Nagano Prefecture/Tateshina Onsen

Immerse yourself in reading with a collection of 3,000 books in the lounge and enjoy a stay with a serene mountain stream open-air bath.

A relaxing retreat for adults surrounded by knowledge and nature. Enjoy the blessings of Mount Tateshina with five stunning open-air hot springs along the stream and a private restaurant. Relax in the intellectual space of a lounge with 30,000 books and indulge in a hideaway stay (a secluded getaway).

  • The meals, the Room, and every other space were all wonderfully comfortable and relaxing. There was a great selection of books—many older titles in a variety of bindings, as well as plenty of new ones—so for a book lover like me, it felt like heaven. We were three women traveling together, and at night we didn’t even talk—we each quietly read our own books until we fell asleep. It was the best time. Next time, I’d love to do a Multiple Night Stay and fully immerse myself in reading, so I’d be happy if prices don’t go up too much or if there’s a good-value Multiple Night Stay Plan! The food was also delicious, and the Onsen Facility was excellent: non-slip flooring in the large public bath, a stone sauna, and private Onsen baths. The staff were also very kind and welcoming with warm smiles. Thank you very much.

  • We were able to spend a wonderful day at the end of summer. From the moment we arrived at the Accommodation until we left, it felt like a truly relaxing time. All of the staff were excellent. Of course, the meals were also beautifully prepared, and we admired each dish before enjoying it. We were disappointed that no Room with an open-air bath was available, but we thoroughly enjoyed the Onsen at our preferred temperature in both the large public bath and the open-air bath, so we were very satisfied. We heard this was just after peak season, which seemed fortunate for our trip as seniors.Next time, we would love to visit in a different season as well. On the train ride home, we thought that traveling with this Accommodation as the sole purpose would be wonderful too.Lastly, thank you very much for kindly accommodating changes when they arose. Thank you again.

About Hygiene Measures

Our accommodation has always prioritized the safety and peace of mind of our guests, implementing hygiene management measures including those to prevent the spread of COVID-19. To ensure an even safer stay for our guests, we are pleased to announce the implementation of a comprehensive original hygiene and disinfection program. [Original Hygiene and Disinfection Program] The new program introduced on June 1, 2020, is structured around three key perspectives: [1] "Facility Hygiene Management" [2] "Prevention of Infection from People" [3] "Hygiene Management Training" In addition to previous efforts in hygiene management, this program incorporates new action standards aimed at avoiding the “Three Cs” (Closed spaces, Crowded places, Close-contact settings) as well as principles such as “Do not bring bacteria or viruses,” “Do not let them multiply,” and “Eliminate them.” The measures cover a wide range of actions. We aim to create an environment where both guests and staff can feel safe by dedicating more time and effort than ever before to hygiene management and disinfection tasks. *This program is based on guidelines from the Japan Ryokan & Hotel Association's "Guidelines for COVID-19 Measures in Accommodation Facilities (Version 1)" as well as the Ministry of Health’s "HACCP-based Sanitation Management Handbook."
