    The Best Day

    This was our second stay as a couple, and just like last time, we were completely satisfied with everything. The Room was very clean, and the food was delicious—we enjoyed every dish. After dinner, we relaxed in the lounge and then enjoyed the Onsen in our Room; it made for a perfect day. Thank you to all the staff. We will definitely return.

    It’s truly just a sh...

    It’s truly just a short walk from Izumo Taisha, yet the area is very quiet and comfortable from evening to night. Above all, the meals here were outstanding. I’m a picky eater and also have allergies, so I usually struggle with course meals, but they carefully asked about my needs in advance by phone, and on the day they replaced each dish accordingly. Thanks to that, I was able to enjoy every dish at both dinner and breakfast. Thank you for your thoughtful attention.

    A Wonderful Auberge

    We visited as a couple. The staff were pleasant from the welcome to the send-off. Since the Accommodation is in town, we gave up on having a view, but everything was clean and well maintained, which made our stay very comfortable. The Onsen was nice and we used it many times; since it is a circulating system it can’t be helped, but if there had been a bit more hot water volume, it might have felt even better. The bed was very comfortable to sleep in, and it was great that pajamas were provided. The number of towels was perfect as well. Meals were Japanese cuisine using local ingredients; everything was thoughtfully prepared, and we enjoyed every dish all the way through dessert. As expected, the clam soup was excellent too. The only thing that bothered us: we ordered sake to go with dinner, but the amount poured into the small glass was extremely little—about 50 ml? It felt disappointing. It was gone in two or three sips; I would have liked at least half a glass. It’s a shame because the food was so good. Although I’ve mentioned this criticism, I think this Accommodation was wonderful overall. If we visit Shimane again, we would like to stay here again.

    Discover the charm of Shimane.

    The meals were exceptionally delicious and made for a truly memorable dining experience. Every dish made with local ingredients was wonderful, and I’m quickly falling in love with the charm of Shimane. Not only was the food outstanding, but this is the first Accommodation where I was genuinely moved by how delicious the white rice was. I was also surprised to hear that they even change the rice grain size between dinner and breakfast. I quite enjoy solo travel, but one common thing is ending up scrolling on my phone during gaps between course dishes. Here, however, the coordination between the dining staff and kitchen was excellent, so everything flowed smoothly from start to finish—making it a smart, delicious, and enjoyable meal. Also, since it’s close to Izumo Taisha Shrine, visiting early in the morning before breakfast felt almost like having it all to myself, which made it even more special. My main purpose was to visit Izumo Taisha Shrine, but thanks to this trip I discovered Kamitouraku-san and experienced Shimane’s cuisine—making it a wonderful journey that deepened my appreciation for Shimane. It’s not an easy distance from Kanto for a casual trip, but I would love to visit at least once a year for another great meal. Thank you very much.

    Everything was great.

    Thank you very much for your hospitality. I have stayed at many Ryokan, but the buns and rice crackers provided in the Room were not gluten-free; however, Kararako accommodated this properly. The grilled cutlassfish was also excellent, and I suspected it wasn’t cooked with a typical steam oven—when I asked the head chef as we were leaving, that turned out to be true. The Nita rice was delicious in a way we can’t replicate at home, with a natural sweetness and freshness. Before our stay, I wondered if it might be designed by a famous architect known for extensive use of wood; apparently not. Even so, although it looked like cleaning would be difficult, everything was thoroughly cleaned and well maintained, which made us feel at ease. We also used the hair salon and felt very relaxed. The sound quality of the in-room speaker was great, and when I called later to ask about it, you kindly explained in detail. If I had to mention one thing, it would be the small bubbles on the inside of the glass when I ordered champagne by the glass. We would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

    I stayed here during...

    I stayed here during the severe cold wave at the end of January when visiting Izumo Taisha Shrine. Everything was simply outstanding. The open-air bath in my Room was magical—snow falling and the air freezing, yet once I soaked in the hot water it felt like paradise, and I went back and forth between the Room and the bath again and again. The meals were also extremely satisfying, both dinner and breakfast. The local vegetables were excellent as well. All of the staff were truly kind and helpful. The goshuincho (temple stamp book) gift for Diamond members was also wonderful, and I will treasure it. When I visit Izumo Taisha Shrine again, this is the Accommodation I will choose.

    Highly satisfied.

    Although I stayed alone, I was completely satisfied with everything—the staff’s service, the meals, the in-room Onsen, and the amenities. There were some issues such as my flight being canceled, but I’m truly glad I was able to stay here. The meals in particular were filled with delicious local dishes made with care, and the drinks were reasonably priced. However, I got so full that toward the end I asked for smaller portions. It was so comfortable that I ended up staying until the very last minute. Thank you very much.

    The chef is working so hard, but...

    Before serving the food, the chef came to greet guests and always put them first. However, several guests were dissatisfied with the staff’s service at both dinner and breakfast. At dinner, drinks were ordered but arrived very late; even after asking again to have alcohol brought with the meat course, it was not served until after the meat had been finished and rice and miso soup were already on the table. A staff member then laughed and said, “So you’d like a refill of alcohol.” I tried to overlook it because the food was delicious and I could feel how hard the chef was working. But at breakfast, cherry tomato juice—said to be available in the morning—never arrived despite having been pre-ordered at dinner (while other guests did receive it). When asked, a staff member laughed and replied, “I forgot.” Although dining seats are assigned by Room for guests staying here, a guest who complained about their seat at dinner (entering the restaurant in clothing that made tattoos visible) demanded a change. The next morning at breakfast, that complaining guest was given a spacious seat, while another guest who had been seated there at dinner was moved to a cramped seat. When asked about this, staff said seats change at breakfast; however, since breakfast times can be chosen yet other guests remained in their same seats as dinner, this felt like nothing more than an excuse. The complaining guest started breakfast at 9:00; the guest moved to the cramped seat started at 8:00. The complaining guest laughed upon seeing them. Another dissatisfied guest waited for dessert after breakfast while staff repeatedly walked past without acknowledging them. The wife felt unwell and left. Since there is a menu for both dinner and breakfast, guests know what should be served. As soon as staff realized an angry guest had left mid-meal, they ran past other diners in haste to chase them down and said, “The chef will tell us not to embarrass him, so please eat your dessert before you go.” There did not seem to be too few staff members—so why did this happen? It is true that there are repeat visitors; I believe that is thanks to both the chef’s efforts and many of the staff’s hard work. But I want you to understand that poor service from even a few staff members can leave guests feeling upset and turn happy memories into unpleasant ones. I hope the chef continues doing his best going forward.

    Warm, heartfelt hospitality—more than satisfied beyond expectations!

    Thank you very much for your hospitality. We were warmly welcomed by the kind smiles of all the staff and enjoyed a comfortable stay in a lovely Room. As this is an auberge, we especially looked forward to the meals. Every dish was truly delicious, making the most of seasonal flavors from local mountain vegetables, produce, fish, freshwater clams, meat, rice, sake, and fruit. The tableware chosen for each course and the seasonal decorations such as fresh green maple leaves were also wonderful, making our dining experience relaxing and enjoyable. We were touched by the chef’s and staff’s thoughtful care and enjoyed our conversations as well. It became a memorable trip that will stay with us for a long time. We are sincerely grateful. Although it’s quite far… we would love to visit again.

    We had a wonderful time.

    The cuisine, hospitality, and Facility were all outstanding. Meals in particular were wonderful. Each dish was carefully prepared using local ingredients, and I couldn’t wait for the next course to arrive. The staff who served the meals also gave helpful advice on drinks and provided thorough explanations of each dish, so I was able to enjoy dining at a relaxed pace even as a solo female traveler. Breakfast was delicious as well. If I have the chance to visit Izumo again, I would definitely like to stay here again.

    Extremely satisfied

    We truly enjoyed our stay. Since this is an auberge, the highlight is the cuisine—we savored it with all five senses. Before we knew it, three hours had passed. The Room and bath were also wonderfully relaxing. Just as the staff recommended, we visited Inasa Beach early in the morning and then paid a visit to Izumo Taisha Shrine. We were able to enjoy the serene atmosphere before the crowds arrived (even though we were tourists too). And on top of that, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. It became a trip we will never forget. Thank you very much.

    This is a wonderful accommodation.

    This was my second stay. I was so impressed by how delicious the food was last time that I came back, and once again I was truly impressed. Beyond the cuisine, you can feel the spirit of hospitality in every detail, including the Room amenities. The staff service was also excellent. As someone who loves traveling and stays at many Hotels and Accommodations, I can confidently recommend this place.

    Relax and enjoy delicious food.

    We stayed here for our visit to Izumo Taisha Shrine. We were pleasantly surprised at how comfortable it was to spend time in the Room, and the semi-open-air bath—though it doesn’t offer an outside view—was very relaxing. The meals reflected the season and were a delight to enjoy with the eyes as well; it was a truly blissful time. Thank you for the wonderful food.

    Very satisfied again.

    I’m impressed every time, but this time I was able to discover even more of the secrets behind your delicious cuisine. Of course, it’s not only the head chef’s outstanding skill, but also the heartfelt desire to serve truly great food, deep respect for the producers of each ingredient, and a team that supports one another while sharing knowledge. That is what creates such a moving experience for us. I don’t think we’ll ever find an Accommodation better than this. We look forward to staying with you again.

    It was a great Accommodation.

    We had a wonderful one-night stay as a couple. The Room was just the right size, with a table and chairs in the tatami area, so we could relax and enjoy drinks in the evening. The meals made the most of the ingredients, and we enjoyed them with sake—especially the freshwater clams, which were delicious. The bar was also reasonably priced and had a great atmosphere.

    It was very convenient, located close to Izumo Taisha Shrine. The meals were beautifully presented, and the taste was excellent—truly what you would expect from an auberge. The service was also very pleasant, and I would like to stay here again when I visit Izumo.

    As expected of a Japanese auberge!

    While looking for an Accommodation with great dining for our trip to Izumo Taisha, we came across “Wa Auberge Kandoraku,” which ranks highly in IKYU Reviews. As expected from a top-ranked property, the quality of the meals was outstanding, and it made for a very satisfying trip. Drinks in the refrigerator were also included in the room rate, which felt like a great value.

    It was a perfect stay in every way.

    “Such wonderful hospitality—my first time experiencing anything like it!” Located less than a 5-minute walk from Izumo Taisha Shrine, it was extremely convenient for sightseeing. From the atmosphere of the Facility and the amenities to, above all, the hospitality of the staff, everything was comfortable, and we were able to enjoy a pleasant stay from start to finish. We actually hadn’t planned to have either breakfast or dinner at the Hotel this time, but we unexpectedly had the chance—and what we were served truly moved us. Every dish made great use of local Shimane ingredients: the clams were large and plump, and the vegetables and fish were delicious. Each item was carefully plated. We could really feel the thoughtful attention that’s possible only at a small Hotel. It was also impressive to see how they even remembered what guests on a Multiple Night Stay had been drinking the day before and served meals suited to each person. The chef’s dedication to creating dishes tailored to every guest felt genuinely warm. It was also wonderful to see staff naturally striking up conversations so that even guests traveling alone could enjoy their time. Thank you so much for welcoming us so warmly. Thanks to you, this became an unforgettable trip with my mother. When I visit Izumo again, I would love to stay here again.

    It was excellent.

    This Accommodation exceeded all expectations in every way. The Onsen and the cleanliness of the Room were excellent, and mealtimes were truly outstanding. Everything was perfect—the delicious food, the timing of each course, explanations of the ingredients, and above all, the attentiveness and warmth of the chef and all staff.     A Comfortable Stay

    The food was delicious and heartfelt. I was impressed by the fresh local ingredients, beautiful presentation, and tableware. The attentive staff also made the stay very comfortable. The hot water was pleasant, the Room was quiet, and I was satisfied with the bedding. I visit the Sanin area every year to eat live crab, but this time they served a variety of ingredients besides crab as well, which felt very healthy. Even after checkout, they kindly let us leave our car so we could take our time visiting Izumo Taisha Shrine.\nI would like to visit again in a different season.

    Great value for money

    Perhaps because the view from the window overlooks an ordinary shopping street, the window glass does not seem to be cleaned often, and it was dirty all over. The young head chef and staff made a good impression, but the quality of the food itself was not particularly impressive. Still, since they are young, I have high hopes for the future. The white rice was the most delicious. The value for money may not be very good.

    Thank you very much for taking such good care of us. I usually drive from home, but this time I chose a train trip on the newly renewed Yakumo, so choosing this Accommodation—close to Izumo Taisha-mae Station and located along Shinmon-dori—was absolutely the right decision. It was an Accommodation I had wanted to visit because of its high Review ratings, but since I decided at the last minute, it was very disappointing that meals were not available even though it is an auberge (No Meals Included plan). When I asked if you could add breakfast only, you kindly agreed—thank you very much. The staff’s language and hospitality were very pleasant and attentive. One thing I wondered about: although the breakfast tasted wonderful (I’m sorry I didn’t have dinner), most of the items were quite small overall—was the main dish meant to be the shijimi clam soup? That left me a little unsure. Also, I would have liked a bit more coffee and tea in the Room, as well as more water in the refrigerator. (This is purely my personal impression; it’s not that anything was bad.) I always feel that no matter how good the food or services are, poor hospitality ruins everything—but this Accommodation had absolutely no issues in that regard. When I visit Izumo by train again, I would love to stay here again. Please excuse my candid comments.

    Wonderful hospitality

    We found this Hotel while searching for sightseeing at Izumo Taisha and crab cuisine, and we had a truly comfortable stay. The location was great, the food was delicious, and the generous use of crab made it feel like a special experience. Above all, the staff were very attentive and approachable, so we were able to relax without feeling any distance. This is a bit embarrassing to admit, but we visited to celebrate my husband’s birthday and forgot to mention it in advance. During dinner, I casually said it was a birthday trip while chatting with the staff member serving us, and everyone warmly celebrated with us. Both my husband and I were very happy, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The breakfast rice was also excellent—I ended up having multiple refills. The Izumo matcha cake for dessert was outstanding, and you can also buy it as a souvenir. We would love to stay here again when we visit Izumo.

    Pair your visit to Izumo Taisha Shrine with this experience!

    First-time stay, and the high ratings are well-deserved! Located near Izumo Taisha, the building is a recipient of the Good Design Award. The highlight has to be the meals! Just as the reviews say, they are meticulously crafted with local ingredients and tableware. Not only delicious but visually stunning as well—an absolutely satisfying evening. The selection of rare sake was impressive, and I enjoyed trying many varieties. Thanks to shijimi clams, I woke up feeling refreshed the next morning despite indulging in drinks. Breakfast was filled with delicious dishes (including shijimi soup) and an abundance of desserts! Sweet lovers will surely be overjoyed by their quality. The room had an onsen that maintained a perfect temperature at all times—a blessing for warming up after visiting shrines in cold weather. According to staff explanations, it uses pure spring water without any added water, with natural mineral deposits floating on top. The room exuded a warm wooden ambiance with a soothing atmosphere—it even had a meditation room which was surprising! Every aspect of this accommodation was exceptional and unforgettable—a truly remarkable experience that left lasting memories. I feel so fortunate to have discovered this place. If you're visiting Izumo Taisha, this is undoubtedly where you should stay! I'll definitely return again someday. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality!

    Izumo After 3 Months

    Thank you always for the wonderful stay. This time, I was upgraded to a larger Room and enjoyed a more relaxing experience. Thank you very much. The only slight disappointment was that the beloved chef was not present during dinner. I heard they were out searching for new ingredients? I look forward to even more delicious dishes in the future. I will visit again!

    Absolutely wonderful.

    Everything was wonderful. The hospitality was excellent. The shutō was delicious and paired perfectly with sake. The clams in the shijimi soup were large and very tasty. The robot, Arame-chan, was very cute.

    New Year's Visit with Izumo Gourmet

    The auberge exceeded expectations, especially regarding the quality of the meals. Each dish, though seemingly simple, was meticulously prepared with excellent ingredients and tasted incredible. The service staff's explanations enhanced the overall satisfaction of the experience. Particularly memorable were the duck and Spanish mackerel dishes. While the Matsuba crab itself was average, its ponzu sauce was delightful. The aroma of the shijimi clams was astonishing and left a strong impression. Portion sizes are perfect for children, women, or those with smaller appetites; however, offering options like steak for an additional 5,000 yen could further enhance satisfaction. While we understand that there is a carefully curated plan by the chef, this suggestion might be worth considering. Unlike many ryokans where breakfast can sometimes feel underwhelming with thinly dried fish dishes, here breakfast continued to carry over from last night's exquisite dining experience—delicious and satisfying. There is also a No Meals Included Plan available; however, it would be a shame to stay at an auberge without indulging in their culinary delights. Highly recommended!

    Thank you for your hospitality the other day. Thanks to the warm service of the staff and the delicious meals, I always have a wonderful time and am truly grateful! The head spa at the beauty salon is also a blissful experience. Thank you as always. This time, I stayed with a friend, and my friend was also very satisfied and delighted. I will visit again in February with my husband, so please take care of us then. Looking forward to Kararako-san's crab dishes!
