    I visited with my mother and second son.

    It was excellent. Room service for meals was very helpful for my mother with leg issues, and the food was delicious. We enjoyed our first visit to Kusatsu. We would love to visit again.

    Good accommodation, but slightly disappointing.

    First trip to Kusatsu for a one-night stay. Stayed in a room with an open-air bath at Unshouan. Overall satisfaction is 4 out of 5. Below are the positive and negative points: **Positive Points** - Only a 3-minute walk to Yubatake, with nearby shops for street food and a convenience store, making it an excellent location. - The onsen is truly amazing with excellent water quality. Being able to enjoy it in the room at any time was very satisfying. - All the meals were delicious, and the timing of when dishes were served was just right. **Negative Points** - We arrived earlier than the check-in time and contacted the accommodation to park our car, but despite it raining, there was no pick-up service provided, so we had to carry heavy luggage ourselves. - Although we stayed in a room with an open-air bath, there was a residential house visible from certain angles (not sure if this applies to all rooms). While it may be challenging unless located deep in the mountains, I believe proper measures should be taken since these are rooms advertised as having open-air baths.

    The new Room was excellent.

    The room, renovated last December, was very clean and highly satisfactory, including the bed, toilet, and amenities. Additionally, the guide from Nepal spoke fluent Japanese, which was impressive. However, one point of dissatisfaction is that while the sink area is spacious enough for two people to use simultaneously, there was only one mirror and faucet. In other high-end Ryokans, it accommodates two people at once. It’s disappointing that this wasn’t considered during the renovation.

    Disappointing for the price

    The accommodation is not inexpensive, but the most concerning issue was the hairdryer. The quality of the hairdryer was too poor, ruining the experience of enjoying the onsen. The room had two toilets, sinks, and bathrooms, but amenities were only provided in one of them. The meals were mediocre in taste, and they were served at a slow pace. It’s unclear why dining times are set at 6:00 PM and 6:30 PM. If serving speed is an issue, perhaps spacing out times like 6:00 PM and 7:30 PM would be better. Upon arrival, there was no staff outside to guide us, which made us feel uneasy. Since cars cannot be parked directly in front of the entrance, we had to carry our luggage from the parking lot ourselves. Is this what you get for paying ¥60,000 for two people? It makes me question what a four-star hotel really means...

    Decent accommodation.

    Thank you for allowing us to stay for one night. The staff at the accommodation were all very friendly and left a warm impression. In particular, the woman who served our meals in the morning and evening was very pleasant and provided excellent service. We stayed in a room with an indoor bath, but it turned out to be a view bath from the window rather than an open-air bath, which was slightly disappointing (this might have been due to our lack of confirmation). The room was spacious and extremely clean. Additionally, while we heard that it takes about 3 minutes to reach Yubatake, since the accommodation is located uphill, although it may be close distance-wise, the steep slope made it challenging for us, so we only went there once during our stay. Another disappointment was that there was no pick-up or drop-off service upon arrival or departure. When we arrived, we had to carry our luggage up the hill from the parking lot into the accommodation before being greeted by staff inside.

    A wonderful accommodation to enjoy multiple Onsens in Kusatsu

    The slope leading to the accommodation was a bit steep, but there is a shuttle service available, so it’s manageable. However, be prepared if you plan to go into town! The room was clean, the service was kind, and they provided umbrellas for free on rainy days. Meals were served in the room, allowing for a relaxing experience, and the food was delicious. Above all, the onsen was fantastic. By checking the timing of gender-swapped access, I could enjoy both sides. Thanks to this accommodation, I had an enjoyable trip to Kusatsu Onsen!

    Highly satisfied.

    It was a great experience staying at Bouun. The positive points are: - Only a 2-minute walk to Yubatake. - Parking is available on the premises. - Excellent customer service. - The ryokan, room, onsen, and facilities were clean and well-maintained. - High-quality and delicious meals. - Even after checkout, parking is allowed until early afternoon. Some concerns: - There is a slope to navigate. - The shabu-shabu sauce felt overshadowed by the quality of the meat. - Staying in the annex may require using two elevators. Despite these minor concerns, I feel this ryokan is highly recommendable to friends. I would love to stay here again when visiting Kusatsu!

    Highly satisfied.

    We stayed as a group of four, including my parents in their 80s and my sister. The location of the room was thoughtfully arranged, the onsen was excellent, and the meals were incredibly delicious. Since Kusatsu's hot springs are known to be very hot, we were prepared for the possibility that we might not be able to enjoy them. However, we were pleasantly surprised to find that even the indoor baths were comfortable and enjoyable. All the meals were delicious with just the right portions. The rice labeled as "premium" was exceptionally tasty—I wish I had asked what type of rice it was! The accommodation is conveniently located about a 10-minute walk from Yubatake and Nishinokawara Open-Air Bath, which was one of our main destinations. We would love to visit again in the future. Thank you very much!

    Satisfied with the excellent hot spring quality.

    The bath facilities are excellent. However, it was disappointing that when the room felt hot (possibly due to ineffective air conditioning), we were advised to open the window, but doing so let in strong winds and made it cold, leaving no choice but to endure.

    Hospitality beyond expectations. Very satisfied.

    I chose this accommodation for my first visit to Kusatsu Onsen, and it was a great choice. Everything was excellent—the staff's attentiveness, the quality and quantity of the meals, the guest room, the indoor onsen bath, and the parking lot. My only wish is that since I’m not good with hot baths, it would have been even better if there were a water faucet attached to adjust the temperature of the indoor bath. That said, I managed by pulling over the shower and adding water from the showerhead, so it was fine. This has become one of the accommodations I want to visit again.

    Do not expect too much.

    Arrived before 2 PM, but there was no one to greet us. Even the staff at the shop near the entrance didn’t notice us. Well, I guess that’s how it is. We were shown to our room, which was quite far and involved unnecessary stairs. However, there was an elevator installed for elderly guests. The heater made strange noises and couldn’t be used, leaving the room a bit cold. A fan heater was suggested but placed dangerously close to the pillow, so we decided not to use it. The shower in the open-air bath attached to our room took a long time to produce hot water, making it difficult in the cold weather. The light switch for the outdoor bath was hard to find; some explanation would have saved us from searching desperately. Dinner was served in-room with generous portions—neither outstanding nor disappointing. However, tea preparation wasn’t provided during dinner; we had only tea bags already available in the room, which felt somewhat lacking. Breakfast was served at a designated dining area with private rooms for each group. The tables were spacious and comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast included two hot pots each time—impressive for such a large ryokan as they ensured warm dishes were served properly. Since dinner is served in-room, there remained a lingering sweet smell of soy sauce and sugar throughout the night that made it hard to sleep comfortably. Proper ventilation of rooms might be necessary. The room itself was spacious and comfortable; visiting during another season might offer an even better experience. Located close to Yubatake (hot spring field), this accommodation is ideal for strolling around town. The baths were not crowded at all—we hardly encountered other guests while using them—and having plenty of face towels available added convenience!

    Thank you for your patronage.

    For elderly guests, the slope might be steep, so arranging a pick-up service is recommended. The front desk staff were all kind and made the stay very pleasant. Although there were minor issues like not receiving rice refills or explanations about the breakfast location, it seemed understandable as everyone appeared busy. However, the atmosphere was great, and the Onsen experience was satisfying. I would love to visit again. By the way, there were no cotton pads provided.

    The open-air bath in the Room was excellent.

    I booked this accommodation to enjoy the open-air bath while admiring the snowy scenery. The snow was just right, not too much and not too cold, making it perfect. Walking through the snow to reach the open-air bath in the cold would have been too harsh, so I relaxed in my room, enjoying the view of the garden with a light layer of snow. After check-out, I was very grateful that my husband was allowed to stay in the lobby to work. On top of that, we were even given a ride to the bus terminal—everything was truly exceptional. Thank you very much!

    The food is delicious.

    A highly hospitable accommodation featuring two types of hot springs, displays of flowers and hina dolls, and tea service in the lounge. The staff provided attentive yet unobtrusive service, which was very pleasant. The meals, both breakfast and dinner, were absolutely exquisite. Among all the accommodations I have visited so far, the cuisine here left a particularly memorable impression. I would love to visit again if given the opportunity. Thank you very much!

    It was wonderful.

    As expected of Kusatsu Onsen, the water quality is exceptional. The charming large public bath and open-air bath truly let you experience the essence of Onsen. The newly built room was outstanding in every aspect—design, bedroom, and private bath. However, what truly made it feel first-class was the people. The warm hospitality from the staff and the proprietress was unforgettable! Thank you for creating such wonderful travel memories.

    The Room, bath, meals, and service were all soothing.

    The staff at the Ryokan were always polite and provided a sense of security. The meals were excellent in both quantity and balance, and the three different baths each had their own unique charm, allowing for a relaxing soak. The location is great as it’s close to Yubatake, but if I had to mention one downside, it would be the steep slope leading up to the Ryokan.

    Value for money!

    We stayed in a newly renovated large Room for two adults. The Room was spotless, as if it were brand new and unused. Although the meals were not served in the Room, they were prepared exclusively in a spacious area, making it very comfortable, and the meal quality was highly satisfying. Considering just the Room and meals alone, it was incredibly affordable. Truly glad we went!

    Although the building is old, the service is excellent.

    We stayed as two women. The building is old, so the bath was very cold when we visited in the middle of winter. However, I was very impressed with the bath that made use of the hot spring source. There were many and we enjoyed them. We bathed both in the morning and at night. The room overall is not newly built like a new hotel, so it doesn't have that warm feeling, but it was well-maintained and clean. Fresh flowers and seasonal decorations (this time a large hina doll display) added charm and were lovely. Personally, I think it would be even better if there were more detailed care such as air purifiers. However, considering the price, it was a very satisfying property to stay at. The meals were plentiful and had a Japanese style to them; we felt the hospitality of a ryokan. In my personal opinion, it's not suitable for new couples or recent anniversaries but I'd like to use it with family instead. The spacious area and fluffy futons make me want to visit again.

    The cleanliness was ...

    The cleanliness was so impressive that it was hard to believe it was established in the 4th year of Keicho. The service of picking us up at the Kusatsu Onsen Bus Terminal with just one phone call was also delightful. In terms of location, it was about a 5-minute walk from Yubatake, making it an excellent spot for visiting Yubatake at night. Regarding the room, we could enjoy Kusatsu's magical snowy scenery through large windows, and meals were served in the room with warm dishes being warm and cold ones being cold, all deliciously distinct. One point regarding breakfast: we had it in the dining area, but the room was a bit chilly after bathing in Onsen in the morning, which caused slight discomfort due to cooling down. As for the bath, there is an elegant open-air bath that retains its traditional appearance while offering a soothing experience amidst snowy landscapes. The staff members were all very courteous and attentive; thank you very much indeed. We had a wonderful time and would love to visit again.

    Onsen is wonderful.

    We had a pleasant and comfortable stay in the newly renovated Room. However, being on the 1st floor, the view was not great, and we were slightly concerned about being visible from other Rooms, so we kept the sliding doors closed. The Onsen, both the large public bath and the private open-air bath in the Room, were absolutely fantastic! Perhaps due to being in Kusatsu, the water quality felt a bit strong... Cream is a must after bathing. (Haha) The food was delicious, but it might lack a distinctive feature. Also, the dinner and breakfast venues were different, but the breakfast venue was more charming, and we wished we could have had dinner there as well. All the staff members were warm and welcoming.

    I was satisfied.

    I visited for the first time in several years, and the building and onsen building were renovated and beautiful. I enjoyed two types of onsen. The meals were delicious and just the right amount, but my wife left a little too much. Sorry. Unfortunately, the person who guided us inside the property after check-in was a foreigner, so we couldn't have a casual conversation or talk about the previous stays. It's like this at any property nowadays... Thank you for your hospitality.

    Family trip with parents

    We visited Bouun for the first time with my parents, making a group of four. The distance to Nishinokawara Park and Yubatake was just right, making it easy to walk. The room, food, and Onsen were all very good, and the service was excellent. When we woke up in the morning, our car was covered in snow, but they cleared it for us before departure, making it a very pleasant trip. We would definitely like to visit again.

    Very satisfied.

    Despite the busy New Year period, the Stays was very attentive. The meals were neither too much nor too little, and they were beautiful and delicious. We were very satisfied. Of course, the Onsen was also excellent. What slightly bothered us was the noise from the Room's ventilation fan. When we turned off the TV, the sound of the fan stood out, making it difficult to fall asleep. Since the Onsen has a high sulfur content, it is probably unavoidable to expel the air.

    This is my third time using it.

    This time, we used a Japanese-Western style room. Although it is a bit inconvenient to put on slippers as the living room and bedroom are separate, it was nice to have a spacious living area. There are also two toilets, so I recommend this room for groups of 4 to 5 people. As always, the Onsen, service, and meals were wonderful. A sauna has also been newly installed, and it seems that rooms with new Onsen will be added soon, so I'm looking forward to it. I will visit again. Thank you once again.

    The Onsen is very good.

    You can enjoy two types of Onsen: Bandai Gensen and Nishi no Kawara Gensen. It was great to compare the qualities of the springs.

    Good value for money

    We chose this property for a trip with my parents and my wife's parents. We were completely satisfied with the meals, service, and onsen. We prioritized meals and baths, and everything was well-balanced. The breakfast was also delicious and not skimped on. This is an excellent property with great value for money, no doubt about it. It is a property that has received awards from various travel sites. I was able to show appreciation to my parents.
