    The meals were delicious.

    The accommodation price with meals is exceptional, but I was surprised that disposable slippers were not provided. Fabric slippers, which may have been used by others, are unappealing to wear. Even if it's for an additional fee, I would prefer disposable slippers to be available. Is it for eco-friendliness? If so, why were there plenty of free disposable slippers for children? It feels like the cost-saving priorities are misplaced. If this issue is addressed, I would consider staying again.

    A Fun Trip with My Aunt

    The buffet offered a wide variety of dishes, which was delightful. The desserts were also delicious. I wish I had tried the small donuts earlier! Despite being a weekday and quite crowded, I was happy to have the bath all to myself. There was also a great selection of alcoholic beverages—loved the Cassis Orange! Wonderful experience!

    Perfect for families with young children.

    Recommended by a friend who stayed last autumn and had a great experience, I booked early and felt reassured. However, on the day of my stay, I checked reviews for directions and was surprised by some comments but decided to go anyway. Some reviews mentioned long waits, but when I inquired about the accommodation status upon arrival, they said it wasn’t busy that day and kindly upgraded my room to an ocean view, which made me happy. Unfortunately, in the room’s bathroom area, I found a chair with paint stains and three large dust clumps. When I informed a nearby cleaning staff member about it, they apologized profusely and said they would clean off the dust and place a bath towel over it since the chair was fixed furniture. While their response was kind, I wondered if such a stained chair should even be there. Throughout the facility, children’s loud voices echoed everywhere. It seems like an exciting place for kids with plenty of space to enjoy themselves; however, it might not be ideal for adults seeking relaxation. Although some reviews mentioned waiting for seats during meals, this wasn’t an issue during my stay. Still, things might get chaotic when it's crowded. The buffet offerings may vary depending on personal taste; while nothing tasted bad to me personally, nothing stood out as particularly delicious either—especially since there weren’t many meat options available. Considering the accommodation price point (with free-flow drinks included), it felt slightly underwhelming overall. I’d prefer improved meal quality without free-flow drinks included; however—for families with young children—it makes sense that parents can relax with drinks while their kids play in designated areas. The location is stunning—particularly the park below the hotel leading down to the sea offers breathtaking views! During my stay in springtime at Daifuzan Cape (Daihonzaki), cherry blossoms were in full bloom—a perfect way to enjoy Boso Peninsula's beautiful spring scenery!

    No turban shell included

    The meal selection felt lacking. The live kitchen was not preparing anything. The escargot-style turban shell I was looking forward to turned out to be steamed oysters, and the hamburger required assembling a fried pork cutlet yourself. There were no other meat options, and both sashimi and sushi were disappointing in presentation. I won't be returning for a second time! Please note that reservations made through Rakuten do not earn Mercure points. Don't be misled by advertisements! There is no sense of style here at all.

    Time with Your Beloved Dog

    This was my second visit as the first one was excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay this time as well. I was especially delighted to stay in a sea-view Room. The services, atmosphere, breakfast and dinner buffet, lounge drink service, and bath facilities were all wonderful. Everything felt comfortable and enjoyable, making it a perfect experience. It's an ideal place to relax and feel like a resort just under two hours from the city center. Thank you very much! I look forward to visiting again.

    Good for families with children, but some disappointing aspects too.

    I stayed with my mother and two children. This was a repeat visit as we had stayed here before. First of all, the children's play area is very well-equipped, making it perfect for family trips with kids. During our previous visit over a holiday period, it was extremely crowded and the play area was packed with children, but this time it was a weekday so it was less crowded, allowing the kids to play freely. It’s also great that the play area can be used both before check-in and after check-out. What I found slightly disappointing were two things: there were no main meat dishes at the dinner buffet and the condition of the guest room felt outdated. The meals mainly consisted of fish dishes, and there wasn’t any classic meat dish like roast beef or steak (even items like hamburgers were made from mackerel or fried horse mackerel instead of actual meat). Because of this, I would rate it 3 stars for food quality. As for the guest room's condition, while being old itself isn’t an issue, there were some concerns such as torn comforters, peeling paintwork, and dirty chairs that caught my attention. On a positive note, I had no complaints about the bath facilities, lounge areas or staff service at reception!

    I stayed at the accommodation with my dog.

    During the spring break weekend, we made a reservation for an all-inclusive stay with our dog, considering the accommodation cost seemed reasonable. The dining area was spacious, and the guidance provided was precise. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, featuring local ingredients that we enjoyed; however, it would have been nice to have a standout main dish. The baths, both indoor and outdoor, were spacious and clean, providing a pleasant experience. The post-bath facilities were also excellent. It might be even better if the open-air bath offered more scenic views. Regarding staying with our dog, we felt that some improvements could be made in the room design. Since it was a renovated Japanese-style room, all furniture such as tables was low enough for our dog to reach easily. We had to place items like key cards on the entrance floor to prevent them from being tampered with by our pet. Additionally, as older wooden structures like pillars were retained in their original state, we worried about potential chewing damage by our dog during meals when leaving them alone in the room. As for the all-inclusive concept of enjoying food and drinks without hesitation during your stay: outside of lounge hours or meal times there weren’t many options available for drinks or snacks throughout the day freely accessible which could improve overall guest convenience!

    The dining environment is very poor.

    The food was terrible. Although it's all-inclusive, even beer runs out quickly. There’s no place to drink, and nowhere to sit. The long wait in line for meals was frustrating, and the meat dishes were more like steamed buns? Everything tasted so bad it was laughable. It’s nice that there are activities for kids though.

    Personally, I don't think I'll return.

    Check-in takes too long, as many others have mentioned. There are plenty of other large Hotels, so it's hard to understand why it takes so much time. The staff is very polite and helpful, but they all seem busy and there aren't enough of them, making it difficult to approach them. After the Reservation, I increased the number of participants from 2 to 3 people, but only preparations for 2 were made, so I had to call the front desk. Perhaps because it was a Sunday visit, there were many guests. However, the lounge was much smaller than expected; every time we checked in on it, people were crowding around free food with no comfortable moments to be found. The buffet offered a wide variety of dishes but nothing particularly outstanding in taste; again, there were just too many people. Although we arrived at our designated time due to the spaciousness of the buffet venue itself, we were seated quite far away from everything else. It would be more convenient if more carts could be provided since I traveled with my elderly parents and found this inconvenient. As this was a trip with our dog accompanying us—therefore requiring some compromises—the overall impression felt like an unsettled and chaotic Accommodation experience for individuals seeking peace or relaxation during their stay here instead! While they do provide access areas such as dog runs available onsite facilities themselves remain extremely narrow dangerous steep entryways posing risks better avoided altogether by lowering expectations beforehand accordingly. Cleanliness throughout premises maintained well though entrance decoratively appealing aesthetically pleasing upon arrival greeted warmly appreciated thoughtful gift gestures extended towards beloved     I stayed with my daughter, grandchild, and dog during our trip. I searched for a hotel that is friendly to babies and dogs, and this Hotel came up. We were extremely satisfied with our stay. Above all, my grandchild was overjoyed. In this era of declining birth rates, I believe hotels like this will continue to be appreciated in the future. The indoor play area was perfect for families with infants and toddlers. Meals were buffet-style for both breakfast and dinner, offering a wide variety of dishes. Even alcohol was all-you-can-drink—it made me wonder how they manage profitability! If given the chance, I would love to try other hotels in the same chain as well.

    A Graduation Celebration Trip for My Daughter

    We stayed here for my daughter's graduation celebration trip. The ocean-view junior suite room, blessed with clear skies, made for a very satisfying stay. However, the meals did not leave much of an impression. At breakfast, while there was rice and miso soup, I couldn't find tea, which was inconvenient. It would have been nice to have natto and grated daikon as well. I appreciated the early alcohol service and enjoyed a beer. Having stayed at several Grand Mercure locations across Japan, I noticed that apart from Sapporo, alcohol is served in paper cups; it would be great if this could be improved. There is a variety of delicious drinks available, so it felt slightly disappointing in that regard. Nevertheless, the location is excellent for exploring the area; my daughter was delighted with our time here. This trip to Minamiboso has added another wonderful memory for us—thank you!

    All-inclusive yet affordable

    Stayed on 3/23. The location on the hill overlooking the sea is fantastic. The all-inclusive plan allowed us to enjoy a variety of drinks during dinner. Despite staying as a family, it was reasonably priced. One area for improvement could be the lounge. There were not enough seats compared to the number of guests, and there was only one soft drink dispenser, which always had a line. Since there are many children, increasing popular soft drink options or providing larger cups could reduce refill trips and make it more relaxing. Also, having laundry bags in the Room would have been more convenient. Overall, very satisfied and would love to visit again!

    It was disappointing.

    The all-inclusive concept for staying with dogs raised our expectations, but it turned out that only meals were included, and honestly, nothing else. There was no bellboy service, so we had to carry our luggage and push the cart to the Room ourselves. The Room had amenities for only one person, there were no hair caps or cotton in the public bath, and you had to bring towels from your Room. When we forgot a small towel and asked the staff, they seemed unsure about it; since our Room was far away, going back to get it was quite a hassle. There were also very few hairdryers available. The lounge was occupied by groups chatting or adults playing cards late into the night. The Hotel itself is a renovated property with older-style unit bathrooms in the Rooms. The food was good though—the buffet offered many options and tasted great. It might be suitable for families with small children who are just looking forward to meals. This seems like a Hotel catering more towards locals than travelers seeking luxury or convenience.

    Disappointing compared to before the rebranding...

    As a "Welcome Baby" accommodation, we stayed about three times in the Standard Junior Suite Forest View room during its time as the former Hotel & Resorts Minamiboso. We loved the tatami room, which was safe for toddlers, the clean and well-maintained shower bath in the room, and amenities like a coffee mill and coffee beans. The excellent service also made us return multiple times. This time, we stayed for the first time after its rebranding. Although check-in was not crowded, we were given a number and had to wait until called. While waiting in the lounge is an option, it would be more convenient to allow earlier entry even if it means standing in line briefly—especially when carrying luggage with small children. With its shift to an all-inclusive model, room amenities have been reduced to basics. Unfortunately, there was no coffee provided this time—a disappointment compared to our previous stays. We visited the lounge where champagne, red wine, white wine, beer were available; however, they tasted diluted and unappealing beyond sampling amounts. Coffee was average but enjoyable. Snacks included pretzels, gummies, dried fruits (pineapple & papaya), karinto (sweet fried dough), and rice crackers served from cases into small cups using scoops. Seating was limited. Activities are free but limited during this season without access to pools—mainly utilizing kids' spaces or morning craft experiences at the lounge. On one floor there’s a large tatami banquet-style space with scattered toys like ring toss or balls; another area seemed dedicated for table tennis. The buffet offered tasty options but leaned heavily on fast food items—not ideal nutritionally for our newly turned 4-year-old child who needed more balanced meals such as additional Japanese dishes or side options complementing rice better than what was available. Alcoholic beverages including wine sake plum liquor etc., were freely accessible directly from bottles. Room cleanliness left something desired: slight residue noticed inside bathtubs alongside dust around TV areas detracted overall experience quality-wise despite baby gear rentals being efficiently delivered upon request—a commendable feature reflecting thoughtfulness towards families traveling together here still evident somewhat amidst operational changes observed elsewhere now post-rebrand     Delicious cuisine!

    Stayed for the first time with a preschooler and a dog. The room was average, but I think it would be better if the sink and toilet were separate. For families, overlapping usage times made it inconvenient, such as having to wait just to wash hands. The meals, both dinner and breakfast, were very delicious. However, I think it would be better to allocate dining times for guests to some extent. It was too crowded, making it difficult to get the dishes we wanted and causing stress. There were several staff members present; however, apart from two of them, others seemed lacking in friendliness or smiles. Since the accommodation cost is low-priced, I wouldn't recommend this place for those seeking detailed services or amenities. If you can accept that "this is what you get for this price," you'll likely be satisfied. By the way, since it's a spacious hotel, having an indoor dog run would be nice.

    In January, I stayed at Grand Mercure Nasu and was very satisfied, so I decided to try the Minamiboso location as well. However, the meals and Onsen were disappointing. To prevent others from having a similar experience, I am sharing my feedback here. The official website for Grand Mercure Minamiboso listed items like namero (minced fish dish), simmered golden eye snapper, and dumplings in their dinner buffet menu (most of the menu items were not listed), but these dishes were not available during my stay. While it is mentioned that the menu may change depending on the season or supply conditions, if specific dishes are highlighted on the website, they should be served unless absolutely unavailable. Was there really a situation where horse mackerel or dumplings couldn't be sourced? Additionally, although it's unofficial content and cannot be guaranteed, YouTube videos showed hamburgers and beef shabu-shabu being served; however, these were also not available. The outdoor bath was described as an Onsen but had a strong smell of chlorine disinfectant. On a positive note, I was satisfied with other aspects such as the lounge and children's play area. Grand Mercure Nasu offered a wider variety of high-quality food and more enjoyable Onsen facilities. Considering that both locations are part of the same chain with similar facilities and pricing structures, I would recommend Grand Mercure Nasu instead.

    I was looking forward to a relaxing stay, but it was very disappointing. There were many families with children. Dinner and breakfast were chaotic, almost like an outdoor event. The bed in the Room was too high, making it unsuitable for elderly guests. The food was not good and served cold. The only positive aspect was the large TV in the Room. Due to the Room layout, there was only one chair and a stool; I wish this could be reconsidered. It was my first time staying at a Hotel with so many small children, and I couldn't relax at all.

    The 2-year-old child enjoyed the play area, which was great. However, the lounge felt a bit small, and around 3:00 PM, it was particularly crowded, making it less enjoyable than expected. Unfortunately, the outdoor bath was out of order during our stay, which was disappointing.

    Generally satisfied

    In recent years, the reputation of Grand Mercure has been excellent. After staying, I was convinced that it is a hotel where families with small children can stay with peace of mind. I was also very surprised to learn that pets are allowed. On the other hand, this might be a bit off-putting for elderly guests seeking quiet or those who are not fond of dogs. The room was very clean, spacious, and beautiful. The ocean view was absolutely stunning. The meals offered a wide variety and were all delicious. Having unlimited drinks included was also greatly appreciated. However, one minor disappointment was the lack of main meat dishes at dinner (the only option being something like a hamburger patty with lettuce in a bun). It would have been nice to have options like roast beef or fried chicken available!

    Great value for money

    Stayed with a dog. The floor layout and amenities like dog strollers were well-considered. The facility is slightly old but not an issue. The price is rather reasonable. Meals were excellent. Definitely worth revisiting. The Onsen was outstanding.

    Pet-Friendly Japanese-Style Room

    The pet-friendly buffet-style dining caught our attention, so we decided to stay here, but unfortunately, it didn’t suit our family. The guestroom facility was much older than expected! The moment we entered, it felt dusty and had a smell—possibly from electronic cigarettes? It made us want to leave right away. Perhaps the Dog-Friendly Japanese-Style Room is just like that? It’s been ages since I’ve seen such an old unit-type bath and toilet. Brushing teeth in the small outdated sink was honestly uncomfortable. The staff were clearly making great efforts! They were kind and very pleasant. As for the buffet, while there were many options, nothing stood out as particularly delicious... And there was a lot of waiting—lines everywhere. It was crowded and lively. Families with small children might find it convenient for dining without worry. The two dog runs were shockingly tiny spaces surrounded by fragile-looking handmade fences. We didn’t see anyone using them during our stay. The Onsen was excellent! Perhaps recently renovated? Everything looked clean and well-maintained. The post-bath drinks and relaxation area were also fantastic. However, the lounge left something to be desired. My husband enjoyed his beer, saying it tasted good. The drink bar felt like one at a family restaurant; coffee wasn’t great either. As for the dry snacks—they weren’t appealing enough for us to try. Our college-aged kids loved playing table tennis—it became their favorite activity here! Repurposing an old banquet hall into this space showed creativity and added some charm to the experience overall.

    Stay with Your Beloved Dog

    I had a wonderful time staying in the same room with my beloved dog. The staff at the front desk and everyone else were very attentive and considerate. I would love to stay here again. Thank you very much!

    Disappointing

    This was my second night's stay. Unlike my previous visit in November, the system of reserving meal times during check-in seemed beneficial for reducing congestion. However, both dinner and breakfast were disappointing compared to November's meals, which had been excellent. I stayed in a Japanese-Western style room, but there were crumbs on the table that appeared to be leftover snacks, making me feel the cleaning was careless. The bamboo toothbrushes that had received negative feedback were replaced with plastic ones, which was an improvement. However, the futon mattress was extremely thin and caused back pain; I ended up using two stacked together. Additionally, having to put covers on the comforters myself is another point I hope will be improved. Overall satisfaction this time was low—while staying at a discounted rate through IKYU makes it tolerable for now, I don't think I'd reserve again at full price.

    At check-in, we were...

    At check-in, we were informed that the breakfast buffet would open earlier. Due to the possibility of highways being closed because of snow, we needed to leave early and arrived about 15 minutes before the scheduled time. There was already a long line, and the buffet actually opened only 2 minutes early. The Hotel staff's attentiveness felt questionable; for instance, when an elderly guest with a cane asked how to make a highball, they only gave verbal instructions. The guest seemed troubled, so I assisted by pressing the buttons together with them. As for the sparkling wine, is it made by adding carbonation to white wine? Apologies for saying so much—this is my honest feedback.

    Great for families with children.

    This is a child-friendly Hotel. The children's play area and the free café lounge are adjacent, and it was great that they were open until late at night. However, I wish the bath could stay open at least until midnight. It would be nice to relax and take a bath after putting the children to bed, so I hope for an extension of the hours. The Facility is clean, and it’s conveniently close to the city center. I would love to use it again in the future. Thank you!

    This was my second stay, but I don't think I'll repeat.

    The first time, I went without high expectations after reading other Reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. I was guided to my Room before 3 PM, the lounge snacks were replenished properly in the evening and even after 9 PM, and both dinner and breakfast had a wide variety of options. Overall, it was satisfactory enough for me to visit again. However, the second time was quite disappointing. The lounge snack cases were left empty with no refills at all—I couldn't believe my eyes. Even though the staff seemed aware of this, they didn’t replenish them. I arrived before 3 PM again but had to line up after 3 PM anyway, which felt like a waste of time. There should be better arrangements or procedures for guests who arrive early. Dinner and breakfast also felt poorly prepared this time around. Overall, it left me feeling disappointed in many aspects. I don’t think I'll be returning again.
