Suigan offers two accommodations: the Main Building and the Annex.

Suigan is located in a corner of Jozankei Onsen within a national park. From the rooms, you can enjoy views of the unique green mountains and rocky valleys of Jozankei. Surrounded by tranquility and untouched nature, this place preserves the original scenery of Jozankei that remains unchanged to this day. 【Suigan Main Building】 All rooms are special suites with private Onsen, offering seven uniquely designed rooms. Each room is distinct, featuring options such as a large open-air bath, a sauna, or a theater space. Meals can be delivered to your private door upon request, allowing you to dine in the comfort of your room. Enjoy the Onsen in your room as many times as you like, whenever you feel like it. We propose a new style of travel where everything—meals, Onsen, and relaxation—can be enjoyed entirely within your room. 【Suigan Annex】 In October 2025, "Matsu wa Naoku Ibara wa Magareri" opened in the Suigan Annex. This Zen phrase, meaning "The pine grows straight, the thorn grows curved; it is good to live naturally and embrace individuality," reflects the concept of this space. The annex features seven Western-style rooms with scenic baths (all rooms are Onsen-equipped and mountain-facing). Meals are served in an open-style restaurant.

  • Well, speaking as a couple, this is gradually becoming our ideal Hotel (laughs). The Room is a comfortable size and never feels cramped. The staff—and the chef and kitchen team—work in perfect sync, and we appreciated being able to enjoy our meals at an unhurried pace. And the in-room Onsen was wonderful. We usually prefer a fully Japanese breakfast, but everything here—from the salad to the main dish—was flawless. If we had to mention one thing, it might be limited to the Rooms on the second floor: when other guests open or close their doors, perhaps due to air pressure, we sometimes heard a rattling sound as our door seemed to shake, which startled us (and it can make you aware of people coming and going).Even so, we keep making another Reservation—this may become our one-and-only Hotel.

  • We felt a bit uneasy because the Reviews were mixed, but for us it was absolutely the right choice. Highly recommended especially for anyone looking for a “staycation” style getaway.[Concept] I can see why opinions vary. Rather than offering the high-touch hospitality, extensive service, and activities you might expect from a typical Ryokan or an international Hotel, this place seems to value letting guests spend time freely at their own pace. That concept suited us perfectly, so we felt very comfortable.[Room & Onsen] Everything we needed was neatly organized in the drawers, and there was no excessive explanation or interference—just a relaxing atmosphere where we could use our time however we liked. The Room called “Aoyagi” feels open and spacious as soon as you enter; it’s just right even for four people. The bathroom area is properly partitioned as well. We were told the Onsen uses natural hot spring water that is cooled naturally to a comfortable temperature without adding water. Personally, I’d recommend visiting around late autumn to winter for the scenery; in summer, insects might be more noticeable. The hair dryer is Dyson.[Meals] The Plan that allows you to dine in your Room is excellent. Everything was delicious, and we could relax without worrying about time or being seen by others—choosing this Plan was definitely the right call. Near the entrance there’s a storage room stocked with drinks and snacks. You can take what you like back to your Room and enjoy it there, which really enhances the overall stay.[Affiliated Facilities] There was a perk that allowed us to use Onsens and saunas within the Suizantei group, and they can also arrange shuttle transportation. We also received complimentary gelato from Ame No Hi and Yuki No Hi (Rainy Day / Snowy Day). Please make sure to visit Holiday Building as well—this perk alone makes a Multiple Night Stay worthwhile. This isn’t directly related to this Accommodation itself, but around town we often saw staff wearing “beginner” name tags at various places—many of them young—and it gave us the sense that the whole area is working together to build momentum. People were kind enough to speak to us just because we were carrying an Accommodation guest pouch; it’s a town that makes you want to come back.A Multiple Night Stay was absolutely the right choice. If your goal is simply to slow down and relax, you’ll be able to enjoy this Hotel’s appeal much more deeply by staying multiple nights. Do you offer any Plans designed specifically for longer stays? Also, having laundry facilities would have been great.

  • [Suigan Annex / Dinner Example]

[Opening in October 2025: Annex “Matsu wa Nao Oku, Ibara wa Magareri”]

In October 2025, “Matsuhanaokku Ibarahamagareri” opened at Suigan Hanare.
Its name comes from the Zen phrase “Matsuchoku Kyokkyoku,” meaning, “Pines grow straight, thorns grow crooked—honor each individuality and live naturally as you are.”
Free from genres and rigid formality, we gather around the table without pretense, enjoying food and conversation together.
We hope to create this kind of dining experience together with our guests.
