I was nervous about ...
I was nervous about checking in alone for my trip to Kyoto due to my companion's health issues, but the front desk staff's warm smile eased my worries. I hesitated to visit the lounge alone for a glass of delicious champagne, but the exceptionally kind service made me glad I took the step. For my next reservation, I've included meals and am looking forward to it. Thank you very much!

Both the facility and service were excellent.
This was my first time staying for one night. From check-in to check-out, the staff's service was excellent, and the Room was charming yet comfortable, allowing us to have a truly wonderful time. My daughter, who accompanied me, was especially delighted—it felt like this Hotel had everything a girl could love. I was so glad I brought her here. I would definitely like to stay again next time. Luxury Solo Trip in Kyoto
I stayed at a dream accommodation I had longed to visit. From the moment I ascended the elegant staircase and arrived at the front desk, I felt like I had entered a wonderful world. During check-in, they served welcome sweets and tea, which were absolutely delicious. When I stepped into my room on the 9th floor, it was like stepping into a scene from a movie—a dreamy and beautiful space. The room featured stylish accents of Fauchon pink, with an elegant gold-colored door for the restroom. Every detail reflected Fauchon's unique style. The exclusive sweets bar service for guests was an extraordinary experience—truly generous hospitality! They even provided an original bag so you could take home any leftover sweets—a thoughtful touch. Breakfast was served in the dining area on the 10th floor, where every dish showcased carefully selected ingredients and tasted amazing. Sitting in one of the salon seats made for an elegant breakfast time. The hotel is conveniently located near Kawaramachi Matsubara bus stop and easily accessible from Kyoto Station. At checkout, two friendly staff members at reception provided excellent service that left me delighted. This stay became one of my best memories—it felt more like being in Paris than Kyoto! It’s such a wonderful accommodation; you should definitely experience it once!

"Welcome back"
The hotel stay begins with the staff warmly saying, "Welcome back." This is a small luxury hotel that truly makes you feel at home. This time, I stayed in a compact Room with only a shower, but the layout was convenient, and the large window offered a stunning view of Higashiyama. I enjoyed tea in the Room before heading out for dinner. At the 10th-floor restaurant, I received champagne as an IKYU Diamond benefit. Every dish served was delicious, and being able to enjoy pike conger during Gion Matsuri season was delightful—it was exceptionally tasty. Conversations with the restaurant staff were also enjoyable. While there are plenty of dining options around the Hotel, you simply can't miss dining at its restaurant. Breakfast choices are so tempting because everything is delicious! This time, I took home a tote bag featuring Gion Matsuri designs as a souvenir. I'll definitely visit again!

It was great.
I stayed for one night and two days, and the Room was charming, the bath was spacious enough, and the provided snacks were delicious, making it a pleasant stay. It would have been nice to have tea for each person and bath salts in the bathroom, so I gave it a 4-star rating, but it's almost perfect. The flexible checkout time allowed me to enjoy a morning walk along the Kamo River, which was a great experience. The breakfast bread was also delicious. Thank you very much!

Gorgeous and charming
The staff were very attentive, making it a wonderful Hotel stay. Although the usual lounge space seemed to be under renovation, there was no sense of awkwardness in using an alternative area as the lounge. I had a relaxing time. Thank you. Additionally, the specially selected water felt great on my skin.

Opinions may vary, but it was excellent.
The reviews were quite polarized, so I was hesitant at first, but I decided to stay after all. In conclusion, it was the best Hotel for me. The Room itself was so enjoyable... From the moment of check-in, the staff's smiles and service made me feel relaxed. As for the Room, it had the interior I imagined, and what I loved most was the bathtub. It wasn’t too big or too small; it had armrests on both sides and provided ultimate relaxation—my favorite bathtub ever! The bathrobe material was fluffy with sizes available for both men and women—perfectly fitting—and even came with adorable pink slippers that lifted my spirits. There were also face masks provided; using them here felt much more exciting than at home—it truly felt like a magical experience! As expected from Fauchon, there was an espresso machine as well—everything about this stay exceeded expectations. I rarely feel like not wanting to check out of a Hotel, but this time I did! Thankfully there was a late checkout option as part of my package. Breakfast itself wasn’t extraordinary; however, while waiting after being seated took some time, their croissants reminded me of those in Paris. A friend staying in another Room had an early flight back home via Kansai Airport and needed to leave early in the morning. When we reserved a taxi beforehand at reception, they kindly offered to prepare breakfast-to-go for her—a thoughtful gesture that ensured everything went smoothly as planned. She couldn’t stop marveling at how punctual everything is in Japan—from Shinkansen trains to Hotels—and how even breakfast could be arranged perfectly on time! All in all, this stay left no room for complaints—it was absolutely satisfying from start to finish. To all staff members: thank you so much for your wonderful smiles and impeccable service!

A Wonderful Time
Before our visit, we made several requests over the phone. We asked for a message card in the Room to celebrate my cousin's 60th birthday, and were delighted to find adorable towel art and a message on the bathroom mirror. It became a wonderful memory that brought so much joy. The staff responded promptly to every request, allowing us to have an amazing time. We hope to visit again in the future. Thank you very much!

Gourmet Stay
Fauchon is known for its posh brand image, but the occasional touch of humor and thoughtful service made my stay very comfortable. The room's pink and gold color scheme was chic and well-coordinated, as expected. The bathroom design was also classic and stylish. The bed was cozy with a fluffy duvet, and the room's temperature and humidity were perfect for a good night's sleep. My room faced Kawaramachi Street, so I did notice some road noise at night, but other than that, it was stress-free. As for the meals—true to its reputation as a gourmet hotel! Everything was delicious. The lamb steak was incredibly tender with no gamey taste; the chef’s cooking technique and seasoning were impeccable. The milk served at breakfast had such pure flavor that I wanted to savor it on its own! The omelet was simple yet refined, while the texture of the potatoes added a nice touch! The pairing of dishes with brioche bread was outstanding too. Interestingly, dinner bread had a high hydration content compared to breakfast bread—it tasted completely different but equally delightful. I must admit I felt slightly disappointed that this time the welcome sweets weren’t macarons… Instead, they offered small baked treats shaped like bisou-bisous which were tasty but honestly would have been cuter in colors other than brown. That said, this is truly a one-of-a-kind hotel tailored to women’s preferences. I hope to visit again someday—it’s definitely on my wish list! Thank you for your wonderful hospitality!

It was a wonderful Hotel!
Everything about the accommodation was as wonderful as the reviews described. The only disappointment was a foreign staff member carrying room service who entered the elevator after breakfast. Despite making eye contact, there was no greeting, and they remained silent. We got off on the same floor, but there was no nod or acknowledgment, and they quickly exited ahead without any courtesy. This behavior was so different from the excellent service provided by other staff members that it surprised me. Other than that, everything was great, and I would love to stay here again if given the opportunity.

A wonderful Hotel I would love to visit again.
I used this Hotel as a Mother's Day gift because my mother had always wanted to stay here. The service during check-in and at the restaurant was excellent. After checking out, we had an afternoon tea reservation, but since there was about an hour of waiting time and going out seemed inconvenient, I asked if we could wait inside the Hotel. They kindly guided us to the second-floor lounge and even brought us drinks, which made me very happy. The room was a suite but felt relatively compact, and I noticed there was only one toilet, which stood out to me. The furniture and amenities were coordinated in white and pink tones, making them very cute. There were about 6 or 7 types of their famous sweets available—plenty enough to excite both visually and taste-wise! While I saw many reviews mentioning that the variety has decreased compared to before, it still felt like more than enough for me.

Maybe I expected too much...
During my stay in Kyoto, I had always wanted to try this Hotel, and this time I decided to book after finding a reasonable Plan. At first glance, the Hotel impressed me with its meticulous embodiment of the Fauchon world. However, as time passed during my stay, I noticed maintenance and cleanliness issues such as peeling paint on the gourmet bar door and coffee-like stains on the rug despite using high-quality amenities and Facilities. Additionally, operating the TV remote was challenging. When filling the bathtub without plugging it initially, a large amount of residue flowed back from the drain into the tub, which was quite unpleasant. Breakfast was deliciously prepared with care; however, no one asked if we wanted refills for drinks or bread throughout our meal. Despite trying to make eye contact several times for assistance, we were ignored repeatedly and eventually left feeling dissatisfied due to wasted time waiting unnecessarily. While the hardware of this Hotel is impressive enough, unfortunately, its service fell below expectations—leaving me disappointed overall. I will not be returning again.

We had a wonderful time.
We booked a plan that included afternoon tea and breakfast for our trip to Kyoto to celebrate my sister's birthday. The afternoon tea, in collaboration with Izutsu Yatsuhashi Honpo, offered a delightful Kyoto-inspired experience! It featured not only a stand but also parfaits, which were very satisfying. The complimentary tea and macarons at check-in were also a nice touch. When we entered the room, there was a birthday message written on the bathroom mirror, which made my sister very happy. The slippers and bathrobes were fluffy! The room had pink accents throughout, making it adorable. As for the gourmet bar, it seemed like there were fewer sweets compared to before. I remember struggling with too much food to take home previously, but this time I could almost finish everything even after having afternoon tea. Perhaps the inclusion of an eco-bag meant fewer snacks? Breakfast was delicious—everything from egg dishes to croissants—and the staff’s cheerful "Bon appétit" left a lasting impression!

Wonderful Hotel
This was my first stay in two years. I was deeply moved when greeted with "Welcome back...". To my surprise, I was upgraded to the best room, the Prestige Suite, and even received a thoughtful gift, which made me even happier. The room's interior was stunning, allowing me to fully enjoy the world of Fauchon. Since I'm not fond of cheese, I skipped dinner during my previous stay. However, as breakfast was incredibly delicious and they kindly accommodated my preferences this time, I chose a plan that included dinner—and it turned out to be an excellent decision. Every dish was absolutely delicious and featured many refreshing citrus-based flavors that were easy to enjoy. Additionally, the warm hospitality of the hotel staff (with perfect information sharing) left a lasting impression on me. Next time, I would love to visit again with my mother!

It was the best time.
Thank you for the upgrade to the Prestige Suite. I truly enjoyed being surrounded by the Fauchon aesthetic in every detail, from the interior design to the sofa, mirrors, and minibar. The eco-bag provided was made of unexpectedly sturdy canvas and will be useful in the future. The detailed explanation about the Swarovski cherry blossom ceiling was much appreciated, and your attentive service made for a wonderful experience. The boutique is also delightful!

Check-in procedures were conducted on the second floor while enjoying tea and macarons. The room had a gourmet bar where all snacks could be taken for free. Upon checking the gourmet bar, there were about 5 to 6 types of snacks, but no bottled water was available for tea. Curious, I checked YouTube. In a video from about two years ago, there were two bottles of water in the middle of the gourmet bar and more snacks than now. Some snacks shown in the video were missing; instead of around 10 types as seen before, only fewer options were available now. When I called the front desk to ask about bottled water, they informed me that none was provided and suggested using natural spring water instead. Regarding the reduced snack variety, they explained it changes seasonally but seemed more like cost-cutting measures rather than seasonal adjustments. Other reviews mentioned similar concerns; likely their response would also mention "seasonal changes." If I hadn’t seen that old YouTube video, I might not have noticed these differences. Additionally, at breakfast by the window seats on a cold morning day—it felt freezing with what seemed like air conditioning running despite staff saying they'd switch to heating. Even foreign guests moved seats due to discomfort. On a positive note: contrary to some reviews mentioning condescending staff attitudes—everyone was kind and helpful during my stay! The hotel featured charming decorations; rooms were clean with spacious baths offering relaxation opportunities too! Snacks paired perfectly alongside tea making them enjoyable treats overall! Although minor issues left slight dissatisfaction—this stay offered great value given its lower price point this time around (though typically expensive during peak seasons). It’s not an everyday option but provided memorable experiences nonetheless! Would consider returning if another opportunity arises!

An extraordinary luxury space
When I visited Paris, I admired The Ritz-Carlton and Fauchon Hotel. I heard that the second Fauchon Hotel opened in Kyoto, and I was eager to stay there. The location is urban, but with Takase River and Kamo River nearby, it has a charming atmosphere. The Room was compact for a Junior Suite, but I thoroughly enjoyed the dessert wagon, tea selection, and Jurlique amenities—very satisfying. The top-floor Grand Café had an amazing location with delicious meals; the croissants at breakfast were especially impressive. We stayed here to celebrate my daughter's graduation, creating wonderful memories.

I visited after seve...
I visited after several years, this time with my mother. Since it was close to my birthday, I chose the Anniversary Plan. Thanks to various surprises and thoughtful gestures, I thoroughly enjoyed celebrating my birthday as an adult. The Room, dinner, and breakfast were all impeccable, and I would love to visit again in a different season. Last time was winter; this time I got a spring eco-bag—perhaps next will be summer or autumn? I'm already looking forward to it. The only downside was that adjusting the water temperature for the bath and shower was still difficult this time as well. Overall, I am very satisfied. Thank you very much!

For your wedding anniversary
Thank you very much for your hospitality. We stayed to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Hearing "Welcome back" upon our return visit made us very happy. With dinner and breakfast included, we fully enjoyed the flavors of Fauchon. The dinner was part of a plan with cake, and though we wondered if we could finish it all, as expected from Fauchon, it was so delicious that we ate everything. It became a wonderful anniversary trip. We would love to visit again.

The Hotel had a unique character, which was great.
The Hotel is small, making the interior neat and organized. Although there are only two elevators, there was no waiting time, which was great. The pink Room and gourmet bar with a Fauchon touch add a unique charm that deserves praise. The breakfast not being a buffet was appreciated; the omelet was delicious and artistic. My companion had poached eggs, which also looked delightful.

◯ Good Points (1) Everything is just adorable. From the light pink plates used at dinner to every corner of the room, everything was so cute it took my breath away. (2) The food is incredibly delicious. I had both dinner and breakfast, and both were extremely tasty, making me want to come back again!! ◯ Bad Points (1) Check-in Process During check-in, a female staff member explained things in a very matter-of-fact manner (without a smile), but there was no explanation about the location or use of the elevator (as a result, I managed to get to my room on my own but struggled). When I asked what to do if the water in the glass pot in the room ran out, I was simply told "Please fill it up," without any explanation of where to do so. In the end, I had to search on their website... (2) Seating during Dinner and Breakfast Perhaps because I came alone, my seat was always at a sofa seat farthest from the window with views of Higashiyama (Higashiyama), without even being given an option unlike other groups of two who seemed to be given choices from several options. It felt like being treated carelessly just because I came alone... (3) Service at Attached Store There was someone before me who ordered takeout drinks and left after paying once but returned while staff were attending me asking for a cover for their paper bag due to rain. While waiting for that person’s request next payment process started; however no rain cover provided despite previous customer returning due weather conditions which seemed normal expectation considering situation yet very busy unfriendly staff led repacking outside store into eco-bag... Amongst staff members are truly wonderful people responding with smiles; however this time pre-visit expectations led disappointment though still such cute hotel hoping improvements allow solo travelers feel welcome hence slightly harsh review shared here hoping future visits possible upon improvements made...

Although I knew it was not the right place for a man in his 50s, I was tempted by an offer from IKYU and decided to stay. This is a boutique and concept Hotel that strongly emphasizes the Fauchon brand, concept, and coloring. The main target is clearly women, so be prepared to stand out if you stay alone as an older man. The target audience is likely younger than the madams who shop at Takashimaya. With a casual atmosphere in terms of service level, it might be recommended for young women looking for a little extraordinary experience. I highly recommend using the restaurant and shop. Honestly, I prefer Robuchon's bread more; perhaps this is because Fauchon's bread focuses on being meal-oriented with soft textures that are moist and have restrained sweetness. When they called a taxi for me, a black BM7 arrived. The timing of both contact and arrival was perfect—such services are impeccably high quality without any oversight. My apologies for my casual attire during my stay.

It was a very good hotel. When we informed them that it was our wedding anniversary and birthday, they prepared a better room than the one we had reserved, and the staff's response was excellent, allowing us to have a very relaxing stay. We definitely want to stay there again.
