    A new luxury Onsen Accommodation in Atami, operated by Orix

    A location overlooking the sea in the distance. From the 2nd floor parking area, you go up to the lobby on the 8th floor. Staff greet you and carry your luggage. At the reception on the 8th floor, there was already a line from 2:00 PM, with a lounge behind it. After waiting for a while, we checked in there. Our Room was on the 6th floor, which also has a lounge on the same floor. 　The cold-brew coffee in the 6th-floor lounge is exceptionally delicious—rich, flavorful, and aromatic. 　My wife added an optional massage and was extremely satisfied and comfortable. 　All of the service staff at the restaurant are Japanese. 　The food is outstanding, and you can choose simmered splendid alfonsino as an option (additional charge). Being able to fully enjoy natural hot spring water in an open-air bath attached to your Room makes the price feel justified. If budget is no concern, this is an excellent Hotel that you can truly enjoy.

    My Favorite Accommodation in Atami

    I love the sushi course, and I always enjoy spending time at the counter looking at the ingredients and wondering what I’ll be served. Above all, everything is delicious, and I’m very satisfied with the course. I used to stay at other Accommodations that offered a sushi course, but here the Facilities—such as the scenic open-air bath and lounge—are excellent, making it easy to enjoy an extraordinary getaway. I will visit again.

    Wonderful

    This was my second stay. Last time I stayed in the Katsuraku Room, but this time I made a last-minute Reservation the day before (only one Room was available), so it was on a lower floor. Still, it had an ocean view and was very satisfying. The Onsen is excellent. As for the meals, last time we had sushi, and this time we had kaiseki cuisine. Both were delicious. I mentioned that I felt bad leaving rice at the end of dinner and at breakfast, but they kindly told me it was fine. This is a Hotel I would love to visit again.

    A Relaxing Accommodation

    We visited in October last year, and my companion liked this Accommodation so much that we returned in February. Last time we stayed in a Room on the 2nd floor, but this time we chose the Karaku Room for the late check-out. We had been looking forward to the sushi Plan, and the food was excellent—the ingredients were very fresh, the craftsmanship was careful, and we were very satisfied. However, it didn’t feel very relaxing for a Hotel meal. I understand it is served in two seatings and they are pressed for time, but the dishes came out at an extremely fast pace, which seemed tough for my companion who eats slowly. There was no conversation with the chef; it was simply time to eat, and once the meal ended we were asked to move seats. The food was so good that this was truly disappointing. Other than that, we are satisfied—the lounge and other Facilities are very nice. The bath temperature in our Room could not be adjusted and was lukewarm; it took a long time to warm up after raising the temperature setting. Also, breakfast had no changes from October; only the rice was good, but I wouldn’t say the rest tasted very good. It would be nice if there were a Plan without breakfast. Next time, I’d like to visit Gora Karaku as well.

    I was very satisfied!

    We stayed as a group of three. We were able to relax and enjoy our time while using various Facilities, including two lounges, the large public bath (sauna), and the fitness center. We were also very satisfied with the amount and taste of the meals, as well as the staff’s courteous and pleasant service. Thank you very much. We would like to stay again.

    It was a bit disappointing.

    Overall, it was good, but I was dissatisfied with the following points. 1. There were several black spots on the pillowcase, and it looked like mold. 2. The facial steamer was not provided, although it was listed in the Facility guide. 3. I had expected a special sushi kaiseki dinner, but the rice felt sticky—was it left sitting on the plate? Other than that, including the service, I was satisfied. I would like to stay again if I have another opportunity.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    There are many wonderful Accommodations in Izu, and this was one I had been looking forward to based on Reviews. In the end, I think my expectations may have been a bit too high. Perhaps it was very crowded on the day we stayed. We had to wait for both dinner and breakfast, which was disappointing. Especially at breakfast, there were many moments where the staff coordination seemed lacking. Dinner was excellent. The Room was comfortable, and we fully enjoyed the open-air bath and were able to relax.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    Thank you for your prompt assistance when I was unable to successfully arrange the Shuttle Service online. This was my second stay, and this time dinner was sushi—delicious, just as I had hoped. The service and the Onsen were also excellent, and my wife was truly delighted. We will be back again to relax. Thank you very much.

    A Birthday Trip with Friends

    It was wonderful, just as the Reviews said. The open-air bath was very relaxing, and the room was clean. I could move around the building in the provided samue loungewear, which made it easy to unwind. The meals were delicious, and the optional sushi we ordered was piled high with sea urchin—very impressive and tasty. I also enjoyed the lounge. I stayed for a friend’s birthday trip, and I really appreciated being kindly spoken to during our stay. I would like to stay again.

    First Stay

    Every February, we take a three-night trip, and this time we stayed at Karaku for the first time. The Room was clean, and the lounge was great. There were many international staff members, but everyone worked hard to provide warm hospitality, which made us feel very comfortable. For dinner, we tried the popular sushi and it was delicious. My husband and I ended up enjoying quite a lot of sake while saying how well it paired with the meal. However, breakfast felt a bit lacking, and for us—since we eat plenty of rice (laughs)—it wasn’t enough. We stay at various Accommodations each year, and since this was our third night’s Accommodation this year, we couldn’t help comparing it with the previous one, so that is why we gave this rating. Thank you for a wonderful time.

    It was very good.

    I was able to enjoy a luxurious, relaxing stay. The lounge next to the 8th-floor lobby and the relaxation area on the 6th floor offered unlimited drinks and snacks (including alcoholic beverages, tea, sweets, and savory bites) in the afternoon and morning. I had a truly wonderful time while taking in the spectacular views. I also loved the service where staff brewed tea or coffee for you after you chose your favorite cup. Some guests were even enjoying champagne from the morning. The baths were also amazing—the open-air bath felt like an infinity pool with breathtaking views. There are two saunas: a smoke sauna and a steam sauna. They also had a steam facial device, and the amenities were excellent. After bathing, they provided classic bottled milk, coffee milk, mineral water, and mini beers, and the two massage chairs were incredibly relaxing as well. Many of the staff members seemed to be from Southeast Asia, but everyone was polite and appeared to be studying Japanese very diligently. I would definitely love to visit again.

    The Finest Hospitality

    Comfortable, with wonderful attentiveness from all the staff. The Onsen was gentle, quiet, and excellent—I was truly satisfied for the first time in a while. The meals also had delicate flavors, with impressive creativity.

    Dinner: Sushi “Aiju” Course

    I visited looking forward to dinner, which was advertised as a course limited to two parties. However, once we were seated, the chef asked if we would be willing to share a table with another party who had small children. Since our Reservation included dinner, I never expected this at a high-end Ryokan. As it did not match what was advertised and this was a special commemorative trip for us, I declined. I have previously had unpleasant experiences sharing tables like this, where parents did not mind their children being noisy. I finished dinner feeling deeply disappointed—“So even Karamatsu Gozen is like this.” The food itself was excellent, which made it all the more disappointing.

    The ocean view that ...

    The ocean view that opened up right in front of us as we came up from the entrance to the lobby was truly breathtaking. The lounge sweets and coffee, as well as every meal, were beautifully prepared and delicious. We would definitely love to return.

    The Accommodation in Atami is excellent.

    Compared to Gora, Atami is wonderful! The spectacular view from the 8th-floor lounge makes the drinks go down easily, and it’s a great place to relax. We were completely satisfied with everything about the meals—the tableware, presentation, and taste. We also truly appreciated the thoughtful care from all the staff, which made our trip even more enjoyable. This has become an Accommodation we’d love to visit again if we have the chance.     It was truly wonderf...

    It was truly wonderful hospitality. The Shuttle Service was driven very carefully, so even on Atami’s narrow, winding roads we didn’t feel shaken in the back seat. When we were being shown to our Room, an elderly guest who got on at an intermediate floor was walking slowly. We didn’t need to pass them and simply followed behind, but when we arrived at the Room, the staff member guiding us apologized. At dinner, the woman in charge spoke to us politely with just the right sense of distance. She even said she felt comforted by our smiles—such a lovely thing to hear—and we were comforted as well. The mixed rice was delicious. The melon on the birthday plate was perfectly ripe and very tasty. Just one last thing: since it was a birthday trip gift for him, I would have preferred if the Receipt at checkout had been kept out of sight. I probably should have gone to the counter myself. Thanks to all the staff’s smiles, we were able to enjoy ourselves with smiles throughout! We’d love to visit again.

    Overall, it was good, but

    There were no hair ties or hair bands in the Room. They were available in the large public bath, so I wondered why. The yukata and loungewear provided in the Room were only size S. I called the front desk and had them bring size M, but it still felt odd. At check-in (since this was a Multiple Night Stay), I requested no bed-making or cleaning, and asked for two days’ worth of towels, loungewear, and drinks. I was told they would be delivered between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on the second day, but they brought them at 10:00 a.m., before the promised time—and the loungewear was size S again. It seemed like information wasn’t being shared properly, and at least they should keep to the agreed delivery time. This is unusual for an Accommodation of this grade.

    With the wonderful F...

    With the wonderful Facility, excellent hot spring water quality, and delicious food, it was the perfect holiday. However, it was a little inconvenient that I could not call the Hotel front desk directly. The call connected to a call center, and after selecting an inquiry category in response to automated (AI?) voice prompts, I received a reply by email, which felt a bit unsettling as I get older. I would still like to feel human warmth when calling by phone.

    The massage chair was very relaxing.

    This is a very nice Accommodation. There is a pick-up service from Atami Station, and I arrived at Atami Station quite early to make sure I wouldn’t miss it. It would be convenient if using a taxi were also an option. The massage chairs were very comfortable, but since there are only two shared by both men and women, it was hard to find an available time. I would be happy if you could add more units. In the outdoor bath’s reclining area, about half of the body ends up out of the water, so during this cold season wearing a bathing garment was just right, but it was disappointing that the bathing garments available on the first day were not available on the second and third days. For a Multiple Night Stay, I would be happy if tea service were available from 11:00 to 14:00 as well.

    An Accommodation You’ll Want to Visit Again and Again

    This was my fourth stay in total, including Izuyama and Gora. Each time, I was able to relax and enjoy a soothing, unhurried stay. The staff’s service is also excellent. I was more than satisfied overall, but I have one request. Please consider improving the in-house slippers. I would appreciate it if the material that touches the top of the foot could be made softer. Going back and forth between the bath and the lounge caused some rubbing and slight skin pain. Thank you for your consideration.

    It was very relaxing.

    This Hotel never disappoints. This time, we stayed with our daughter, who is suspected of having a gastrointestinal allergy to fish, fish roe, and shellfish such as oysters and is scheduled for treatment. Normally, it would have been better to avoid staying at an Accommodation known for its seafood if someone has allergies. However, the suspicion of an allergy was diagnosed after we had made the Reservation, and the Hotel also told us they could adjust the meals as much as possible, so we decided to stay. Both dinner and breakfast were changed to ingredients other than fish, and everything—from the taste to the presentation—was excellent. Our daughter was truly delighted. Thank you very much for taking care not only with the ingredients but also with the broth and sauces used. We are sincerely grateful to the staff member who explained everything in detail at dinner. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the kitchen team for their extra effort. Needless to say, the Facilities and service are outstanding—this is a wonderfully relaxing Accommodation.

    An Accommodation you’ll want to return to again and again

    This was our repeat stay at the Accommodation. The staff’s hospitality impresses us every time—their attentiveness is outstanding. The large public bath offered wonderful views, and the Facility was excellent. Service during meals was attentive and pleasant, and the dishes made great use of quality ingredients—everything was delicious. This is an Accommodation we would like to visit at least once a year.

    Snowy Accommodation

    This was my first visit in two years. It was as luxurious and wonderful as ever. The chic, spotless Room is a very relaxing space, and I love the atmosphere of this Room. The fresh, carefully prepared cuisine was also absolutely delicious. The service was perfect and excellent. The smiles and hospitality of the front desk staff were truly wonderful. One disappointment was that the temperature of the open-air bath in the guest Room was low and it felt cold. I think it may have been because it snowed that day and temperatures dropped below freezing. According to my son, the large public bath did not feel lukewarm, so I should have gone there instead. It is a fantastic Accommodation, so I was very satisfied again this time. Thank you very much.

    An Accommodation with no information sharing at all

    We love Gora Kadan in Hakone as a family, and we had also been interested in your Accommodation, so we made a Reservation. We visited with special feelings for what was our last trip as a couple before the baby arrives, and also a birthday trip. However, this stay was extremely disappointing. - My husband requested a birthday plate by phone, but it was not communicated internally and was not provided. - Even though we had reserved the Shuttle Service from Atami for 13:30, we were told it was booked for 14:30 and were kept waiting. (We have the Reservation email.) - We informed you by email in advance about ingredients I cannot eat, but none of that information was reflected. At check-in and at each dining venue, we were told completely different things. In particular, I never said I cannot eat cheese, yet at the restaurant they asked to confirm that cheese is also not allowed. (There is also an email reply.) - The extra pillow we requested as a backup was not in the Room either. (There is also an email reply.) I do not understand why I contacted you in advance if nothing would be shared properly, or why I had to repeat the same information multiple times. I deeply regret choosing this Accommodation. I explained everything at checkout as well, but I was told there was no record and that you would respond later; on top of that, you simply gave us extra sweets. I could not accept this response and felt even more frustrated. That is not what we wanted at all—I believe you should have immediately confirmed the facts to the extent possible. Otherwise, other guests will end up having the same experience. Since I do not believe proper fact-checking can be done based only on what is said verbally on site, I am leaving this in writing. Again, please ensure thorough fact confirmation and make sure no one has to go through the same experience again. Finally, the Room and Onsen were very comfortable and relaxing—at least that part was a relief.

    The Room was very nice.

    We stayed for one night and two days. The view from the Room was great, and we were very satisfied with the in-room open-air bath. On the 6th floor, there is a lounge where you can enjoy coffee, tea, and more, but there are only a few seats, so you may not be able to enter when it is crowded. It would be nice if it could be used at any time you like, but that is not always possible. At dinner, the drinks we ordered at the beginning took a long time to arrive, so we had to wait. It also felt like meal service took a bit of time overall. Some of the staff serving meals wore masks while others did not; if possible, we would like all staff who interact with guests to wear masks.

    I stayed in the Karaku Room.

    I stayed at the long-awaited Atami Karaku, and as with Hakone Karaku, the cuisine was outstanding! I was truly happy to be able to stay there for my husband’s birthday! For the baths, yukata are provided for women, and I thought their consideration was excellent. Even though it faces the sea, you can see houses in the distance and there are other Ryokan nearby, so I think you can enjoy the open-air bath with a view without feeling self-conscious. I would love to stay again.

    It was the best trip.

    On January 27, I stayed for one night with my mother and sister on a surprise trip to celebrate various milestones for both of them. From the gentleman who picked us up at the station with his thoughtful, understated care to the warm welcome after we arrived, everything went smoothly—truly impressive. The woman who assisted us had such a charming smile, and her sincere effort came through; it made for a wonderful start that immediately put us at ease. The lounge also left my mother and sister deeply moved. The ocean view spreading out beyond the windows felt like part of what was being served in the lounge itself. We especially loved an original sweet from the Accommodation—something like a sugar confection—with a texture we’d never experienced before; my mother absolutely adored it. At dinner, the gentleman who looked after us during the main course had a lovely smile and impeccable attentiveness—bringing tea right when we were thinking we wanted it. Each small gesture made it clear why this place is so well loved. The international staff member was also working so hard; everyone was someone you couldn’t help but cheer for. We thoroughly enjoyed everything—the Room, the in-Room bath, the infinity bath, and both lounges—and my mother and sister kept saying on our way home how much fun they had and how happy they were. I’m truly grateful to everyone. Thank you very much for such a wonderful time.

    A Relaxing Day Off

    I visited to relax and unwind for my birthday. The Karaku Room, the lounge, the meals, the large public bath, and the in-room bath—no matter what it was, and no matter how many times I come back, I always find comfort and joy here. During our meal, two gentlemen who took care of us shared various stories with us, which made the time truly enjoyable. They also told us that the pink flowers we had seen on our way to the Hotel were from a tree called “Atami-zakura,” known as Japan’s earliest-blooming cherry blossoms. Dinner at Mutsuki was of course delicious, but the additional sushi we ordered made it even more satisfying. Also, since the lounge hours have changed and it is now open until 8:00 p.m., we were able to relax there with coffee after dinner, which was wonderful. I also liked that IKYU’s Diamond benefits have become selectable. From those who welcomed us at the entrance driveway, to the front desk staff, to those who called the elevator so quickly after our meal that they were out of sight in an instant—and finally those who saw us off at departure—we felt kindness and warmth everywhere. It was another wonderful trip. Thank you very much! I’ve already made a Reservation for May. Lastly, I would like to express my gratitude to IKYU for offering so many points for such a wonderful Accommodation. Thanks to that, I’m able to travel again and again.
