We had a relaxing stay.
We stayed on the day of the Gozan Okuribi bonfires. When we asked where to watch them, we were given detailed guidance. I stayed with my daughter, and we enjoyed the sweets in the closet while drinking tea. We would definitely like to stay again.

Overall, it was a comfortable stay.
This was my repeat stay. The minibar snacks you can take away were selected to withstand high temperatures, likely because it’s summer. I’m not sure whether it’s due to inflation and the weak yen or the seasonal lineup, but it felt better in the past. Overall, the stay is comfortable, yet it left me wanting a little more. Perhaps I’m simply used to it, or perhaps more and more items—including those in the shop—are becoming Japan-made… It feels like there’s less of that “Fauchon” touch. For international guests, though, Japanese products may be a welcome addition.\n\nThis may sound somewhat critical, but I was able to spend my time comfortably and without stress in many ways. I’d like to visit again.

I had a wonderful birthday.
I had long dreamed of staying at this Hotel ever since I first visited the shop shortly after it opened in Kyoto, and I finally came with my daughter on my birthday. The elegant atmosphere was wonderful, and the tea and sweets served at check-in were delicious. We were kindly upgraded, and the Room exceeded all expectations—an impressive contrast of glamorous pink tones and refined Japanese aesthetics. We were both truly moved by the birthday-themed table setting and even the beautifully prepared bathroom. The most breathtaking feature was the champagne-pink “Gourmet Bar” closet, stocked with FAUCHON sweets as well as tea and coffee. Experiencing this alone makes a stay absolutely worthwhile. Breakfast at the restaurant with a great view was also excellent: a choice of main dish, breads, side dishes featuring Kyoto vegetables, and of course FAUCHON tea—all truly delicious. Every time we met the staff, they offered warm birthday wishes; their thoughtful yet polished hospitality made for a relaxing stay and a memorable birthday. I would love to visit again. By coincidence—or perhaps fate—the Room number was the same as my birthday. Thank you very much.

The birthday option with a towel cake and a pink bubble bath was amazing!
This was my 8th stay at the FAUCHON Hotel Kyoto—my absolute favorite in Kyoto, which I love so much. I was visiting Kyoto for a friend’s grand opening celebration, and at the perfect time I received a birthday coupon from the FAUCHON spa. So I decided, “Let’s treat myself to a special birthday FAUCHON hotel stay!” I planned it with excitement—booking the towel cake I’d seen on Instagram and in Reviews on IKYU.com for the first time, along with the spa’s pink bubble bath that had made me unbelievably happy before. It was my third time staying in an East Higashiyama-view FAUCHON Suite, but the sofa and table layout had changed. The moment I entered the room, I couldn’t help cheering at how adorable the towel cake was—I took tons of photos and enjoyed it to the fullest! The handwritten “Happy Birthday” message on my key card, and the illustrated birthday card placed with the towel cake, became precious keepsakes that I brought home as treasured memories. The cute hand-drawn illustrations on both the full-length mirror and bathroom mirror also made me feel endlessly happy every time I saw them. I’m truly glad I chose to spend my birthday hotel stay in a FAUCHON Suite! Since my Plan included lounge access, I spaced it out from my spa appointment and enjoyed an early dinner and drinks. Along with my favorite champagne and umeshu, after enjoying the Shigaraki-ware bathtub in my room once, I topped up fluids and sugar with cola and sweets before heading to the spa. Even for the pink bubble bath at the spa—which I had been looking forward to so much—they prepared another towel cake with a heart. After having my tired feet massaged, I returned straight to my bed in the room and instantly fell asleep—I was blissfully happy beyond words. The next morning, I woke naturally before 4:00 a.m., watched dawn during magic hour, wrote myself a birthday card using one of the room postcards (and mailed it at a postbox at the end of my trip), enjoyed tea and coffee, and savored that Higashiyama view from by-the-window table. The steamed breakfast served in bamboo steamers at restaurant breakfast, as well as a birthday message cake after checkout—and even iced tea brewed by Grandy Master—everything was delicious. It was simply amazing. After buying souvenirs, even tag message attached to tote bag when they stored luggage were adorable too. Until leaving The FAUCHON Hotel Kyoto at last , this is best lingering feeling remained; It was best-ever FAUCHON hotel stay of mine! Thank you so much for such an overwhelmingly happiness-filled time!

Birthday stay
This was our second stay, and I visited with my elementary-school-aged daughter. With access to the FAUCHON Lounge, as last time children are allowed until 7:30 p.m., but they kindly packed desserts for us and prepared them in our Room. They even made a birthday plate for her, which made her very happy. It was wonderful to enjoy dessert as a late-night treat in the Room at a relaxed pace with delicious tea. I’m glad to see the services for families with children have improved. Everyone—the lounge and front desk staff, as well as the in-room service team—provided outstanding hospitality. The in-room afternoon tea was exceptional; we could enjoy it elegantly in a lovely Room. The afternoon tea parfait was also delicious, and my child loves macarons. Thanks to the summer campaign that included a ¥10,000 credit, we were able to buy plenty of souvenirs. If there is another campaign, we would definitely like to use it again.

A gastronomy Hotel…?
If you stay with very high expectations of the term “gourmet hotel,” you may feel a bit underwhelmed. The breakfast and lounge food were certainly delicious for a Hotel, and the freshly baked croissants were a treat, but it wasn’t as moving as I had imagined for a stay centered on food. I also tried the seasonal peach parfait; it was artistic and beautiful to look at, but I was quite disappointed with the quality of both the sorbet and the peaches. Personally, perhaps due to rising costs, my honest impression was that the flavors of the ingredients all fell just short. In Kyoto, where Michelin-starred restaurants are everywhere, my expectations may simply have been too high. Next time, I’d like to try dinner at least once. This time I stayed in an east-facing suite in Higashiyama. With a layout that clearly separates the living room and bedroom, it was very comfortable. The Simmons king bed is perfect for solo travelers. The room also came with original rice crackers and cookies, dried sweets, stamped yatsuhashi (Kyoto sweets), and even a cloth bag to take them home—an enjoyable touch. The view includes Higashiyama and the Kamo River, but nearby apartment buildings are also in sight, so it may be best not to expect an overly “Kyoto-like” panoramic view. What I most want to mention is “lounge access.” At present there is no separate club lounge; instead, light snacks and drinks are served only during limited evening hours in the lobby lounge. The offerings and presentation are lovely, but it doesn’t feel private—so if you’re expecting a typical “club lounge,” it may be quite different from what you imagine. Personally, rather than adding lounge access, I felt booking their popular afternoon tea or relaxing at the bar on the 10th floor better captures what this Hotel does best. The location was better than expected. I had worried about limited subway access, but taking a taxi from Kyoto Station was very smooth. Even on a day when central Kyoto was extremely crowded due to Gion Matsuri festivities, we reached the Hotel without getting stuck in traffic. It’s also about a 7-minute walk to Kawaramachi-Shijo; step into side streets nearby and you’ll still find old Kyoto townscapes—making it an excellent base for exploring. The interior design throughout is consistently aligned with FAUCHON’s world down to every detail—and above all else، the staff’s hospitality and warm service left a strong impression.

Fauchon close by.
When I think of Fauchon, I picture a byword for gourmet delights—elegant pastries and dishes with the kind of French esprit you’d expect straight from France. Yet here in Kyoto, Japan’s ancient capital, I found an opportunity not only to savor Fauchon champagne to my heart’s content, but also to enjoy light snacks and desserts. It was irresistible—I’ll definitely be back.

We were thoroughly satisfied with the first-class hospitality, which far exceeded the property’s glamorous appearance.
From FAUCHON’s brand image, I expected a design-focused Hotel, but it was actually a Hotel with an exceptionally high level of service. In particular, the bell staff were outstanding and truly impressed me. On the day of check-in, it was pouring rain and I arrived by taxi from Kyoto Station, but I was deeply moved by the warm welcome from the bell staff from the moment I stepped out of the car. Even when heading out for dinner, they arranged a taxi unbelievably smoothly, and I was impressed by their professionalism. Recently, while Accommodation Fees have been rising, many Hotels have let service slip due to staffing shortages, which has often left me dissatisfied. This is a trustworthy Hotel that provides proper service worthy of its price. It will be one of my choices again when visiting Kyoto.

It made for a wonderful anniversary.
I think this Hotel is perfect for celebrating special occasions. I was truly impressed by the unexpectedly generous hospitality. The service was excellent, and it has become one of the Hotels I’d like to visit again. Although unrelated to my stay, the parking lot behind the Hotel cost 3,400 yen for entry after 5:00 PM and exit after 1:00 PM the next day. After the maximum rate period ends, hourly charges apply, so please be careful if you plan to use it.

A Hotel Filled with Charm
My mother, my sister, and I stayed here as a group of three. The hotel’s signature FAUCHON pink is adorable—especially for women, it really lifts your mood. I had visited before for afternoon tea, and both the tea preparation and the sweets were excellent, so I’d been hoping to stay overnight when I had the chance. We chose a Suite Room so we could also use the lounge. Perhaps because of the season, the lounge was not crowded during lounge hours. We also enjoyed the in-room sweets and tea. We bought a Bis Bis cake at the boutique on the 1st floor as well. The FAUCHON goods at the boutique were very cute, so we purchased some along with tea. The service was outstanding, and it became a wonderful family travel memory.

Fauchon Paris
I stayed here with high expectations, as it is a Hotel found only in Paris and Kyoto. The atmosphere of the Hotel and the Room decor were very cute and lived up to my expectations. However, when I arrived at the Hotel, the check-in service was not good. While it is normal for Hotels to register a credit card, I was told, “We will check whether it can be used.” They also explained things using an iPad, but they spoke too fast and gave a one-sided explanation before I could fully understand. As an IKYU member Diamond benefit, I should have been able to check out at 13:00, but housekeeping came around 12:30. The bath water did not get very hot even when set to hot, so it was cold. Even though this is Japan, the plumbing felt like an overseas setup (the faucet turns in the opposite direction). There were too many disappointing points like these, and I think improvements are needed. On the positive side, their focus on tea and the atmosphere of the night bar were very good.

Kyoto was rainy due ...
Kyoto was rainy due to the typhoon. When I went to the Hotel to leave my luggage, it was a little early for check-in, but I was able to get into the Room in about 20 minutes, which was great. My umbrella was wet too, but thank you for wiping it clean. It rained all day, so I cut sightseeing short and relaxed at the Hotel. There were plenty of snacks and tea in the Room, and even though it was raining, I was satisfied to spend time at such a lovely Hotel.

Next time for sure...
I had made a two-night Reservation with my family to coincide with work in a neighboring prefecture, but due to issues with the Tokaido Shinkansen, we had to significantly change our plans and I ended up staying only one night by myself. Fortunately, I was able to enjoy the spa as scheduled, but I wish I could have enjoyed more of the Hotel experience. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration in saving some light snacks for me until cocktail time. Next time, I hope to stay and relax at a slower pace. Thank you very much.

Breakfast was delicious.
Because it isn’t a buffet, it’s easy for elderly guests to enjoy. For the main dish, I chose the grilled salmon marinated in miso koji. The sides—Manganji peppers and kinpira burdock—were also delicious. It came with rice, miso soup, and pickles. And the croissants were outstanding. I also ordered minestrone and corn soup. Salad, fruit, yogurt, milk, and herbal tea made for a wonderful meal. After afternoon tea and a bath, I requested turndown service. They handled it very carefully, and I’m truly grateful. At this Hotel, many guests drop off their luggage and head straight out to sightsee in Kyoto, so turndown requests are rare. As a local like me using the Hotel mainly for a relaxing stay-in experience is in the minority. I enjoyed a calm, leisurely time at Fauchon.

Second stay
I stayed about three years ago, and this was my second visit. From check-in, we were treated to delicious macarons and tea—wonderful hospitality. The Room was spacious, and the gourmet bar really got me excited. Both dinner and breakfast were outstanding in both presentation and taste. One thing: the Room water was said to be drinkable well water from the tap, but I would have liked bottled water as well. All of the staff were very kind and attentive, so I had a very pleasant stay. I’d love to stay again.

The service was impeccable, with attentive staff who noticed even the smallest details.
This was my first stay at FAUCHON Hotel Kyoto. When I went to the Hotel to leave my luggage before check-in, a front desk staff member kindly asked, “Would you like to take some water with you?” and brought me a chilled bottle of water. I thought it was a wonderful service from the very start. Throughout my stay, I was continually impressed and moved by how attentively every staff member observed guests and provided flawless service. This is a Hotel you will not regret staying at. I truly hope everyone gets the chance to stay here. I look forward to staying with you again. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

Overall satisfied
The Room was spacious, and the pink decor really lifted my spirits. The service was excellent and made me feel comfortable. We only had breakfast, but it was delicious. One concern was the bathroom area, especially the bath. There was red mold stuck in many places. It may seem like a small detail, but I think it’s important. I felt the cleaning should be reviewed.

All in pink!
Anyway, everything was pink and adorable everywhere—it really lifted our mood. It’s an irresistible space for women (in the best way). My daughter and I had fun spotting all the thoughtful details throughout. The Room isn’t especially large, and the Hotel is small, but it was very functional and felt relaxing. The bathroom area is compact yet well designed—everything you need is right where you want it. Bath salts would have made it perfect. In the end, my husband seemed to enjoy it too. We’d love to stay again on our next trip to Kyoto. For dining, we used dinner once, breakfast twice, and the bar once. The atmosphere was calm and the service was excellent.

A stylish, high-quality Hotel that meets expectations
We used this Hotel as our base for a 2-night, 3-day trip to Kyoto, and it was a stylish, high-quality, and very comfortable Hotel in an excellent location close to Shijo-Kawaramachi! About a 7–8 minute taxi ride from Kyoto Station. Since it was before noon, we headed to the Hotel planning to leave our luggage. Even though it was early, we were warmly welcomed right away with FAUCHON tea and macarons. They also handled check-in on the spot, so we could head out for our first day of sightseeing in Kyoto with peace of mind. Both the interior of the Hotel and the Room felt luxurious, with FAUCHON pink used throughout and an overall refined, artistic atmosphere. The gourmet bar we had been looking forward to also met expectations—our spirits lifted, and everything was delicious. The restaurant on the 10th floor had many travelers from Europe and North America, giving it the feel of a Hotel in Paris. The French cuisine made with plenty of locally sourced Kyoto ingredients—and breakfast as well—was generous in portion size and delicious; we were completely satisfied. Thank you to all the staff for your consistently pleasant service. Thanks to you, this became our most satisfying trip to Kyoto yet. We would love to stay again next time as well.

Fauchon Champagne
I booked the suite mainly because it came with lounge access and champagne. Since the Hotel is in a lively area, we originally planned to have dinner out. After enjoying the welcome sweets and relaxing a bit, I soaked in the bath to unwind. Then we headed to the lounge at just the right time—and we were actually the first guests there. We took our time sipping champagne and chatting. The lounge served its purpose perfectly, and on top of that, the snacks were so plentiful—both in variety and quantity—that we realized there was no need to go out for dinner after all. We also enjoyed some local whisky, along with chocolates and other bites. Honestly, I didn’t expect the lounge to be this well stocked. Even though we had quite a bit to drink, I felt refreshed the next morning. Breakfast was delicious—I even went back for more bread—and I left impressed once again by this brand’s strong focus on food. I’d love to stay again in exactly the same way. By the way, for a morning walk, if you head straight east along Matsubara Street, you’ll reach Kiyomizu-dera Temple (open from 7:00 a.m.), so you can experience it before it gets crowded.

A Moment of Relaxation
Kyoto & the Fauchon Hotel, my first visit in two years. A slightly late check-in after sightseeing. I took a relaxing break with the hospitality I’d been looking forward to this time: “matcha macarons” and “Fauchon Blend iced tea.” With my birthday coming up, the Hotel kindly upgraded my Room, and I was welcomed by a towel cake tower. I was also happy to see the message on the bathroom mirror. After asking about the dinner menu in advance, they changed or removed ingredients I don’t like, and I enjoyed a delicious meal exactly as requested. Unfortunately, I missed taking photos of two dishes. In addition to dessert and tea, I also added my preferred “Bis Bis Sherry Cherry” and the non-alcoholic cocktail “Peach Tea.” I finished everything with great satisfaction—so breakfast the next day ended up being lighter than usual... Compared to last time, it felt like there were fewer sweets at the gourmet bar, but the tote bag for takeout is really handy. Once again, I’m truly grateful to everyone in charge of my stay as well as all the kitchen and floor staff for their prompt and courteous service and thoughtful attention to detail. I’ll be back again in two years for some relaxation. Thank you very much.

The staff service and meals were excellent. However, the late-night traffic noise on Kawaramachi Street was somewhat noticeable. Next time, I will make a Reservation for a Room on the Higashiyama side.

Kyoto Cherry Blossom Viewing Trip
I had wanted to stay here for some time, so I made a Reservation. Just as the Reviews said, everything met my expectations. Personally, I found the design and practicality of details such as the bathroom door in the room, the luggage space, and the closet doors to be excellent and very easy to use. The location is also convenient for walking along the Takase River. I would like to visit again if I have the chance. One suggestion: during busy times, it would be helpful if there were an easy way to quickly check whether there are any available seats at the bar or restaurant.

Heartwarming hospitality
Looking down at the Takase River from the Room, watching it flow gently and quietly, is truly soothing. Instead of the Room’s gourmet bar being lined with FAUCHON pastries as before, it now features collaborative items such as yatsuhashi, dorayaki, and arare—treats you can only enjoy by staying here. The tea selection had changed from black tea to Japanese tea, but when I asked for FAUCHON tea, they kindly prepared their signature TEA BAG for me. Thank you very much. Dinner is always beautifully presented and delicious; my elderly mother finished everything in no time. We are looking forward to staying again.

I stayed with my one...
I stayed with my one-year-old child, and the staff were kind and wonderful. The location was also convenient for sightseeing on foot. Breakfast was delicious, and we were very satisfied! It was a bit disappointing that many of the sweets at the gourmet bar are made in collaboration with another Kyoto company, and there were quite a few items containing shortening or margarine, which made them taste somewhat cheap. However, the welcome macarons and the chef’s financiers were truly delicious. We bought some cakes, macarons, and baked goods, and they were excellent.

A Hotel You’ll Be Very Satisfied With
I stayed here on a girls’ trip with my mother and aunts. The tea and sweets served at check-in were delicious—it felt like having tea at a lovely café. The Room was charming down to every detail, and everything had the FAUCHON logo on it—I couldn’t stop taking photos. We also made a Reservation for both dinner and breakfast, and everything was delicious. We were very satisfied. From check-in to the restaurant service to check-out, the hospitality was wonderful, and I’d love to come back. My mother and aunts were very happy too, so I’m glad we chose this Accommodation.

A lovely Room in Fauchon colors
I finally got to stay at the Fauchon Hotel, which I’d been curious about for a long time. I had held off because there’s no parking if you’re driving, but this time I came by Shinkansen, so my wish came true. The Room, accented with Fauchon pink, and the amenities were adorable, and the sweets “closet service” was a unique and delightful experience you don’t see elsewhere. In the lounge, while the food presentation was small in scale, it featured thoughtful items that felt very Fauchon-like; the chicken and spring vegetable fritto was served warm and was delicious. I also enjoyed the whole prosciutto leg and Fauchon champagne. After breakfast, when I was peeking at the view through a gap in the screen, a staff member kindly raised it for me and explained the scenery. Everyone was very friendly and spoke to me often, which made my stay truly comfortable. If I have another chance, I’d love to return. Thank you very much.

It wasn’t bad. It was average.
Given its origins as a luxury gourmet shop opened by Auguste Fauchon at Place de la Madeleine, I made a Reservation for afternoon tea with high expectations, but it was average. The Room was a suite, but it felt like a standard business hotel Room that had been renovated. The staff service was not particularly attentive—just average. If I had to compare it, it felt like seeing Singapore’s Merlion for the first time. Please don’t misunderstand: it wasn’t bad. In particular, the entrance staff left an impression of being very kind.
