  • Thank you for your thoughtful emails even before our stay.On the day, our flight was suddenly canceled and we had to take the ferry, but you quickly adjusted the rental car arrangements. The food was cooked right in front of us, and both the taste and portions were excellent; the drinks were delicious too.The hot spring water quality was great, and we were able to truly relax in both body and mind.Everything was perfect!

  • The best part was the meals. The large abalone, shabu-shabu, and lightly seared dishes were incredibly delicious. On the second day, we had the purple sea urchin course.I had enjoyed sea urchin at sushi restaurants during the day, but what I had at the Hotel was completely different—truly outstanding.During meals, the Hotel staff’s kind attentiveness and conversation made it even more special. The bath was also wonderful and left my skin smooth. It was a happy time. Thank you very much.

Iki Island, a treasure trove of local ingredients—authentic flavors from the sea you can’t take home

We approach each ingredient with simplicity and never compromise. We cook and serve the finest ingredients on the spot, freshly harvested and at their peak. In major cities like Tokyo and Osaka, top-quality ingredients from around the world are available, but they cannot be prepared in the just-caught, just-harvested condition that Iki offers. More often, ingredients are aged to draw out flavor, chefs add various touches to enhance presentation, and dishes are beautifully plated on fine tableware. That is wonderful in its own way, but what we offer at Kairi cannot be replicated in the city. Naturally, these flavors can only be enjoyed by visiting Iki—and dining at Kairi.

An ideal hot spring for beauty—just soak and let it envelop you.

The golden, shimmering Onsen at Kairi Murakami is classified as “hypertonic,” indicating a rich mineral content. Long cherished by the local community, it has been valued as a therapeutic bath known for helping its ingredients penetrate the skin. With strong antibacterial and moisturizing properties, it is also a rare spring quality prized as a “beauty bath,” gently removing dead skin cells while keeping the skin hydrated. We have also received the following comment from Onsen Sommelier Grand Master Kazuhiro Toma: “An ideal beauty bath that cleanses and then protects.” Kairi Murakami Onsen Sommeliers The best way to enjoy an Onsen depends on its mineral composition. At Kairi Murakami, four Onsen Sommeliers are available to support you with effective bathing methods tailored to your needs. Please feel free to consult us during your visit.

Room
All rooms offer ocean views with natural hot spring water.

A well-maintained space that faces the times with sincerity and is not swayed by passing trends will soothe your mind. From our all ocean-view guest rooms, you can enjoy scenery that changes with the passing of time. The contrast between the sunset over Yunomoto Bay—selected as one of Japan’s 100 Best Sunsets—and the deep, brilliant blue of the following morning is what makes this ocean view truly magical.

Home of the Heart

The views at Kairi remind you where your heart truly belongs. The name “Kairi” was chosen so that this seaside place could become a “home village” for our guests. Whether you are returning or visiting for the first time, you can enjoy panoramic views of Yumoto Bay—unchanged for over 1,700 years—along with exceptional cuisine and our free-flowing natural hot spring Onsen. Kairi’s sunset is like a natural calendar that tells the seasons. And in front of it all, the smiles of our guests. This place becomes a new home, connections grow, people gather, a “village” is formed and rises. A new story begins here.

Remarks
[Hours] 15:00–24:00 / 6:00–11:00 This Onsen is said to have been naturally springing forth for about 1,700 years. According to the Iki no Kuni Zoku Fudoki, Empress Jingū stopped here on her way back from the campaign against the Three Kingdoms of Korea and discovered the self-gushing hot spring. Legend also says that she used this water for Emperor Ōjin’s first bath and soothed her body and mind after childbirth, which is why it has long been cherished as a fertility Onsen. The golden, shimmering Onsen water is “hypertonic,” a sign of its rich concentration. For generations, it has been loved by locals as a therapeutic bath known for its easily absorbed minerals. With strong antibacterial and moisturizing properties, it is also prized as a beauty bath that gently removes dead skin while keeping moisture in. Kazuhiko Tōma, Grand Master Onsen Sommelier, has praised it as “the ideal beauty bath that cleanses and protects.” Because bathing methods can be optimized depending on an Onsen’s mineral content, four certified Onsen Sommeliers at Kairi Murakami are available to help you enjoy the most effective way to bathe based on your needs.
