Thank you for your hospitality. The bath and the Room were both great. The drinks at mealtimes were all-you-can-drink, and the lounge was also all-you-can-drink, so for someone who enjoys drinking, it was really nice. However, it was disappointing that there was only one timer available when boiling the ramen, that there were not many meat dishes at dinner, and that the miso soup in the morning was lukewarm. I think it would be an excellent meal if you have children.

    Toothbrush bag.

Toothpaste was not included in the toothbrush packets in the Room—both sets in the twin Room. At first, I thought it might be the old-style type where toothpaste is already applied to the brush (the kind you used to find at Onsen accommodations decades ago). Because of this, I lowered my rating. The Room facilities are a bit dated, but everything was well cleaned and comfortable.

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary. While the Facility is undeniably showing its age, we were shown to a lovely Room. There was no greeting at check-in, and we had to carry our luggage from the car to the front desk ourselves, and the bottom of the bathtub felt rough, which seemed a bit lacking in consideration. However, both breakfast and dinner buffets offered a wide variety of options, and with the all-inclusive plan at that price, we were very satisfied. It’s true that there were many large groups of international guests, but by adjusting our bath time and meal times slightly, we were able to relax thoroughly.

    We had a wonderful stay.

The ocean view from the lounge felt somehow nostalgic and was very soothing. The welcome drink beer and the peanut rice crackers were great. Both dinner and breakfast featured dishes made with local ingredients, and everything was delicious. The bath was spacious, and the open-air bath was especially relaxing. Thank you very much.

This Hotel offers excellent value for money and a high level of satisfaction.

For the price, the front desk area was very clean, and it was great that the buffet included sashimi. Since it was so inexpensive, I was worried about what kind of Hotel it would be until I actually stayed, but I really liked that the buffet included all-you-can-drink alcohol and that there were lounge hours. The ocean view from the Room was also wonderful. If I had to mention one thing, it would be that the sashimi section at the buffet was hard to find. If the guests next to us hadn’t been eating it, I might not have noticed it at all. Overall, we were very satisfied, and my parents said they might come again with friends. Thank you very much.

    First time staying in Miyazu.

This was my first time staying in Miyazu. I sat at the lounge counter, but the indoor lighting reflected on the glass and made it hard to enjoy the night view. The shop’s opening hours were short, so I couldn’t do any shopping.

    Birthday trip

When we decided to visit Amanohashidate, we looked for a Hotel and chose Mercure. When I wrote in my message, “We will be visiting on my birthday,” the Room was decorated with a message card and a birthday cake made from towels. I had forgotten about it, so I was deeply moved. Both the Room and the large public bath were clean, and the entire Hotel felt thoughtfully kept to only what was necessary, making it very comfortable. The buffet offered a wide variety of dishes, and not only drinks but also alcohol were available—everything was taken care of. We went home completely satisfied. Thank you very much. I would love to visit again.

There seem to be a lot of international guests...

I stayed on Friday, and there were eight large tour buses parked outside, with most guests from overseas. I felt very uncomfortable with the crowding and lines when entering the dining venue and when lining up to get food. It would have helped if the Hotel staff had provided timely guidance, but there was no intervention at all. There were many regular guests as well—are the general manager or floor manager actually functioning? Also, my Accommodation was on the 4th floor, but I couldn’t get into the elevator multiple times due to overcrowding. I ended up riding up first and then coming back down to reach my destination on the 2nd floor. Many guests had large suitcases; shouldn’t meal times and guest flow be managed better? There was also a Room on the same floor where dogs are allowed, but a dog was crying loudly as if its owner wasn’t there. Is the Hotel aware of this situation? I would like a response. If you don’t prioritize customer satisfaction, doesn’t that leave you with no future?

    Great value for money, but...

Cherry blossom season—our trip as a middle-aged family was just beginning. We had been looking forward to visiting from Miyazu. The weather was perfect! Great value, great location—a wonderful Hotel! The lounge, the Room, and the bath were all excellent! However, we were disappointed with the meals. It could have been great in such a lovely dining venue, but perhaps the buffet is aimed at younger guests or inbound travelers—it's not quite suited to middle-aged guests. It was very disappointing that local ingredients weren’t showcased. We would have appreciated a bit more consideration. Over the following 15 days, we stayed at Hotels in various areas and were satisfied with delicious meals using local ingredients everywhere we went. We also stayed five nights at Mercure Hotels and were happy with the good value. Even at Mercure properties that were cheaper than Miyazu, we were impressed by how carefully prepared and tasty the food was, making good use of local ingredients. Miyazu is such a wonderful place—if you could reconsider the meal offerings, we would be very happy. We’d like to visit again.

    Meals

Dinner featured many international dishes, with few Japanese options. The taste was just okay. It felt like there were a lot of commercially frozen foods. Other than that, everything was good.

    The price is attractive, but

What surprised me first was the bad odor and stifling humidity in the Room. Was there no ventilation at all? The windows could not be opened, and the air conditioning was shared throughout the entire Hotel, so even when I tried adjusting the settings, nothing changed. For the size of the Room, the air vent was far too small (and it looked like part of it had been blocked), making it extremely difficult to stay in a smelly Room that felt like a greenhouse. Also, doesn’t this Hotel have far too few staff for its capacity? Even when I tried to get someone’s attention at the dining area or bar, they seemed busy and in a bad mood (their language and manners were unacceptable), which made me uncomfortable. Given this price, I suppose it can’t be helped, but the food (both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style) was the worst I have ever experienced. Rather than focusing on having many dishes, I would like them to improve quality. I was also concerned about how unusually narrow the spacing between tables was, and that tables were placed right up against where people line up for the buffet carts. I had high expectations because of its excellent location on a hill near Amanohashidate and because it is an Accommodation that allows dogs, so this was very disappointing. At minimum, I would like them to improve how Hotel staff treat guests.

I was happy about the lounge bar.

I really enjoyed the lounge bar and the food, but I’d still prefer to have beer served in a glass. I was surprised by how crowded it was, but there was an open area available so I could relax and enjoy it. The sunset was beautiful. The shampoo and conditioner had such a soothing scent that I thought they might be for sale, but unfortunately they weren’t.

I used the all-inclusive Plan, and I was very satisfied with the variety and quality of the meals and alcohol. The buffet in particular was excellent: whenever dishes started to run low, they were quickly replenished with new items, which made it easy to enjoy dining without any stress. On the other hand, there were a few disappointing points. First, the elevators were extremely crowded. Especially at check-in, it was hard to get on at all, and once I got into my Room, it felt like too much trouble to go back downstairs. The dining venue was also very crowded, giving a rushed impression rather than a relaxed meal. I understand that meal times are scheduled, but I would like them to extend the available hours at least during peak periods. As for the guest Room, perhaps because I stayed in the cheapest Room type this time, the bathroom fixtures felt noticeably dated. In particular, stains on the sink are absolutely unacceptable from a cleanliness standpoint. In addition, I noticed that one of the shared restrooms had a bidet seat that did not fit properly—the toilet bowl was larger than the seat. They should use compatible products (ideally from the same manufacturer). Because the food and service were so good overall, it felt like a shame that more attention wasn’t paid to aging Facility features and crowd management during my stay.

The buffet had far more variety than I expected, and it really got me excited! When I arrived at the venue, there was quite a line, so I was worried about whether we’d be able to get a seat, but it was such a large space that it made sense. The Room was spacious, and the Onsen felt wonderful. However, I was surprised to see what looked like coffee stains in the bathroom sink at first. When I looked closely, I realized the paint had peeled off, but it still didn’t feel pleasant—I hesitated even to wash my face, which was disappointing. The toilet water pressure was also weak, and each time I had to flush three times or the toilet paper would remain. Other than that, the staff were very courteous, and it turned into a really enjoyable trip. I look forward to staying again! Thank you very much.

    An unforgettable stay!!

Upon entering the Room, we were greeted by a “Happy Birthday” message card and a two-tier cake made from towels. This thoughtful gesture and warm gift truly conveyed how much the Hotel values its guests. The all-inclusive offering was provided in a wonderful setting, and my favorite Super Dry was available with unlimited refills. The snacks were also delicious, making the long trip well worth it. We also appreciated the Plan that included Amanohashidate Ropeway tickets, and together with the cherry blossoms in full bloom around the Hotel, it became an unforgettable two days. Thank you very much!

We were able to stay overnight with our dog!

This Hotel is our third stay as a couple, and we loved the meals so much that we wanted to bring our daughter as well. However, we were worried about leaving our 14-year-old dog behind, so it was hard for us to travel together. When we learned that Rooms where you can stay with your dog became available last year, we made a Reservation right away. When we entered the Room, I did notice a urine smell. But I think if there were an air freshener near the door, the first impression would be at a level that wouldn’t bother most guests at all. There was also deodorizing spray provided, so I ended up using quite a lot. We could hear other dogs barking too, but it actually made us feel more at ease and helped us relax with our dog. There was a large dog bed provided, and our dog slept soundly through the night. We really appreciated that. The meals were buffet-style with crab and plenty of sashimi—everything was excellent. This is a Hotel we would love to visit again.

I have visited several times for lunch and the Onsen. This is probably my third stay since it became Mercure. Once without dinner, and twice with dinner and breakfast included. Alcohol was also free with unlimited drinks. My grandchild likes it very much. It would have been even better if there had been steak.

    It was wonderful.

This is a great-value Hotel that is excellent in every way. Breakfast and dinner can get crowded, so staggered time slots might help, but the system likely respects guests’ freedom. The staff work efficiently and swiftly, and even when busy they provide attentive service with thoughtful care; on the other hand, I was often disappointed by some guests’ poor manners and inconsiderate behavior. We thoroughly enjoyed sightseeing in Maizuru, Amanohashidate, and Ine’s Funaya boat houses. Thank you very much.

It was even better than I expected.

This was my first time staying with the Mercure Group, and the Room was more spacious than I expected, and the large public bath was very comfortable. The lounge and dining area were a bit too lively, but since it was spring break, I understand—everything else was great.

Amanohashidate could be seen from the Hotel window, and it was wonderful to enjoy Amanohashidate from a different angle as well. I was slightly concerned that the floors in places like the dinner venue felt sticky, but I was very satisfied with the meal itself.

    Great value for the price.

The variety and taste of the food were satisfying. The buffet was fun, with lots of creative touches. However, the dining area was extremely crowded, and we couldn’t relax at all. Is there anything that can be done about this?

    Facilities commensurate with the price.

After reading other Reviews, I went in prepared for long waits at check-in and crowds at dinner, but everything was surprisingly smooth. Although there were many Chinese guests, there were hardly any large Chinese tour groups, so it felt relatively uncrowded. When I checked in around 17:30, there was no line. Dinner at 19:30 was busy, but I was able to get food without much waiting; after 20:00, there was no line at all. Food service was said to be until 20:30, but the dishes remained on display until around 21:00, and almost everything was replenished without selling out. The food matched the price point—no premium ingredients or elaborate dishes—but it was enjoyable enough. I didn’t expect much from the lounge (until 18:00 and from 21:00), but there was a good selection of alcoholic drinks and I enjoyed it. The Room facilities and amenities also matched the price point, but the one thing I absolutely couldn’t accept was the in-room slippers. They are reusable cloth slippers, but they were badly worn and had an overpowering odor that transferred to my socks and caused real trouble. I think antibacterial resin slippers that don’t retain odors would be better; alternatively, simple disposable (take-home) ones would be preferable.

    No hospitality is expected.

I made a Reservation on the middle day of a three-day holiday weekend. Maybe because it was a busy day, I couldn’t spend my time very comfortably. First, about dinner: it seems that those who check in early and get an early dinner slot have the advantage. There is virtually no time limit, so seats fill up quickly. Even if the seats are full, they said there would still be places to eat, but I don’t think this works well for guests who want to go back for food multiple times. They advertise lounge access, but the lounge closes from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM during dinner hours. If you check in late, you can’t even have “a quick beer before dinner.” In our case, we ended up checking in around 5:30 PM and were told dinner would be either 5:30 PM or 7:30 PM. We chose the later time because eating immediately after arrival felt rushed. We planned to relax in the lounge until dinner, but it closed during that period, which left us with an awkward gap. Also, you must enter the bath by 10:30 PM, so if you want to enjoy both dinner and the lounge as well as the public bath, an early check-in is necessary here too. The Room was a twin with a sofa bed and had plenty of space. Everything is set up so guests can enjoy on their own; after that it depends on how you manage your time. I learned that guests also need careful planning. Please stop standing next to us waiting to clear dishes while we are still eating. With two meals included, lounge access, and a large public bath all available, I wouldn’t say it offers particularly good value for money. It’s disappointing—if there were more of a spirit of hospitality rather than simply processing guests efficiently, we might have had a much more pleasant stay.

There were many group guests, and the dining area was very noisy and chaotic. It would help to separate the venue from regular guests or stagger meal times. The taste and variety of the food were fine. Even though there were a lot of guests, one person in our party had difficulty walking, yet a staff member told us to find seats ourselves. I thought, “That’s not acceptable!” I’ve stayed at other Mercure properties as well, and at every Hotel the elevators weren’t great—it was quite a struggle to get on. Next time, I’d like to stay when it’s less crowded.

    It was comfortable.

The Facilities are not the newest, but thanks to the attentive hospitality and service, we had a very comfortable stay. At check-out, we tried a kumihimo braiding experience. We were about to give up due to our departure time, but after consulting in advance, they suggested a project that could be completed in a short time and made it possible for us to participate. Their thoughtful care made it a wonderful memory.

    It is a good Hotel.

I’m working on visiting all Mercure Hotels in the Kinki region. This Hotel cuts unnecessary, excessive services, which reduces costs and returns the benefits to guests. At the front desk, restaurant, and housekeeping, everyone carries out their work calmly and naturally. It’s a comfortable Hotel where you can relax and enjoy your stay without needing overly formal service such as extra-deep bows just because you’re a guest. One note for the staff: a light nod when passing guests in the hallway helps reduce the distance between you. Next up, I already have Reservations for Grand Mercure Lake Biwa Resort & Spa and Nara.
