    Not bad.

The overall impression of the Hotel wasfinal impression of the Hotel was bright and clean, and all the staff were young and pleasant. The guest Room was a casual type, so it was small with a parking-lot view, but it was comfortable for what it was—especially the bed and pillows, which suited me well. What bothered me was that even though it was a weekday (Wednesday), there were many guests. There were lines at check-in, and the dining area was full of families and young couples. As someone in my 50s, I really felt that I would prefer an Accommodation with fewer people where I could relax in a quieter atmosphere. The buffet didn’t feel particularly special, but since I wasn’t expecting much to begin with, it was more than enough. The selection of sweets was just right and tasted great. There were plenty of free drinks available as well, so Iwas fully satisfied.

Isn't it time to review the welcome service?

Thank you for your hospitality. The management and operation of the Facility, even after 8 years since its opening, are truly commendable. However, with the recent trend of all-inclusive services in similar Facilities and having stayed at TAOYA Hakone prior to this visit, the welcome service felt somewhat underwhelming. Considering that the price range seems comparable, we kindly request a reevaluation to enhance guest satisfaction after 8 years of operation. As for the meals, they were absolutely delicious. The desserts in particular stood out with their variety and sophistication, surpassing expectations. Thank you once again!

I would love to visit again.

Visited for the first time via Shuttle Service from Odawara Station. The approximately 1-hour bus ride was fully booked, which may have caused a slight delay during check-in. The Room was a bit small but clean and well-maintained. Meals, both dinner and breakfast, were delicious. Being all-inclusive, there was a great variety of alcoholic beverages to enjoy—absolutely fantastic! Even enjoyed beer in the morning. Considering this, the cost-performance is excellent. The young staff were efficient in clearing dishes promptly after meals, making it a pleasant experience. Enjoyed the baths multiple times, including the open-air bath. This Hotel makes you want to visit again!

    I had a great time.

One of the hotels I had always wanted to visit. I visited with a friend as my schedule matched with the Hotel reservation. Since it was a last-minute booking, the shuttle service was fully booked and unavailable, but we took a bus from Yumoto, and the hotel was conveniently located near the bus stop. The staff were polite, and their hospitality was satisfying. Complimentary coffee and other drinks were available in the lobby. I initially wondered about buffet-style dining, but the food was delicious with many beautifully presented small dishes that were easy to choose from. I could enjoy various dishes without overeating and felt very satisfied. The onsen bath area was spacious, and despite being a large Hotel, it wasn’t crowded, allowing for a relaxing experience. However, during an exchange of guests (noticed in the changing room), there were some areas in the washing space where towels or shampoo bottles were scattered around—this lack of manners by some guests was disappointing. Would posting reminders about proper etiquette help reduce such issues? I also enjoyed using the footbath; overall, as a facility of this Hotel, it exceeded expectations!

I would love to visit again.

We chose a Room for 4, which felt a bit small for four adults (a couple and two grown children), but it wasn't much of an issue. Having a room with an open-air bath was a great choice. It was enjoyable to use it freely at night or early in the morning. The staff's service was excellent, and there were no unpleasant experiences at all. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery and delicious meals. Thank you very much!

It was an excellent accommodation, but... just one thing.

The buffet, bath, lounge, and view were all excellent. To avoid any misunderstanding, this is a very good accommodation. It is also conveniently located near Togendai Station (just a 3-minute walk). This could be mentioned in the access information. However, one issue—though it might have been just my room—is that when I turned off the bathroom ventilation fan, a sewage smell filled the room. I'm not sure what caused that odor. Other than that, everything was perfect. I trust this feedback will help address the issue promptly.

    Beyond Expectations

The restaurant staff here provided exceptional service, among the best I've experienced at buffet restaurants. The system was efficient: taking a number at the entrance, being guided to a pre-assigned seat without waiting, and no stress involved. Those who arrive earlier might be seated by the window. The food was delicious. It's rare to find such high quality at a buffet in a tourist hotel. I especially enjoyed Kanagawa's local craft beer and the locally sourced yogurt and milk served during breakfast. The Onsen was open early in the morning, allowing us to enjoy it multiple times during our stay. We also loved the hotel's signature infinity foot bath—though we didn't soak for long as others were waiting their turn. Although we checked in 50 minutes earlier than planned due to an unexpected closure of our sightseeing destination, we were warmly welcomed and allowed to use the lobby without any issue—thank you for your hospitality! We will definitely return again!

    About Meals

The spare ribs did not suit my taste. The beef steak was better. For a Multiple Night Stay, the same meal content is served, which can be inconvenient.

South Wing Lakeside 1F: No view of Lake Ashi.

I reserved this Hotel at a higher price, but the room at the end of South Wing Lakeside 1F had a view of dense trees and no sight of Lake Ashi. I felt there was no advantage in reserving this Hotel through IKYU. The lobby was crowded with many foreign guests during check-in, creating a wedding-like bustle with no time to relax and constant noise. Additionally, access from the South Wing to the lobby and dining area is inconvenient and far. While I thought the buffet was good, my impression was overshadowed by the room experience.

    I stayed for one nig...

I stayed for one night with my daughter. This was our third visit. I was impressed that the meal quality and taste have gradually improved compared to our previous visits. My daughter was also very satisfied. At dinner, I was especially delighted to find that all alcoholic beverages, which I had planned to order separately, were included as free-flow. The desserts, "Hanaori Pudding" and "Hanaori Soft Cream," were exquisite. They were so delicious that I ended up having seconds. However, the sashimi felt a bit watery. The onsen was as wonderful and relaxing as always. However, regarding the issue of prohibiting smartphones in the onsen area—which I mentioned during my last visit—it seems nothing has changed yet. Unfortunately, foreign guests were still bringing their smartphones into the onsen area, which was disappointing. It also seemed there were no signs indicating a smartphone ban. Incidents like unauthorized filming can make everyone uncomfortable. I hope some improvements will be made by our next visit. Thank you again for your hospitality this time! We look forward to staying again in the future!

    Thank you for stayin...

Thank you for staying at Hakone Hanori. Previously, I had a wonderful experience with the "quiet and serene atmosphere," "Japanese-style hospitality," and the relaxing time enjoying the view and drinks from the footbath terrace, which made me want to visit again. However, during this stay, I felt that the overall ambiance had changed significantly compared to before, which was a bit disappointing. The shared spaces such as the lobby, restaurant, and footbath terrace were crowded with many foreign tourists who spoke loudly, creating an unsettled atmosphere. As I considered this accommodation a place to cherish tranquility and ambiance, it was honestly difficult to enjoy a peaceful stay like before. Additionally, I noticed many guests with tattoos at the footbath terrace—some with extensive tattoos covering their legs rather than just small ones—which surprised me. In Japan, there are many facilities that restrict access for individuals with tattoos in onsen or pools; therefore, it was unclear whether tattoos are allowed or simply overlooked at the footbath terrace. This ambiguity left me feeling somewhat uneasy or uncomfortable. While I did not use the large public bath due to my slight germophobia tendencies, unclear rules regarding shared spaces like footbaths make it hard to feel completely comfortable using them. Of course, I have no intention of criticizing foreign visitors or tattoos themselves. However, as one of your repeat guests who seeks "tranquility," "high-quality Japanese aesthetics," and "harmony throughout the space," I felt that these aspects were diminished during this stay—a sentiment that left me quite disappointed. That said, Hakone Hanori's architecture and scenery remain beautiful as ever; moreover—the staff’s service continues to be excellent—making it an accommodation that still holds a special place in my heart. I sincerely hope there will be more consideration towards creating spaces where all guests can feel comfortable (such as clarifying rules about guest behavior or tattoo policies) while restoring some of its previous tranquility. Perhaps my earlier stays in 2021 versus now (2023) coincided with quieter times due partly due COVID-19 restrictions limiting international travel back then—but even so—the serene atmosphere combined w/ exceptional hospitality experienced previously remains unforgettable & unique hallmark defining “Hanori.” It would bring immense joy seeing those cherished qualities return someday soon enveloping visitors once again amidst natural sounds alongside calm surroundings quintessentially embodying what makes “Hanori” truly special!

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

The Hotel was clean and lovely. Dinner offered a variety of dishes, which was enjoyable, but the buffet style made it less relaxing. The large public bath had a great view and was very relaxing. It would have been helpful if the location of bath towels in the changing room was easier to find. Unfortunately, due to bad weather, we couldn't fully enjoy the scenery.

    Open-air Bath

I had a wonderful time. The free shuttle bus from Odawara to the Hotel was amazing considering the distance. The location is perfect, just a short walk to Togendai, making it easy to access the pirate ship and ropeway! The bath was relaxing and enjoyable. I stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, and although it seemed small at first, it turned out to be very comfortable. I would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

    I had a relaxing time.

I stayed for a relaxing hotel stay. Both the large public bath and the room bath were pleasant, and the water terrace was just as beautiful as in the commercials. Since it is located deep in the mountains, it might be better to allow extra time if using public transportation. The shuttle service ran almost non-stop and took exactly as much time as stated. In return, the hotel is quiet, allowing you to forget about daily life and unwind.

    Casual Hotel

I made a reservation after seeing this accommodation featured in a drama and thought it was lovely, but it was slightly different from what I had imagined. It turned out to be a casual hotel with simple services and systems, popular among international guests. Although I chose a lake-side room, it was disappointing that Lake Ashi was not visible at all from the balcony. The food was delicious and enjoyable. I think this accommodation is great for families with children or young people.

The sense of fulfillment lingers on.

The hotel features a structure that runs parallel to the scenic Ashinoko Lake, incorporating its beauty and surrounding trees into a luxurious resort. Everything about this place is uplifting, from the stylish decor to the friendly and impressive staff. The buffet offers delicious and unique dishes. It’s a hotel that satisfies guests of all ages. ● Despite booking during an IKYU sale, our requests were accommodated, leaving us deeply impressed by the essence of Orix Hotels. Being assigned a room on the 3rd floor of the building adjacent to the main facility made it easy for elderly and disabled guests to move around effortlessly. It was just a one-minute walk to reach the 3rd floor of the main building, with elevator access making it convenient to reach facilities like: - Large public bath on 2nd floor - Restaurant on 4th floor We are truly grateful for this thoughtful arrangement. ● Breakfast and dinner were served at designated seats. Dinner offered more exciting options than typical sushi or tempura! Highlights included: - Mini unagi rice bowl (though not labeled domestic but soft and fluffy) - Mini salmon roe & salmon rice bowl - Kyoho grapes! The salad here was exceptional (super tender lettuce, egg salad with homemade dressing), along with red miso soup, clam soup, cheese tartlets, lamb meat—all delicious! ● Before breakfast service began at around 6:50 AM, guests gathered individually until staff announced entry in order of arrival through reception near left-hand doors. Seat change requests were not allowed; window-side seating—especially for two—is fantastic. ● The structure allows you to enjoy panoramic views of Ashinoko Lake from various spots: water terrace footbath area; lobby seating; restaurant; even standard rooms—breathtaking scenery everywhere! ● Decor throughout is natural wood-inspired minimalist yet stylishly refined—a calming yet exciting ambiance reminiscent of MUJI aesthetics. ● Impeccable cleanliness everywhere!! ● Staff are kind yet unobtrusive—their email responses are also exceptionally well-written. ● Nighttime brings true "silence." Even with windows open there’s no sound—not even insects or voices—a serene stillness prevails. Suggestions for improvement: While cleanly maintained now as an ordinary large public bath worth visiting once—it could be enhanced further by adding elements like herbal baths or rose-infused waters reflecting Hanori Resort's elevated charm!

    The location is excellent, but...

The lobby offers a view of Lake Ashi, and there is a foot bath outside where you can enjoy the pleasant scenery. Welcome drinks included two types of cold tea, and I think there was coffee as well. It would have been nice to have juice available since we had children with us. There were many foreign guests, and it felt like I wasn’t in Japan. A group occupied the sofas and talked loudly, which made it hard to relax—quite disappointing. The hallway air conditioning was too strong, making it uncomfortably cold at times. The room was also cold; even after adjusting the temperature higher, it seemed to clear when removing the card key because when we returned, it was cold again. Additionally, although we booked for three people, there were only two beds initially set up. Staff later converted the sofa into a bed for us but having this prepared beforehand would have been better. The bath area featured an open-air bath and three indoor baths. The sound of crickets in the open-air bath created a soothing atmosphere, and the water temperature was just right. However, I found that the shampoo and conditioner had quite strong scents—perhaps tailored for foreign guests? As for dinner at the buffet, nothing stood out as particularly delicious—it was disappointing overall. It would have been great if they offered steak from an open kitchen station. While the overall ambiance of this accommodation is good, don’t set high expectations for meals as you might end up disappointed!

    Traveled with three generations

The bath was very spacious and nice. All the meals were delicious. There was Western-style food served in large dishes, but smaller tableware might have been better. The all-you-can-drink alcohol option was great, though the 90-minute time limit felt a bit short. Since I went with elderly companions, I think it would have been better to request a Room closer to the bath in advance.

    The Excellence of Stability

Thanks to the Shuttle Service from Odawara, we arrived effortlessly and stored our luggage before heading out. We enjoyed sightseeing at Lake Ashi, Hakone Mototsumiya Shrine, and Owakudani by taking the ropeway, pirate ship, and cruise boat. We checked in during the evening and were thrilled with an unexpected room upgrade. Relaxing in the Onsen at the large public bath was a perfect prelude to dinner. Since you can reserve your preferred start time for dinner, there’s no waiting, and you’re promptly guided to your seat. The alcohol-free service (new since our last visit) along with a variety of beautifully presented Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes that are constantly replenished is delightful. The youthful staff's kindness and warm smiles make this Hotel a truly relaxing experience. A place worth revisiting again and again!

    Would love to stay again.

I visited Hakone Onsen with my mother for the first time in a while. When making the reservation, I mentioned that my companion was elderly, and they kindly arranged a very convenient room for us, which was greatly appreciated. The meals were delicious, and even my usually light-eating mother enjoyed them. The staff were friendly, and although our stay was short, it was very comfortable. I would love to stay here again.

    Focused on inbound travelers only.

Now an accommodation for foreigners Meals focus more on appearance than taste? Quality and flavor have significantly declined compared to the three times I used it before, which is disappointing. Check-in is done by machine, lacking warmth. No greetings at check-out either, turning into a purely practical accommodation. The spirit of Japanese hospitality is completely absent.

The second stay at Hanori was just as wonderful.

We stayed in the spacious Japanese-Western style room with an open-air bath again! Even after about five years, it was still beautiful and very comfortable. It would have been nice if the buffet menu included staples like tempura or steak for my picky husband, but everything else was perfect!

Room, bath, and meals all completely satisfying!

We went on our first Hakone Onsen trip with my husband's parents. The room was very clean and comfortable, making our stay enjoyable. The bath was at a perfect temperature, so relaxing that we could have stayed in forever! The meals offered a variety of dishes, all incredibly delicious, and with the all-you-can-drink course, we thoroughly enjoyed both the food and drinks. My husband's parents were very happy as well, making it the perfect way to show our appreciation to them. We would love to visit again! Next time, we hope to stay in a lake-view room to enjoy the scenery too.

    Enjoyed the Onsen.

I arrived about 30 minutes early and was prepared to wait, but I was grateful to be shown to my room right away. Choosing a room with a view of Lake Ashi was definitely the right decision. **Overall Impression of the Hotel** The hotel was impeccably clean, and the staff's attentive yet unobtrusive service made for a very comfortable stay. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, and having alcohol-free options was a nice touch. The free drinks available at the post-bath area and front lobby left a positive impression as well. The alcohol sold in the hotel's vending machines was reasonably priced, which I found considerate. I enjoyed exploring various Onsen options, including spending some time in the mist sauna despite my short stay. I've never seen so many towels readily available at any other hotel before—very convenient! However, I did find that the morning Onsen water temperature felt slightly cooler than expected; perhaps this is standard? That would be my only minor disappointment. Lastly, the shuttle service to Odawara is highly convenient and valuable!

    Exceptional hospitality

This is my third stay. I stay here every year for the monthly festival at Kuzuryu Shrine on my birthday, and both the food and the staff's hospitality are excellent. I forgot my bath items, including face wash and shampoo, in the bathroom, but when I inquired at the front desk the next morning, they had dried them neatly for me. Looking forward to staying again next year!

I can't find where the Room is.

I checked in using the machine, but since there was no guidance provided, I had to search for my Room (302) on my own, wandering back and forth without success. Although check-in was on the 3rd floor, the structure required going down to the 2nd floor to reach the room, which I think is not easy to understand. It would be better if some guidance could be provided during check-in. Additionally, when I entered the Room and connected to WIFI, it did not connect to the internet. For a modern Hotel, this seems unacceptable. Next, I went to the public bath; although it was drizzling outside when I tried entering the open-air bath area, there was no place sheltered from rain. It would have been nice if there were at least a small area protected from rain. The food was truly delicious; however, these issues made it feel like such a waste of potential overall experience.

    Not as expected...

The room was advertised as having a view of Lake Ashi, but the trees obstructed the view, which was disappointing. The property is divided into three towers, and we stayed in the farthest one. After using the self-check-in system, it was difficult to find our way without asking staff for directions. Additionally, it was quite far from the lobby. The buffet had a variety of options, but it would have been better if there were more dishes prepared at live cooking stations. However, the morning buffet had delicious bread and was enjoyable. The Onsen was not crowded and allowed for a relaxing experience. There were many international guests staying at the property, making it lively and vibrant.

    A Long-Awaited Stay at "Hanawori"

This time, I went on an Onsen trip to "Hanawori" with three mom friends for the first time in three years. Once again, it was a very satisfying Onsen trip. From the warm welcome at the car drop-off to the smooth check-in process, everything went perfectly. There were some changes this time; unfortunately, the basket-style appetizer arrangement during meals was no longer available. However, I was thrilled that drinks were now all-you-can-drink during meals! The croissants at breakfast were as delicious as ever. As for the Onsen, it was very relaxing; however, in the morning bath, the water temperature seemed quite low as many people stayed in the tub without getting out quickly. Additionally, regarding photo-taking at "Mizuban Terrace," which many guests likely look forward to—some individuals appeared to be holding a party-like gathering there and monopolized it. This was disappointing. It might be better to announce rules such as prohibiting food and drink or setting time limits for usage there.

Even with unexpected events, I want to visit again.

The meals were delicious, and the buffet, arranged in a square layout, was very easy to navigate and everything tasted great. The live kitchen seemed to have a lot of pre-prepared dishes. The staff were friendly and approachable, with quick responses and kind attitudes that made our stay very comfortable. Amenities change between morning and evening, so it’s recommended to bring what you need for your stay. In case of power outages, repairs for the bath facilities might take time, resulting in cold water—something unique to being deep in the mountains. The large public bath was spacious with a sauna included; there is also a cold bath on the left side when facing both men’s and women’s baths directly. The baths switch between men’s and women’s use at night and in the morning, which was very satisfying. I would love to visit again!
