    For couples

    We booked this accommodation for 11,040 yen for two people with one night and two meals included, which comes to 5,520 yen per person. Given the price and having read various reviews, we had no expectations at all. It was a Friday stay. The dinner venue seemed a bit small as there were tables and chairs set up outside in the hallway. If the venue gets full, guests are seated in the hallway area—this means being farther from the buffet. Personally, I recommend going right when it opens to secure a good spot. The menu leaned more towards stylish Western dishes rather than traditional Japanese cuisine. There weren’t too many options overall. The highlight was definitely the Kumano beef shabu-shabu—it’s so tender it rivals high-quality sukiyaki meat! The burger patties were meaty and satisfying! Mont Blanc desserts and cream puffs were freshly prepared on-site! The drink corner was divided into two sections: wine & beer on the left side, and shochu & spirits on the right side. It was lively with many families around; even if babies cried occasionally, it wasn’t an issue. There were plenty of staff members who quickly replenished items as needed, so there weren’t any major inconveniences. After dinner (before 7 PM), we headed to the lounge where there were still some open seats—not completely empty but not crowded either. However, by around 7:30 PM when others finished their meals too, it started getting busier in the lounge. I wish they had snacks like cheese or chocolate available as well. Overall though, if you plan your timing differently from others’, you can enjoy a relaxed experience! Our room was a standard Japanese-style room. It wasn’t dirty at all; in fact, it felt clean and comfortable. The futon bedding needed to be laid out by ourselves—it was folded neatly upon arrival. When I unfolded it though... I was surprised! The mattress consisted of three thin foldable layers that felt way too flimsy—no matter how I positioned myself while sleeping my body would go numb somewhere... In hindsight maybe opting for a Western-style room would’ve been better? But then again considering this price point—I really can’t complain!

    It was a celebration of the 70th birthday.

    Mercure Resort offers consistent services wherever you go, providing peace of mind. The Room is spacious and well-maintained for cleanliness. Meals are almost uniform in quality across locations, which may reduce excitement but ensures great value for money. The Mont Blanc dessert was delicious. If I could drink alcohol (I have allergies, so I can't), it would have been perfect. The staff's behavior was professional and satisfactory. There was a cold water pot in the refrigerator, but at two other Mercure locations I visited this year, guests had to fill their own water from dispensers near the elevator. I'm curious if this is a service provided here or if it was left by the previous guest who stayed before me?

    The best of the best

    I visited without any particular purpose, but it was incredibly relaxing. The Onsen and sauna were excellent, and I could enjoy as much food and drink as I liked. I would love to stay at other Mercure accommodations in the future.

    The public bath had ...

    The public bath had some areas that were not thoroughly cleaned, and the hairdryer cord was short and inconvenient to use. While there were no complaints about the buffet itself, it was disappointing to see a lack of plates, dirty floors, and tables—possibly due to staff shortages. It was also puzzling that some children's meals and the cotton candy machine were placed in a separate room. I usually enjoy staying at Grand Mercure during my travels, but compared to other facilities, this one felt lacking in several aspects.

    This is my second vi...

    This is my second visit following last month. Since I already know the process, I think I enjoyed it even more. The scenery is outstanding, and the sunrise view from the window is amazing. The food is delicious, the Onsen is great, and above all, it's affordable. When I told some friends about it, they all said they wanted to visit too.

    Repeat guest

    I have stayed at the southern Mercure three times in about two months. The reason is that I really like the access from Osaka, the hotel's cuisine, the room, and the view from the window. The only downside is that it gets crowded during meal times, making it hard to relax. However, this must be because of its popularity. I introduced this highly satisfying accommodation to my acquaintances this time. They plan to use it this month and next month. I hope they will like it as much as I do. Of course, I will visit again as well. Thank you very much!

    Keep going, you're almost there!

    The lounge and transportation were smooth to use even on weekdays, which was great. However, the Room TV had poor reception and was unwatchable. The meals felt general with no particular regional specialties. The view from the window was excellent, and in the morning, I enjoyed a refreshing start to the day with the sunrise over the mountains in front, along with views of the sea, islands, beach, and mountains. The restroom near the lobby was unusable due to a roof leak; it felt inconvenient—please repair it promptly. Only free-size yukatas were available; my short-statured wife couldn't wear one (perhaps this could have been resolved by asking at reception).

    The Hotel was very b...

    The Hotel was very beautiful, and we had a wonderful time. The room had a three-piece unit with a bath, toilet, and sink that felt a bit old, but the wallpaper and furniture were clean and spacious. The bath area was nice with three open-air baths; however, two of them didn’t have running water, which made me wonder about the cleanliness of the water. Both breakfast and dinner were very delicious. The lounge offered plenty of alcoholic beverages and was enjoyable, but there weren’t many seats available. We managed to find an open spot to sit, but since there seemed to be enough space in the lounge overall, it would be great if more seating could be provided. The staff were friendly, and it’s an excellent Hotel with great value for money. I look forward to visiting again soon!

    It was absolutely excellent.

    At first, I was a bit anxious, but both the dinner and breakfast buffets were very satisfying. I filled up on sashimi, and the desserts were stylish and delicious. For such a reasonable price, I had an absolutely wonderful stay. I would definitely like to visit again on another occasion!

    I stayed here for the first time in September and had such a great experience that I decided to book again. The Room is spacious, the food is delicious, and the price is very reasonable—absolutely perfect!

    Planning to revisit.

    The staff provided excellent service with attentive care. The cuisine was particularly creative, making us want to visit again. At this price, it is very reasonable. My daughter and I are already planning to stay at the same hotel chain next year. Although not a major issue, the bed was slightly firm, and my daughter mentioned she had trouble sleeping because of it. However, upgrades are available, so I recommend considering that option if you're concerned about comfort. We stayed on the last day of a holiday weekend with 700 guests; reportedly, there were even more during the middle of the holiday period. For those seeking a quieter experience, choosing your dates carefully might be advisable.

    The view from the Room was excellent.

    The sunset (and sunrise) view from the room was beautiful. In the morning, I enjoyed a luxurious bath while watching the sunrise from the open-air bath. I found a wonderful accommodation. I will visit again to relax and unwind.

    Best value for money!

    This was my third stay at Mercure, following Kushimoto and Minamiboso. It was the autumn foliage season, but since it was a weekday, it wasn’t too crowded, allowing for a relaxing time. The lounge was popular and always full, but I enjoyed trying plum wine unique to Wakayama. The buffet was delicious with a wide variety of options. The room was also very clean. The only disappointment was that the indoor bath wasn’t an Onsen and two of the outdoor baths (not the rock bath) were lukewarm. As a result, I ended up using only the outdoor rock bath. That said, considering its great value for money, I would definitely like to stay here again!

    Stayed at the accommodation.

    The meals offered a variety and were generally satisfying. However, the sashimi was not great, and the yakisoba was disappointing. Breakfast was delicious, but it was unfortunate that there were no raw eggs or seaweed. The Room was good, but I couldn't figure out how to adjust the air conditioning, so I woke up several times due to the heat. The bath was average. It was nice that there were no Chinese tourists during my stay.

    High quality for the price.

    We stayed in a Japanese-style room for three people. The air purifier in the room was not cleaned, so it couldn't humidify. However, despite the low price, it was all-inclusive with alcohol included, and the quality of the meals far exceeded our expectations. Even my friend, who didn't have high hopes for all-inclusive seafood, was satisfied and happily said they would bring their daughters next time.

    Check-in took a long time. As soon as I entered the Room, the phone rang with a wrong call from the front desk. The air conditioning in the Room was old and caused severe dryness, waking me up multiple times. When I returned to my Room after breakfast, there was a large laundry bag in front of the door, and I had to step over it to enter. There were two bags placed next to each other, which made me feel uncomfortable.

    It was good, but...

    The only downside... the elevator issue. It takes too long to arrive, and it's often too crowded to get on. If you use the stairs, they are dusty and dirty. It would be better if they were kept cleaner.

    The bed has an unpleasant odor...

    The room was clean and beautiful, and the ocean view from the window was amazing. However, when I went to bed around 2 a.m. after staying up late, I noticed a very strong underarm odor coming from the pillow. The sheets also had a strong underarm smell. I suspect that the previous guest might have held the pillow or duvet under their arms. It made me feel uncomfortable, and I couldn’t sleep until morning, turning this trip into an unpleasant memory. I believe the pillowcases and sheets were laundered as expected, but I would appreciate it if pillows and duvets could be checked during cleaning, and deodorized if necessary in case of strong odors. It’s disappointing because the room itself was lovely. I hesitated to include this in my review but decided to post it hoping for improvement for the sake of the hotel.

    Anniversary Trip

    It was a trip for our wedding anniversary. We had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. However, it would have been even better if beer was available in the lounge from 3:00 PM. The meals had a good variety and were delicious. We were very satisfied. The gift was also a delightful surprise. We would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

    Classic Twin Partial...

    Classic Twin Partial Ocean View (Twin) Reservation We stayed at Grand Mercure expecting a special lounge experience, but we wished for more variety in the snacks. During our visit to Awaji in April, there were mini sakura mochi, which made it feel more "Grand," so it was a bit disappointing this time. Both the meals and lounge snacks featured many items using "ume" (plum), giving us a sense of Wakayama. The ume-themed wall at the front desk was also lovely. The room was a corner room with great views. However, the bed was disappointing... I woke up in the middle of the night due to discomfort as it felt like the springs were pressing against my body. A thin mattress topper might be necessary. In Awaji, both the bed (Simmons) and pillows were excellent and very comfortable. Looking at images from Minabe, I wondered if Superior rooms had beds with similar specifications. When making a reservation, carefully checking images for bed thickness might be helpful!

    The requested room had a wonderful view. The starry sky from the open-air bath was amazing. The meals were delicious considering the price.

    Great value for money

    You'll feel like it's summer vacation!

    On the Sunday of a three-day weekend, the lounge, restaurant, and large public bath were filled with the lively voices and energy of children. The breakfast buffet was crowded like a bustling festival. The variety of Japanese dishes was decent. It’s understandable given the timing. The Room and overall facilities have been beautifully renovated, offering a clean and fresh atmosphere. The sunset and sunrise views from the window were stunning and truly moving.

    A Hotel Suitable for All Ages and Genders

    We visited on the first day of a long weekend, and there were many people even before check-in. The lounge and other areas were crowded, making it hard to relax, but that's expected with an all-inclusive facility. The large public bath had no gender rotation, and the open-air bath was an Onsen. It seemed to have some salt content as I felt warm even after bathing. At night, there were many children playing in the bath until late, so relaxing was difficult; however, early in the morning there were fewer children, allowing for a more peaceful experience. The meals were delicious, but both adults and children filled the dining area, and the alcohol section was always crowded. The handmade infused liquor was particularly enjoyable. The room appeared old but was well-maintained overall. However, it was disappointing to find hair in the bathroom and luggage area of the room. Additionally, there are few elevators available which often led to long waits—something to be prepared for during busy times.

    Stunning View!

    The view from the room was fantastic. The Onsen, located on the basement floor, exceeded expectations with its spacious open-air bath. Morning baths during sunrise were truly breathtaking.
