    It didn’t live up to my expectations.

    Because my stays during the opening year left such a strong impression, this time felt less inspiring. Including the selection of drinks and small bites in the guest lounge, I felt there is now a clear gap compared with your affiliated Hotel in Hakone. I was also disappointed that the facial steamer previously provided in the Room had been removed. If possible, I would appreciate it if you could offer one on request as a loan item. Also, while I understand that the delayed Shuttle Service at Atami Station may have been unavoidable due to traffic, in this extreme heat it was simply tough. On departure, because my Reservation time was awkward, having to take a taxi while watching the Shuttle Service bus right in front of me—especially for such a short distance—was discouraging at the end of the trip. Perhaps I would not have been this disappointed if I had not stayed twice at your affiliated Hotel in Hakone before...

    I stayed here to celebrate my birthday.

    We stayed here to celebrate my husband’s birthday. I knew Atami would be crowded because it was during the Obon holidays, but when the Shuttle Service was delayed, there wasn’t even an apology. It was 50 minutes late. We had a baby with us, so our baby was fussy in the car... We arrived at the Accommodation and check-in ended up being late. However, the Room was very clean, the Onsen felt wonderful, and both the lounge food and drinks were excellent—with so many options it was hard to choose!! At dinner time, since we had a baby, they arranged a private room for us. Dinner itself was very luxurious and everything tasted great, but each dish came out slowly. It took two hours for everything to be served, and dinner took two and a half hours in total. Since we had a baby with us, I wanted them to serve more efficiently. On our departure day as well, the Shuttle Service schedule didn’t have a convenient time due to congestion, so we asked for a taxi. Taxis were also busy and it took quite a while to find one. The driver said it would be crowded on the way to Atami Station and suggested taking back roads; since we didn’t know the area at all, we left it up to him. It was an extremely narrow road with steep ups and downs—so tight that cars could barely pass—and then an oncoming car appeared. Even the taxi driver seemed unsure what to do. There were three cars behind us heading toward Atami Station as well. We assumed the oncoming car would back up, but they showed no intention of doing so and kept pushing forward. In the end we had no choice but to reverse ourselves; just as we finally reached a spot where we could pass each other safely, our tire got stuck and there was contact. When the other driver got out of their car—unbelievably—it turned out to be your Shuttle Service vehicle. The older man driving it was unfriendly; he curtly told us how to turn the steering wheel “like this” in order to get out. There weren’t any guests in his vehicle at all. If he had backed up from the start this wouldn’t have happened—and later I learned that if your Shuttle Service vehicle had reversed just a little bit more (or even slightly), we could have reached a wider road. That lack of consideration left me feeling very disappointed.

    The best accommodation you'll want to come back to.

    The Room was wonderful, and the food was absolutely outstanding. Above all, the staff’s hospitality and service were truly exceptional—it reminded me once again how important people are. I had a lovely one-night stay, and it has become a place I definitely want to visit at least once every six months. Thank you very much.

    It was amazing!

    It was a spontaneous trip. I’d been wanting to visit for a long time, so when I found an available room, I booked immediately! Everything about the hospitality was wonderful. Since it was the Obon holiday, the roads were crowded, and we truly appreciated the thoughtful, warm support—staff even came to the station in the heat to let us know when the Shuttle Service bus arrived. The food was delicious, and the Onsen was so relaxing—it helped melt away our everyday fatigue. I’d be happy to visit again during a cooler season. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

    Please note that extra caution is required on the lower floors.

    I was really looking forward to my first stay, but the Room we were initially shown was on the 2nd floor right after getting off the elevator. The open-air bath in the guest room faced the neighboring Hotel building (with windows) directly in front of it, so it wasn’t possible to use the bath during daylight hours. After discussing this with staff, we paid an upgrade fee and were moved to a Room on the 4th floor. From there, we could fully enjoy our stay—relaxing in the open-air bath and taking in ocean views from both the lanai and the bath. The dining, lounge, and service were all excellent, so overall we were very satisfied. However, I now clearly understand why IKYU lists this Room type as “lower floor.” We would love to return, and next time I plan to book a higher-floor Room or a Karaku Room.

    Enjoy a comfortable Hotel stay.

    This was our first time staying here. I visited with my elderly parents, and thanks to the staff’s courteous service, we were able to relax and feel at ease throughout our stay. The Onsen, the meals, and the views were all wonderful, and we also really enjoyed spending time in the two lounges with different atmospheres—it was truly relaxing. We would love to stay again!

    The facilities and location are excellent, but…

    I understand that prices in Atami are high during the Obon holiday period, but the meals and lounge offerings lacked originality, and while there was a wide selection of drinks, they did not meet my expectations. However, the large public bath with panoramic views of Sagami Bay, the spacious and clean Room, and the in-house facilities were excellent. Many of the staff seemed to be in training, and it felt like a test period during Obon; this may be a somewhat harsh comment, but it did not feel up to the standard of a luxury Ryokan. Paying close to 200,000 yen for one night with two meals in a lower-floor Room makes me unsure whether I would want to return.

    Guest Room Information & Description

    Overall, I was very satisfied, but it was disappointing that the explanation during the Room guidance after check-in was somewhat inaccurate. For example, I was told that towels and yukata would all be provided at the large public bath so it would be fine to go empty-handed, but in fact there was no obi (sash) provided, which left me confused.

    We visited again to celebrate my mother’s 88th birthday.

    This is our third stay, drawn by Aiju’s sushi and the wonderfully relaxing infinity Onsen. This time again, we enjoyed meals that exceeded our expectations and a comfortable, welcoming space. The sushi features seasonal ingredients with thoughtful variety each time, so it never gets old. We will make another Reservation. Thank you very much.

    A wonderful time

    A family trip with two families to celebrate my mother’s 77th birthday and my nephew’s birthday. The surprise cake at dinner made it a wonderful family memory. They also accommodated our food allergies, so we could enjoy the delicious meals with peace of mind. Thank you for the outstanding hospitality.

    This is my third visit this year.

    By a happy coincidence and perfect timing, this was our third stay this year, following April and May. This time, for the first time, we stayed with eight relatives across a wide range of ages, and made Reservations for three Rooms. We chose Karaku for a long-awaited family trip and to celebrate my elderly mother’s birthday. I had requested a bouquet in advance, and you prepared something beautiful that perfectly matched her taste—she was truly delighted. As always, the meals were delicious and full of seasonal flavors. The clay-pot rice at dinner surprises us every time with its creative combinations, and it’s one of the highlights we look forward to most. The Rooms and the entire Accommodation are kept impeccably clean. Even the balcony sandals had been replaced with new ones, which made us feel that safety had improved even further. We also appreciated your thoughtful care for our young children—it helped us so much. My mother said, “I’ve never had an Accommodation I wanted to visit again before—but this is the first place that made me want to come back.” Hearing that made me truly glad we chose Karaku to celebrate her birthday. It was our first time staying during peak season, so I was a little worried; however, even during such a busy time in August, the staff kindly exchanged emails with us multiple times in advance. Throughout our one-night/two-day stay as well, everyone’s smiles and hospitality were incredibly comforting and supportive. Thank you very much. Next time—just the two of us as a couple; with our senior friends; and again with my mother too. We’re already discussing when we should come back next with my husband.

    It’s the best memory ever!

    We had the pleasure of staying in the Karaku Room on this occasion. It was the best Accommodation we have ever experienced, and my girlfriend and I were able to spend a truly happy time. We are sincerely grateful! We were satisfied with everything. If I had to mention one thing, we felt that dinner was served a little slowly. However, we believe that is because it is a wonderful place where guests enjoy drinks and take their time over dinner. Since neither of us drinks alcohol, that may be why we felt that way. The food was very delicious. I also work in customer service, and I believe the Hotel industry represents the highest level of hospitality. All of your staff were truly wonderful, and we could feel how much effort each person puts in. You reminded me to keep learning and to reflect on my own work again. Thank you very much. To all your wonderful staff: I know it is truly demanding work, but please take good care of yourselves. Please let us stay again someday without fail! Thank you very much for everything.

    It exceeded our expectations!

    This Accommodation far exceeded our expectations. The sweets were delicious, and the coffee—ground from beans to our preference and freshly brewed—was outstanding. Both the 6th-floor lounge and the 8th-floor lounge with panoramic ocean views were truly amazing. The Room was spotless with stylish interiors, and we were able to relax in the open-air bath on the terrace while listening to the sound of the waves as background music. The meals were also excellent. I felt the portions were just right, though some guests might find them a little small. I stayed with my elderly mother, and we felt reassured because the floor in the large public bath was slip-resistant. The staff were very pleasant and kind. It was a real standout Accommodation—the best we’ve had in a long time—and we’d love to visit again!

    We had a very relaxing stay.

    The large windows offered a full ocean view, and I felt very relaxed throughout my stay. The staff were always smiling, courteous, and provided pleasant service. The food was excellent, with a wide variety even at breakfast, and everything looked beautiful, from the tableware to the presentation. It was an Accommodation that made me want to visit again.

    The views and the cleanliness of the property were excellent, but perhaps because it was a busy season, it felt understaffed or as if there were many new staff members (we had to wait, and even basic questions were not answered promptly). In addition, responses to inquiries made in advance and to lost-and-found requests took a very long time, which was disappointing (it was difficult to even confirm whether anything had been found, so we gave up). The food was delicious, but considering the price, the portions felt small.

    We were very satisfied with this wonderful accommodation.

    I stayed here with my elderly mother. She loves Onsen, but as she has gotten older, I was a bit worried about traveling to Atami and getting around the Accommodation. However, all the staff kindly checked in on us, and we were able to relax with complete peace of mind. The Room offered breathtaking ocean views, and both the meals and the Onsen exceeded our expectations—making this a truly memorable stay. Thank you so much. We will definitely return!

    A Wonderful Time

    I stayed here with my daughter and grandchild, and we were very satisfied—the Facility and service were excellent. The fireworks we watched right in front of us while soaking in the open-air bath were amazing.

    Couple in their 30s

    My husband was able to take an unexpected long break, so we stayed at Karaku for the first time. Because it was a last-minute Reservation, we couldn’t book a Plan with dinner and stayed with breakfast only, but it was such a wonderful Accommodation that we wished we had added dinner as well. The view from the 8th-floor lounge was especially stunning, and we were able to relax and lose track of time. The large public bath was very clean, and I was happy that there were ReFa hair dryers as well as facial devices available. There are two lounges, both very comfortable. We could unwind with drinks and truly recover from everyday fatigue. Many of the staff members were from overseas, but everyone greeted us with a smile and kindly assisted us, making our stay very pleasant. This time we stayed as a couple, but next time I’d love to return with my mother. Then, I’d like to enjoy a longer stay with a Plan that includes dinner. Thank you for the wonderful time. We will visit again.

    Moved by the fireworks viewed from the open-air bath

    This time, we stayed for a short stay. Since fireworks were scheduled for that day, we made our Reservation to match. In the evening it started to rain, and we worried it might be canceled—but right on time, powerful sounds filled the air and fireworks spread out before our eyes. They felt close enough to touch. Beer and fireworks while soaking in the open-air bath—there’s no greater luxury. We were completely satisfied and felt truly refreshed. And Karaku’s hospitality is as wonderful as ever. That’s why it makes you want to come back again right away. My sister, who traveled with me this time, was also very happy. From Hokkaido, we hope to find another chance and make another trip to Karaku happen. Thank you very much again for taking such great care of us this time as well.

    A Hotel I Really Love

    This is a Hotel I truly love. After visiting over New Year’s with my parents and daughter, we were able to secure a last-minute Reservation, so this time I returned with my husband and our two daughters. The food is delicious—perfectly suited to my taste—and beautifully presented. With higher-priced Hotels, you sometimes see harsh comments about service, but at this Hotel the staff are exceptionally kind and welcoming. The lounge is more enjoyable than at other Hotels, and the quality of the pressed coffee, excellent tea, and sweets is outstanding—it feels like having afternoon tea at the Hotel. The coffee cups are Arita ware as well, and I was very happy to be able to use such beautiful cups. The Onsen is also wonderful with an infinity-style view, and it’s a place where you can truly relax. The Shuttle Service was in a Mercedes, and there are special touches throughout that you don’t usually get to experience—overall, I’m extremely satisfied.

    This was my third st...

    This was my third stay. As always, I’ve been satisfied with the staff service and the meals, but this time I was very disappointed because the Room air conditioning wasn’t working properly. A staff member told me to set it to 21°C. When I said that 21°C didn’t seem reasonable, they replied that it’s common, which upset me, though I held back. I’m now reconsidering staying again next time. It was very disappointing. At the very least, I think there should have been an explanation from the staff at check-out.

    Favorite Accommodation

    This time, I arrived at the station earlier than my Shuttle Service reservation time and asked if there was a 13:30 option, but it was fully booked. They told me where I could wait in a cool place, and while I was waiting, they came to pick me up because the car returned earlier than expected. I was truly impressed by their kind service. Thank you to the staff member who assisted me. I always look forward to the sushi prepared by the head chef, and once again I thoroughly enjoyed it this time as well. The sea urchin was outstanding. There were a few things that concerned me: at check-in, only a welcome drink was provided and there was no hand towel. I was surprised when flowers were being replaced while I was using the lounge. When I ordered amazake liquor, a completely different drink arrived; when I asked a staff member, I was told they didn’t have amazake. If it can’t be served properly, I would prefer they clearly say it is sold out. The lounge was also crowded after breakfast because everyone wanted coffee. I think having three staff members would help clear tables more smoothly. Although there were many points that stood out this time, it still ended up being a satisfying stay thanks to the delicious meals, the large bath, and the two lounges.

    It’s a good Hotel, but

    This is a very good Hotel, so it is popular and often very crowded. Most of the staff, including international staff members, are pleasant and friendly. I love the lounge on the 6th floor because you can choose from different coffees, and they are delicious. When it is full there is no choice but to sit wherever there is space, but some seats are directly under strong air conditioning. In the refrigerator at the large public bath on the 7th floor, there are not only water but also fruit-infused water, beer, milk, and Japanese sweets. However, unfortunately on the second night there was only water. I really like having milk after a bath, so I asked a staff member. I was told “Please wait,” and I waited for 20 minutes, but no one came. Later in the 9 p.m. hour I went again and they were restocking at that time. When I asked again, I was told that “There is no milk today.” Some days may be disappointing depending on timing, so please be aware. Also, for the second night I requested amenity replenishment only (no Room cleaning), but no one came even after nearly 30 minutes. When I called, someone came right away; however, it was disappointing that my request had not been communicated correctly (they said something as if they were going to clean inside the Room immediately). I waited without using the bath in my Room during that time as well. In that case, I would prefer to receive these items at check-in in the future. Regarding meals: I read another Review saying “They will make rice into rice balls,” but this was not offered to me. If anything, they quickly put away the rice pot each time—so much so that I always wondered if it was because staff were going to eat it. It is a very good Hotel overall; however for some reason I personally run into small issues every time.

    I keep coming back b...

    I keep coming back because I love the large public bath, the comfort of the facilities in the Room, the two lounge services, and the meals. This time, however, there seemed to be fewer service staff at Mutsuki than before for both dinner and breakfast. In the past, they were attentive about when to clear plates and when to serve the next course, but this time everything took much longer. After being seated, it was nearly 30 minutes before my drink order and appetizer arrived. Even after asking for things without long gaps in between, there were repeated periods where we were left waiting. This has never happened before, so it was disappointing. Mutsuki’s freshly cooked rice in a clay pot is delicious, but while some staff serve it well, at breakfast this time a female staff member who seemed new served it with a rice paddle covered in grains of rice that she dipped into a water pitcher; she then plated the rice soaking wet, which was very disappointing. I would like them to consider additional training among staff or switching to a non-stick rice paddle. One more thing: between lounges (except for draft beer), drinks are served in plastic cups rather than glassware, which also felt cheap and disappointing.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    Lower-floor twin room with an open-air bath in the guest room. Dinner and breakfast included: Sushi kaiseki Plan. With the IKYU Diamond benefits, we were able to check in at 2:00 PM. We were also told that the lounge could be used from 2:00 PM. Alcohol (beer, wine, sake, sparkling wine, plum wine, shochu) Soft drinks, Japanese sweets, Western sweets, and light snacks were available. We enjoyed beer along with light snacks such as prosciutto, octopus marinade, olives, and cheese—very satisfying. Dinner was sushi kaiseki; there were about 20 items from appetizers to nigiri sushi, and we left completely full. As this is Atami, there were also many international guests.

    I stayed at this Acc...

    I stayed at this Accommodation to see the Izusan Fireworks, and I had been interested in it for some time. Room & Amenities The Room is compact, but it was very comfortable. There was enough space to open my suitcase, and it felt cozy with a sofa where I could relax. The amenities were the property’s own products, and I liked both the scent and how they felt to use. From the balcony, I could enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the ocean. Since there is a building directly in front, I recommend reserving a higher-floor Room if you care about the view. Service From the Shuttle Service from Atami Station through check-in and check-out, all staff were attentive and courteous, making my stay pleasant throughout. Onsen & Bath The in-room Onsen was spacious enough to stretch out and soak comfortably. The view from the open-air bath was also excellent, and it helped me unwind from everyday fatigue. Facility & Equipment The building was clean, and there were two lounges available, which made it feel well equipped. It was quiet overall, which allowed me to relax. One small point: when I used the treadmill at the gym, I couldn’t find any alcohol spray. For hygiene reasons, having it available would make guests feel more comfortable using the equipment. Dining Both dinner and breakfast were highly satisfying; each dish felt carefully prepared. I couldn’t finish all of the rice at dinner, but they kindly made it into onigiri for me afterward, which I really appreciated. The sushi I ordered additionally was outstanding—one of the most memorable items of this trip’s meals. Portions per person may not be very large. Overall Overall, this was an extremely satisfying stay. I also enjoyed the Izusan Fireworks and made wonderful memories. I would love to return again this winter as well. Thank you very much.

    Summer Vacation for Three Generations

    A summer vacation with my daughter and grandchildren. My daughter used the spa, and she said it was the best she has ever experienced. Dinner was delicious as always, with a wonderful sense of the season. We had corn rice topped with fried sakura shrimp and hijiki garlic furikake, and my grandchildren finished every last bite. We were supposed to be able to check in early with the IKYU benefit, but the front desk was crowded and there was no notice that it would take some time, which was a bit disappointing. The bath and the Room were both spacious and extremely comfortable—nothing to complain about.
