Overall, we were satisfied. The downside was that the lounge was too crowded. During meals, even though there were many people, we didn’t have to wait in long lines, but the lounge was quite challenging. It was disappointing that there wasn’t any ice nearby when I wanted to add it to my coffee. The elevators were too crowded to use, so we had to take the stairs, but I noticed dust on the staircase which bothered me. Inside the cupboard in our Room, there were a lot of hairs which made me feel a bit uncomfortable. Other than that, all the meals were delicious and the tuna was fresh. It was an enjoyable family trip. Thank you very much!

    Perfect for families with children

This was our second visit. Last time, we went as a couple, but this time we brought our grandchildren. It was the second weekend of September, and the place was extremely crowded with a long line for check-in! Although check-in starts at 3 PM, people were already lining up before that and the process had already begun. Since there were four of us this time—two children and two grandparents—we reserved a Japanese-Western style room. The room was spacious with large beds, which made the kids very happy! We headed to the pool right away, but it was also very crowded. However, we enjoyed playing while admiring the great view despite bumping into others occasionally. The large public bath area was very spacious with three open-air baths where we could relax. Dinner time was extremely busy as well. Even though we had a reservation for a specific time slot, there were no seats available initially and we wandered around until finally finding an empty spot by the window—it turned out to be worth it! There were many food options (though there were lines here too), and everyone left feeling full and satisfied. The kids especially loved it!

    Family Trip

We stayed with an 18-month-old, a 7-year-old, and four adults. The Room and Facility felt a bit dated, but we enjoyed the Onsen and pool, making the whole family very happy. There was also a table tennis room and a manga room, leaving nothing to complain about during our Hotel stay. In the lounge, the kids happily snacked on vegetable chips and cookies while the adults enjoyed beer and soft drinks to their satisfaction! Breakfast was great as well. However, since it was still pool season, breakfast on weekends was quite crowded, making it challenging to wait in line. But overall, this Hotel provided a highly satisfying experience. Thank you very much!

    Affordable and Family-Friendly Hotel

I usually stayed at the same chain Hotel in Awaji, but this time I chose this one because it was very reasonably priced. The lounge and buffet were just as enjoyable as in Awaji. The Onsen was very clean and excellent! I was slightly concerned about some stains on the Room floor, but for this price, I am more than satisfied. I would love to stay here again. Thank you very much!

    A bit disappointing

I stayed at this accommodation last year as well, but I felt that the quality of the food had declined compared to last year. I was really looking forward to it, so it was a bit disappointing. Also, the restroom on the first floor was filled with a strong smell of cigarettes, which was unpleasant. The staff were very polite and excellent.

    Very smoky smell.

The staff's service was excellent, and they were friendly in all areas such as Shuttle Service, front desk, and restaurant. The availability of rest areas throughout the Hotel was very helpful. However, the air from the vent in the Room smelled strongly of cigarettes, waking me up multiple times during the night due to the intense odor. It was very disappointing that a non-smoking Room had cigarette smells coming from other Rooms. Even on my way home after checking out, I could still remember the strong smell in my nose and head, which caused headaches and made me question whether this trip truly served as a relaxing vacation to relieve accumulated fatigue. The smell was terrible for consecutive days; however, when there was a power outage due to a typhoon, it wasn't as bad—this made me realize that turning off the air conditioning might help. Upon arrival on the first day, I noticed that one of the drawers containing a hairdryer was slightly open and had peanuts inside it. Since this is an important moment for forming first impressions of a Hotel stay, I felt it was unfortunate.

    Well-thought-out content.

This was my first visit. It was a busy day with the parking lot almost full, and I was initially worried about what the interior would be like, but I was impressed by how well-thought-out this hotel is. Attention to detail made everything run efficiently. Towels were provided in just the right amount, and meals were buffet-style with options enjoyable for all age groups. While the beer wasn't ice-cold, the glasses were chilled in a refrigerator, which kept them cool enough. Despite being a large buffet setting that could have felt chaotic, experienced staff members checked on everything frequently and worked seamlessly as a team. This level of organization prevented any unnecessary waiting or frustration for guests—clearly reflecting excellent training among staff members. The price was very reasonable for such quality service and facilities, including the onsen experience. For those seeking more luxurious cuisine or absolute tranquility, perhaps choosing a higher-end accommodation might be better suited to their needs. However, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would love to visit again!

I had a Multiple Night Stay. The Facility showed some signs of aging. However, it was well-cleaned, so I had no particular complaints. The meals were all delicious. Considering the cost, the satisfaction level was high. I would consider visiting again.

    Reception

Thank you for your hospitality. I was satisfied with both the food and the Room. However, I would like to mention that the check-in process took some time. I understand it must be challenging with many guests, but perhaps increasing the number of counters or finding more efficient methods could help. It was a bit tough to stand in a long line when feeling tired. That said, overall, I was very satisfied. I look forward to staying again in the future. Thank you very much!

This was our first time staying as a family of three. We reserved an ocean-view room, but upon check-in, we were informed of an upgrade. However, when we entered the room, it was on the parking lot side, which was disappointing. Additionally, the buffet seating was self-service and overcrowded like a competition; we would prefer reserved seating for meals. Other than that, we had an enjoyable stay.

    Disappointing Hotel

As a heavy user of IKYU, I have always been satisfied with the accommodations I used, but I will never stay at this hotel again. It feels like an old hotel that has been renovated, and the central air conditioning in all rooms and the lobby smelled musty and of tobacco, making it impossible to sleep. Located in a rural area, it seems that guests smoke in their rooms as well, and even non-smoking rooms had a strong tobacco smell. The lack of manners among some guests completely ruined the experience.

    No amenities available.

The room lacked amenities, and since we had small children, we planned to take a bath in the room but found no amenities like lotion or cleansing products, which was very inconvenient. Dinner was very delicious, and my daughters were satisfied as well. The cream puffs were especially tasty.

The room was hot and felt unsafe.

We chose this Hotel for the first time as a family of five (three children and two adults) based on good Reviews, but it turned out to be the worst Hotel we have ever stayed at. During this intense heat, the Room's air conditioning was completely ineffective. When we inquired at the front desk, they mentioned that Rooms only have strength settings and that temperature is centrally controlled by the Hotel. Although they said they would lower the temperature, it never got cooler, and we couldn't sleep at night. Can you adjust temperatures yourself in a suite Room? During meals, there were too many people, raising concerns about hygiene. Especially in the morning, there were long lines even for drinks. The lounge in the morning only had coffee available; there was nothing suitable for children to drink, which was disappointing. Amenities were also insufficient for our group size and required us to make inquiries. Although food and drinks from the lounge are not supposed to be taken back to Rooms, many guests ignored this rule without any enforcement—this was very disappointing. To make matters worse, a child broke a glass filled with juice near an elevator area; it felt extremely dangerous. While staff members cleaned up and asked if everything was okay as they wiped down floors, no one enforced rules or maintained order—it felt chaotic. I believe placing staff at lounge entrances/exits to strictly enforce no take-out policies would improve things significantly. We will not be staying here again in future visits.

    Too many guests.

Perhaps due to the summer holidays, there were too many guests, and I was surprised by the long lines at check-in, the bar, and the pool. The Hotel staff seemed extremely busy and overwhelmed. Last time it was much quieter, which was nice. The meals, guest rooms, and baths were great. I would like to visit again when it's less crowded.

    Great for family trips!

I chose this Plan for the first time, attracted by the pool and all-inclusive offer. Children's fees are half the adult price, and infants stay for free, making it a very affordable Plan during summer vacation. Due to its popularity, the pool was crowded, so we couldn't play with balls or other toys and left quickly. Instead, the kids enjoyed playing table tennis, Othello, and reading comics. The buffet for dinner and breakfast had a wide variety of dishes and was very satisfying. There was even a cotton candy machine where I made my own after a long time! The view from the Room was great; however, as the building is old, there were stains on carpets and tatami mats. The futon mattress was thin as well. The large public bath had one indoor bath and three outdoor baths where we could relax comfortably. Considering the price point, it’s an excellent value!

    Banzai in Minabe, Wakayama!

We were satisfied with the sea, coastline, and scenery. The Hotel seemed quite busy handling many visitors. At check-in, items discarded from Rooms were piled up in the hallways, there was a queue for the elevator, and the parking lot was full. It’s great to see such prosperity.

We used it for a family trip.

We stayed as a family of nine to celebrate my father's retirement. Having stayed before the rebranding, we noticed that areas like the front desk, large public bath lounge, and others had been partially renovated, creating a pleasant atmosphere. We were looking forward to the all-inclusive experience; however, it was quite crowded due to the Obon holiday season. The dinner venue was also very busy, but there was a wide variety of dishes that were delicious. The cookie cream puffs were especially crispy and tasty. I had been looking forward to Mont Blanc dessert but was disappointed that it had a strawberry flavor; I would have preferred chestnut with skin for Mont Blanc. The large public bath wasn’t too crowded, allowing us to relax and enjoy it at our own pace. Thanks to the Diamond Member benefit of receiving Nanko Ume souvenirs, we had an overall pleasant stay. This is a hotel I would love to visit again if given the opportunity!

    Great value for money

Overall, we were satisfied with our stay. The skincare products in the women's large public bath were sufficient, but the men's large public bath only had an all-in-one gel. The men in our family felt dissatisfied, saying, "It's a stereotype that men don't need skincare." Staying during a holiday period requires some preparation as it gets very crowded. The lounge area was packed, and we could barely grab a drink. The buffet was constantly busy with no break in the crowd. Since our family consists mostly of adults, we managed fine, but seeing so many families with preschool-aged children made us wonder how they managed to eat under such conditions. The pool is best considered for children. My husband enthusiastically brought his swimsuit but decided against using it after assessing the situation. We appreciated the efforts of the staff and had no complaints about their service. Upon checking in and getting off the elevator, we noticed piles of towels stacked in the hallway—it seemed like they were very busy!

    Kishu Nambu Royal Hotel

We have been staying here for family trips since the Kishu Nambu Royal Hotel days. The management has changed to a French owner, and the hotel interior has become more stylish. The newly built relaxation space in the large public bath feels great on your feet and is extremely comfortable. We are also happy that it has become all-inclusive. However, with the addition of the relaxation space, we miss enjoying Seventeen Ice and playing at the game center after bathing. The manga reading area in Japanese-style rooms on the third floor, as well as the game room and table tennis room, seemed popular. Overall, it feels like a rebranding effort aligned with modern trends. This time we stayed in a Junior Suite Room; however, it was disappointing that no renovations had been done to this room yet—it still felt dated. It seems some other rooms have already been renovated beautifully, so we hope all rooms will eventually be updated too!

(During the Obon period) We managed operations with reduced hospitality.

Used during the Obon period with family. Although we were unsure about the arrival time, a prior phone call confirmed that if a room was available, we could check in immediately and use the pool from noon. We booked a train arriving at the nearest station around 1:30 PM and reserved a shuttle service. Upon arrival at the front desk, staff firmly stated that "check-in starts at 2 PM." A line had already formed before 2 PM in front of reception. Lines were also frequently seen for elevators, restaurants, etc., throughout our stay. Dinner was scheduled by time slots, and staff recommended an earlier dinner due to "700 guests." ■ Highlights - Great value for money. Both dinner and breakfast offered variety and quality with evident effort put into them. - The large public bath was spacious, with an innovative system where slippers are stored in lockers to limit user numbers effectively. - The restaurant was spacious with beautiful interiors; watching the sunset added to its charm. - Although coin laundry facilities were very crowded, staff promptly addressed issues caused by other users' mishandling of machines. ■ Areas of Concern - First impression at reception: A simple comment like "The pool is already available" would have made a difference; however, it felt like they were in battle mode due to Obon crowds. - Facilities felt slightly outdated: air conditioning issues, gaps under room doors (causing sound leakage between rooms/hallways), worn-out tatami mats on raised areas in rooms. - Long elevator lines led to staircases being opened up; however, they were quite dusty (though it’s appreciated that stairs were made accessible). - Breakfast replenishment seemed slow—couldn’t get any green smoothies throughout breakfast hours. - While advertised as all-inclusive, activities only included the pool (though there is a manga room on the third floor which could be considered an activity? It felt more like a super sento but was well-utilized). Considering the price (after applying IKYU points), these concerns weren’t significant enough to overshadow our experience. It seemed well-managed despite heavy crowds during peak season.

    There is no next.

When checking in, there was no one at the designated area. The bath towel in the Room had hair stuck to it. There were not enough yukatas for the number of guests, and they were dusty. The curtain in the Room was detached and hanging down. The food was delicious, but there was a lot of food scattered on the restaurant floor, which felt unpleasant. Overall, it seemed like the Hotel had reduced staff to cut costs, leading to noticeable shortcomings. It was also strange that there were 3-4 lifeguards for a small pool.

The staff was very attentive and friendly. The pricing was reasonable, and the all-you-can-drink service was a delightful bonus. However, since it was during the busy season, the restaurant dining area was extremely crowded, which felt overwhelming. The food was delicious, but waiting in line was quite challenging. The bath area had plenty of washing stations, so it didn’t feel cramped, which was nice. The hot spring water quality was also excellent. We requested a Japanese-style room as we were traveling with 11-month-old twins. The room was spacious and allowed us to relax comfortably.

The meals are comparable to other Mercure hotels, but the outdated Facility was noticeable. Additionally, a newer TV, preferably a smart TV, would have been better. For the Room, an ocean view option is highly recommended!
