    The bathroom is disappointing.

    A trip to relax and rejuvenate both body and mind. I planned to enjoy the outdoor bath, but in the morning, the water was cold. The indoor bath was also cold, leaving me chilled and rushing to the sauna. Many others around me were also complaining about the cold and hurriedly getting out. Please check the water temperature in the morning. It would be great if beer at the lounge could be available at night as well so that we can enjoy it after a bath—please consider this suggestion. The Room was spacious with a great view, but I would appreciate having two sets of bath towels and towels each. At your Kyoto Miyazu location, there were two sets provided per person. I’d like fresh towels for both evening and morning use.

    About the Room's Bathroom

    The door handle was poorly fitted, making it difficult to open from the inside and almost causing entrapment. The meals were excellent, and the complimentary alcoholic drink service was a nice touch.

    Both the Room and Onsen offer ocean views.

    The view was fantastic as it was a sea-facing Room! However, the unit bath had a slight sewage smell, which was a bit disappointing.

    Inclusive and Fully Satisfying!

    I stayed at the Mercure Hotel and was completely satisfied with its all-inclusive service compared to the Oedo Onsen Monogatari I visited three years ago! Welcome drink → Onsen → Dinner buffet & free drinks → Night lounge before a happy sleep. The next morning, sunrise Onsen → Morning buffet to start the day energized. I look forward to staying at the Mercure Hotel again in the future!

    Pork Shabu-Shabu

    We enjoyed a relaxing Multiple Night Stay, soaking in the Onsen and indulging in delicious meals. On the second night, we had pork shabu-shabu for dinner, which was the most delicious dish of all. My husband went for 10 refills. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

    Kushimoto Mercure

    All-you-can-drink and all-you-can-eat options were available at an affordable price, which was great. The bath was spacious, and the open-air bath offered a stunning view of the sea with a beautiful sunrise. There was also a large pool, so I’d love to visit again in summer with my grandchildren!

    First-time Accommodation Stay

    Located on a hill with an ocean view. The price is reasonably set, so the staff was minimal, but the room was spacious and comfortable. Meals were buffet-style with all-you-can-drink alcohol and soft drinks. We were satisfied with the meals at this accommodation fee. Thank you very much!

    I had a relaxing stay.

    This was my first stay, and I was satisfied with the room, view, bath, and meals. The staff, including those at the front desk, were kind and very pleasant. I would like to visit again with my grandchildren when I have the chance.

    Best value for money

    The accommodation fee was affordable, so I had some concerns, but the open-air bath and room were spacious, the meals were delicious, and the service at the front desk was excellent. I'm really glad I stayed here! I’ll definitely visit other Mercure accommodations in the future!

    Please provide your request for improvement.

    I had booked a 90-minute Plan starting at 5:30 PM, but during check-in, I was told I could come anytime and stay as long as I wanted. However, when I went to the restaurant, there was a sign stating it was limited to 90 minutes. When I asked the staff, they said it applies during busy times. Please ensure consistency between front desk information and restaurant policies. The restaurant layout makes it difficult to grab something simple like soy sauce without cutting into long lines. Also, when trying to get just ice for drinks, the machine's text is hard to read and can lead to mistakes. The elevator button labels are also hard to read. There were no cleansing or facial soap products in the bath area, which was inconvenient. It would be great if more seats could be added in the lounge. Having only one spot for carbonated water is also inconvenient. While there are areas for improvement, overall I was very satisfied with my stay. I plan on using another Mercure property again at year-end!

    Comfortable Stay

    Welcome drinks are available until 10:00 PM, allowing guests to relax even after dinner. The variety of food is abundant, and the meat and fish were especially delicious. The mini donuts were also tasty. Staying in a sea-facing Room allowed us to enjoy the sunrise and a view of Hashikui Rock. The scenery is stunning. I immediately recommended this Hotel to my relatives.

    The view was excellent.

    The weather was nice, and it was great to have a view of Hashikui-iwa from the room. The amenities and meals are fairly standardized and not much different from other Mercure resorts. The cost-performance is good, but for those who don't drink alcohol, it feels like a slight disadvantage each time. Visiting on a weekday allowed for a relaxing experience with both the Onsen and meals.

    Check-in took a very long time. The all-inclusive service was great, and the time spent in the lobby was enjoyable. I was able to watch the sunset, which was incredibly beautiful.

    The meals are excellent!

    I didn't have high expectations since it was a buffet, but it turned out to be amazing! For this price range, it's the best! The room has some age, but the meals were very satisfying, and the staff were pleasant. It was a great accommodation!

    Check-in Service Attitude

    The front desk staff lacked basic hospitality skills, with an expressionless demeanor, overly formal attitude, and even wearing their name tag upside down. It was an unpleasant experience right from the start. However, I was comforted by the sight of an elderly woman at the dining area who sincerely apologized while diligently replenishing ingredients on her own.

    Caution: Power Outlet Plug

    There is no power outlet by the bedside, so it might be a good idea to bring an extension cable. It could have just been the Room I stayed in, but I needed a power source for my CPAP (a medical device for sleep apnea), and the cord didn’t reach the bed. I couldn’t go to buy one at the convenience store since I had already consumed alcohol.

    Great value for money!

    Stayed over the weekend. The building feels a bit old, and the Room does not have USB outlets. However, the cleaning was thorough. Meals were buffet-style with a wide variety of food, and everything tasted delicious. But since there is no time-based rotation system, it gets crowded at the start of meal times, and there are long lines for food. The large public bath includes an open-air bath and is very relaxing. However, the shower pressure was weak with insufficient water flow. Every Hotel has its pros and cons to improve upon. I would like to stay here again!

    For the price.

    I made a reservation through this site. The price was very reasonable, so I was a bit worried, but it turned out to be great. The front desk staff were international, and while communication was slightly challenging at times, it wasn't a big issue. The pool was perfect for elementary school kids. The bath had a comfortable temperature, and the sauna was excellent. Meals featured local ingredients and were delicious. It would have been perfect with more variety in sashimi and sake options. My children were also very satisfied.

    Best value for money!

    The view from the Room was amazing! The sunrise was incredibly beautiful! I don't drink alcohol, but for those who do, it seems perfect. It appeared that alcohol was unlimited both in the lounge and at the buffet. I enjoyed a lot of delicious food. I would recommend this to my daughter as well! Thank you very much.

    Impressed by the pest control staff!

    We stayed for two nights. The view of Hashikui Rock from the window was amazing! I love hotels where you can open the windows, as it allows for proper ventilation. At night, I left the window open with the lights on, and without realizing it, a large number of insects came in. I called the front desk in tears, but they promptly brought a vacuum cleaner for insect removal and took care of them perfectly. It was very reassuring and made me so happy. With such warm and attentive staff, I would love to visit again. The all-inclusive meals were also very delicious. In the morning, similar dishes were served as at night; however, dinner felt more luxurious and enjoyable. I savored organic red wine along with roast beef and shabu-shabu. There was also tuna, bonito fish, and sushi available—if only there had been pure rice sake (junmai sake), it would have been perfect! Thank you so much for your hospitality! Looking forward to visiting again soon!

    All-Inclusive Satisfaction

    Enjoying a nearby drive trip as a couple. Stayed one night at Mercure Wakayama Kushimoto. Experienced the cool temperature at Shionomisaki, the coldest spot in the Kansai area. Perhaps due to the Kuroshio Current, it indeed felt cooler than our home. At the Hotel, we swam in the pool for the first time in a while. Dinner included free alcohol, making it a highly satisfying trip for us as a couple who loves drinks!

    The meals were disappointing. Many items seemed pre-made, and the taste was underwhelming. While it might be suitable for families with children, we found both the flavor and quality of ingredients to be lacking.

    The Obon period is extremely busy.

    I stayed for one night to visit a sushi restaurant in Kushimoto. It is a large hotel with many guests, so there was some waiting involved—lining up for check-in, the elevator, and the free lounge, which was quite busy. The free lounge offers draft beer and sparkling wine, but it’s only available during a short time in the afternoon, so be mindful of that! The view from the room was fantastic with a clear sight of Hashigui-iwa rocks. This accommodation is convenient and reasonably priced, so I would like to stay here again when visiting Kushimoto. Thank you very much for this experience!

    Improvement points

    Stayed for 2 nights, but having the same meals for both breakfast and dinner is something I’ve never experienced before. The menu should be varied. On the second night, the room was changed, but there was an odor on the sheets. Were they really replaced? The mattress was terrible. There were no glass cups in the room or an ice maker, which I’ve also never encountered before. Shouldn’t there at least be glass cups provided? The shower flow in the public Onsen felt unnatural and should be improved. It’s disappointing that cleanliness was lacking as well. The space leading to the public Onsen could be utilized more effectively. The attitude of the pool staff didn’t seem professional or attentive to their duties. The location and Onsen were great; however, everything else was quite disappointing.

    A typical Japanese Resort Hotel. I had a comfortable stay. Unfortunately, it was during the busy season, and I wish I could have spent more time relaxing, but given the location and season, it couldn't be helped. In any case, thank you for providing a pleasant experience. However, I would appreciate some consideration regarding strict check-in times (though it was nice that keys were handed out efficiently), the lounge service (a large glass for beer would be preferable; being confined to that lounge—which felt more like a lobby—was somewhat inconvenient). Balancing these aspects with guest numbers and pricing might be challenging, but your attention to this would be appreciated.

During our visit, both the buffet and the baths were not crowded, making for a comfortable experience. However, as there were many families staying, areas like the free drink section might get busy during peak seasons. The buffet was plentiful for both breakfast and dinner, though it would be nice to have more "vegetable-only" options available. The staff provided pleasant service; however, when inquiring about ingredients in the dishes served, clear answers were not always provided. Some hotels include allergen information next to dish names at their buffets—this would be helpful here as well since it's sometimes hard to tell what ingredients are used just from the dish name. Displaying key ingredients would be greatly appreciated!
