Another Kyoto by the sea: Tango

In Japan, where a beautiful culture of appreciating rain has endured since ancient times, Tango is a coastal region that—unlike the old capital—has long lived in harmony with the sea and its bounty. Spend time savoring its rich nature and the changing seasons to your heart’s content. About 2.5 hours from Kyoto City. One hour to Ine’s Funaya boat houses. In Tango, a place that can truly be called secluded, cherish the rain and sink into quiet serenity. Ujo Soan is an adults-only retreat where time flows gently. Unwind as you shelter from the rain in five private detached villas, each with an open-air bath, and in the special villa “Zuiu.”

  • Due to bad weather, we changed our travel destination and ended up staying here at short notice as a family of five. Everyone except the person who made the Reservation wasn’t very enthusiastic until we arrived, but our stay here won them over and they were extremely satisfied. We felt truly relaxed by the meals, the atmosphere of the Room, and the hospitality. Personally, I was thrilled to find several types of Isamu Noguchi lighting in the traditional Japanese house-style Room. Next time, I’d love to spend time here during the rainy season or when the fresh greenery is at its best.

  • I’m truly impressed by the attendants. The meals and the Room were wonderful, but the hospitality was perfect. This is a genuinely pleasant and comfortable Accommodation. This was our second stay, and compared to last time, the meals, the Room, and the service were all even better. They even placed chopsticks with consideration for my left-handed daughter, and provided smaller geta sandals for my petite daughter. As a woman, there was so much I could learn from them.I’m looking forward to coming next time with my husband.

About Hygiene Measures
[Post-COVID Measures] Thank you for choosing the Kashoen Group from among many Accommodations. In response to COVID-19, we have long maintained our standards for hygiene management, including disinfection, sanitization, and mask use. Following the reclassification to Category 5 on May 8, rather than simply returning to pre-COVID practices, we will continue to explore new approaches to both hygiene management and hospitality. Our staff do not wear masks; however, we will continue to take thorough precautions regarding hygiene. Thank you for your understanding.
