hotel when you look up from there—great location! By any chance, is Ume-Olé sold anywhere? I'd love to know its recipe...

The view and drinks are worth it.

Stay in an east-facing room. Enjoy a beautiful sunrise and stunning coastal views. The sunset from the relaxation area was breathtaking. The faucet in the room's washbasin has restricted water flow, and only a small stream comes out. The TV volume is also limited and cannot go above 27. The lounge and free drinks during dinner offer a wide variety of options.

    The facility is excellent!

The facility and meals were excellent, but the lounge staff was terrible! While eating a complimentary plum, I was repeatedly warned to stop as outside food is prohibited, which was extremely unpleasant!

    Affordable and Clean

This was my first time staying at this accommodation. The front desk staff, though her Japanese was a bit broken, provided very polite service and had a lovely smile! I reserved an ocean-view room. The view of the beautiful ocean was breathtaking! (Though you can also see the parking lot.) Additionally, the open-air onsen offered an amazing view! At night, I could see a town lit up in the distance, and in the morning, I felt so relaxed while gazing at the sea. The onsen opens at 6 AM, and when I went right as it opened, there were already quite a few people there!

On weekdays, we were able to enjoy a leisurely meal. The venue was clean and spacious, allowing for a comfortable distance from other families. It exceeded our expectations, making it even more satisfying! The foreign staff members were also very polite and attentive. The Room is old.

    Throughout the entire stay

Thank you for your hospitality. We requested a Room near the elevator as we had elderly guests, and our request was accommodated. While there were some aspects that felt dated, such as the toilet and bedding, we appreciated the complimentary snacks and drinks available from check-in. The meals exceeded our expectations, and we truly enjoyed them. We look forward to staying with you again in the future. Thank you very much!

It was a completely satisfying resort stay.

The room offered a stunning ocean view, making it very relaxing. Based on reviews, we were aware of the breakfast crowd and went early, but the hall was already busy. However, the staff were impressively efficient in replenishing food and clearing tables, so we didn’t feel inconvenienced. The variety of breakfast options was surprising and everything tasted great. I was amazed to see pho on the menu! Unfortunately, I couldn’t try it as I was too full, but next time I’d love to explore more dishes. The service was pleasant overall, making this resort stay an ideal experience for the price. Thank you very much!

    Great value for money

Previously stayed at Grand Mercure Awaji Island and liked it for its cost performance, so decided to visit again. The lounge during check-in did not have beer, but there was infused liquor which was enjoyable. Stayed in a room with a partially tatami area. The futon placed on the tatami required guests to set up sheets themselves, and I didn’t use the pillow as it was hard and too high. The meals lacked the innovation I had experienced before on Awaji Island. The public bath was well-maintained, but unfortunately, the plum juice seemed to have run out. While the building showed its age, considering this price point, I am satisfied overall.

A great Hotel with a stunning ocean view

The service of enjoying drinks and snacks in the lobby after check-in was excellent. The buffet-style meals, both dinner and breakfast, were varied, delicious, and very satisfying. However, one downside was that the water facilities in the Room felt slightly outdated with a noticeable odor. Additionally, the variety of amenities was limited; having more options would have made the stay even more comfortable.

    Wakayama Minabe

It was my first trip to Minabe, Wakayama. The view from the room's window of the sea, known as the Aegean Sea of Wakayama, along with Kashima Island, rocky shores, and lush greenery was truly breathtaking. I was deeply moved. The lobby lounge had a high ceiling and offered a luxurious space that felt very relaxing. The cuisine was exquisite, featuring tuna, sweet shrimp, squid, Kumano beef shabu-shabu & sukiyaki, roasted pork, and Kishu pickled plums. The staff's attentiveness was exceptional, making it a wonderful Onsen trip. Thank you so much!

    First Time in Wakayama

Stayed for a family trip. Room: A spacious corner room with 4 beds, offering a beautiful sunset view. However, the bed mattresses were too soft, making the 2-night stay uncomfortable. The water facilities felt outdated, and the cover under the sink was peeling off. Bath: Located in the basement. The elevators (3 in total) were crowded every time we used them. The operating hours for the Onsen felt quite short. In the morning, our card key didn’t work right at 6 AM and had to be manually opened by staff (reluctantly). Amenities were minimal but sufficient. Dining: As expected with a buffet setup, it was very crowded. It would be better if there was more space between tables or additional serving tools provided when dishes are duplicated to improve efficiency. The food itself tasted great. Having experienced all-inclusive services multiple times before, I appreciated the variety of drinks and snacks offered here!

    Delicious breakfast

The breakfast offered a great variety and was enjoyable even during a Multiple Night Stay, with particularly fresh and delicious vegetables. The all-inclusive bar was nice, but seating was insufficient, making it inconvenient when there were many guests. On the other hand, the bathroom in the room was minimal; it couldn't be helped as it wasn't a high-grade room, but preparing in the morning was slightly challenging. The front desk staff were kind and provided excellent service. Thank you very much!

    My Second Stay at Mercure

The first time was at Mercure in Kashihara, Nara. The second time was at Mercure in Wakayama. Nara had a wider variety of buffet dishes, so Wakayama was a bit disappointing in that regard. However, the baths in Wakayama were more spacious, and there were also three open-air baths—an Onsen experience we were very satisfied with. This time we also upgraded our Room, making it an elegant one-night stay. We would like to visit another Mercure again.

    Good.

I was worried after reading the reviews, as they mostly mentioned negative things, but it turned out to be fine! Maybe it was because I stayed on a Sunday night... If you stay during busy times, the hotel's capacity might be a concern!? The view from the room was great. The photo shows the view from the room!

    The meals are excellent!!

I used to visit here often about 20 years ago before the renovation, and the Facility still brings back memories of that time. The blend of renovated areas and those retaining their original charm feels very nostalgic. The Room was somewhat like a Business Hotel and not very impressive, but the delicious dinner and breakfast made up for it. I realized that when the meals are satisfying, even less impressive aspects can feel positive overall. I would love to visit again. The Onsen was also excellent!

    All-Inclusive Hotel in the Suburbs

For the past two years, we have been drawn to all-inclusive Hotels and have been visiting them with our family. Last year, we stayed at Grand Mercure in Hamamatsu, and this time we visited Minabe. Since it was a weekday, it was quiet with fewer people, allowing us to relax. The meals were satisfying overall; although there were fewer meat options than expected, the tuna and sweet shrimp sashimi were excellent. Other dishes also had a homemade touch. The staff's smiles were wonderful as well.

    Room temperature

The Room was too hot, making me feel unwell. Even after informing the front desk, they said it couldn't be adjusted, which was disappointing. The lounge snacks were all unpleasant, and it was crowded; at night, I had to wait 15 minutes in line and couldn't get a second serving.

Hair and snack trash left by previous guests in the corner of the Room was disappointing. Just having trash lowered my mood. The Room temperature was also hot. The meals had a variety, but there were no meat dishes.

    Room Air Conditioning

We had a wonderful and memorable time. Even though it was the weekend, the lounge was well-organized. The buffet was crowded as expected, and perhaps due to the arrangement, it was a bit difficult to access some items. One disappointment was the room's air conditioning; it was too hot and couldn't be controlled properly. However, we truly enjoyed activities like table tennis and had a great time overall. Thank you very much!

    Satisfied.

It was relatively quiet, possibly due to the end of the plum blossom season, which was nice. The parking lot, check-in process, 3 PM lounge access, dinner, and 9 PM lounge access were all comfortable without being overly crowded. It's great that even when the lounge seats are full here, a waiting room is available and tea time can be enjoyed from 7 AM. This is my third visit after Awaji Island and Nagahama locations, but everything from the Room to the lobby and bath facilities felt modern and comfortable. One request: it rained on the first day, and since the roof of the open-air bath did not provide rain protection, I couldn't fully enjoy it. I understand there may be various circumstances but would appreciate your consideration on this matter.

    It was great.

I stayed in a Japanese-style Room. The tatami mats were a bit old, but the ocean-view Room offered great scenery and a beautiful sunrise. The lack of a closet was inconvenient, and I wished there was a separate washroom. The food was all delicious with plenty of variety, which was excellent. As for the rice, you press the button for your desired grams, and it comes out if you set your bowl in place; however, it felt too mechanical and didn’t look appetizing, which was disappointing. I assume this setup is to make it easier for buffet-style dining. Since there are many international guests, I imagine weekends can get quite crowded.
