    I visited for a birt...

    I visited for a birthday trip. To conclude, the service was the worst. At check-in, other guests were offered welcome drinks while waiting, but we were not provided with any drinks. My partner also noticed this and felt the same way. It was unpleasant to see others being served while we were ignored—was it simply forgotten? Additionally, I requested a contact care set as part of the amenities service, which was delivered to our room. However, the cleaning solution had an expiration date that had already passed by two months. Shouldn't such things be checked before providing them? Is there no protocol for this? When checking out, as soon as we left the premises, staff quickly returned to the hotel without seeing us off properly or waiting until we were out of sight. Is this how you treat guests who pay a high price to stay at your accommodation? I often use international hotels and find their service much more pleasant in comparison. Even though your onsen and rooms are new and clean—which likely attracts many guests including international visitors—the poor service leaves much to be desired. I was really looking forward to this birthday trip but have no good memories from it at all. Thank you very much.

    Conveniently located for a perfect hidden retreat

    Stayed for two nights at the Fufu series accommodation for the first time. The deciding factor was definitely the natural Onsen! Conveniently located near Nara Station, with easy access to Todai-ji Temple, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, Kofuku-ji Temple, and Naramachi—all of which we visited. The meals were exceptionally delicious, featuring local Nara cuisine. Unlike some Kyoto-style dishes that can be watery and bland, everything here was flavorful (as someone raised in Kansai, I can attest to this). The room was very functional and comfortable with attention to detail. The bamboo grove view was incredibly soothing. Staff training is excellent; a Taiwanese staff member stood out with their warm smile and great hospitality. They did an impressive job handling Japanese Kaiseki cuisine—a testament to their dedication to omotenashi spirit. The bed suited me perfectly—not too hard—and all amenities were organic cosmetics of high quality; I even purchased some to take home. Although there’s an additional charge for the private medicinal bath, it’s highly recommended as it’s truly wonderful. I also enjoyed a spa massage during my stay along with a medicinal foot bath—the quality of the spa treatments was outstanding and I’d love to experience them again. While the dining area is separate from the rooms, shuttle service is available if needed—especially helpful for elderly guests as there are 2–3 minutes of stairs within the garden area. There’s also a bar and room service available (though extending hours or adding more menu options would be even better). Afternoon tea is another option offered. Overall, it was an excellent stay!

    Relaxing Accommodation

    It was a hot day, but thanks to the very clean accommodation and the wonderful staff, I was able to relax. Thank you for upgrading my room. The Sisley spa treatment, which was my main purpose, was excellent. As I've grown older, I’ve come to prefer simple flavors that highlight the ingredients themselves, but I was delighted that the sashimi included all my favorites and enjoyed every dish as they were all delicious. The bath may not compare to the spring quality of Hakone or Atami, but having access to a private onsen in the room at any time is a great pleasure. If possible, it would be even better if there were Sisley hair oil in the room and milk in the refrigerator! Thank you for allowing me to have such a wonderful time.

    This was the best accommodation I have ever stayed at.

    The Room was a type where you take off your shoes, so we could let our child crawl around safely. We traveled with 1 and 3-year-old children, and there was great consideration for babies' needs and meals. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality.

    This was my first visit to the Facility of Fufu. I was very satisfied with the customer service and meals. Although I accidentally broke a cup, the staff first showed concern for my injury. I would love to visit another Fufu Facility in the future as well.

    It was as wonderful as expected.

    I have stayed at Accommodation Fufu Atami multiple times and was already familiar with its charm, but Fufu Nara offers a different yet equally captivating experience. The bamboo path leading to the restaurant has a serene atmosphere, and the room and bath were very comfortable. For dinner on the first night, we were kindly provided with a corner table on the second floor with a great view. However, at 6 PM, the strong west sun made it quite hot. When we mentioned this, they promptly and graciously arranged another room for us. The hospitality provided a sense of reassurance throughout our stay. I would love to stay here again!

    The facility is excellent.

    I really liked the spacious Room and the open-air bath, and I occasionally visit. This time, both check-in and check-out were handled courteously at the booth. Although I was slightly bothered for about 30–40 minutes by a family behaving as if no one else was around, overall, my stay was comfortable. The meals were as delicious as always. I changed the main dish to abalone, which was very tasty; however, it might have been a bit strong in flavor when considering the overall balance. It’s disappointing that due to some inconsiderate comments, Chinese angelica is no longer included in the hot pot. Additionally, I missed having scorched rice with breakfast—it’s something I always look forward to. Both dinner and breakfast were served by different new staff members this time. While it surprised me a little at first, the person serving dinner properly apologized for any inconvenience caused, so it didn’t bother me much. However, during breakfast service, I noticed how tableware was handled—one staff member placed dishes on the table with a loud clatter without seeming concerned about it. This made me worry they might get chipped or damaged.

    Perfect for a Relaxing Stay

    This was our second stay, and we felt incredibly luxurious with a much larger room than before. The private bath allowed us to enjoy multiple baths at our own timing without worrying about other guests, which was truly indulgent. Since experiencing the convenience of having a private bath here, it has become one of the top factors when choosing accommodations for family trips. However, for three people, the Premium Corner Suite we stayed in previously felt sufficient compared to the Luxury Premium Suite. One family member who went to the spa ended up staying much longer than expected and didn’t return by dinner time, causing some inconvenience for the staff (the spa seemed so enjoyable that they lost track of time). The meals were absolutely delicious and more than enough in quantity (almost too much). During dinner, everyone particularly enjoyed the Asuka hot pot. After checking out and doing some sightseeing, we visited your café where even a casually ordered macaron turned out to be delightful! The hotel’s atmosphere, restaurant ambiance, and staff service were all truly exceptional. Regarding beverages provided in each room: previously there were tea bags available along with coffee; however this time there were six servings of coffee but no tea bags at all—an odd change (even items in the refrigerator differed from before; perhaps it varies by season?). I prefer tea over coffee but decided not to request any changes as it wasn’t significant enough to mention. Since the restaurant building is slightly distant from accommodations and it was rainy with slippery paths during our stay, we requested shuttle service for both breakfast and dinner. Although it was a short distance requiring multiple requests throughout our stay—which made us feel apologetic—the staff handled everything graciously. Overall, this was an extremely satisfying stay. Thank you very much!

    A small luxury resort befitting Nara, where garden and architecture are in perfect harmony.

    Fufu Nara, where you can feel Nara’s serene nature and history, was truly an exceptional Accommodation for a luxurious stay. ・The in-room open-air bath was outstanding! The open-air bath attached to the Room felt wonderfully spacious, as if you were soaking in the middle of a forest. Relaxing in the hot water while feeling the seasonal breeze helped me forget the bustle of everyday life. They also adjusted the water temperature upon request, which made it perfect. At night I enjoyed the view of the illuminated bamboo grove, and in the morning I was soothed by birdsong. ・The garden was also amazing! The beautiful on-site garden is impeccably maintained—like a living painting. On the way to meals, you pass through a beautifully lit bamboo grove, and even just walking there feels calming. The blend of traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern architecture was especially pleasant. ・Dining at Tekisui was excellent as well! At Tekisui (Japanese cuisine), you can enjoy creative Japanese dishes featuring plenty of local Nara ingredients. Every course looked like a work of art, and both flavor and presentation were impressive. The staff’s attentive hospitality also stood out and made it feel truly special. ・The only drawback: inconvenient access It was stated in advance that there is no Shuttle Service from the Accommodation, so we planned to arrive by taxi. However, perhaps due to sudden rain that day, we couldn’t find any taxis at all and ended up walking in the rain while pulling our suitcases. These days it’s common even for budget properties in less convenient locations to offer some form of pickup service, so this felt disappointing for a top-tier small-luxury Accommodation. Even so, the high quality of the Facility standards, service, and dining makes this an appealing place I would love to visit again. It ended up being my second consecutive stay at an accommodation designed by Kengo Kuma; this one felt especially ideal for anyone seeking a quiet, refined trip to Nara.

    My child keeps saying they want to stay here again every day.

    A short walk from Nara Station, it was closer than expected and very convenient. Thank you for upgrading our Room. The Room's interior and cleanliness were impressive. The variety of drinks, especially the cold-brewed green tea, was delightful—I finished it all by myself. My child was thrilled and enjoyed the open-air bath six times! The meals were delicious; however, the children's plate with items like hamburger steak, fries, and fried shrimp felt more like a typical kids' menu rather than something unique to Fufu. That was slightly disappointing but understandable as some children might not eat traditional Japanese cuisine easily. Even with just one night’s stay, we had an incredibly refreshing and satisfying time. My child has declared they want to stay at every Fufu property! Deciding where to visit next is already exciting for us. Of course, we will definitely return to Nara Fufu as well! Thank you very much!

    My first stay at Fufu was amazing!

    Staying at Fufu Nara, which I had wanted to visit for a long time, was an experience that exceeded my expectations. The staff welcomed me with warm smiles and excellent service, and I had a very comfortable stay in the Room. This time, I only enjoyed breakfast, but the view from the private dining area was stunning. The service provided by the staff member from Thailand was incredibly soothing. Of course, the taste of the food was impeccable! It was truly a memorable Hotel stay!

    A few days before ou...

    A few days before our stay, I tried to send a small package and called the accommodation to inform them, but every time I called, I only received a message asking me to call back. It took about an hour before I could finally get through. Honestly, this left a rather negative impression for a ryokan of this level. However, the actual stay was very pleasant. The accommodation is located on a hilltop with a garden that slopes into a bamboo grove below where the dining area is situated. Both are elegant Japanese-style buildings that harmonize well with the atmosphere of historic Nara. The bamboo grove is spacious and well-maintained, reminiscent of the bamboo paths in Shuzenji or Kyoto's Okochi Sanso. The staff were polite and attentive, responding promptly to all our requests without any issues—leaving us with a positive impression. While we had dinner plans outside, we enjoyed breakfast at the dining area. The meal featured local ingredients and specialties prepared in small portions with great variety—all deliciously crafted. Despite watching my weight, I couldn't resist having seconds of rice! After breakfast, they kindly drove us back up to our room as it was uphill—a thoughtful touch indeed. The dining seats were arranged not face-to-face but facing the bamboo garden so guests could enjoy the view while eating. One minor issue was that product tags in the gift shop had small text focused more on design than readability—it was slightly inconvenient. The room itself was excellent with an open-air bath, amenities, and comfortable beds designed for foreign guests (though they might feel slightly high for shorter Japanese individuals). There’s also an interesting feature—a small window for receiving deliveries without staff entering your room; my wife mentioned other "Fufu" accommodations have similar setups. Nearby attractions include Ukimido Pavilion and shrines where you can also spot deer—perfect for early morning walks! Local residents walking nearby were friendly and shared helpful sightseeing tips which added value to our experience. We made many wonderful memories during our stay and would love to try their dinner next time if given another opportunity!

    While there are many good aspects, the location makes it difficult to catch a taxi quickly, and even when called, it takes time to arrive. The lack of a shuttle bus gives a very inconvenient impression. Trying to walk instead of taking a taxi turned out to be an extremely challenging and unpleasant experience.

    We greatly appreciated the thoughtful consideration given to our 1-year and 2-month-old child in every situation. As adults, we also enjoyed a relaxing Room, spacious bath, delicious cuisine, beautiful garden, and the kind and attentive staff. We had a wonderful time and would love to visit again.

    Fufu is the best!

    This accommodation chain always provides a highly satisfying experience, and my first visit to Fufu Nara was no exception. I was particularly impressed by the concierge's attention to detail, as they seemed to have access to information from my previous stays at other accommodations in the chain. They accurately confirmed preferences such as breakfast timing and smoking areas even before I asked, ensuring a comfortable start to my stay. The teppanyaki dinner and Japanese-style breakfast were both of exceptional quality and quantity, leaving me thoroughly satisfied. The room's facilities were very comfortable, especially the onsen with an open-air bath and herbal bath options, which I enjoyed until just before check-out time. Unfortunately, it rained heavily on both days of my stay, so I had to request shuttle service instead of walking through the bamboo path leading to the dining area "Tekisui," which I had been looking forward to exploring. Hopefully next time I'll be able to enjoy a leisurely walk there. One suggestion for improvement would be regarding the indoor herbal bath; its deeper design made getting in and out slightly challenging—adding steps like those in the outdoor bath would be helpful. Additionally, adjusting the shower temperature was somewhat tricky; a more user-friendly system would enhance convenience. While reviews may vary among guests, I personally found this accommodation highly satisfying and look forward to returning again soon! Thank you for another wonderful experience!

    Returning after 3 years.

    I returned because my previous stay was excellent. I was soothed by the quiet and serene high-quality atmosphere. The food was delicious; while the teppanyaki from last time was great, I also thoroughly enjoyed the Japanese cuisine this time. The paired drinks were also delightful. It was a bit disappointing that the nightwear wasn't separate top and bottom, but the staff were very pleasant, and I would love to come back again.

    Lack of hospitality

    During the cherry blossom season, it was crowded, and I booked one of the only two available rooms with a breakfast-only plan. Checked in at 16:30. I thought I could choose dinner at the accommodation, but to my surprise, they said it was fully booked and dinner was not possible. They should have provided a warning during the reservation process to encourage prior booking for dinner, but there was no such notice. When I asked where I could have a decent dinner instead, they suggested taking a taxi to somewhere near the station. Frustrated, I asked them to bring me a list of recommended restaurants. Later in my room, they provided materials that included places just 4-5 minutes away on foot—what's that about? It might be by-the-book service for them, but it didn’t meet my expectations for high-end hotel hospitality. There was no consideration or empathy shown towards guests who were in trouble. Perhaps this level of service is sufficient for inbound foreign tourists. However, my stay was saved by an excellent experience at "Fukuden," a shabu-shabu restaurant nearby—the manager and food were outstanding. The hotel itself had luxurious yet calm interiors; breakfast was great and overall comfortable—but the lack of service spirit left me disappointed.

    It was a dreamlike and wonderful experience.

    The location is far from tourist spots and only accessible by taxi, but it was absolutely worth it. The guest rooms, garden, and restaurant were beautiful, offering an unreal and relaxing atmosphere. I traveled with elderly family members (who do not eat beef), and I personally requested a vegetarian breakfast menu. After consulting via email in advance, the staff accommodated our needs perfectly, for which I am very grateful. However, one minor disappointment was that although Chinese-speaking staff were specially arranged for dinner and breakfast service, there were some issues such as forgotten requests (about three times) or delays in service during meal explanations. That said, the Facility itself was flawless, and the souvenirs at the shop were incredibly delicious.

    Stay for Couples

    This time, I used Nara Fufu upon the recommendation of the staff at Atami Fufu. As expected, the Room and staff service were excellent. However, the only concern was the walking distance with slopes to and from the restaurant and Room for each meal. Additionally, while dining at a table overlooking the courtyard, it was disappointing that there were bars on the outside of the window, which made it feel like eating in a prison.

    I want to visit again.

    It was my first stay. I was able to enjoy a very quiet and relaxing time away from the hustle and bustle of Nara's tourist spots. The meals were very delicious, and the portions were just right for us. The staff were very pleasant, and we enjoyed having delightful conversations with them. It has become a place I definitely want to visit again.

    Refresh Your Soul

    Traveled with my grandchild, and we were both impressed by the size of the open-air bath in the Room. Amenities were delivered contactlessly upon request, allowing us to relax at our own pace. The contents of the refrigerator were thoughtfully prepared, showing great attention to detail. Although the dining area was a bit far, they offered Shuttle Service on rainy days and even checked in with us after dinner. Since the weather was nice, we decided to walk back through the garden instead. Their meticulous care made for a very comfortable stay. I would love to visit again!

    A truly wonderful accommodation. Upon arrival, I saw a staff member running from the lobby to greet us. Their dedication to not keeping guests waiting and their hospitality were evident from the start. The staff at check-in, the dining area, and check-out all provided exceptional service. The meals were incredibly delicious and left a lasting impression. The room was clean, with excellent facilities, amenities, and even thoughtful services in the refrigerator. Since accommodations with private open-air baths are used multiple times during a stay, having bathrobes available was greatly appreciated. If I had one suggestion, it would be to have a place to hang the bathrobes for added convenience. I usually don’t purchase shampoo from accommodations, but I loved it so much that I bought some to take home. Being knowledgeable about ingredients due to my profession, I was impressed by how gentle it was on the skin and its quality compared to common commercial products claiming damage repair—it even surpassed certain well-known beauty brands. It’s been a while since I've stayed at an accommodation that deserves 100 points out of 100! I'm glad I found such a satisfying place again after so long. I'd love to visit other "Fufu" locations across different prefectures and will definitely return to Fufu Nara when looking for a relaxing getaway nearby.     Recommended for those who don't have time to search for a luxury Hotel.

    I chose to stay as I had never experienced the Fufu brand before. This time, it was one night with breakfast only, no dinner included. As an IKYU Diamond member, I stay at dozens of Ryokans and Accommodations annually. ● Facility For this price range, the facilities are somewhat expected. The interior felt slightly cheap with many wood-grain wallpapers instead of actual wood. However, the lighting design added a sense of luxury. The lighting switches were intuitive and stood out as particularly good. ● Hospitality Direct calls do not connect; they go through an operation center managed by the company headquarters. While this may be efficient from a management perspective, for those seeking extraordinary hospitality and personalized service during their stay, it feels standardized and impersonal. Post check-in interactions were likely handled by foreign staff hired centrally by the company; their speech was sometimes unclear but polite in manner. Other points of concern: ● No Shuttle Service or irregular hospitality like early check-in accommodations provided. ● In-room guides focused mainly on promotional content rather than service explanations. ● The room service gelato (persimmon flavor) tasted bland—possibly just fruit and sugar? My husband tried mixing it to enhance its flavor but to no avail; we wondered if the chef had even taste-tested it before approval. ● Limited free drink options. ● Even morning wake-up drinks came at an additional cost. ● Breakfast was tasty but unmemorable overall. ● Small dishes for two were served together on one tray, making it inconvenient to identify individual portions. ● A male international staff member serving rice during breakfast had visibly hairy hands (a physical trait that is understandable but visually off-putting). At this price point, excellent facilities are expected; however, there are many Hotels or Accommodations offering superior hospitality and soft services that leave lasting impressions. Having been in Kyoto prior to this visit made me regret traveling all the way to Nara for this experience. While promotional efforts are impressive (I ended up purchasing items), I left via self-paid taxi upon checkout feeling only disappointed by how rationalized and efficient operations seemed—there was no emotional impact or inspiration gained from my stay. Although I once considered visiting Kaihouro Atami in future trips under this company's management portfolio after such an experience here—I am unlikely now ever choosing their properties again!

    Despite the chilly weather, we had a comfortable stay throughout the facility, including the Room, bath, and restaurant. The staff's service was as excellent as rumored. The meals were satisfying with locally sourced ingredients and creative menus. However, we felt the dessert was slightly lacking. We look forward to visiting again.

    I had another comfortable stay and felt refreshed. The Japanese cuisine was particularly delicious every time, exceeding my expectations. The foreign staff's service was also of a high standard, and I thought they were well-trained. The staff who attended to us during dinner were very kind and attentive, providing the meal at a pace that suited us—thank you for that. *I also appreciated being able to change or add grilled dishes. I'd like to add more, but I'm already full.*

    It was great after all!

    This is my second time using this service. It was great again. The room was clean, and my mother, who has difficulty walking, could enjoy the open-air bath in the room multiple times and feel elegant. The meals were elaborate and delicious. The boar hot pot was especially incredibly delicious, and the milk ice cream dessert had a unique taste. However, I paid 8,000 yen to change the grilled dish to spiny lobster, but it was slightly cold and just average. The basic meat dish had more tender meat and a tastier sauce. The girl in charge was smiling and cute; I want to learn from her example too. I will definitely use this service again.
