    Kindness

On the first day of our stay, when my child wanted apple juice and we were looking for it, the staff kindly brought some from the back for my child. All the employees were very kind, which left a great impression.

    The accommodation ha...

The accommodation has been completely transformed after being acquired by the Accor Group. Previously, when it was sold from the Yamato Group to a smaller company, much of its charm was lost. However, with Accor's efforts in staff training and facility upgrades, it has significantly improved, which is delightful to see. During my previous stay shortly after the acquisition by Accor, there were few noticeable improvements. This time, however, most of the issues I had noticed before were resolved, allowing for a very comfortable stay. That said, the use of the lounge could be better managed. For instance, during check-in when waiting for some time is necessary, making guests go all the way to a far corner on the third floor seems inconvenient. Additionally, while there are several restaurants on that floor lined up together nicely in one area—just having them there isn’t enough; perhaps more thought needs put into how they’re organized or presented overall? It felt unclear what system/processes were actually being used behind-the-scenes operationally speaking. This trip seemed filled w/young families traveling alongside their children everywhere around us throughout our visit here too! Another highly satisfying stay.

In September, we escaped the scorching heat of the lowlands and headed to the Yatsugatake Highlands. We were amazed by the salvia flower fields in the garden project, swayed by a cool breeze at an altitude of 1,200 meters, before heading to the Hotel. This was our third visit since its rebranding in April last year. Each time, we look forward to delicious meals, relaxing Onsen baths, and beautiful starry skies. This time, meal times were divided into two shifts to reduce crowding, which we found effective. At dinner, roast beef and Shine Muscat grapes were available at the buffet along with high-quality sake and red wine—great value for money! Conveniently located near Nagasaka Interchange, we plan to visit again next spring.

It was a truly wonderful trip.

Stayed in an Executive Twin with two children. The room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. The Executive Lounge was absolutely wonderful. It would have been nice to have ice cream available at night. Even if the room price increases slightly, I hope the Executive Lounge can remain open continuously from noon onwards. The children had a great time playing with activities like athletics and table tennis. The bath was spacious and clean, and the children loved it so much that they said they wanted to live here forever—it became their favorite hotel! It was such a fantastic trip! We look forward to visiting again!

There was a long line at check-in; it would be great if improvements could be made. The open tatami-floored hall with all-you-can-drink beer and wine in the evening is a nice touch, but it felt noisy and less relaxing due to many families with young children. Dinner was buffet-style, but there were few main dishes, leaving it slightly underwhelming. The free lounge access at night with whiskey available was a pleasant experience. Overall, this Hotel is convenient for families with children but may feel less relaxing for other guests.

I made a reservation the day before on a sudden impulse.

The Forest Lounge offers plenty of toys and books for children, while adults can enjoy a bit of beer or sparkling wine, and kids can sip on juice while snacking on treats. The basement has many play areas, making it an excellent accommodation for families with children. For older couples or groups seeking a quieter experience, opting for the executive option might be better as the dining and bath areas are lively with families. Next time, I would love to bring my grandchildren here.

    The meals are incredibly delicious.

The dinner was incredibly delicious, featuring local cuisine, locally sourced vegetables, freshly baked bread, and oven-fresh cream puffs. Each dish was carefully prepared and highly satisfying. The sweetness of the raw corn was astonishing. I also enjoyed the Yamanashi wine served in the lounge. Areas for improvement: I would like more thorough cleaning of the room's dust. Upon entering the room, there was so much dust that my daughter started sneezing and had a runny nose continuously. The air purifier filter and exhaust vent filter on the ceiling near the entrance were covered in thick dust, which scattered around when using a hairdryer. Dust had also accumulated on all four corners of the stand holding spare toilet paper rolls, making me wonder how long it had been since it was last cleaned. The door pocket inside the refrigerator felt rough with dirt as well. In addition to this, there were many food crumbs on restaurant chairs even though we entered at opening time in the morning—raising concerns that they might not have been cleaned since last night. The lounge sofas were stained despite being comfortable to sit on; it felt like such a waste. I hope improvements can be made regarding dust and cleanliness issues because without them, this accommodation would definitely be worth revisiting!

    The rice was too hard.

It was truly disappointing. The service was good, but the room was outdated. It was called a suite, but it was just a large room with no real charm. I could even hear the boiler noise while trying to sleep in the bedroom. The most unpleasant part was the food. Especially the rice—it was oddly soft and tasteless. All of the Japanese dishes were hard to enjoy. The Western dishes were somewhat acceptable, so I ended up eating only bread out of necessity. Honestly, I don't think I'll stay at any hotels in this group again.

Perfect for family or three-generation stays

We stayed at the accommodation with three generations of our family. Most of the other guests were also families with children. The facility was well-equipped with baby goods, making it a safe and comfortable stay for those with small children. Both the meals and the baths were excellent. The variety of alcoholic beverages exceeded our expectations, which was a pleasant surprise. However, we felt that the dinner buffet menu had limited options, which might become repetitive during a multiple night stay. On the other hand, both Japanese and Western-style breakfast options were delicious and highly satisfying! The children's playground in the basement was much larger than we had imagined, offering plenty of space for kids to play comfortably. The forest lounge was also very spacious. Despite being fully booked during summer vacation, we were able to use all facilities without any stress thanks to timely replenishment and dish clearing by staff members in lounges and restaurants. One area for improvement would be extending or adjusting the operating hours of the first-floor shop and delivery service counter (currently starting from 4:30 PM). We needed to send off large suitcases but had to take them to a nearby convenience store as these services were unavailable earlier in the day. Overall satisfaction was very high, and we would love to stay here again if given another opportunity. Thank you very much for your hospitality!

    Recommended for families with children

The building and rooms were beautifully renovated, which was great. The staff were also very pleasant. Our child (4th grade) thoroughly enjoyed stargazing and the Forest 8 activities. However, there were three disappointments: 1. Meal times are limited to 80 minutes for dinner and 60 minutes for breakfast. Due to the large venue, parents don’t have much time to eat leisurely if they need to help their children efficiently gather food on their plates. 2. Both the lounge and restaurant offered soft drinks from machines similar to those in family restaurants, but the taste was terrible. It might be due to cost-cutting measures, but it was disappointing nonetheless. 3. We used the Forest Lounge, but as mentioned earlier, the soft drinks tasted bad and only a few types of snack foods were available. Right after check-in, it was so crowded that there wasn’t even space to sit. Additionally, while the public bath was clean and nice overall, the floor was slippery and felt unsafe. Overall satisfaction: 4 stars out of 5!

Perfect for experiencing a luxurious stay with your family.

The building is beautiful, and we enjoyed a luxurious experience by having drinks in the lobby and eating Häagen-Dazs. There are plenty of play areas for children, as well as spacious spaces where you can read manga or play board games while enjoying a drink, making even spare moments enjoyable. The breakfast and dinner buffets were delicious and luxurious. With many guest rooms and lots of children staying, the facility was very lively, which made it comfortable for families to relax without worry. At night on the rooftop, we saw more stars than expected! We even spotted two shooting stars! It was wonderful.

    Simply the best accommodation!

We stayed as a family of four, including our 7-year-old and 4-year-old siblings. We were looking for an all-inclusive hotel where accommodation, meals, play areas, and activities could all be enjoyed in one place. Grand Mercure Yatsugatake had great reviews to begin with, and with some parts of the facility recently renovated, the overall cleanliness left a very positive impression. Above all, we were extremely satisfied with the variety of play areas, the selection of snacks and drinks (including alcohol) in the lounge, and the quality of meals! Our children kept asking during our stay and even on our way home: "When can we go again?" As an accommodation for families with kids, this hotel deserves full marks! We will definitely visit again!!!

    Recommended for families with children

It was summer vacation, so there were many children. It was very lively. The Facility was spacious and clean, and the staff were friendly and cheerful. The buffet was delicious and satisfying. However, there was a large spider web on the inside of the Room window, amenities were minimal, and the lounge felt more like a public bath waiting room or children's center since the Executive Lounge Plan was sold out. This Hotel is recommended for families with small children or for visiting during less busy periods.

    Kids will be thrilled! But...

We stayed for 2 nights with our 3-year-old son for the first time. The underground children's play area and buffet were fantastic, clearly showing the effort put into making this accommodation family-friendly. Our son had a great time playing on the equipment until he was sweaty, enjoying the Plarail on the third floor, and participating in nighttime stargazing events. It was such a satisfying trip for him that he exclaimed, "I don't want to leave!" He especially looked forward to having shaved ice at every meal during the buffet, which offered an impressive variety and quality enjoyable for both children and adults. However, perhaps due to the age of the facility or its large size making maintenance challenging, we noticed a lack of cleanliness throughout. We stayed in a pre-renovation room where walls, curtains, windows were dirty, and there was mold on the carpet. The bathroom in our room also smelled musty; even our son commented it was "smelly." The backrest of chairs had visible handprints, and the futons were hard—making it difficult for us adults to relax or sleep well during our stay. The bath area also showed signs of neglect; dust heavily covered signs at its entrance while slippery floors caused my child to fall despite not running. Additionally, most restaurant chairs were stained (though this might be expected given children often use them). Despite these issues with cleanliness overall, we truly appreciated how well-equipped play areas were along with delicious meals provided by friendly staff members who created such positive impressions! Renovated sections looked beautiful—if consistent cleanliness could extend across all areas someday—we would love returning again soon! Thank you very much for hosting us this time around!

    Very satisfied.

We stayed with two adults and two children (ages 4 and 3). The accommodation was beautifully renovated and very clean. Each facility was highly functional and easy to use. The meals were buffet-style, offering a wide variety of dishes, including many that children enjoyed, which was great. The food was also delicious for adults. It was nice that there were many areas within the building where children could play. While some activities were not suitable for younger kids, those aged 6 and above would likely find it extremely enjoyable. Having access to the executive lounge was another highlight. Being able to enjoy delicious drinks without hesitation is a wonderful feature. If I had to point out one downside, it would be the insufficient preparation of amenities, which felt inconvenient at times. For example, there were no bath towels or razors in the bathroom, while skincare products like lotion were only available in the bathroom area. Providing bath towels in the public bath area as well would greatly enhance convenience for guests.

    The layout is highly inconvenient.

The official website's FAQ mentioned that while check-in time cannot be moved earlier, the procedure could be completed in advance. However, when we arrived at the Hotel to avoid crowds, we were told that "procedures start from 1:00 PM," and it was not possible. (When I informed the front desk staff that there was no specific time mentioned in the FAQ, they responded with "What is an FAQ?") When we returned at 1:00 PM for check-in procedures, each group took over five minutes to complete their process. Although I was fourth in line, my check-in wasn't finished until nearly 1:30 PM. There was a notice placed near the waiting area stating "to simplify procedures," but it wasn’t clear if anything had been simplified. That said, the staff member who assisted us during check-in was very polite and composed. Both dinner and breakfast were served on a full turnover system, so there were no issues like lack of seating or empty dishes; however, the flow of movement within dining areas was poor. Despite having two floors for dining options, items were distributed differently across them—requiring guests to move back and forth frequently. While having many food options is great, navigating through such poorly designed traffic flow made it inconvenient. The floor dedicated to children’s activities lived up to its reputation seen on social media—it provided enjoyable experiences for kids—but overall facilities showed noticeable signs of aging. In terms of amenities at the bath area: child-friendly items like body soap as well as Snow Skin Essence lotion were appreciated. The hairdryers had strong airflow which dried hair quickly without much waiting time for others. Our Room was located on the third floor; however during checkout or meal times using elevators became extremely difficult due long waits where even after multiple attempts access wasn’t possible . Since we had stroller ,we ended up carrying both child along stroller down stairs instead .While understanding structural limitations may make immediate resolution challenging ,this seems recurring issue needing attention

    I was very hesitant ...

I was very hesitant about going due to the many negative reviews, and even considered canceling. However, despite my concerns, I decided to go. In the end, I felt that the hotel's efforts were evident and it turned out to be a good decision. The exclusive executive lounge seemed to have several people using it who were not supposed to be there. Even when the entrance alarm went off, staff did not check or address it and appeared to ignore the situation. Perhaps it's a difficult issue for them to handle... but considering we paid extra for this service, it felt disappointing. This might also result in losses for the hotel itself, so perhaps this is an area worth reviewing again. This concludes my final review with some unsolicited advice!

    Hotel for Children Only

Although advertised as child-friendly, the Room temperature settings require staff assistance, and the buffet quality is entirely tailored for children, leaving adults dissatisfied with repetitive meals. Paying 300,000 yen for a 2-night stay does not seem worth it. While public areas are decent, individual Rooms have peeling furniture paint and there is no pool, which was disappointing.

    Minor improvements

The facility, offering a comprehensive all-inclusive Plan with excellent amenities for children, was our first experience and left both the family and kids satisfied. However, I would like to point out a few concerns. Firstly, regarding the guest room: while the interior was renovated and very clean, there was an unpleasant sewage smell coming from the bathroom. Additionally, small oversights such as a disposable contact lens case (likely left by a previous guest) and a lid from one of the provided cups being on the floor were disappointing. As for dining: while there was a wide variety of dishes including options for children, I found that having two separate dining areas made it somewhat confusing due to inconsistent food placement. For example, desserts were located in front of the salad corner or next to live cooking stations in one area and also placed separately in another venue. While this might have been intended for convenience based on each venue's layout, it felt disorganized. The roast beef served lacked visual impact as it came pre-sliced into salad portions rather than being carved freshly in front of guests as expected. Breakfast included local ingredients with Japanese dishes; however, there were limited options representing Yatsugatake or Yamanashi cuisine which fell short of expectations. We stayed on an Executive Floor allowing access to its lounge where offerings like unlimited Häagen-Dazs ice cream delighted both adults and children alike alongside an extensive drink selection—an appreciated differentiation from standard services—but details such as visible colored T-shirts under staff uniforms or sneakers detracted slightly from creating an "executive" atmosphere. Overall satisfaction remains high but addressing these easily improvable aspects could significantly enhance future experiences!

A Hotel that keeps children entertained.

A Hotel that keeps children entertained. The meals are delicious, making it an excellent choice for families with kids. The athletic facility on the B1 floor is truly impressive. I always think how wonderful it would have been to have something like this during my own childhood. I've visited all three Grand Mercure locations near the Kanto area: Nasu, Minamiboso, and Yatsugatake!

The playground on the third floor was amazing!

After check-in, drinks and food were prepared in the large hall on the third floor. There were various toys and comics, which was amazing. My father seemed satisfied as he relaxed with a cup of coffee. The play area in the basement was also fun. I want to visit again. It would be even better if the comic Room could be used until late at night.

It was a very satisfying accommodation.

This was my first time using this accommodation. The facility was clean and left a very good impression. I would like to use it again when I visit Yatsugatake next time. However, I felt there were some points that could be improved, so I will mention them in this review: - The check-in process took an unusually long time (even though it was written that information about the facility could be accessed via a QR code while waiting in line, explanations were still being given, which seemed to cause delays). - Dinner and breakfast required reservation for specific times (while I had no problem reserving dinner, breakfast ended up on a waiting list. It made me anxious wondering if the waiting list would clear within the breakfast hours). - The closing time for the public bath is too early. Guests who have late dinner reservations end up rushing their bath time. It would be better if bathing were allowed until around midnight. If these points are improved, it will become an even better hotel! Please keep up the great work!

    The service was very...

The service was very polite and satisfactory. The facilities for children were also well-equipped, which we appreciated. However, the meals were unfortunately disappointing and received a low rating. The food lacked a consistent theme, and each dish was not tasty. Having stayed at many all-inclusive accommodations before, this one ranked the lowest in terms of dining experience. While buffets usually allow us to eat until full, this time we stopped eating at about half capacity. Additionally, the absence of an alcohol vending machine was very disappointing. We hope for improvements in the future and provide these comments as feedback.

    We stayed for one ni...

We stayed for one night as a three-generation family. It is a child-focused Hotel, and the children had a great time. We requested to have the twin beds in the Room pushed together, but they were left as they were, so it was difficult for us to move them ourselves. As for meals, there was a wide variety of options which was excellent; however, the time limit was short. With small children, we had to feed them first before adults could eat, leaving little time for adults to enjoy their meal leisurely. It would be appreciated if the time limit could be extended slightly.

    It was Mammoth Hotel.

We understand that the staff may be busy during check-in, but we would have appreciated a more detailed explanation. Especially, the system of reserving breakfast for the next day based on check-in order was inconvenient. Due to a late check-in, only late breakfast slots were available, which disrupted our plans for the next day. It felt too mechanical and lacked a resort-like atmosphere, which was disappointing. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the meals were delicious.

Summer Vacation with My Wife and Child

I stayed with my wife and child during the summer vacation. We became fans of this accommodation chain after staying at their hotel in Minamiboso, which led us to choose this stay. 【Facility】 The facilities for children are of the highest quality among hotels in the same chain! Additionally, the executive lounge within the hotel offers a pleasant experience for adults. I thought it would be even more enjoyable when our child gets a bit older. The onsen facility was also very clean and provided a relaxing experience! 【Dining】 Both dinner and breakfast exceeded expectations! The food available at various stations was delicious, and there were plenty of options for kids as well—very satisfying overall! However, it would be better if there were more carts for carrying trays or if they encouraged timely returns to improve convenience. 【Service】 Although this is not a facility where you interact much with staff, I noticed that the male staff at reception seemed inefficient, which was slightly disappointing... (This is usually an area where they excel, so it's unfortunate that this stood out.) Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay! We’d love to visit another location or return here again!

    I had a comfortable stay.

The hotel facilities were well-equipped, and I appreciated the variety of meals as well as the relaxation space and beverages prepared in the large public bath area. On that day, it seemed there were so many guests that even the parking lot was full (laughs), so I imagine it must have been challenging for the staff, but I was able to spend my time comfortably. If I may make a small request, it would be great if there could be a bit more variety in the snacks (sweets) provided in the club lounge. Thank you very much.

The smell of tobacco and unsanitary conditions.

【Pros】 - Most guests are families with children, creating a relaxed atmosphere with understanding towards kids. (This could be a downside for those who prefer the opposite environment.) 【Cons】 - Upon checking in around 3:00 PM and entering the room, the toilet had an intense smell of cigarette smoke, as if someone had just smoked there. Even as a smoker myself, it was overwhelming. By around 8:00 PM, the smell had significantly subsided—quite puzzling. - A large amount of hair was found on the floor in front of the side table between beds. It wasn’t tangled in the carpet and could easily be picked up with tissue paper, suggesting that vacuuming hadn’t been done properly. - Hair was also stuck to frost in the freezer section of the refrigerator—how does that even happen? Very strange. - Some playground equipment for children required helmets provided on-site for shared use; however, these helmets were soaked with sweat to such an extent that water dripped when lightly held. This made it uncomfortable to let my child wear one, so we decided not to use this equipment at all. - The forest lounge felt more like a rest area at a public bathhouse or even less appealing—not quite what you’d expect from a lounge experience unless you opt for an executive lounge upgrade. - The floor of the large communal bath was extremely slippery—a serious safety concern! - The drink options at the post-bath relaxation area were limited to "water and fruit vinegar." If catering towards children is part of your concept, perhaps consider offering more kid-friendly beverages instead! - The buffet was just average—neither particularly good nor bad—simply ordinary overall.
