All rooms offer ocean views × private open-air baths — a modern retreat blending timeless tradition with contemporary comfort, surrounded by breathtaking scenery and the soothing sound of waves.

Reopening on November 1, 2025 as a small luxury Accommodation where every Room offers an ocean view and a private open-air bath with free-flowing hot spring water. Beyond the rising steam lies the horizon of Eastern Izu, where sea and sky melt into one. Listen to the soothing surf, and on moonlit nights a magical “Moon Road” appears across the water. Renowned hot spring water—300 liters per minute—flows from two private sources, gently easing both body and mind. Experience “Japanese cuisine of sea and time,” inspired by Izu’s climate and memories. Crafted by our head chef trained at long-established restaurants, each course is beautifully complemented by Sommelier Excellence–selected wines and local sake for a lingering finish. With only 16 Rooms, we offer complimentary room service—timeless new luxury unique to nostalgic Atagawa.

  • We stayed here as a couple. The ocean view from our Room—especially the moonlit scenery—was truly memorable, and simply gazing at it was soothing. The atmosphere and interior design throughout the Accommodation were wonderful, and we really appreciated the quiet, relaxing environment. The dining area was also comfortable, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. We also enjoyed meals and drinks via room service, which made our overall satisfaction during the stay very high. The staff’s service and hospitality were attentive, and we were able to relax in the Onsen while enjoying the view, spending unhurried time together as a couple. We would definitely like to stay again, and it’s an Accommodation we would recommend to relatives and friends.

  • I stayed here to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. The most unforgettable part of this stay was the sunrise over the ocean seen from our Room. It was truly breathtaking—one of the most beautiful views I have ever seen and a memory that will stay with me forever. Thanks to the staff kindly telling us the sunrise time at check-in, we were able to see it at the perfect moment. It’s a view I would highly recommend sharing with someone special. All of the staff were very kind, and we felt comfortable throughout our stay. The open-air bath in the morning was also exceptional; relaxing while feeling the pleasant sea breeze was incredibly soothing. The Room was wonderful as well, and we were able to fully enjoy our special day. Thanks to you, we could celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday as an amazing, lasting memory. I’m truly grateful for such a lovely experience. If we have another opportunity, I would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

The Streetscape of Atagawa, Higashi-Izu
The Charm of Atagawa, Higashi-Izu

The Higashi-Izu Atagawa Onsen area boasts the highest number of Onsen towers per unit of land in Japan, creating an atmospheric hot-spring town where steam rises into the air. On full-moon nights, the “Moon Road” reflected on the sea has been selected as one of Japan’s “100 Finest Moons,” captivating travelers for generations. In Atagawa, the charm of a traditional hot-spring town blends with the calm ambience of a seaside village, and its nostalgic appeal still lives on today. We believe that the “richness” found in familiarity and time spent with care are a true form of luxury in modern life. By reexamining Atagawa’s inherent allure through a contemporary lens, we will share it with you thoughtfully.

A private retreat filled with the sea and Onsen

All rooms offer ocean views and feature private open-air baths. Enjoy a luxurious stay with your own Onsen and scenery, undisturbed by anyone. We also offer four distinctive suites of 100 m² or more. With generous space, you can spend a truly special time. Every room features an ocean-view open-air Onsen bath. And only the suites are equipped with a private sauna. Soak in the bath while gazing out at the sea, and unwind in quiet comfort. A deep sense of relaxation awaits, freeing you from everyday life.

Onsen Image
Named “Atagawa” because Onsen water once gushed forth like a river.

The origin of Atagawa Onsen is said to date back to when rising steam was spotted billowing up from the ground in a field, and the area was named “Atagawa” (“hot river”). Later, in 1931, drilling succeeded in tapping naturally flowing hot spring sources, and during Japan’s postwar period of rapid economic growth it reached its peak amid the group travel boom. As a “Showa-era Onsen town” blessed with abundant hot spring water, it continues to soothe travelers in both body and mind. *Even today, it boasts Japan’s highest number of drilling towers per unit area—13 in total.*

Game Corner
A space for play and relaxation where you can connect with the area’s “memories.”

The game corner, tucked away inside the property, is another spot that captures its nostalgic charm. Classic arcade machines and tabletop games line the space, bringing back memories of getting completely absorbed as a child. The moments spent laughing together—cheering wins and lamenting losses—may be a little imperfect, and that’s exactly what makes them so precious. There’s still a sense of “breathing room” here that you can’t find in the digital world.

Long ago, when building the stone walls of Edo Castle, stone was quarried in Izu.
This “Izu stone,” easy to work with and resistant to fire, was shipped by sea from ports in Higashi-Izu to Edo and is said to have supported these major public works projects.

The “Ishihiki Dokan Festival” recreates the scene of many people hauling those massive stones together.
With drums echoing through the streets as the procession advances, the festival reaches its peak—then concludes with fireworks launched from Atagawa Coast. Now in its 14th year, it is a beloved seasonal tradition that signals the arrival of autumn in Higashi-Izu.

Our guest rooms face directly toward the fireworks. Feel the night breeze on your skin after a hot spring bath—or even while soaking in an open-air bath—and enjoy about 20 minutes of shimmering light from a quiet front-row seat far from the crowds.

As summer’s bustle begins to fade, come experience one more lingering taste of summer in Izu. Watch passion once poured into hauling stone bloom into fireworks across the night sky—an unforgettable evening best enjoyed right from your room.
