    This Accommodation was ideal for sightseeing around Kashihara.

    I considered a day trip, but this time I wanted to take my time sightseeing around Kashihara, so after looking for Accommodation I decided on Grand Mercure Nara Kashihara. The price was very reasonable, and although I didn’t have high expectations for the meals, both dinner and breakfast were excellent. I was surprised that the lounge offers free soft drinks, alcohol, and snacks. The staff were also very courteous, and I had a comfortable stay. I also found out there is a Grand Mercure in the Ise area, so I went ahead and made a Reservation for my March trip as well.

    Thank you for your support.

    It is conveniently located just a short walk from Kintetsu Kashiharajingu-mae Station, making it very convenient for sightseeing in the area. Breakfast featured creative dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, and it was better than at other Mercure Hotels.

    Pleasantly surprised.

    I chose this Hotel mainly for its convenient access for sightseeing in Asuka Village, so honestly I didn’t have high expectations. However, I was pleasantly surprised: the buffet offered local specialties, the free-flow drinks at dinner were truly professional with a sommelier on hand, and the renovated Room was clean and comfortable. I think it’s a Hotel that works well for families, friends, or solo travelers. I wasn’t able to see everything in the Asuka area this time and will be coming back, so I expect to stay again. Thank you.

    Overall, it was very...

    Overall, it was very good. The Room was spacious, and the meals were great. However, there was a guest with tattoos using the bath. I wouldn’t mind small tattoos, but they were quite noticeable. I think this should be enforced more strictly.

    We had a wonderful Hotel stay.

    I really enjoyed the lounge service I had been looking forward to—the whiskey-infused drink in the evening was especially delicious. The lounge was quite crowded, but everyone was well-mannered, and the Hotel staff seemed to guide guests efficiently, so I had a great time. During the tatami coaster-making experience, I waited my turn on a nearby sofa, but it wasn’t very clear in what order we would be called. When it’s busy, having numbered tickets might make it easier to understand. The large public bath was also very clean and relaxing. It was my first time staying at Grand Mercure, but I would like to stay again. Thank you very much.

    Circus

    We stayed on the Plan that includes circus tickets, and we were very satisfied with the circus! At the Hotel, there were kid-friendly activities such as a woodworking experience and making coasters, and our oldest son (in his final year of kindergarten) was thrilled. Compared to other Mercure properties, the buffet felt smaller in scale, but there were more delicious options than elsewhere, and we enjoyed a satisfying meal as a family.

    We stayed during the...

    We stayed during the cold season mainly to enjoy the Onsen and relax in the lounge. When we arrived at the Hotel after 3:00 p.m., there was a very long line for check-in. The staff worked efficiently, but it felt like there were not enough front-desk staff for the number of guests. Would it be possible to introduce self check-in like a Business Hotel? Guests who were not in line could use the lounge, but since this was our first stay and we didn’t even know where it was, we had no choice but to wait in the lobby sharing a table with others. As mentioned in Reviews, the lounge capacity did not match the number of guests. At first there were no seats available, which was frustrating. The seating was also very close together, so it didn’t feel relaxing. The Onsen I had been looking forward to was difficult for me—perhaps due to the water quality, my eyes stung when I soaked, and afterward I had a runny nose. The yukata fabric was quite stiff, and when I woke up my shoulders were very sore. I wish they offered something like a two-piece samue instead. Breakfast was enjoyable, with many appealing options including Japanese and Western dishes as well as local specialties. After check-out we planned to visit Kashihara Jingu Shrine, but snow had piled up and we weren’t sure what to do. A staff member said, “You don’t often get to see Kashihara Jingu Shrine in the snow,” which convinced us to go. With the snow and fewer visitors, the shrine felt quiet and mystical, and we were able to have a wonderful visit. There were some areas where I wished things were a bit different, but every staff member was kind, and overall they left a very good impression.

    Conveniently located near the station, making it ideal for travel.

    The breakfast offered a great variety and was delicious—I really enjoyed it and was very satisfied. The large public bath was clean and spacious, and I was glad the shower heads were ReFa, but there were quite a lot of children, so I couldn’t really relax in the tub. The steam sauna was also great, and the complimentary post-bath drinks were very nice. However, the scent on the front desk floor was quite strong and bothered me.

    First Stay

    On my first stay, after completing the check-in procedures, I was able to relax in the lobby until check-in time. I was told at reception that there were many guests today, and indeed both the lounge and dining venue were quite busy. Even so, the staff responded quickly and courteously without forgetting their smiles—true hospitality. The Room showed signs of age, but it felt reassuringly familiar that various functions worked even without inserting a card key. I also appreciated the eco-friendly efforts. I was happy to be able to visit Kashihara Shrine as well. The hot water was great too! I’d love to stay again. Thank you very much.

    Traveling with my son

    After staying here once before, I fell in love with the all-inclusive experience. When I started looking for a place where I could relax and enjoy drinks while chatting with my son, I made a Reservation at this all-inclusive property in Nara Kashihara—perfect for unwinding. Once again, the wonderful service and delicious food and drinks exceeded my expectations. I will definitely stay here again.

    The hot spring water quality is excellent.

    The dinner hamburger and cream puff were delicious. The cream puff has a thin pastry topped with crunchy sugar and is filled with plenty of cream, so I highly recommend it. In the lounge, if you drink alcohol, I think it’s a great deal since they have two kinds of draft beer and also Riku whisky. We had juice. The Room was spacious and clean. The Onsen was an issue. It was clean, but about 80% of guests (including us) kept sneezing constantly. Even people who don’t have hay fever or rhinitis said their sneezing wouldn’t stop and their eyes felt irritated. Three guests mentioned that the ventilation fan was completely black (covered in grime). That may be the cause? The water quality was very good, so if that part is improved, I think it would be perfect.

    An older Facility with little hospitality.

    The Hotel hallways are dirty, and the plumbing fixtures are outdated. In the Room, there is no mineral water, toiletries, coffee, or tea. I inquired about a lost item and was told they would call after checking, but I never received a call. They seem unmotivated, and I have decided not to stay here again.

    Maybe I expected too much...

    I was looking forward to my stay, but the Classic Twin Room felt dated, both the Room and the Facility. The large public bath wasn’t circulating, and there was only one tub, so it was a bit disappointing. Since alcohol is all-you-can-drink, there were many guests even on weekdays, and the lounge was crowded. The seating was also quite close together. There were many kinds of dishes and they were delicious. However, instead of having seating arranged around the food area, it was laid out with the food in front and seating in the back, which made it inconvenient to go get food even though it’s a buffet. The staff were polite and very helpful. The other guests weren’t particularly noisy; there were many adults and families. This time I got a discount during a sale, but at the regular price… that’s how I feel.

    No Japanese-style rooms are available.

    I was surprised that we had to make our own futon, and on top of that it felt like a decades-old, thin futon—I couldn’t sleep because my body hurt. The bath water was also far too lukewarm, so I couldn’t bring myself to get out. The lounge seemed to be saving on air conditioning and felt stuffy, so I couldn’t really enjoy much beer. Dinner was good. However, it was disappointing that there were hardly any meat dishes. Even the all-you-can-eat fugu was only fried chicken pieces. I probably won’t return.

    It is a good Hotel.

    I’ve stayed at Grand Mercure Kashihara Nara several times, and it’s one of my favorites. It was also helpful that the men’s bath now provides toner and lotion. I was looking forward to the crab this time, but it felt a bit different from the photos, and the taste was just okay. Overall, I think it’s a very good Hotel. I recommend it.

    Very nice accommodation

    It was very quiet and comfortable. Complimentary coaster and bookmark-making experiences were available, which were perfect as souvenirs and keepsakes. A paid calligraphy experience was also offered. For those who enjoy drinking, there was a drink service that added extra value. Since Asuka is nearby, you can also enjoy strawberry picking.

    More Enjoyable Dinner Buffet

    It was my first trip to Nara, and I really enjoyed the dinner and breakfast buffets featuring local Nara cuisine. The variety of dishes was abundant, and I was very satisfied. However, I would like to suggest one improvement for the dinner buffet. Please consider implementing a time slot system to reduce overcrowding. It was far too crowded, which caused some inconvenience. Additionally, the seating area was too far from the food stations. I am considering staying again next time, so I hope these improvements can be made.

    Mercure is the best!

    We have stayed here multiple times and always enjoy our experience. The all-inclusive meals are delicious, and the baths are relaxing. Regarding the baths, there are occasional issues with the shower temperature suddenly becoming too hot. For the women's sauna, it would be great if there were an option to switch between mist and dry settings or if it remains mist, to make it brighter and add a shower facility. We look forward to visiting again. Thank you!

    A cost-effective and comfortable Hotel.

    Enjoyed delicious meals and drinks, and relaxed in a clean Room. The large public bath was new, and the latest ReFa showerhead felt great. Thank you very much. However, one concern was the mist sauna; the interior was entirely black, making it hard to distinguish between seating areas and the open stone placement due to the steam. It made me wonder if anyone had ever gotten burned before.

    A bit disappointing

    The price is affordable. It has been nearly two years since Grand Mercure opened across the whole country. Compared to the early days, I feel that the cuisine has gradually changed. I visited four locations, but I think I've had enough for now. Since I don't drink alcohol, I was looking forward to enjoying the food.

    Completely different from the photos.

    The room was old and gloomy, the Onsen appeared to be an open-air bath in photos but was only an indoor bath, and with large groups of guests making it chaotic, it was far from relaxing. The lounge lacked wine at night and only offered strange snacks that were far from "local bites." Overall, it was completely unsatisfactory, and I would never stay here again—it's to the point where I feel like asking for a refund.

    The Hotel staff were wonderful.

    All the staff were friendly, approachable, and kind in their interactions, making the stay very pleasant. It was heartwarming to see how well the staff got along with each other. Even though there was a group of 200 guests staying on the same day, it didn’t feel crowded at all. I would love to stay here again. The affordable price was also a great bonus!

    Due to a late check-...

    Due to a late check-in, I could only use the lounge for about 15 minutes after my bath, but for a complimentary service, the variety of alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, and snacks was impressive and felt like great value. The public bath is compact but stylish and clean. I enjoyed it twice—once in the evening and once in the morning. The guest room wasn’t brand new but was spacious, comfortable, and relaxing. Even the in-room wear and slippers were stylish. I’d love to stay here again when visiting the Yoshino area. Next time, I’d like to try the breakfast buffet as well.

    Free Drink Lounge

    Check-in was available at 2 PM, but the free drinks started at 3 PM, and there was already a long line of people waiting, so arriving early didn’t make much sense. The free drinks from 3 PM mainly included snacks, with not much substantial food to eat. We were not informed about the lounge available from 9 PM, so we missed it this time. The all-you-can-eat crab and pufferfish buffet had plenty of crab, which was great. However, the pufferfish only came as fried pieces, which was a bit disappointing.

    A journey to pass the time...

    Kashihara Jingu Shrine and the preserved district of Imai-cho were wonderful to visit. Kashihara Jingu had a solemn and peaceful atmosphere, which was very impressive. The Grand Mercure Nara Kashihara offered a wide variety of delicious options for both dinner and breakfast. The Room was reasonably spacious and comfortable. However, the body soap in the large public bath did not lather at all, making it unusable—I had to use facial soap instead! Quite puzzling, isn't it?

    Was it not over capacity?

    Stayed on January 11th. I was prepared for a long wait at check-in, as this seems to be common at other Mercure Hotels, but the lounge was fully occupied and unavailable. For dinner, there was already a long line before the venue opened. When I entered slightly later, temporary dining areas had been set up in the lobby due to insufficient space in the main dining area. Even after entering, food replenishment seemed delayed and slow. As for breakfast, although I avoided peak hours based on information provided during check-in and went later, there was still a significant wait to enter. Once I started eating, an announcement was made that breakfast would end at 10 AM, leaving no time to enjoy it leisurely. While some level of crowding was expected during the holiday weekend, it felt excessively disorganized. It might be better to control guest numbers according to capacity limits.

    I stayed at the end of the year. The accommodation is close to the station and Kashihara Shrine, making it convenient for a morning stroll and visit to the shrine. Breakfast was served in a spacious banquet hall as a buffet, likely due to the high number of guests during the year-end period. I used the large public bath around 10 PM, and it was not crowded, allowing for a relaxing experience. The lounge had a wide variety of alcoholic beverages that my husband enjoyed, while snacks were appealing to children, which was great. I would love to stay here again.

    I chose this accommodation because of its high ratings, but it was disappointing.

    It might have been due to the New Year season, but there were many families, and I couldn't enjoy the Hotel in a calm atmosphere. The lounge from 21:00 also had many children, with snacks scattered around, which was disappointing.
