GOTO RETREAT ray by Onko Chishin
Nagasaki Prefecture/Goto CityA luxurious stay with 26 rooms, each featuring an Onsen open-air bath and ocean view, surrounded by the nature of the Goto Islands.
[Awarded 1 Michelin Key for Two Consecutive Years, 2024–2025] Fukue Island in the Goto Islands is a remarkable place where prayer and nature exist in harmony—shaped by its history as a port of call for Japanese missions to Tang China and by the enduring faith of Hidden Christians who kept their prayers alive under persecution. Dramatic lava coastlines said to have burst forth from an ogre’s mouth and sweeping panoramas where sky and sea seem to merge invite you into a world of quiet mystery. Embraced by this rich climate and culture, this luxury Hotel was created as a symbol for sharing the allure of the Goto Islands, in an exceptional location adjacent to Saikai National Park. Dining features kaiseki cuisine that showcases the island’s seasonal blessings, beautifully presented course by course. The on-site spa offers treatments infused with the island’s vitality, including Goto camellia, guiding you into the unique serenity and sensibilities of Goto. On Fukue Island—surrounded by pristine seas and abundant nature—enjoy a truly special resort stay that nourishes both body and mind.
After seeing it in a magazine, I’d been wanting to visit for two years, and I finally got to stay here.It was an even more wonderful stay than I had imagined. The meals were delicious, with plenty of local ingredients.I’ll definitely be back!
百名伽藍 6/27/2026I stayed for two nights as a solo traveler. If you’re staying alone, I think only the smallest Room is available, but it was more than spacious enough for one person.Because the Room is small, having the air conditioner blow directly on me while sleeping was a bit tough, but everything else was excellent. With an Onsen on the balcony, I could soak whenever I wanted and relax on the sofa with a book.On the second day, since I had the chance, I rented a car share from the Hotel parking lot and toured the island. At check-in, they gave me a sheet they had made with recommended sightseeing spots on the island, which was very helpful.Takahama Beach is amazing—the “Goto Blue” was incredible. The meals were also great; I enjoyed local specialties such as fish and Goto beef.It seems they changed the menu on the second day only for guests on a Multiple Night Stay. Everything was delicious. If I have another opportunity, this is an Accommodation I’d love to return to for a relaxing getaway away from city noise.

Introduction of the Accommodation
Endless, breathtaking ocean views and a sea breeze that gently surrounds you. Throughout the property, you’ll find design elements inspired by the dynamic, majestic nature unique to Abose. The designs and products that shape the ray space each carry memories of Goto and Nagasaki. Refined by skilled artisans who keep their craft shining today, they offer discoveries found only in this place.

In the midst of religious persecution, the Goto Islands—an island of prayer—kept their faith alive. Feel inspired by this resilient yet graceful way of life, and find energy for tomorrow. Beyond the geopark said to have erupted from “Oni’s Mouth” 50,000 years ago lies a timeless theater of sea and sky that has unfolded since ancient times. Immersive scenery and an open, liberating space for both body and mind. “Cuisine of Light”—Japanese dining that makes generous use of seafood, beef, and island vegetables. The scent of the tide, the winds of Goto, and an eternal sky. Past and future are connected; where there is light, shadows are born as well. In one of the island’s most scenic locations, Fukue Island welcomes its first luxury Hotel.

The design concept is “the view.” By creating an interior where the surrounding scenery seamlessly flows in, we offer an open, airy space that feels as if you are outdoors even while inside the building. Experience the dynamic, majestic nature unique to this location and the beautiful ocean views stretching endlessly into the distance.
