Keep up the great work cleaning the baths.
These are my impressions after using the large public bath. I would like the open-air bath to have a roof so it can be used even in light rain. The wash basin felt rough with grime and was unpleasant. Perhaps due to poor manners from previous guests, the wash basins and shampoo were left all over the place; I wish they had been tidied up more frequently. Even though it was the men’s bath, a female staff member came in to check the temperature—this is not acceptable these days. It was disappointing because the cleanliness of other Facility areas, the meals, and the staff service were all very good.

Excellent value for money
The Room was spacious and comfortable. The meals were buffet-style, with a wide variety of options, and the taste was very satisfying. We also enjoyed the welcome drink. If we have the opportunity, we would like to stay again.

We had a relaxing stay.
We stayed here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. At check-in, you kindly upgraded our Room, which made our stay truly memorable. Some of the dining menu had been updated, and the buffet was very satisfying. We would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

About Meals
At the buffet, there were no seats available when we went. Even some empty tables still had “In Use” signs on them, and several tables stayed empty for a long time. When I asked the staff which seats were available, they didn’t seem to know… I stayed at Grand Mercure Awaji Island before, and the food was delicious with a wide variety, so I came here with high expectations. However, there were fewer options, and many items were not replenished even when we wanted to take them. I understand it can’t be helped to some extent when it’s crowded, but it was disappointing. If guests are asked to choose a dining time, I don’t think it’s acceptable that there are no seats available. I think this should be improved. I don’t think I will visit Minabe again.

Satisfied with the meals and bath, with a great view from the Room.
Both breakfast and dinner offered an extensive menu, including several unique and thoughtfully crafted dishes you won’t find elsewhere, and everything was delicious. The strong Wakayama touch throughout was very satisfying. If I could make a request: I would have liked a raw egg or a soft-boiled egg at breakfast. As for amenities, I couldn’t find a women’s shower cap or hair tie.

Perfect for Families with Children
I stayed with two children. It’s small, but having a clean kids’ area was great! We brought drinks from the lounge and enjoyed them while keeping an eye on the kids—something we don’t usually get to do—so we were very satisfied just with that (lol). The large public bath also had a nice atmosphere, and we could relax. If I had to ask for one thing, I’d like bath towels to be available in the large public bath as well, not only in the Room. (And it would be even better if there were a place to return them there.) The food was really delicious—sashimi, meat, foie gras… and all-you-can-drink alcohol. For around 10,000 yen per person, this quality was outstanding. The donuts were also tasty, with sauce inside that exceeded expectations. There were dish return stations everywhere, and they collected them frequently, so returning dishes was easy and convenient. The only downside was that the Room felt dated. The bathroom and toilet are no different from a Business Hotel. There were some aged stains on the tatami mats and windows as well, but the service more than made up for it, so it didn’t bother me. It made me want to stay at other hotels in the Grand Mercure series.

The dinner and breakfast buffets were delicious.
Because we stayed on the last weekend of spring break and the weather was bad, it took 40 minutes to check in. After checking in, we lined up in a long queue at the lounge for drinks and snacks. We chose a 5:30 p.m. dinner time and were able to relax for 90 minutes. There was plenty of delicious food. Everything from the live kitchen was tasty. However, it was so crowded that we were basically always waiting in line to get food (lol). There were also lines just to use the elevators, and overall it felt noisy and hectic. The Room we stayed in was spacious, so we could relax comfortably. That was great. The all-inclusive plan was nice, but I wish there had been a bit more variety. Since checkout time was later, this part at least went smoothly without any waiting. Next time, I’d like to visit Grand Mercure on Awaji Island—when it’s not so crowded...

The meals are delicious.
The Room had been renovated and was clean and spacious, which was great. However, it was disappointing that the toilet was part of a compact unit bath, making it cramped and inconvenient to use. Next time, I plan to choose a separate toilet and bath. We arrived at 3:15 PM on Saturday, April 4, on a rainy day, and check-in took 30 minutes. I would like the Hotel to increase staff so check-in can be smoother. I think it would be better to simplify the check-in process and hand over the key quickly. The biggest highlight by far was the food. For dinner, the tuna, seared bonito (tataki), roast beef, and small cupcakes were especially delicious. For breakfast, the Eggs Benedict, pain au chocolat and croissants, katsu burger, grapefruit juice, and coffee were excellent. My husband really enjoyed the lounge’s all-you-can-drink alcohol service. He is very particular about food, so seeing him happy because everything tasted great made me feel glad as well. I’m glad we chose this Hotel. The Nagahama property in the same group felt more upscale with views of Lake Biwa from the dining venue. This Hotel’s strength is its price! It was very affordable with great value for money, and we were very satisfied. If you want a quiet place to relax while dining, you may want to look for another Hotel. This is a Hotel for those who want to casually enjoy a variety of buffet options. Thanks to you all, our family had a wonderful time. Thank you very much.

I stayed on the Anniversary Plan during a trip with my son and his wife. To be honest, I didn’t have high expectations for the bouquet and cake. However, we were all delighted by the beautiful bouquet in the color I requested and the whole strawberry cake. My daughter-in-law, who loves flowers, was especially happy. There were many guests on the day we stayed, but the dining area was spacious, so we could relax without worry even with a small baby. We also ordered extra sake, and it was fun chatting with the staff. We made wonderful memories. Thank you very much.

The best view
I had been hoping to visit for a preview and stay overnight. The view was wonderful, and all the staff were very pleasant and welcoming. We also received a souvenir from IKYU. I would be happy if there were a hairbrush and plastic bags for wet towels in the bathroom. The meals were delicious, and the two kinds of burgers were also very good. Check-out was at 12:00, but since we were in the middle of our trip, we couldn’t relax as much as we wanted, which was a shame. I would like to stay again.

The operation felt understaffed and unable to keep up. It was hard to call the stay comfortable.
I understand it was crowded due to spring break, but overall it felt like operations could not keep up. At check-in, we waited about an hour, and there was also a very long line for the elevators, so it took quite a while just to get back to our room. Even though we wanted to relax at the resort, every move became stressful. At dinner, there was almost no guidance from staff and it felt like a food court. There were no seats prepared, so we had to walk around looking for an open table ourselves, which did not allow us to enjoy the meal in a calm setting. The floor in the venue was sticky in places and there were areas with leftover food on the ground as well, which raised concerns about cleanliness. In addition, only one bath towel per person was provided, which was inconvenient for using the Onsen multiple times. I contacted the front desk to request an extra towel, but they were unable to accommodate us, which was disappointing. There were also no spare toilet paper rolls provided, which made it feel like even basic amenities were not sufficiently considered. The Facility and location are great overall, so I strongly hope for improvements in operations and service.

I’ve stayed here quite often, and this was my third stay this year. I keep coming back because I love the Onsen, but the meals haven’t changed for years, so I’m starting to think it may be time to take a break. Since there are so many guests, lately it feels hard to relax and fully enjoy the baths or meals. It’s starting to feel like there’s less to look forward to.

I’ve stayed here multiple times.
This is a Hotel I’ve stayed at again to relax nearby. This time, there was an issue (the bedding was dirty and I had it replaced), which was disappointing. I plan to stay again, so I hope my next visit will be more comfortable.

Family Trip
We stayed as two families and used a twin Room and a Japanese-Western style Room. The price was low, and we were satisfied with the all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink lounge and meals, but there were still some concerns. I had seen similar comments in Reviews beforehand and wondered if it was really true, but in the Japanese-Western style Room, having to place a sheet directly on the mattress for the futon on the tatami felt uncomfortable. The mattress itself would have been acceptable if there had been a proper futon mattress pad underneath, so I was genuinely surprised that there wasn’t one at all. I couldn’t help thinking, “This isn’t a sports club training camp!” Also, because we used two Rooms, we noticed something else: the twin Room did not have an air purifier. That twin Room also seemed not to have been renovated—there were stains and peeling on the curtains, carpet, and wallpaper, and it looked quite worn. While I assumed it had at least been cleaned and reminded myself it was inexpensive, it made me wonder whether we had been assigned an unused Room at short notice. The Room itself was spacious and bright when we opened the curtains so we could tolerate it, but with that appearance an air purifier felt essential. These two points significantly lowered our overall impression of this Hotel.

Plum Blossom
Thanks to the meals, baths, and the staff’s hospitality, we were able to enjoy a relaxing staycation at the Hotel all day. After check-in, our schedule was: 3:00 PM lounge – 4:00 PM bath – 5:00 PM dinner – 9:00 PM lounge – 10:00 PM bath – 7:00 AM bath – 8:00 AM breakfast – check-out, and we felt refreshed both physically and mentally. We will visit again. Thank you very much.

I could really feel the company’s dedication.
We were told that Sundays can get very crowded due to group guests. It was the same during our previous stay, but this time the dinner hours were reservation-based with staggered seating to avoid congestion, and it felt noticeably less crowded overall. I also felt that the hospitality of the front desk, lounge, restaurant, and housekeeping staff has improved. Thank you as well for preparing a gift and message in our Room after we mentioned we were staying for a special anniversary. This was our third stay, and considering the Accommodation Fee, I truly appreciated the high level of effort your team puts in.

It was crowded, but the Room was nice.
This was our fourth Mercure stay, and we visited as a family on Sunday. Our Room was on the 10th floor with a great view. The Room was spacious, with the bath and toilet separated, and the sofa was nice as well. There were many overseas tour groups, so the elevators and lobby were always crowded. The complimentary drinks in the lobby were also crowded and difficult to use. The meals were good, with Wakayama plums used in a variety of dishes. We would like to visit again if we have the opportunity.

We’ll be back.
After enjoying my stay at Grand Mercure Ise, I chose to stay here this time. Both the Room and the Facility were clean, and I was very satisfied with the all-you-can-drink beer. I also appreciated the 11:00 check-out time. I took my time with breakfast, enjoyed a relaxing morning bath, and felt refreshed. The staff were all friendly, making it a pleasant stay. My food recommendation is the breakfast fillet cutlet burger.

First Multiple Night Stay
We’ve stayed here many times, and this time we enjoyed a 2-night, 3-day stay from Sunday to Tuesday. With dinner included twice, we didn’t have to rush through our meals, and at breakfast we could think, “I’ll save this for tomorrow.” We used the baths once on arrival, once after dinner, and once in the morning—six times in total. It was truly relaxing. The lounge beer hours have changed; my husband was thrilled. The gift shop was open both at night and in the morning, so we could browse at a leisurely pace. Everything was wonderful! Having the trash bags and towels replaced made things feel fresh and tidy. We’ll keep an eye out for good-value dates and would love to come back for another relaxing trip. It was a 2-night stay where the two of us chatted more than usual.

We stayed here as a family!!
Each dish was carefully prepared, and we enjoyed the meal. We would have been happy if there had been a cut steak option. The view from the open-air bath was breathtaking. We would like to visit again.

We had a wonderful time.
I stayed here after hearing that I could enjoy an affordable all-inclusive experience. Since I love food, I was really looking forward to it. Right after check-in, I used the lounge. I don’t drink alcohol, so while having some snacks, I chose and enjoyed a few different kinds of tea. It was my first time using a lounge and it was a lot of fun, but I was a little disappointed because not all the snacks were available—maybe they change by day. Then came dinner. From my past experiences, buffets often feel like “quantity over quality,” but everything here was genuinely delicious, beautifully presented, and there was a great variety—really wonderful. Even when I thought, “I’m completely full—I can’t eat another bite,” it still made me want to keep eating. The Room was also clean. However, it was a bit cold. I wanted to turn on the heater and looked for the remote control but couldn’t find it, so I called the front desk. They told me it would help to turn off the fan mode, but it was already off, so in the end I gave up. On departure day, we had about an hour before the Shuttle Service bus, so we took a walk toward the beach as recommended by the front desk staff. It had been a while since my last beach walk, and it felt like being in the countryside—it was very relaxing. We stayed for one night and two days and had a great time. We’d like to stay again sometime. Thank you very much.

The Onsen features only a rock bath, and the all-inclusive concept differs from that overseas.
First, clearly and to the point: It seems the Onsen is only the outdoor rock bath. It was very hard to understand from the website or even from reading staff replies to Reviews, so I asked a staff member. It felt intentionally vague, so I’m grateful to the female staff member who answered properly. Below are the good points and the points I’d like improved, in bullet form. Good points - The Accommodation Fee was low. - Note: I assumed “all-inclusive” would be like overseas Hotels, but it’s completely different—please be careful. - Even if it was only an outdoor rock bath, there was an Onsen. - The middle-aged male staff member at the shop was pleasant. - We had views of both the sea and farmland (corner Room). Points for improvement - Staff training 1) I asked a male staff member which bath was the Onsen, but his answer made no sense (something about adding ingredients to make it “like” an Onsen). It didn’t add up, so I asked a female staff member again and got a proper explanation. She said the Hot Spring Tax is included in IKYU’s Accommodation Fee. That said, I think it should be stated more clearly overall that the Onsen is only the outdoor rock bath. Was water quality listed somewhere? Unclear. 2) The same male staff member created my Room key at check-in, but despite a Multiple Night Stay of three nights, he set it for only one night. When I returned on day two, I couldn’t enter my Room and had to go back to reception with heavy luggage. 3) Housekeeping came on day three, but my used tea cup was not replaced. - However, both Japanese housekeeping staff and those who seemed to be from overseas were friendly. Other notes - This may be unavoidable, but on the first night a light bulb in the washroom burned out and I called reception. A contractor and a staff member brought a bulb and replaced it promptly. - You carry your own luggage; you also return carts yourself. - If you’re familiar with overseas all-inclusive plans, this is something completely different.

Stair Facility Installed for the Open-Air Bath
The open-air bath has a great view and I am satisfied overall, but for some time I have often seen guests sitting down on the step by the handrail. On March 3, while using the open-air bath, I saw someone wobble as they tried to enter and fall backward onto the ground. Fortunately it did not result in a serious injury, but at that time as well, someone was sitting on the step by the handrail, and it seemed the person tried to enter from a rocky area without a handrail and slipped. I believe safety should be improved by replacing that section with proper steps rather than an uneven rock ledge, and by posting clear signage asking guests not to sit there. Many guests also appear to drink alcohol before bathing; recently at another property in the same group in Kashihara, Nara, there was reportedly an incident where an intoxicated guest fell inside the bathing area and vomited in the tub, making it impossible to use the large public bath. While this is partly a matter of manners, making the open-air bath safer and easier to enter would also help improve guest satisfaction.

This is my favorite Hotel where you can relax and enjoy your stay.
This was my 13th Mercure stay since the rebrand two years ago. It was my first time at Mercure Wakayama Minabe, and I was very satisfied again. The Room, lobby, and corridors have all been renovated and felt very clean, making the stay comfortable. The staff were polite and kind, and other guests also seemed to be enjoying their stay in a relaxed way. Both breakfast and dinner used many local ingredients and were delicious. I also appreciated that the lounge hours were longer than at other Mercure hotels. If I could offer one suggestion for improvement, it would be that the BGM volume in the dining area was a bit loud, and the music didn’t quite match the atmosphere. (For reference, jazz was playing during our dinner; of course this is a matter of preference, but I felt easy-listening music might suit mealtimes better.)

First stay since the rebrand!
Thank you very much for your hospitality. We visited Shirasaki Ocean Park and the Minabe Plum Grove, and it was a very relaxing two days at the Hotel. I have stayed about 10 times at Mercure Awajishima, Biwako, Zao, Urabandai, and Munakata. This was my first stay here since the rebrand, so I’m sharing my impressions while comparing it with other Mercure properties. - Please clearly indicate where the S/SS-size yukata are located. (It would be easier to understand if this is also noted in the Room and in the children’s yukata area.) - At check-in, please ask guests whether they would like a hair cap (or set a designated place where they can be picked up). - The lounge hours at night end early and at the same time as the bath closing time, which makes it difficult to use both. For example, how about keeping the daytime lounge open until 5:00 p.m., and setting nighttime hours from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.? - To avoid crowds at breakfast, we went later (around 8:00), but before 9:00 there was no yogurt, fruit, or desserts left—and we were told there would be no refills. Please ensure items are replenished properly until last order. - There was only one coffee machine and a long line formed, which was inconvenient.

Since it was the wee...
Since it was the weekend, there were many children and it was lively. Even so, all the staff were smiling and very kind, which made our stay pleasant. However, the Room was not cleaned thoroughly, and we noticed a large stain as soon as we entered. In hindsight, I wish I had asked to change Rooms. The Japanese-Western style Room was relaxing, but at bedtime there was only a mattress and sheet, so I couldn’t rest well. I would have liked an additional futon mattress on top of the mattress. The staff service was excellent, but considering the dirt in the Room and the bedding, I didn’t feel like staying again.
