A Western-style Ryokan where women can stay alone with peace of mind. French-style Kaiseki cuisine is popular.

Pinon, a Western-style Ryokan, was inspired by my two-and-a-half-year study abroad experience in the UK during my twenties. Since childhood, I dreamed of becoming the proprietress of my family's Ryokan and was preparing for that goal during this time. In Ikaho Onsen, known for its healing waters, there were no accommodations where women could feel safe traveling alone, enjoy a hotel-like relaxing stay, or savor freshly made delicious Western cuisine. If I were to start an accommodation business myself, I wanted to create a place where I would personally love to stay—an accommodation unlike any other. With these thoughts in mind, this Hotel opened its doors in 1997. Since then, we have consistently provided a space where solo travelers or small groups can fully enjoy a private hotel experience, a unique "French-style Kaiseki" meal that can be enjoyed with chopsticks, and complimentary access to private Onsen baths available 24 hours—a hospitality unique to hot spring resorts. This is the perfect Accommodation for women looking to escape daily life and relax at their own pace. Why not embark on a "retreat journey" in Ikaho to refresh your mind and body?

  • I stay here every year when I’m in town for work. The food is delicious, and the staff are always welcoming, so I keep coming back every time. I look forward to staying again next time. (I’ll be sure to visit even when it’s not for work!)

  • This Hotel has the atmosphere of a small auberge.Once again, I was comforted by the warm hospitality of the staff. Many of them spoke to us in a friendly way, and we naturally ended up chatting, which made for a very pleasant stay. The private bath was easy to use, and we were able to relax and fully enjoy Ikaho’s Onsen. For dinner, we chose the premium course. It was French cuisine that you can enjoy without formality, yet you could really feel the care taken with the ingredients—every dish was delicious. The foie gras and Joshu beef were especially memorable. With this level of service, dining, and Onsen, I felt the Accommodation Fee was not just reasonable but exceptionally good value. It’s easy to see why so many guests return—this is truly a wonderful Accommodation. Also recently, a community bus stop called “Chirorin-zaka” has been added right in front of the Accommodation, and Suica can be used as well. The buses don’t run very frequently, but it’s extremely convenient when heading to the stone steps area or toward the bus terminal, which made our stay even more enjoyable.Since the weather was nice this time, we took a Hiace-style community bus from here and went as far as the Ikaho Ropeway. The view from the summit was fantastic—highly recommended. This Accommodation offers all three: warm hospitality, delicious food, and high-quality Onsen. When I visit Ikaho again, I would definitely love to return.

Notice from the Accommodation

  • Step into Autumn Style. Introducing Pinon’s New Menu (September–November)

From September, Pinon’s cuisine has changed into its autumn attire,
and we would like to introduce it to you.

For the appetizer, our proprietress brought back forks from the UK,
and to make the most of them
    we created a pinchos-style presentation.

    In each small bite:
Akagi chicken, Silk Salmon, and Gunma-grown green onions.
Whenever possible, we choose local ingredients.

Cutlery from abroad and blessings from Gunma.
We hope you’ll enjoy the pairing
from the very moment you pick it up.

The warm dish is sweet-and-sour pork—
    made with balsamic vinegar.
Its mellow acidity and deep richness
create a plate with a subtle Western touch.

A familiar flavor showing a slightly different expression—
we hope you enjoy that surprise.

For the fish course, as the days grow colder,
we prepared it “à la nage,” generously finished with sauce,
so you can enjoy it warm until the last bite.

    Main meat dish

    ・Pinon Standard
Tender braised pork coated in a Chinese-style crust of sesame seeds, cashews,
and breadcrumbs, served with a soy-based sauce.

    ・Pinon Select
Roasted beef tenderloin served with sautéed mushrooms and a soy-based sauce.
With an additional sesame-and-maitake sauce on the side,
you can change the flavor partway through and enjoy different nuances.

    ・Premium
    Joshu beef steak.

    Dessert is apple—
    it’s apple season.
We serve apple pie with fresh cream mousse.
    Enjoy them separately or together in one spoonful;
each bite is crafted to taste like a different apple pie experience.

As soon as they arrive, our apples will be switched to locally grown fruit from Nakanojo.
The harvest of this land becomes your final plate just as it is.

Please spend an unhurried time at Pinon this autumn.
We look forward to welcoming you.

  • Welcome to Pinon!

Western-style Ryokan Pinon was inspired by my study abroad experience in the UK for about two and a half years when I was in my twenties.

Since childhood, I had dreamed of becoming the proprietress of my family’s Ryokan, and this was also a time when I was preparing to make that dream a reality.

In Ikaho Onsen, known as a therapeutic hot-spring destination,
there were no Accommodations where women could feel safe traveling alone,
no Accommodations where guests could enjoy an unhurried, hotel-like stay,
and no Accommodation where you could savor freshly prepared, delicious Western cuisine.

I always felt that if I were to open an Accommodation,
I would create the kind of place I would want to stay myself—
something truly one of a kind.

With those feelings in mind, this Hotel opened in 1997.

Ever since then, we have consistently offered a space where solo travelers and small groups can fully enjoy a private hotel-style stay,

our carefully crafted “French-style kaiseki,” designed to be enjoyed comfortably with chopsticks,

and hospitality unique to an Onsen town—such as free private baths available 24 hours a day—expressed in ways that are easy to understand and appreciate.

We would be delighted if you visit us
and experience these thoughts for yourself.

All of our staff look forward
    to welcoming you.
