  • This Accommodation was a relaxing retreat for calm, mature guests, surrounded by an abundance of books. With high ceilings, beautiful lighting, and walls that serve as a library, the interior—unified in deep brown tones—was tasteful, impeccably clean, and truly impressive. Through the large windows we could see a blue sky and dazzling greenery, and the coolness of the splashing mountain stream came right through.Old libraries often have a distinctive smell, but this Accommodation had well-maintained air conditioning to prevent the books from becoming moldy. The dining area was beautifully designed as well, and the elaborate dishes were delicious. Even though I’m not fond of game meat, I enjoyed everything. From steak to soup curry at the end… there were so many treats that I wished I could have eaten it all in two rounds. The baths were also spotless; the open-air bath was spacious and wonderful. From the private bath we could clearly see the stars… I did wish we could turn off the bath lights, but complete darkness might be unsafe. The hot stone sauna was great too—I checked constellations with my limited knowledge while looking up at a sky full of stars reflected on the ceiling, and worked up a pleasant sweat. After eating my fill and trying every bath, I fell fast asleep without getting to read as much as I wanted. The sleep was deep and high quality. An Accommodation that definitely makes you want to come back again.

About Hygiene Measures
[Introduced on June 1: Original Hygiene and Disinfection Program] At Tateshina Shinyu Onsen, we have introduced our original hygiene and disinfection program starting June 1. Our accommodation has always prioritized the safety and peace of mind of our guests, implementing hygiene management measures including those to prevent the spread of COVID-19. To ensure an even safer stay for our guests, we are pleased to announce the implementation of a comprehensive original hygiene and disinfection program. [Original Hygiene and Disinfection Program] The new program introduced on June 1, 2020, is structured around three key perspectives: [1] "Facility Hygiene Management" [2] "Prevention of Infection from People" [3] "Hygiene Management Training" In addition to previous efforts in hygiene management, this program incorporates new action standards aimed at avoiding the “Three Cs” (Closed spaces, Crowded places, Close-contact settings) as well as principles such as “Do not bring bacteria or viruses,” “Do not let them multiply,” and “Eliminate them.” The measures cover a wide range of actions. We aim to create an environment where both guests and staff can feel safe by dedicating more time and effort than ever before to hygiene management and disinfection tasks. *This program is based on guidelines from the Japan Ryokan & Hotel Association's "Guidelines for COVID-19 Measures in Accommodation Facilities (Version 1)" as well as the Ministry of Health’s "HACCP-based Sanitation Management Handbook."
