    Wonderful Hotel

    The view from the Room was excellent, and the food was amazing. The staff's service was impeccable, and I would love to visit again.

    The view is spectacular.

    The renovated Hotel didn't feel particularly modern, but the Room had a contemporary design, and the updated bathroom was especially impressive. Above all, the view from the Room was stunning! Dinner was colorful and visually delightful, making it an enjoyable experience. The wide variety of alcoholic beverages was also a plus. However, it would have been nice if there were more options for children's meals as they mostly consisted of fried dishes. The various activities offered were great as well. The nighttime stargazing tour was enjoyable with staff providing explanations; however, it would have been even better if it lasted 5–10 minutes longer due to our short stay. The games in the lobby and the soccer game near the public bath were favorites for children. Next time we visit, we plan to check in earlier to enjoy a more relaxed stay. Thank you very much!

    A Slightly Disappointing Hotel

    The meals, service, and Facility were excellent. However, it was a bit disappointing that the private open-air bath could only accommodate one person and there was only one chair with a backrest in the room. Overall, it was an admirable Hotel due to the great dining experience and other aspects mentioned earlier.

    Highly rated reviews and beautiful photos led me to make a reservation. A few days before my stay, I received a call with information about the shuttle bus and meals, which made me look forward to staying at this accommodation. However, my high expectations were met with many disappointments, leading to this review. While there are rules for guests regarding attire within the hotel premises, the staff's appearance was overly casual. Some wore numerous piercings or had hair hanging down so much that their faces were obscured—this included restaurant staff who did not tie up their long hair, which felt inappropriate. The most disappointing aspect was dinner. Although they claim to focus on Nara's local ingredients, nothing felt fresh. The presentation lacked consistency and appeared careless; decorative flowers had fallen off dishes, and poorly arranged plates seemed ignored by those serving them. When I left some food uneaten due to its taste not suiting me, a staff member clearing the plate casually remarked, "Was it not your taste?" This surprised me greatly. Feeling guilty afterward, I tried eating more but found vegetables old and tough or dried out and wilted. The shabu-shabu meat was sinewy and impossible to chew—resembling thinly sliced spare ribs rather than proper cuts of meat. When I mentioned that "the sinew makes it inedible," all I received in response was an indifferent "Oh," without any apology whatsoever. The dessert pancakes served were pre-made; they arrived cold and hard—a disappointing end to an already unsatisfactory course meal. At breakfast time came another letdown: there was supposed excitement around opening large wooden boxes as part of an experience—but inside lay trays placed upside down! It completely ruined expectations set by such theatrics. Staff language also detracted from professionalism; phrases like “-ssu ka” (casual slang) or repetitive use of “we’ll be doing this for you” sounded unpolished alongside interactions lacking smiles altogether while interrupting conversations abruptly during service delivery moments further diminished hospitality quality overall here too! Multiple employees asked identical questions such as where we traveled from simultaneously engaging other guests similarly nearby creating awkwardness unnecessarily instead fostering welcoming atmospheres better suited toward guest comfort levels ideally speaking instead perhaps? We appreciate your comments to help us improve our accommodation for future guests. **Positive Points:** - Lobby games - Delicious meals - Open-air bath on the 6th floor - Night stargazing tour **Negative Points:** - Overstaffing during dinner service - Noticeable areas in need of renovation (e.g., wall cracks, blue tarp at the main entrance) - Additional charges system for various services (especially breakfast) Regarding breakfast, the standard option is satisfying enough, so this additional charge system seems unnecessary. Perhaps offering different plans such as a "Breakfast Upgrade Plan" could be a better approach. Overall, I was satisfied and would like to visit again. Thank you very much. However, I strongly urge immediate action regarding the blue tarp above the main entrance. It ruins the overall impression of your accommodation. If repairs are already underway, I understand; however, guests visit daily, so this cannot be an excuse—it’s an unacceptable situation. Additionally, there were too many staff members serving during dinner service. Was it some kind of training? The inexperienced staff and awkward explanations about dishes were distracting. Our table was near the entrance at one end of the dining area with a large number of staff bustling behind us—it was quite bothersome. Measures like partitions or other arrangements could have been made to ensure guest comfort since customers are seated even in these areas. The difference in experience between our seating location and those by the windows was significant and unpleasant—how do you assign seating order? Breakfast seemed appropriately staffed compared to dinner; however, this issue significantly impacted my satisfaction with dinner service. Thank you again for hosting us!

    The meal was exceptional, and the pairing with rare Japanese sake made it even more special. It was a birthday celebration for a loved one, and the atmosphere was truly uplifting.     Enjoyed the cherry blossoms.

    In March, we celebrated our parents and were well taken care of. Unfortunately, due to exterior wall construction, we couldn't enjoy the view from the dining area. However, we were very satisfied with the view from the panoramic bath and the stargazing tour at Mount Wakakusa. Thank you very much. As for the scenery, we decided to revisit during cherry blossom season with high expectations. While adjusting between work schedules and cherry blossom forecasts during the reservation process, peak bloom dates became fully booked in no time, so we hurriedly made a reservation. This year's cherry blossoms lasted longer than usual; although they had just started falling, we thoroughly enjoyed them. The flower-viewing sauna was also a rare and valuable experience that can't be found elsewhere!

    The view and hospitality are exceptional.

    We stayed for two nights in the Panorama View Twin Room. Thank you for your hospitality. The timing coincided with cherry blossom season, and the view from the window was spectacular. Every department provided a warm and courteous welcome and explanations, which made us feel very comfortable. We also appreciated how accommodating you were to our various requests. At night, we found a cute teru-teru bozu doll with a message on our room door, which we took home as a keepsake—it showed how dedicated your staff is. Since it was such a wonderful hotel, I would like to mention one downside: during dinner on the first night, some of the male floor staff were overly talkative and intrusive. A brief explanation of the menu would have been sufficient. On the other hand, on the second night, the female staff handled everything smoothly and professionally. The presentation of dishes was beautiful and vibrant; however, I found that their flavors did not leave much of an impression—this was disappointing. With so many dishes served, reducing their number while enhancing quality might be more appreciated by guests in my opinion. Breakfast felt somewhat lacking as well; I hope improvements can be made in this area moving forward. We also joined your stargazing tour—the breathtaking nighttime view from Mount Wakakusa left us speechless! Thank you for providing shuttle service to and from the station as well. It was truly an excellent stay—thank you very much!

    Accommodation for couples

    The private open-air bath had a dim anteroom, and the changing area was cold. There was a step that made it easy to trip, so caution is needed. I felt it would not be suitable for bringing my elderly mother. During dinner, the lighting was dimmed to enjoy the night view, but it made it hard to see the colors of the dishes clearly. I don't think it's necessary to use sea urchin forcibly; instead of focusing on luxury ingredients, I would prefer if they focused on using delicious ingredients and competing purely on taste. The eggs served in the morning were delicious—sourced from a contracted farm—and I even considered going there to buy some if time allowed. The accommodation showed efforts by staff with activities like nighttime summit tours and wood-splitting experiences, but overall, it still feels like a developing hotel. The staff's service was excellent.

    Thank you very much.

    The wine we had at the bar was absolutely delicious, and the excellent service made for a truly enjoyable time. The staff had a great understanding of the meal and selected wonderful wines for us at the bar afterward. It was a pleasant surprise to discover that one of them was from the same hometown as my husband, which led to lively conversations. Even though we stayed slightly past closing time, they kindly accommodated us, which made us very happy. Thank you so much!

    A Different World

    Enjoy a thoughtfully prepared meal while overlooking Nara City! A great Hotel where you can enjoy peaceful moments and even join a night view tour. Breakfast left a very positive impression. However, due to ongoing construction, the evaluation is slightly critical!

    I chose the Hotel for its view, but...

    The reason I chose this Hotel was because it was a hotel on a hill with a "panoramic view of the World Heritage" overlooking the cityscape of Nara. Although I was informed that there would be construction during my stay, I did not expect scaffolding to cover the entire window when I made the Reservation for the "panoramic view of the World Heritage." Honestly, I wish I had chosen another Hotel. It might have been my fault for not Confirming it. Moreover, since I invited two guests, it was disappointing. Aside from the view (the scenery is beautiful beyond the scaffolding; some people might not mind), both meals and service were good. Since there are surprisingly many Hotels under construction, it's better to directly Confirm what kind of work is being done. Once the scaffolding is removed, it's a recommendable Hotel.

    A Trip to Nara and Kyoto with My Mother

    Last year, I decided to visit Nara and Kyoto during the beautiful autumn foliage season and found a Hotel in Nara. Unfortunately, the day I stayed, it rained, so the stargazing tour activity was canceled, and I couldn't use the reserved private bath because it was raining quite heavily during the reservation time. However, I had a good time relaxing in the Room and enjoying the delicious meals.

    The most important thing should be conveyed.

    Reservation with a special price plan during facility renovation. The private open-air bath, which is the selling point of this hotel, was very attractive, so I thought some noise and scenery would not be a problem, and I made the reservation for the open-air bath. However, upon arrival at the property and during check-in, I was informed for the first time that the open-air bath would not be available during my stay, and I was stunned by the sudden news. The reservation page at the time of booking did not mention that the open-air bath would be unavailable (or that there was a possibility of it), and even the usage description of the open-air bath was properly posted. It seems that I unfortunately encountered the renovation of the private open-air bath on the day of my stay. That is unavoidable. However, if that was the case, it should have been communicated to the guests before their stay via email or, since there was a phone confirmation the day before, it should have been conveyed at that time. The fact that it was deliberately kept secret until the day of arrival makes me suspect that it was an intentional move to prevent last-minute cancellations. Even though it was a special price, it was not cheap, and if I had known from the beginning that the open-air bath was unavailable, I would not have stayed here. To be honest, I have no trust in this hotel. I was looking forward to it, so it is very disappointing.

    This was my first time using this service. I was looking for a Ryokan within an hour's distance from my elderly aunt's house, as a way for her to have a change of pace, and ultimately decided on this one. I was initially worried since it was our first time, but the proximity from the lobby to the Room, and the ease of access from the Room to the bath and restaurant, was very helpful. My aunt was delighted with the open-air bath with a scenic view, saying the temperature was just right and very pleasant. Although my aunt was initially skeptical about Hotel meals, the Japanese-style course meal exceeded her expectations. She usually only eats about half of her meal, but this time she managed to eat about three-quarters of it. The only disappointment was that the Room's air conditioning was not very effective, and even when we set the temperature to 28 degrees, the Room did not warm up. However, seeing my aunt so happy made me feel that choosing this place was truly the right decision.

    The view from Mount Wakakusa is magnificent.

    Just in time for the sunset. I regretted not arriving at the Hotel a little earlier to fully enjoy this view. The dinner dishes were explained in detail by the server, who described the creative cuisine with care. Moreover, the food was delicious. It was a taste I had never seen or experienced before. The wood-burning stove was also a nice touch. What was disappointing was the way they suggested changing the final dish to something else. Instead of an addition, it was a replacement, and they charged a full amount for it. While enjoying the stunning sunset, I felt guided into this decision, which left me feeling unpleasant afterward. The large public bath had no view, but it was spacious.

    A Hotel that feels somewhat lacking

    The room had two double beds, and although we stayed with three women, we were surprised to be told that there would be an additional charge of 3300 yen if we requested extra bedding. The dinner was overly elaborate, and the final dessert was mediocre. It was not a hotel I would want to visit again. The staff were kind.

    Recommended for the beginning of the year as well.

    Mochi pounding event available from January 1st to 3rd. Children can also enjoy the event at their own pace. Freshly pounded mochi with a variety of delicious toppings.

    It's all quite disappointing.

    The photos looked nice, but when I called here past 8 AM, I was informed that they only connect from 10 AM, which made me wonder if the hotel is not open 24 hours. Upon arriving at the hotel from Nara Station by shuttle bus and checking in, I found that the meal options I had already selected could be upgraded, with photos and prices displayed, but there was no sense of luxury at all. The private open-air bath can be reserved every hour, and when I went, the iron framework was fully visible as the outer wall seemed to be under repair. It was disappointing. I could even hear the sighs of the man next door. For dinner, I was surprised to be told to come dressed even though I had just bathed. I came to enjoy the onsen, but had to change again for dinner. The course meal was leisurely, with dim lighting, and it was not Japanese cuisine but fusion creative dishes. Many young people in their 20s were working. After dinner, I went to the bath on the second floor, only to find a small bath. There was no access outside, and nothing else. There was only one chair in the changing room. The morning breakfast was the best part. The elderly staff were kind. It was very cold as there seemed to be no heating in the corridors. There were scratches on the walls everywhere. I feel disappointed, wishing it had been a more relaxing environment.

    I was amazed by the beauty of the night view.

    When reserving a private open-air bath, I requested an early morning time thinking, "I might not see anything in the dark." The open-air bath with a view of Todai-ji Temple and the city of Nara bathed in the morning sun was truly wonderful (and the water temperature was really perfect!). However, during the night starry sky tour, I discovered the beauty of the starry sky and night view from Mount Wakakusa for the first time, and I thought the night open-air bath would have been wonderful too. I posted this to inform those considering a stay at ANDO HOTEL.

    The service was excellent.

    From the time we received the confirmation call the day before, we were able to discuss and decide on the best time for the private bath, and they carefully checked our allergies, making it a very good Stays. Stargazing was also enjoyable. The meals were excellent, and it was a very satisfying stay. Thank you for taking care of us.

    I went out to enjoy the moon.

    The cuisine, scenery, and attentiveness make it a very polite and comfortable Hotel. The atmosphere of the staff was also very good. I searched for a place to enjoy the moon and visited, and the poolside at night was quiet, with a beautiful view of the moon, which was very satisfying. I was also able to participate in a post-dinner tour, where I had my photo taken with the night view as a backdrop, encountered deer along the way, and enjoyed the full moon, spending a fulfilling time. I would like to visit again.

    The renovation backfired.

    The service was very good. However, the Room was renovated to install beds in a spacious Japanese-style room, but the height of the beds was awkward, making it difficult for us middle-aged people to get on and off. The plywood blocking the alcove was also... The placement of amenities (phone, memo, etc.) was inconsistent... I thought there were many areas for improvement. The dinner pricing was hard to justify, and the main dish, Yamato beef, was disappointing due to its toughness.

    I made a Reservation...

    I made a Reservation after reading the Reviews, but I had too high expectations. There is quite a difference in service depending on the person, but this was the first time I experienced such mediocre service at a Hotel. First of all, I would like to ask you to stop asking about additional menu items upon arrival. Honestly, it's hard to refuse. It just feels like a pushy sales tactic. During dinner, there were several staff members who seemed to be part-time workers. Their customer service was rough. As mentioned in other Reviews, I had informed them in advance about items I couldn't eat, but after they were served, a staff member came and said it was a mistake. It's not an allergy, so it would be okay if I accidentally ate it, but I don't think mistakes should be allowed. I was spoken to during the meal, but is there a manual for this? Even though the person was different, they were saying exactly the same words to the table behind us, which made me chuckle. Also, the elderly person at the breakfast reception prioritized their own tasks over attending to us, which was surprising due to the low level of service. The food was reasonably tasty, but not as much as I expected. The Yamatogyu beef in the sea urchin shabu-shabu was a bit tough. The breakfast was overall salty with dried fish and pickles. The Room was very clean and satisfactory, but perhaps the bed didn't suit me as my back started to hurt. I didn't use the large public bath, but the open-air bath was very nice!

    Commemorative Trip

    We stayed for our wedding anniversary trip. The staff's hospitality was excellent, and we enjoyed the delicious kaiseki creative cuisine. At the end of the meal, we received a surprise bouquet, which made for a memorable experience filled with gratitude and joy. We felt that the spirit of hospitality at this hotel was evident in many aspects. Although the main event of stargazing and night view watching was canceled due to sudden rain, we are grateful for the wonderful time that surpassed that disappointment.

    Quiet Stays

    I stayed in the Terrace Suite, but it was quite a distance from the front desk, and it was challenging as I had to pass through what seemed like an area outside the premises. There were also steps, which might be difficult for the elderly. The restaurant, being on a hill, offered a very beautiful night view, but unfortunately, I couldn't sit by the window for either dinner or breakfast. It would have been nice to enjoy a meal with a view by the window at least once. The restaurant staff were kind and attentive.

    I'm glad I chose this place.

    I was unsure about choosing a Stays for my first time in Nara, but choosing this Property was the right decision! When making the Shuttle Service Reservation in advance, they kindly assisted with various meal and open-air bath reservations, allowing me to visit with peace of mind. What stood out the most was how delicious the food was. The beauty of the presentation was wonderful, but the taste was excellent, and even though I usually leave some of the course meals, I enjoyed everything. I also participated in the stargazing tour, making the most of my time. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting Nara who is unsure about their Stays, wants to enjoy delicious food, values the view from the window, and wants to have a fun Hotel time! I would love to visit again in a different season in a few years. Thank you for the wonderful time.
