    A Wonderful Time

    I stayed here with my daughter and grandchild, and we were very satisfied—the Facility and service were excellent. The fireworks we watched right in front of us while soaking in the open-air bath were amazing.

    Couple in their 30s

    My husband was able to take an unexpected long break, so we stayed at Karaku for the first time. Because it was a last-minute Reservation, we couldn’t book a Plan with dinner and stayed with breakfast only, but it was such a wonderful Accommodation that we wished we had added dinner as well. The view from the 8th-floor lounge was especially stunning, and we were able to relax and lose track of time. The large public bath was very clean, and I was happy that there were ReFa hair dryers as well as facial devices available. There are two lounges, both very comfortable. We could unwind with drinks and truly recover from everyday fatigue. Many of the staff members were from overseas, but everyone greeted us with a smile and kindly assisted us, making our stay very pleasant. This time we stayed as a couple, but next time I’d love to return with my mother. Then, I’d like to enjoy a longer stay with a Plan that includes dinner. Thank you for the wonderful time. We will visit again.

    Moved by the fireworks viewed from the open-air bath

    This time, we stayed for a short stay. Since fireworks were scheduled for that day, we made our Reservation to match. In the evening it started to rain, and we worried it might be canceled—but right on time, powerful sounds filled the air and fireworks spread out before our eyes. They felt close enough to touch. Beer and fireworks while soaking in the open-air bath—there’s no greater luxury. We were completely satisfied and felt truly refreshed. And Karaku’s hospitality is as wonderful as ever. That’s why it makes you want to come back again right away. My sister, who traveled with me this time, was also very happy. From Hokkaido, we hope to find another chance and make another trip to Karaku happen. Thank you very much again for taking such great care of us this time as well.

    A Hotel I Really Love

    This is a Hotel I truly love. After visiting over New Year’s with my parents and daughter, we were able to secure a last-minute Reservation, so this time I returned with my husband and our two daughters. The food is delicious—perfectly suited to my taste—and beautifully presented. With higher-priced Hotels, you sometimes see harsh comments about service, but at this Hotel the staff are exceptionally kind and welcoming. The lounge is more enjoyable than at other Hotels, and the quality of the pressed coffee, excellent tea, and sweets is outstanding—it feels like having afternoon tea at the Hotel. The coffee cups are Arita ware as well, and I was very happy to be able to use such beautiful cups. The Onsen is also wonderful with an infinity-style view, and it’s a place where you can truly relax. The Shuttle Service was in a Mercedes, and there are special touches throughout that you don’t usually get to experience—overall, I’m extremely satisfied.

    This was my third st...

    This was my third stay. As always, I’ve been satisfied with the staff service and the meals, but this time I was very disappointed because the Room air conditioning wasn’t working properly. A staff member told me to set it to 21°C. When I said that 21°C didn’t seem reasonable, they replied that it’s common, which upset me, though I held back. I’m now reconsidering staying again next time. It was very disappointing. At the very least, I think there should have been an explanation from the staff at check-out.

    Favorite Accommodation

    This time, I arrived at the station earlier than my Shuttle Service reservation time and asked if there was a 13:30 option, but it was fully booked. They told me where I could wait in a cool place, and while I was waiting, they came to pick me up because the car returned earlier than expected. I was truly impressed by their kind service. Thank you to the staff member who assisted me. I always look forward to the sushi prepared by the head chef, and once again I thoroughly enjoyed it this time as well. The sea urchin was outstanding. There were a few things that concerned me: at check-in, only a welcome drink was provided and there was no hand towel. I was surprised when flowers were being replaced while I was using the lounge. When I ordered amazake liquor, a completely different drink arrived; when I asked a staff member, I was told they didn’t have amazake. If it can’t be served properly, I would prefer they clearly say it is sold out. The lounge was also crowded after breakfast because everyone wanted coffee. I think having three staff members would help clear tables more smoothly. Although there were many points that stood out this time, it still ended up being a satisfying stay thanks to the delicious meals, the large bath, and the two lounges.

    It’s a good Hotel, but

    This is a very good Hotel, so it is popular and often very crowded. Most of the staff, including international staff members, are pleasant and friendly. I love the lounge on the 6th floor because you can choose from different coffees, and they are delicious. When it is full there is no choice but to sit wherever there is space, but some seats are directly under strong air conditioning. In the refrigerator at the large public bath on the 7th floor, there are not only water but also fruit-infused water, beer, milk, and Japanese sweets. However, unfortunately on the second night there was only water. I really like having milk after a bath, so I asked a staff member. I was told “Please wait,” and I waited for 20 minutes, but no one came. Later in the 9 p.m. hour I went again and they were restocking at that time. When I asked again, I was told that “There is no milk today.” Some days may be disappointing depending on timing, so please be aware. Also, for the second night I requested amenity replenishment only (no Room cleaning), but no one came even after nearly 30 minutes. When I called, someone came right away; however, it was disappointing that my request had not been communicated correctly (they said something as if they were going to clean inside the Room immediately). I waited without using the bath in my Room during that time as well. In that case, I would prefer to receive these items at check-in in the future. Regarding meals: I read another Review saying “They will make rice into rice balls,” but this was not offered to me. If anything, they quickly put away the rice pot each time—so much so that I always wondered if it was because staff were going to eat it. It is a very good Hotel overall; however for some reason I personally run into small issues every time.

    I keep coming back b...

    I keep coming back because I love the large public bath, the comfort of the facilities in the Room, the two lounge services, and the meals. This time, however, there seemed to be fewer service staff at Mutsuki than before for both dinner and breakfast. In the past, they were attentive about when to clear plates and when to serve the next course, but this time everything took much longer. After being seated, it was nearly 30 minutes before my drink order and appetizer arrived. Even after asking for things without long gaps in between, there were repeated periods where we were left waiting. This has never happened before, so it was disappointing. Mutsuki’s freshly cooked rice in a clay pot is delicious, but while some staff serve it well, at breakfast this time a female staff member who seemed new served it with a rice paddle covered in grains of rice that she dipped into a water pitcher; she then plated the rice soaking wet, which was very disappointing. I would like them to consider additional training among staff or switching to a non-stick rice paddle. One more thing: between lounges (except for draft beer), drinks are served in plastic cups rather than glassware, which also felt cheap and disappointing.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    Lower-floor twin room with an open-air bath in the guest room. Dinner and breakfast included: Sushi kaiseki Plan. With the IKYU Diamond benefits, we were able to check in at 2:00 PM. We were also told that the lounge could be used from 2:00 PM. Alcohol (beer, wine, sake, sparkling wine, plum wine, shochu) Soft drinks, Japanese sweets, Western sweets, and light snacks were available. We enjoyed beer along with light snacks such as prosciutto, octopus marinade, olives, and cheese—very satisfying. Dinner was sushi kaiseki; there were about 20 items from appetizers to nigiri sushi, and we left completely full. As this is Atami, there were also many international guests.

    I stayed at this Acc...

    I stayed at this Accommodation to see the Izusan Fireworks, and I had been interested in it for some time. Room & Amenities The Room is compact, but it was very comfortable. There was enough space to open my suitcase, and it felt cozy with a sofa where I could relax. The amenities were the property’s own products, and I liked both the scent and how they felt to use. From the balcony, I could enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the ocean. Since there is a building directly in front, I recommend reserving a higher-floor Room if you care about the view. Service From the Shuttle Service from Atami Station through check-in and check-out, all staff were attentive and courteous, making my stay pleasant throughout. Onsen & Bath The in-room Onsen was spacious enough to stretch out and soak comfortably. The view from the open-air bath was also excellent, and it helped me unwind from everyday fatigue. Facility & Equipment The building was clean, and there were two lounges available, which made it feel well equipped. It was quiet overall, which allowed me to relax. One small point: when I used the treadmill at the gym, I couldn’t find any alcohol spray. For hygiene reasons, having it available would make guests feel more comfortable using the equipment. Dining Both dinner and breakfast were highly satisfying; each dish felt carefully prepared. I couldn’t finish all of the rice at dinner, but they kindly made it into onigiri for me afterward, which I really appreciated. The sushi I ordered additionally was outstanding—one of the most memorable items of this trip’s meals. Portions per person may not be very large. Overall Overall, this was an extremely satisfying stay. I also enjoyed the Izusan Fireworks and made wonderful memories. I would love to return again this winter as well. Thank you very much.

    Summer Vacation for Three Generations

    A summer vacation with my daughter and grandchildren. My daughter used the spa, and she said it was the best she has ever experienced. Dinner was delicious as always, with a wonderful sense of the season. We had corn rice topped with fried sakura shrimp and hijiki garlic furikake, and my grandchildren finished every last bite. We were supposed to be able to check in early with the IKYU benefit, but the front desk was crowded and there was no notice that it would take some time, which was a bit disappointing. The bath and the Room were both spacious and extremely comfortable—nothing to complain about.

    I stayed here to visit Sushi Aiju!

    I had always wanted to dine at a high-end sushi restaurant. However, not only the price but also the atmosphere—and the tension of having sushi prepared right in front of me—felt intimidating, and even after turning 60 I never quite found the chance to go. While researching Michelin-selected hotels, I discovered “Sushi Aiju” at this Hotel. I felt that if it was a Hotel known for Michelin-level hospitality, I could finally work up the courage to try a luxury sushi restaurant, so I made a Reservation. On the day, I enjoyed the Onsen, had a light drink in the lounge to get pleasantly tipsy, and entered feeling relaxed in the Hotel’s loungewear. The experience exceeded my expectations: I was moved by both the incredible flavor created by meticulous craftsmanship and by the refined service. After dinner, still feeling as if in a dream, I returned to my wonderful Room and slept soundly. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me. This time my main purpose was “Sushi Aiju,” but even aside from that, it was an outstanding Hotel stay—exactly as other guests’ Reviews said it would be. In my case, despite being on a lower floor, I was very satisfied with my Room as well, and I’m truly glad I stayed here.

    We had another wonde...

    We had another wonderful stay this time as well. Thank you very much. One thing that was disappointing at the end was the return Shuttle Service. Last time, we returned to Atami Station in the Hotel shuttle vehicle. This time, at check-in I was told, “Please take a taxi on your way back.” It was my fault for not confirming properly, but given the current situation, I assumed the Shuttle Service itself had been discontinued. When we were about to get into a taxi on departure, a member of staff told us that there is also a shuttle vehicle available—I wish I had been informed as well. My companion also asked what was going on, and we ended up leaving with that disappointment. Next time, I will make sure to confirm in advance.

    Very satisfied with the open-air bath at the large public bath.

    I was very satisfied with the open-air bath in the large public bath. It felt like a space connected to the sea and sky, and the ocean sparkling in the morning sun was truly refreshing. However, I couldn’t use the in-room open-air bath because it had many insects floating in it. Although I made a Reservation for a high-floor room for the view, part of another Hotel building stood directly in front of us, so the scenery was disappointing. All of the staff were pleasant and welcoming.

    It was amazing!!

    This is a wonderful accommodation.

    This was my second stay. I had a great impression from my previous visit and was looking forward to returning, so I may have set my expectations too high. Some services that I found wonderful during my last stay were no longer available, and I felt there were differences compared with before in the softer aspects of service, such as the food and staff response. However, the views from the lounge and large public bath were outstanding, and the Accommodation itself remains just as appealing. The Facility is excellent, which made it all the more disappointing. I hope to look forward to a third stay.

    Among accommodations in Atami, it feels overpriced, and the service was below expectations.

    Located in Izusan, about a 10-minute drive from Atami Station. It’s a very quiet area with almost no restaurants nearby other than those in the Hotel, and there is no access to the beach. All Rooms are advertised as ocean-view with a private open-air bath, but on lower floors the view is significantly blocked by trees and buildings across the way. The Room itself was average, and for this price range it did not feel particularly luxurious. Insects also came in from outside. The pricing is honestly hard to justify. Even compared with other Hotels in Atami, it is clearly overpriced, and it’s difficult to say the quality matches the cost. Breakfast (we used a breakfast-only Plan) was unremarkable and ordinary. Service was the most disappointing part. Rather than a full-service Ryokan, it felt closer to an overpriced self-service Facility. You can’t really expect English support from staff. The Hotel shuttle bus requires a separate Reservation through an external website, which is inconvenient. Even the English phone support only directs you to send an email—and replies take 1–2 days—which is unacceptable at this price point. As for Facilities, the large public bath Onsen on the top floor was good; both the ocean view and natural hot spring quality were commendable. The gym is extremely small, with only one treadmill and one rowing machine. There are two guest lounges offering coffee, drinks, and light snacks. Sightseeing is very difficult without a car. Overall: This Accommodation in Atami is best skipped. If you’re paying over JPY 80,000 per night, there are more satisfying options in Izu or Hakone. Based on this stay, I would prefer to avoid ORIX-affiliated Hotels going forward.

    There were shortcomings in the explanations provided, and there were issues with the response.

    When placing an additional order at the restaurant, the explanation was insufficient and I was charged an unexpectedly high fee. After returning home, I called and a staff member responded, but the issue was not handled in a satisfactory way. It may look attentive at first glance, but it felt superficial. Unfortunately, my stay did not end up being a pleasant experience. The food also took a long time to be served; even though we only ate a few dishes, the waiting time was long and exhausting.

    First Visit: Atami Karaku

    I have stayed at Hakone Karaku several times, and this was my first stay at Atami Karaku. To start, Hakone Karaku is excellent, but I chose Atami Karaku this time for a fresh experience. As a result, it offered all the strengths I enjoy in Hakone, while Atami’s unique highlights—such as the views and the lounge—really stood out. The Onsen is different in character, but it was wonderful. This is purely my personal impression, but I felt the meals in Hakone might be slightly better. That said, everything here was still very delicious... It has become one of the Onsen Accommodations I would like to visit again.

    We were very satisfied.

    At our age, we want to enjoy a variety of delicious dishes, but we can’t eat large portions. This Accommodation was wonderful, with excellent service and food. The Onsen water left our skin silky smooth, and we went in many times. The meals were exquisite.

    The large public bath was disappointing.

    We stayed as two families to celebrate our daughters’ birthdays. As the Accommodation is still quite new, the Facility was clean and well maintained. The staff were also very pleasant, and we had a comfortable stay. Unfortunately, the large public bath and the open-air bath in the Room could be seen from the surrounding area, which was disappointing especially for the women. We would appreciate any measures to improve privacy, though it may be difficult due to the location. The men didn’t mind much, so if we have another opportunity with just men, we would stay again.

    Baby-friendly!

    This time, we stayed with our son’s family, including our 8-month-old grandchild. As we have stayed here as a family before, we were very happy that you welcomed an infant as well. For meals, you arranged a private dining room so we wouldn’t disturb other guests, and we were able to relax and enjoy the delicious food. The sauna and lounge are well equipped, and the staff are always pleasant and attentive, so our family can truly refresh every time we visit. We’re looking forward to our next stay.     High-end Hotels in Tokyo are great, but Katsuraku is a Hotel I’d love to stay at again.

    This was our first stay. We considered Fufu, Sekai-e, and Hiramatsu, but choosing Katsuraku was absolutely the right decision. It was exactly as described in the STORY feature article. From the moment we arrived and stepped into the lobby, it was cloudy outside, yet the view was breathtaking—my companion couldn’t help but exclaim “Wow.” All communication leading up to our stay was extremely courteous and left a great impression. I’m very particular and tend to worry about details, but they answered even my small questions carefully, which allowed me to feel at ease on the day of arrival. The hair dryer prepared for us was a Dyson, and the Room featured marble—truly like a high-end Hotel in central Tokyo. From quality makeup remover to toner, the amenities are well stocked, so you can likely travel light. If you need anything else such as shaving items, you can request them at the front desk. It’s also great that you can request extra towels via the in-room tablet without having to call each time. You can also check availability for facilities such as the large open-air bath—everything is thoughtfully designed from a guest’s perspective. Since we both enjoy alcohol and there are no convenience stores nearby, the free-flow service was fantastic. Even on a hot summer day, soaking in the footbath on the 8th-floor lobby terrace while looking out at the sea—with draft beer and delicious octopus marinade plus cheese and olives—was pure happiness as time slowed down beautifully. The snacks and cakes were small portions, but every item tasted carefully made with no shortcuts—I was genuinely surprised by how good they were. The selection changed between afternoon service and breakfast time on the following day as well, which made us very happy. They kindly checked whether we were comfortable with the open-air bath temperature; adjusting it to 39°C helped us soak longer comfortably. The large open-air bath had three different temperature pools to enjoy as well. The meals showcased ingredients and flavors that reflected real dedication from the chef; not only dinner but also breakfast included many dishes that felt gentle on the body—it left both mind and body feeling refreshed. I especially liked the pre-meal smoothie. That said, one dish—the fried Spanish mackerel with black vinegar sauce—was slightly too strongly seasoned for my taste. The roasted sirloin melted in my mouth, and rice topped with simmered sirloin was outstanding. The rice at breakfast looked glossy and perfectly cooked—and of course dessert too: beautiful presentation with excellent flavor, again with no shortcuts taken anywhere along this experience. In Tokyo proper، dinner plus breakfast would likely be around ¥30،000 per person، wouldn’t it? Considering that—and adding free-flow drinks plus this view—the value of an IKYU Diamond member Katsuraku Room feels excellent۔ The table setting was also wonderful؛ from chopsticks to plates to glassware، everything showed careful attention۔ When I asked staff about it، they explained everything politely। I had been curious about some low Reviews I’d seen، but I couldn’t relate at all—in fact，it truly felt like a Michelin five-star Hotel。 We would love to return again۔

    First-time visitor

    This was my first stay, and I was very satisfied. At first, I thought I should have chosen a higher floor with a better view, but even on a lower floor I enjoyed it 충분に. There are also two lounges, each with its own特色, which was great. However, when it gets crowded the food runs low, and unfortunately I couldn’t try the macarons this time. I went to the large public bath at a quieter time, so it was almost private and very relaxing. The kaiseki meal was served at a leisurely pace, and both the quality and quantity were excellent. It’s an Accommodation I’d like to visit again, including Hakone as well.

    The two days flew by in no time!

    We visited on a family trip! We ate a little too much—snacks and more—in the two lounges, so we worried we might not be able to fully enjoy the meal, but that was unnecessary. Dinner was absolutely delicious and very satisfying! The dining staff were also incredibly kind, and we’re grateful to have spent such a happy time. This Accommodation made us feel warmly welcomed everywhere, and we hope to return again someday!
