Enjoy the renowned Arima Onsen waters to your heart's content at a Hotel brimming with onsen ambiance.
The smallest hotel in Kobe, "Hotel Hana Koyado," is a property that combines the charm of a ryokan with the practicality of a hotel. Enjoy a blissful moment of relaxation by soaking in the Arima Onsen, considered Japan's oldest hot spring, to rejuvenate both body and mind.
This is my second stay at Hanakoyado. I became a repeat guest because this is where you find the answer to whether high-quality Onsen and gourmet dining can truly be enjoyed at a reasonable price. The traditional wooden building and tiled bath are full of classic Onsen atmosphere. Even more luxuriously, the Kinsen flows continuously, and when you sink into the tub, the overflowing water swirls as it runs off. I also enjoyed a steam bath using the high-temperature source spring. The rice cooked in the okudosan is delicious, and the fish and meat carefully grilled over charcoal with radiant heat are more than satisfying. To top it off, curry rice is served at the end as well. There is an Onsen experience and cuisine here that feel wonderfully untouched by modern times.
ごきせんせ 7/13/2026Thank you very much for allowing us to enjoy such a wonderful holiday this time. This small Accommodation with only 11 rooms had a great atmosphere and a lovely retro charm. The meals were also excellent; dining at the kappo counter, with the traditional stove and attentive service, was truly enjoyable. The bath was also a private kinsen hot spring, so we could soak without any worries, but it was a bit too hot for me... All the other guests were considerate as well, and there was no loud talking or heavy footsteps, so it was very comfortable. I hope to visit again someday. Thank you very much.

Introduction of the Accommodation

Western-style Room on the 2nd floor of Hana Koyado. Reminiscent of the atmosphere of foreigner-exclusive Hotels in Arima during the opening of Kobe Port. The room is symbolized by the soft light filtering through the golden glass. Japanese-style Room on the 1st floor of Hana Koyado. On the veranda facing the garden, enjoying tea brings a sense of relaxation. The tatami room is equipped with a bed. This arrangement of a bed in a Japanese-style room has, since 1999, become a model adopted by many Japanese Onsen Ryokan.

The mountain cuisine of Yamaya involves serving dishes that one truly desires to eat to the customers. Therefore, it does not adhere to the traditional Kaiseki procedures established during the Edo period or focus on visual extravagance. One answer to this philosophy is the seasonal Kappo style, where simple cooking is done using a stove right in front of the guests and served hot. The quality of the fine ingredients that Goshobo has gathered over the years is fully brought out in this style.
Group Hotel List
Arima Sanso Gosho Bessho
As the oldest Onsen area in Japan and counted among Japan's three famous hot springs, Arima Onsen. During the Meiji opening period, when a settlement was established in Kobe, many foreigners visited Arima Onsen. They visited the famous autumn foliage spot "Kiyomizu Temple," and Kiyomizu Temple became the "Kiyomizu Hotel" exclusively for foreigners. The grounds of "Arima Sanso Goshobessho," with its deep natural greenery, still retain the sacred atmosphere of that time.
Tōsen Goshobō
Since the Kamakura period, a traditional Onsen Ryokan. Even in the Arima Onsen area, where modernization is advancing, Tosen Goshobo remains a separate world. While listening to the murmuring of the Seikei River, once loved by authors like Junichiro Tanizaki and Eiji Yoshikawa, enjoy rustic and nature-filled mountain cuisine. Goshobo has always prioritized pouring the spring water directly into the bath.
