    The ocean-side view ...

    The ocean-side view was great, and we could clearly see a beautiful sunrise. The Room was spacious and very comfortable. We booked a Plan with dinner and breakfast included. Both were buffet-style. There was a wide variety of dishes, and plenty of alcoholic drinks as well, so we were very satisfied. However, even though we were on the 11th floor, there was an unpleasant smell coming from the unit bath drain. Also, I would like you to reconsider the shop’s opening hours. It was disappointing that we couldn’t buy the drinks we had at dinner after checkout.

    Anniversary Trip

    We were very satisfied with the Hotel, the staff’s service, and the meals! We truly appreciate the staff’s thoughtful hospitality. I’ve stayed at many Hotels, but this became one of the most memorable. We had a wonderful anniversary. Thank you very much.

    This was our first stay, and we visited as a group of five.\nAs others have mentioned in their Reviews, at checkout we were only told, “There is no balance due.” There was no “thank you,” no smile, and the unfriendly attitude left us feeling uncomfortable.\nAfter dinner, we were looking for a vending machine and went into the shop. While we were looking around, we were told, “Please do not bring in outside food or drinks.”\nI was holding a coffee cup, but I wasn’t drinking it...\nI understand the staff may be tired after serving guests all day, but there are better ways to say it—for example, asking “Can I help you find something?”\nThe food, Room, baths, and Facility were great, but the staff’s attitude made this trip disappointing.

    I stayed for two nig...

    I stayed for two nights. It was disappointing that beer and wine in the lounge were only available until 17:00, so I couldn’t use it even after returning from sightseeing in the evening. At check-in, I was told dinner at the buffet had a one-hour limit, so I ate in a hurry, but in the end there was no such restriction. I felt rushed for no reason and missed out. On the second day I took my time and enjoyed the meal, but it didn’t actually take much longer. Rather than focusing only on turning tables quickly, I wish they would let guests enjoy the buffet comfortably.

    Relax and unwind with our all-inclusive plan.

    I stayed during the three-day holiday weekend in March, and although there were many guests and it was crowded, I had a comfortable stay without any stress. It’s nice that they inform you at check-in about the times when it gets busy. My Room faced the mountains, so I couldn’t really enjoy the view, but the bed was large and the Room was spacious enough to relax. The in-room bath and toilet made me feel the age of the building, but everything else has been renovated, and there was none of that common issue of “it’s a non-smoking Room but somehow it smells like cigarettes,” so it was very comfortable. The women’s bath has a sauna and is spacious enough, which is great, though I felt the amenities could be a bit more well stocked. There was a wide variety of food, everything tasted great, and I ate a lot. I also liked that drinks are available in the lounge from check-in time. Overall, I was satisfied and would like to stay again.

    I’m a returning guest.

    I stayed once when it was Daiwa, and this is my second visit since it became Mercure. This time I had reserved a corner twin Room, but due to the Hotel’s circumstances, I was upgraded to a suite. As always, both breakfast and dinner were delicious with a wide variety of dishes. The staff were consistently attentive and helpful. I also enjoyed both the indoor bath and the open-air bath. However, it was disappointing that the showerhead seemed old and sprayed unevenly. In addition, the post-bath items and in-Room amenities still felt insufficient.

    Disappointing

    Check-in: I was told my Reservation could not be found. When I showed the online Reservation confirmation email, they understood, but it left me feeling very uncomfortable. I even double-checked the Hotel name because I thought I might have made a mistake. Bath: There was no facial cleanser in the bath area, and there were no hairbrushes, which made it difficult to dry my hair. Meals: I wanted a “table in use” sign while using the table. Some foreign guests moved from their assigned tables to other tables without permission, which caused trouble and made the experience unpleasant—terrible overall. Room: The Room was larger than expected, but even with the air purifier on, it had a strong old smell as if various odors had soaked in. It was very disappointing.

    Kushimoto, the southernmost point with a beautiful sea!

    The meals were delicious, and it felt like a luxurious evening and morning. If I had to mention a drawback, the Room toilet is quite small. Also, some guests were very noisy and unpleasant. Even during meals, people spoke loudly, and the children’s high-pitched voices were exhausting. A Hotel where anything goes? I’d like to see at least a minimum level of courtesy.

    It was great.

    Check-in was smooth with no crowds, and we were able to use the lounge right away. We also enjoyed dinner without needing a set Reservation time. Compared with other properties, it felt more relaxed and spacious overall. We could hardly use the open-air bath in the morning due to bad weather, but the step at the handrail area of the open-air bath is slippery, and people sit there, so it may be safer to make it into a step/stair to improve safety.

    One-Night Trip to Wakayama

    Last October, I stayed one night at Mercure Lake Biwa. It was so good that this time I chose Mercure Kushimoto for a Plan to visit the Kumano Kodo and Nachikatsuura. I was satisfied with the meals, the Room, and the bath. I would like to stay at Mercure in other regions as well. It would be appreciated if towels were provided in the large public bath.

    Dinner is not very good.

    The dinner buffet was not very good, and I personally felt the service was somewhat careless toward guests.

    Overall, it’s good.

    I stayed for one night starting on Saturday. I’ve used Mercure properties several times, but this one had many families, so it may not be ideal for those looking for a quiet stay. Check-in around 3:00 PM can also be a bit crowded. This can’t really be helped, but in the morning I could hear children’s voices echoing in the hallway. The lounge was a little small, but it was nice that there were enough seats. The Room was well cleaned, but I was slightly concerned about stains or yellowing on the sofa. The large public bath was great with an ocean view.

    A Girls’ Getaway for Grown-Ups

    This was my first time staying at this Hotel, and it was even better than I expected. The Room was on a higher floor with a great view, and it was very clean. The food selection was extensive, with both Japanese and Western options—there were so many things I wanted to try that it was hard to choose. Everything tasted delicious, and I was very satisfied. I would love to stay here again the next time I visit.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    This was my first stay. The Room was a Japanese-Western style, and you lay out the futon yourself. There is a water dispenser on each floor, which is very convenient. The bath was spacious, and the open-air bath was also great. My skin felt so smooth that I went in three times. After the bath, there were Wakayama’s famous Sowa mandarin drinks: mandarin water, mandarin black tea, and mandarin green tea, and at night there were ice pops. Meals are buffet-style for both dinner and breakfast, and everything was delicious—especially the tuna sashimi and roast beef. Since the Hotel is on a hill, the view is great, and the sunrise from the Room was so beautiful it was dazzling. There are many sightseeing spots nearby such as Kushimoto and Katsuura, so I would like to stay here again next time. Thank you very much.

    A Hotel with just the right sense of distance.

    I visit the Kushimoto area every few years, and this was my first time staying here. The staff’s greetings were attentive, and the Hotel was kept very clean. The large public bath was spacious, with a sauna and an open-air bath where you can enjoy the view. There was also a generous relaxation area after bathing, so the Facilities were more than sufficient. Since it has been quite some time since the Hotel was built, it does feel a bit dated in places, but it also felt well maintained, so it didn’t bother me. We stayed with three people, and the Room size did not feel cramped. Our main purpose was to dine at a restaurant in Shingu, so we did not have dinner here and cannot comment on it. Breakfast had a wide variety of options, and the staff worked efficiently to serve many guests; I had no particular complaints. Overall, I felt this Hotel offers good value for money. I would like to stay here again when visiting southern Kishu.

    Relaxing Multiple Night Stay (2 nights)

    We had a relaxing stay in an ocean-side Japanese-Western Room. The view from the Room was outstanding, and both the lounge and the Onsen were very comfortable spaces. The meals were, of course, delicious as well.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    Both the meals and the Onsen were very satisfying. The Facility itself felt a bit old, but it was kept clean. It was a little disappointing that the air conditioning wasn’t individually controlled, and although we stayed for two nights, the meals were almost the same. We could also see a beautiful sunrise from our Room, which made it a very satisfying trip. It was also a good impression that the elevator arrived quickly. We would definitely like to visit again.

    Perfect for a girls’ trip.

    This was my first stay. Lounge: From 3:00 PM, I was able to relax with alcohol (including beer), soft drinks, and snacks while enjoying the ocean view. A beer after a long drive is exceptional! Room: We stayed in an inner Japanese-Western style Room. Since there were three of us, we laid out one futon set in the tatami area, and even with a table there was still plenty of space—very comfortable. The Room was thoroughly cleaned and felt great to use. However, the only sink was in the unit bath, which was a bit inconvenient when doing makeup. It also got plenty of sunlight, so we didn’t need heating. Dining: Every dish was creative and delicious—I had trouble deciding what to try. All the desserts were also excellent, and I enjoyed sampling small portions of each. I was especially happy they had pink grapefruit. Large public bath: Both the changing area and bathing area were very clean and pleasant. I could watch the sunrise from the open-air bath, which made for a wonderful start to the day. Amenities: They were neatly provided together in the Room (toothbrush, hairbrush, razor, cotton set). However, it was disappointing that there wasn’t a shower cap. The price felt very reasonable and it was so comfortable that it made me want to stay again at this Hotel.

    The Room is comfortable.

    The Hotel itself is comfortable. The view of Hashigui-iwa from the window is amazing. However, access from the station to the Hotel and from the Hotel to sightseeing spots is so poor that it’s inconvenient without a car. There is Shuttle Service and a community bus, but there are very few runs, so I ended up walking 20 minutes from the station. Also, it’s not good that there’s nothing in the Room indicating which number to call for the front desk when you want to contact them. I’d like it clearly posted somewhere easy to find (I pressed numbers starting from 0).

    It’s disappointing that the main dish is a hamburger; at least an omelet would be preferable. It would also help if the curry were European-style rather than Indian curry. Other than that, this Hotel is very good and offers great value for the price.

    Spectacular View

    Following my stay in Ise-Shima last month, this time I stayed in Kushimoto. The Hotel stands proudly on a hill, and it was impressive to think, “Ah! I’m staying at that Hotel today!” The Room was spacious, and the view overlooking Hashigui-iwa Rocks and Oshima Island was outstanding. I was also satisfied with the bath and the meals. The only disappointment was that the coffee machine at breakfast had a long line. I would appreciate it if you could provide a coffee urn like those used for banquets or conference venues. It’s a very good Hotel, so I’d like to stay again, just as I did at Lake Biwa and Ise-Shima.

    I’ll be satisfied if a few improvements are made.

    It was disappointing that there was no coffee in the Room. Since the loungewear is one-size-fits-all, it was too large for women, so it would have been better to have other sizes available. Also, the pillows were far too soft, and even stacking two did not make them comfortable to sleep on. The foreign staff member at the front desk speaks good Japanese, but spoke too fast and was hard to understand; it felt as if they were speaking quickly on purpose. I would like these points to be improved.

    My First Stay at Mercure

    This was my first time staying here. The lounge was wonderful, and even though I don’t drink alcohol, it really lifted my spirits! For those who love alcohol, it must be irresistible. Dinner was a buffet as well, and I enjoyed it. Personally, I would have liked a wider selection of seafood. The Room did feel like an older Hotel that had been renovated, but I actually liked that atmosphere. The Room was also more spacious than a typical business hotel, so I could relax comfortably. Since there are still locations in the Kinki region, I’d like to stay again.

    I enjoyed a relaxing stay in this small, quiet place.

    Unlike other Mercure hotels, I appreciated that the air purifier was already running when I arrived. It was also convenient that all amenities were already provided in the Room. Hashigui-iwa can be seen even from the open-air bath. My Room faced the mountains this time, but next time I’d like to book an ocean-view Room (with a better view of Hashigui-iwa).

    Great value for money

    Stayed with 3 people for under 10,000 yen (using IKYU Points). The building feels a bit old, but it is well-maintained and clean. Unfortunately, there are no massage chairs, game corners, or karaoke facilities, which might make it a bit boring. The pool may get crowded during summer use.

    I have stayed at four Mercure accommodations, and this was the best. The room layout and size were the same, but at Kushimoto Mercure, everything like the bath and restaurant was conveniently located on the first floor, making it easy to navigate, and the lounge had a relaxing atmosphere. (It might have been because it was a calm weekday.) The bath was clean, and the open-air bath was excellent. The changing room and rest area were also spotless. Although it's in Wakayama and takes some time to get there, I would love to stay again. Of course, the staff were friendly and easy to talk to as well.

    Overall, I was satis...

    Overall, I was satisfied. Although I arrived early, they kindly accommodated me at the reception. The staff were all friendly and welcoming with smiles, which made me feel good. The spacing of the stones in the open-air bath was well thought out, allowing everyone to enjoy half-body bathing. The full moon and beautiful stars added to the pleasant experience. If I may make a few suggestions: - It would be nice if the food could be kept warm. The mapo tofu and fried rice felt cold and greasy. - Since we bathe in the morning and evening, it would be great to have two sets of bath towels and towels per person. - The lounge beer service ends at 5 PM; extending this time a bit longer would be appreciated. - In the changing room, the locker spacing is narrow, making it difficult to change when back-to-back with others. - When going to the bath, slippers are left outside but sometimes get mixed up or taken by mistake; providing bags for storing them in lockers might help. - The lounge was popular but crowded; I had to take my drink back as there were no seats available. During busy periods, perhaps additional tables on each floor could be provided for seating? I looked forward to relaxing in the lounge with a drink but couldn’t fully enjoy it due to these issues. Despite these comments, both my Room and bath experience were very comfortable and satisfying overall. Thank you very much!

    All-Inclusive

    It was quite crowded as it was the year-end season. The room was clean, and though it felt a bit old, the view of the sea was excellent. The open-air bath also offered a view of the sea, and watching the sunrise from there was wonderful. However, I noticed someone with tattoos entering the Onsen without covering them, which was slightly concerning. Additionally, setting specific meal times might help avoid crowding during peak hours and could be an area for improvement.

    The bathroom is disappointing.

    A trip to relax and rejuvenate both body and mind. I planned to enjoy the outdoor bath, but in the morning, the water was cold. The indoor bath was also cold, leaving me chilled and rushing to the sauna. Many others around me were also complaining about the cold and hurriedly getting out. Please check the water temperature in the morning. It would be great if beer at the lounge could be available at night as well so that we can enjoy it after a bath—please consider this suggestion. The Room was spacious with a great view, but I would appreciate having two sets of bath towels and towels each. At your Kyoto Miyazu location, there were two sets provided per person. I’d like fresh towels for both evening and morning use.
