Always very satisfied.
We have stayed here every year during the Obon holiday period for three consecutive years. The delicious buffet and the private bath I enjoyed with my son—everything was consistently excellent and we were very satisfied. We will definitely visit again. One small request: it would be helpful if the Japanese labels on the shampoo and other amenities in the large public bath could be printed in slightly larger text, as I couldn’t read them due to age-related farsightedness (laugh).

A summer getaway to Hakone to celebrate my wife’s birthday.
I’ve visited Hakone several times on day trips, but this time we took a three-day, two-night summer getaway before my wife’s birthday. We used a hometown tax donation coupon and enjoyed a Multiple Night Stay at Haori. It was a wonderful Accommodation that lived up to its reputation. We also received an unexpected Room upgrade, and were able to relax in a spacious Room and spend a truly restful time. It became a memorable trip—thank you very much. The morning footbath terrace felt exceptionally refreshing.

An extensive buffet selection!!
The dinner and breakfast buffet were extremely satisfying. There was a wide variety, and every dish was very delicious. Since the portions are served in small sizes, you can try a lot of different items. Drinks are also all-you-can-drink, so you can enjoy them without holding back. It was also nice that we were guided to our seats at the entrance. The panoramic view of Lake Ashi from the Room was very relaxing. However, it was inconvenient that cosmetic amenities could only be used by going to the bath area. Also, it was disappointing that the Room cleaning was not thorough and there were hairs left behind.

Beautiful view
The Hotel itself was clean and well maintained. The guest room entrance was narrow, so it was a bit difficult to take shoes on and off and to move luggage in and out. As our room faced the lake, we enjoyed a great view and could relax. The meals were beautifully presented, well seasoned, and delicious. The bath was also spacious and relaxing. However, it was a little confusing at times when going between the main building and the accommodation wing, and we occasionally got lost.

Request for a reserved breakfast time slot
Breakfast is extremely crowded from 7:30 to 8:30, and entry is restricted at the entrance. Guests must take a number and wait, resulting in many people standing in front of the entrance for a long time. Some guests even felt unwell or had to return to their Room, and the line did not move smoothly. I strongly suggest introducing a breakfast Reservation system at check-in, along with dinner preferences. Even if the stay is otherwise pleasant, no one wants to leave with an unpleasant memory from the final meal. Please make improvements so that guests can enjoy their next visit comfortably. Other than that, I consider it a very good Hotel.

Just one more step.
We stayed as a group of four across three generations, including my elderly mother-in-law, using two Rooms. We usually choose small Hotels or Ryokan, but this time we opted for a large Hotel with breakfast and dinner buffets because my mother-in-law’s mobility has declined and she now needs some assistance. So we checked in thinking that as long as it was “worth the price,” that would be fine, without expecting much hospitality. However, perhaps reflecting Japan’s recent inbound tourism trends, there were many international staff members—and I was impressed by how sincere and courteous their service was, even more so than many Japanese staff. [Guest Rooms] The Room was clean. Aside from a single step at the entrance where you remove your shoes, the interior was barrier-free, which felt very considerate for older guests. We did have a few minor issues—no toilet slippers set in my mother-in-law’s Room, an unlocked window latch, and an in-room phone that wasn’t working—but everything was addressed promptly. It also seemed the information was shared among staff properly; I felt their system for handling issues is well established. [Large Public Bath] There were plenty of washing stations. The Onsen is diluted and heated, but it was clean and comfortable to use. [Lobby] The outdoor reflecting pool in the lobby area is a well-known photo spot online. However, the adjacent footbath area was almost always full at night because multiple overseas families sat there for long periods drinking beverages. If you want to use the footbath seating, it may be better to go around check-in or check-out time. [Other] We did not use the spa services. What disappointed us most was the lack of a proper shop. There are no convenience stores within walking distance around Kojiri. Yet inside the Hotel there is only a small “souvenir corner” near the front desk—this was very disappointing, and I hope they expand it. Another point is having places to relax outside of your Room. A nearby TAOYA property is all-inclusive; this Hotel is not (it simply offers free alcohol during dinner and breakfast). Still, aside from the Rooms and baths, there really isn’t anywhere to spend time (laugh). Even if paid options were available, I wish there were more spaces—for example by making better use of part of the free rest area near the large public bath. That’s why I rated Facilities/amenities 3 stars. Overall though, I felt it’s a good Hotel at an affordable price. Thank you for taking care of us.

It was a comfortable Accommodation.
This was our first stay as a family of three. Just like the photos on the website, the view was wonderful, and the Room was clean and not outdated. Since you take off your shoes before entering the Room, we could relax without feeling tense. In the morning our child fell off the sofa bed, but because it was a tatami area, it didn’t seem to hurt. The Accommodation itself wasn’t large and felt cozy, so getting to meals and the bath was easy. When we went to the lobby in the evening, there was even a violin performance—it was lovely! Many of the staff were from overseas, but everyone spoke excellent Japanese and assisted us politely. On the other hand, we didn’t have a great impression of one Japanese staff member at the dining venue. The coffee machine wasn’t working, so I asked someone nearby for help, but there was no communication such as “Please wait” or “This should be fine.” They put in coffee beans and pressed buttons several times, but it still wouldn’t start…? In the end I managed to get it working myself, but I would have appreciated a kinder response. The food—both fish dishes and side dishes—was very delicious, and especially the sweets exceeded our expectations! Each dessert portion was small (which was ideal since I wanted to try many). The pudding was silky smooth, and for the almond tofu dessert (annindofu), the peach on top was very juicy—far beyond typical dinner buffet desserts; it felt like dessert-shop quality!! There were a few things that differed from what we had confirmed in advance via chat on their website, but overall it’s an Accommodation we’d definitely like to visit again. Next time we’d love to invite our parents and stay again.

Hmm.
I stayed here several times about two years ago. Back then, the dinner buffet had many small dishes, and I remember it feeling very Japanese. This time, after a long break, I was a bit disappointed. The alcohol is now self-serve, and there are more large shared platters, so it felt like it has moved away from what it used to be. I understand there may be cost considerations, but I would appreciate having the option to select alcohol for an additional fee and a better variety of small dishes. The staff were very kind and helpful.

Evolving.
This was about my fifth stay. This time it coincided with a fireworks festival, and I got to enjoy the luxury of watching the Lake Ashi fireworks from my Room! What I love about Hanaori is being able to relax all day in samue loungewear. And when it comes to Hanaori, the highlight is definitely the food. The menu changes in various ways each time I visit. When it first opened and I visited for the first time, everything was so delicious that I ate too much (laugh). Nothing felt pre-made; rather than typical Hotel-style cuisine, my impression was that high-quality ingredients were carefully prepared, and it was truly delicious. However, at that time the desserts were a bit underwhelming compared with the rest. From around my previous visit, the dessert quality improved, and this time every dessert was delicious—I felt they had really stepped up their game. I was also happy to see that even the soft-serve ice cream, which had been just so-so before, had improved. There were so many options that it was almost too much (for both my stomach and choosing). Since I’m the type who wants to try everything, you might even consider narrowing down the selection of desserts. Even when I wanted seconds, I couldn’t finish them all (laugh). Overall, I’d felt like the meals had gradually declined compared with my first stay. This time there was no hassun course platter anymore, but the content was better than last time and very tasty! It made me want to come again. I could really feel your wonderful efforts—constantly improving through creativity and evolution. I’m looking forward to what’s next. Thank you for such an enjoyable and comfortable stay.

A long-awaited return visit—more satisfying than ever.
This was our first return in about seven years, and it had become all-inclusive with complimentary drinks. Even better, the craft beer we love was also free, which made us even more satisfied. The private bath was clean and we were very pleased. We also used the bath included for the next morning, but it was a little disappointing that it wasn’t an Onsen. Overall, though, we were more satisfied than before and would like to visit every year.

Far away
The meals were delicious, and there was a wide variety of desserts, all of which were excellent. However, it was a long walk from the Room to the main floor. With slippers that were difficult to walk in, getting to meals and the bath felt far and inconvenient.

We celebrated our anniversary.
We stayed as a family to celebrate my mother’s 88th birthday. From the time of our Reservation, you kindly helped us with various requests and arranged a Room that made it as easy as possible for my elderly mother to get around. I called several times with questions, and everything had been properly noted, so the conversations went smoothly. Our stay was very comfortable. There were several staff members in training, and they all assisted us with great care. They also took commemorative photos for us several times. We would definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much.

Maybe I expected too much?
I made a Reservation because it was a Hotel around Lake Ashi with good Reviews, but I ended up disappointed—perhaps because my expectations were too high. Disappointing points The hallway in the accommodation building was hot. The lounge area after exiting the large public bath was unusually humid and hot, so I hurried back to my Room. Was there a mechanical failure? The buffet did not meet expectations. The salad was not fresh, with dried vegetables on display, and the steak was tough and not tasty. Even the rice didn’t feel flavorful. The eel varied in quality and sometimes had small bones, which was disappointing. There were no black soybean natto—only regular natto. The fruit selection was average. Since I don’t drink alcohol, I wanted more non-alcohol options—not only non-alcoholic beer, but also non-alcoholic plum wine or cocktails. At the footbath area, the floor-chair mat was left wet, so I used it with a towel underneath. I would have appreciated staff checking regularly and replacing it with a dry mat. Good points Lake Ashi and Togendai Port were right in front of us. The staff service was good. Our Room on the 5th floor of the accommodation building near the lobby had a great view. Bath towels and face towels were provided in the large public bath. For those planning to stay here, I recommend reading Reviews carefully and considering lower ratings as well as high ones—especially recent Reviews rather than older ones. The buffet is also rated lower than before; don’t come expecting gourmet food. I am intentionally leaving these candid comments in hopes that the manager and staff will make improvements.

We had a wonderful time.
This is my favorite Hotel. The Onsen is spacious and relaxing, the meals are delicious, and there is a great variety of desserts. With the all-inclusive plan, drinks are unlimited as well, so I was very satisfied. The menu had changed since my last visit, and I was glad to see the beef steak return and to enjoy piping-hot tantan noodles. The only slight disappointment was that the free massage chairs I had been looking forward to were removed. Thank you for preparing a souvenir in my Room this time as well. I will continue to stay here in the future.

Recommended for guests who enjoy alcoholic drinks.
As mentioned in other Reviews, many guests are inbound travelers, and you will hear multiple languages in the dining area and lobby. It’s not really recommended for those who want to enjoy meals in a calm setting, but there is a wide selection of alcohol, and you can even drink beer from the morning, so it’s recommended for those who like alcohol. The Casual Twin Room had no closet, and honestly felt quite small. Considering the cost performance it can’t be helped, but I would have liked to relax more in the Room. The lobby footbath was excellent, and towels are provided as well, so it’s highly recommended on a nice day.

Scenic surroundings, state-of-the-art facilities, thoughtful attention to every detail, and gourmet cuisine for true food lovers.
The circular sofa visible underwater right in front of Lake Ashi is so wonderful that people line up to take photos. The footbath while looking out over Lake Ashi was great; with an outdoor temperature of 25°C (July 13), it was very comfortable. The open-air bath at the large Onsen bath has a bench (couch) you can lie on, and the water temperature was perfect; all three types of Onsen were comfortable. The changing room has lockers, and both large and small towels are always available. (No need to bring towels from your Room.) Dinner and breakfast are buffet-style, delicious, and with a wide variety. There are many staff members in the restaurant who promptly clear used dishes, making it very comfortable. The price is reasonable. Access is easy to find along the main road. My Room had an indoor bath on the terrace, which made second and third soaks effortless. Because the building is fairly large, getting around inside can be a bit tiring—this was a minor drawback. There were quite a few Indonesian staff members, and it was fun being able to chat in simple Indonesian.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay. The breakfast and dinner buffets offered a wide variety of dishes, and everything was delicious. However, the bath stools and buckets—perhaps made of hinoki—had turned black with mold, and both the private bath and the large public bath felt slimy, so I didn’t feel comfortable sitting on them. Our Room was a Casual Twin, so it was small, but it was clean, and next time I’d like to stay in a larger Room. One disappointing point was at the reception counter. Since there are many international guests, it may be unavoidable, but there were many staff members who could only speak Japanese that was difficult to understand. As this is Japan, I hoped that at least Japanese guests would be assisted by Japanese staff. On the other hand, the Japanese staff in the lobby were very kind, which made our stay pleasant. Thank you very much.

We stayed here on a family trip with our child. The location was convenient, and they even let us use the parking lot before check-in, which made sightseeing easy. The water terrace and footbath were very relaxing, and it was nice that a staff member came over to take photos for us. The buffet felt a bit more like light snacks at dinner, but there was a wide variety of dishes. There were also plenty of sweets, and everything was delicious. Overall we were satisfied, but during the night the bed guard came off and our child got caught in the gap and woke up crying in pain. It was frightening. In advance, I asked if they could move the bed against the wall for Child Sharing Existing Bedding with our 2-year-old. They said it would create a gap near the door, so they offered to install a bed guard instead, which we requested. Since we had never used one before, nothing seemed concerning at first. However, I wonder if it wasn’t installed correctly or if it wasn’t suitable for our child’s age or weight. It reminded me that extra caution is needed with baby items you’re not used to using. Thankfully there was no injury, and when I contacted the front desk they quickly brought us an extra futon mattress.

A surprising transformation
I had stayed here several times before and had a good impression of the calm atmosphere. As is true of Hakone in general, I was surprised at how much things have changed since my last stay after quite some time. There were many foreign guests, and the bathing etiquette was... The bath door was left open, and some people were even wearing swimsuits, which felt very unpleasant. I used to enjoy the small-plate dishes, but it seems the dining experience has completely changed as well. The Room was clean, and the ingredients were good—the food was delicious. However, because of the rain, the covered walkway to the main building was slippery and my friend almost fell, so I think this should be improved.

It was great.
Thank you for the wonderful view from the high floor this time. As always, the staff’s warm smiles were also very nice. Breakfast was delicious. I didn’t have dinner, but the three main dishes didn’t seem very good. Also, some inbound guests with poor manners left towels scattered around in the large public bath, so please check it more frequently.

It was a wonderful trip.
The meals were served buffet-style with a wide variety of options, and the baths were very relaxing. My husband was delighted, and it became a wonderful wedding anniversary. Thank you very much.

There is a sense of unfairness in the dinner time reservation process.
Even though I checked in after 3:00 PM, the only available dinner time was the last slot at 7:30 PM, which felt unfair. There’s no point in letting guests choose a reservation time if it can’t be honored—don’t offer it if you can’t accommodate requests. If I had checked in late, I wouldn’t complain. Because of this issue, nothing afterward felt worth the price. I was really looking forward to it, so it was disappointing!

A Hotel you’ll want to stay at again
I think the staff’s hospitality is wonderful. During my stay, they greeted me whenever we passed each other, which felt really pleasant. Not every staff member was like that, though… In the past we received skincare amenities, but there were none this time. The in-room loungewear is samue-style, which I really appreciate. If you prefer a yukata, you can choose your favorite pattern, but this time it seemed more guests were wearing samue. I was happy that various sizes of samue were prepared in the Room. There were also international guests, mostly from Europe and North America, and everyone had great manners—I never had an unpleasant experience. As for the meals, I’m a bit disappointed that the style has changed compared to before, but it can’t be helped. The white rice at dinner was very delicious, but the breakfast rice had a texture like leftovers from the night before and didn’t taste good, so I chose porridge instead. Other than that, the food was truly delicious! I would definitely like to stay again. I regret forgetting to take photos of dinner… The risotto was so good that it’s the only thing I hurriedly photographed…

It was our first family trip in a while. We requested an extra bed for three people, but it was a sofa bed and the mattress was tilted, making it very uncomfortable to sleep on. We were very satisfied with both the bath and the meals. Only the bed was disappointing.

Does “supported via QR code” mean it works with everything?
This was my first time staying here. Many of the staff were young, and everyone’s service was good. Some level of automation is expected these days, but I would like written facility information to be provided in each Room, not only via QR codes. Even a simple guide would be fine. It is very inconvenient to have to scan and check everything on a phone each time. For example, you could display the facility information on the TV as well. That would also allow guests to respond quickly in case of any incident. I would also like vending machines on every floor. I stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, and it was very far to go buy drinks. The website said there would be mineral water in the Room refrigerator, but in reality there was a water purifier placed by the sink. After bathing, I want a cold drink, but there were drink stations only at the large public bath and in the lobby (unless I simply missed them). It would be helpful if each Room had a pitcher for cold water—guests could chill purified water in the refrigerator. As for meals, I think there was a reasonable variety overall, but the live kitchen selection felt limited—for example, there was no tempura. I understand you are planning with a wide range of ages in mind; I am sharing this feedback from a senior guest’s perspective.

A stay soothed by thoughtful touches and quiet refinement
We stayed in early July. Both of us work full-time and our days are busy, so trips like this are precious time for us. We’ve stayed at Hotels often for work, but this time we were reminded of what true hospitality feels like. When we arrived, a staff member came out to greet us at the car, and their natural, pleasant manner immediately put us at ease. During meals as well, when I accidentally dropped something they noticed right away and casually asked, “Shall I pick it up?” It wasn’t overbearing, but they were there exactly when needed—the sense of distance was incredibly comfortable. Even with the buffet-style dining, they spoke to us at just the right moment when we were thinking it might be time to clear our plates. It never felt like we were being watched, yet they noticed everything. That “just-right” attentiveness is what makes this Accommodation special. We also loved the atmosphere inside the building. Rather than emphasizing flashy luxury, it features a calm design that quietly conveys high quality—what you might call a “quiet beauty” or understated elegance. It made our stay truly relaxing. It was also memorable that everyone—including the housekeeping team—greeted us with a smile whenever we passed in the hallway. Even with many international staff members, the service quality felt consistently high throughout. It was a wonderful stay that will remain a great memory for us. We would love to return again. P.S. The email and phone support was excellent as well—thank you very much for all your help and flexibility.

A wonderful Accommodation for your first trip to Hakone.
I had seen this Accommodation featured on TV before and had hoped to stay here someday. The reflecting pool terrace was wonderful and made me feel truly relaxed. The Onsen was also very clean, and I used it many times. Since it was drizzling on the day of my stay, I was a little unsure about getting to the accommodation building, but other than that, I was very satisfied with this Accommodation. I would definitely like to visit again.
