Does not seem like a four-star hotel - consider others first.

I stay at hotels over 50 times a year, with about 30 of those being at resort hotels. I visit Okinawa every year and after staying several times at hotels around Onna Village, my family has been choosing Monterey for nearly ten years. However, since the early days of COVID-19, the atmosphere has changed. When checking in with foreign staff, I couldn't understand their explanation and had to ask twice (they responded by saying "it's written on paper"). Also, although we had a room in the premium lounge area, there was a loud clicking noise from the door near the air conditioning room; this was promptly addressed by changing our room. The premium lounge here is completely different from executive floors at other hotels. You only receive free vouchers usable in the downstairs tea room or various service coupons as perks. It's better to know this before your stay. Additionally, there are many inbound guests and young families making the public bath chaotic. They spread their clothes messily on chairs meant for resting in the changing area so others can't sit down. After they use it, you'll find broken cotton swabs used up everywhere on sinks along with packaging plastic bags and scattered hair strands; cosmetics provided on sinks are knocked over and scattered too; floors are sticky with water and hair all over them. In other properties employees frequently clean these areas but during my less than an hour-long bath time here at Monterey I didn't see anyone come by even once - such poor management unbecoming of a hotel! It felt worse than public baths elsewhere forcing me into cleaning myself before grooming afterward while multiple children ran around screaming loudly causing nausea due to dirtiness noise low usage morals which is why normally using executive floors avoiding commotion altogether would be ideal if only setting specific hours exclusively available just premium lounge users could help improve things since paying extra means buying quality space ambiance hence needing consideration towards that aspect. Recently targeting seems focused solely upon inbound guests younger family demographics leading realization perhaps time graduating from Monterey Okinawa soon enough painfully clear now especially when first shown phone inside initial assigned Room covered pen scribbles toilet floor uncleaned stains left behind easily removable alcohol wipes yet no post-cleaning checks done whatsoever? As seen mentioned elsewhere reviews lowering standards securing reservation slots appears priority not criticizing merely observing business strategy remains choice ultimately though hopefully providing useful insight planning precious holiday spent enjoying beautiful Okinawa!

    Family Stays

We have been staying with family at this time of year for several years. Whenever we go, both the Facility and Room are clean, the food is delicious, there is a pool, an Onsen, and the shop is well-stocked, making it very comfortable to stay entirely within the Hotel. We always enjoy ourselves without stepping out of the Hotel. The staff is also very kind. I wish the lounge hours could be extended a bit so we could use it after dinner. I look forward to staying again!

A fulfilling stay utilizing the benefits of Diamond membership.

〇Due to the location, the price was relatively high (around 25,000 yen with breakfast), but compared to other properties, the benefits for Diamond members were relatively substantial, offering a slight sense of value. 〇I made a separate reservation for dinner (Japanese cuisine), and while the taste was good, it was somewhat lacking in the local Okinawan style. 〇There are many trees around the western coastline, making it inferior in terms of scenery compared to the neighboring Moon Beach, and it is not suitable for landscape photography.

    Three generations!

I visit Okinawa twice a year for vacation, and this is my first stay at Monterey in four years. The deciding factors this time were that my son and his wife, who are accompanying us for the first time, wanted to visit a folk music izakaya, and my grandchild wanted to play in the pool, so we chose Monterey, which is on the beach. In the past, we only stayed in the Ocean Bath Room here, so the size and layout were different, but the weather was nice, and my son and his wife were delighted with the view from the Room. Although it wasn't a connecting room, we were next to each other and enjoyed chatting on the terrace. The pool, although heated, felt somewhat cold, but my grandchild was very happy and played until the very end. The outdoor jacuzzi was too cold, and it was disappointing that the sea view was not as expected. However, there was a warm Room like a sauna for adults, so when we got cold playing with our grandchild, we took turns warming up. I didn't use the large public bath, but I heard it was good even though it wasn't spacious. Being able to use the pool even in winter would have been more convenient if there were pool bags prepared in the Room. I wasn't sure about the kids' space hours, but when we visited before checking out, it was new and clean, and the ball pool was a big hit with my 3-year-old grandchild! My son and his wife seemed to have been able to pack and prepare for departure at their leisure, and seeing other dads with their kids there made me realize how important such spaces are for the Hotel. From in front of the kids' space, we could go straight to the beach, so we took our grandchild, who was visiting the seaside for the first time, and found the beach dirty, perhaps due to the season. However, finding hermit crabs and gazing at the vast ocean was a new experience for my grandchild! Overall, while the place feels a bit old, the calm atmosphere, location, and staff service were very satisfying, and the lounge cakes were delicious. What I would like to see improved is the breakfast. While many Hotels are enhancing their breakfast offerings, it felt like an old-fashioned breakfast buffet. There were few items, and nothing stood out as particularly delicious. The self-serve seafood bowl might have been a highlight, but seeing the container of crushed salmon roe made me lose interest in trying other items. Since enjoying food is a highlight of Okinawa trips, I believe breakfast is important! I hope to see improvements next time.

I splurged for the New Year holidays, but

For the first time, I took my mother on a 2-night, 3-day trip during the New Year holidays. Wanting to experience the New Year atmosphere, I reserved a dinner-included plan at a Japanese restaurant for both days. I expected something like New Year's dishes to be served, but to my surprise, the dinner menu was the same for both days (12/31, 1/1). The New Year's dishes were only available in limited quantities for breakfast on New Year's Day, and by the time we checked in, they were already gone. Despite having made the reservation quite some time ago, there was no prior notice, and even though we had reserved meals for two consecutive days, there was no consideration, which was very disappointing. When I saw the menu for the second day and asked for a change, they only changed one dish. Additionally, we used the club floor this time, but I was surprised that there was no club lounge. Although drinks were available for free at the café, food was charged, and we couldn't go to the café many times, which was also disappointing.

    Overall, I like it, but...

This is my sixth stay. I have always used this property due to its access from the airport, the wonderful view from the room, and the abundance of nearby restaurants. What I found quite disappointing this time was the breakfast buffet. The number of items has definitely decreased compared to before, and the menu hardly changes daily. I thought there used to be Okinawan dishes that changed daily, but I couldn't find any of those. The staff didn't notice that the coffee machine had stopped dispensing coffee, and I had to point it out. I was really looking forward to the breakfast, so it was disappointing. Also, I was surprised when the wait time for breakfast the morning after my stay was shown as 140 minutes on the smartphone reservation. It seemed to be resolved from the next day, but it must have been difficult for those who had planned sightseeing and other activities. One more thing, it was disappointing that the drip pod was no longer available in the room.

The Room is simple, spacious, and has a resort-like feel.

The room had ample space, including the bathroom facilities. The shower in the room, possibly a Refa, was very pleasant. However, the mechanical noise from the hallway was loud, and I didn't notice it when the TV was on. When I turned off the TV and it was quiet, the noise intermittently resonated through the room's walls or doors. I wondered if the noise could be directed outside instead of into the hallway. The next day, I was able to change rooms. Initially, I was offered a room next to the machine, which seemed the same, so I requested a room further away. It was quiet, and I slept soundly the next day. I wished I could use the extra spa voucher after checking out on the day of departure.

A disappointing Hotel, especially the restaurant

The "Resort Christmas" early Christmas dinner buffet had no Christmas elements at all. Moreover, I was surprised to see leftovers from the night buffet appear at breakfast the next day. That's just unacceptable. I stayed in a Premium Club Superior Room. The room layout is compact compared to other resorts, but it's designed for ease of use, especially the water facilities, which are excellent. It was nice to have the same Refa hairdryer as at home. I went to Blue Leaf because they said there was a natural Onsen, but it was just a small bath. Disappointing. The women's bath only had a steam sauna, no dry sauna, which was also disappointing. While I was in the bath, a Chinese woman came in and tried to get into the bath without washing, and I warned her, but she pretended not to understand Japanese or English. Feeling uncomfortable, I left immediately, and when I went to the locker, a (Korean) person came in with a soaking wet swimsuit, leaving the floor in a puddle, so I had to wipe it with a towel. I definitely don't want to go back. Inbound tourism might be good for the Hotel, but Japanese guests won't want to stay again if they have to endure such discomfort.

    I was very satisfied!

The pool was unavailable during the off-season, but we were very satisfied with the indoor pool, gym, and Onsen! The kids' room was spacious and clean, and the children were delighted. The shortcake at the café in the lobby was incredibly delicious. The wide selection of souvenirs was also a pleasing point. We definitely want to use it again!

    Wonderful Hotel

I stayed in a Room on the club floor, and the Room was spacious and very lovely. Opening the curtains revealed a stunning ocean view, which was truly impressive. Sitting on the balcony chair was also very pleasant. The amenities were well-stocked, and the fragrance was nice. The drinks provided on the club floor had an elegant feel, allowing me to relax leisurely. The hospitality of the staff was excellent at this Hotel. Thank you very much.

    Wonderful

There was not a single bad point, and it was a wonderful Hotel. The cleaning was thorough, the staff's response was very good, and the cost performance was amazing. I want to continue using this place in the future.

A vacation Hotel where you can enjoy the tropics right here.

[Room] There is a wardrobe at the front, and the toilet and bath are conveniently located together, making it difficult for hallway noise to reach the bed, which was great. While there are many ocean view hotels, the proximity to the beach makes the view exceptionally wonderful, giving a sense of the tropics. Since it was a Hollywood twin, my child and I used one bed, but it didn't feel cramped. I think it's a size that would satisfy a family of four unless the children are in middle school. By opening the blinds in the bathroom, you can see the ocean through the room, so those staying as a couple can leisurely enjoy the view bath. [Service] As soon as you enter the premises by car, there is someone to guide you, making it easy to understand and seemingly safe. Despite being during the busy summer vacation period, everyone interacted with us with a smile, and the welcome drink detox beverage was not the typical detox taste, making it easy to drink and pleasant. Also, because it was the summer vacation period, they held a stamp rally around the facilities within the property, including the chapel, beach, pool, and a small game center, so even without renting a car, the hotel itself offers enough space and facilities to fully enjoy the tropics. [Dining] We had a dessert set at the tea lounge on the 3rd floor. Although it was hotel-priced, it was delicious enough to match the price, and we enjoyed deciding on future plans while looking at the sea. At the buffet, I personally found the champuru quietly located next to the tempura corner to be very delicious for dinner. The pork shabu-shabu was also prepared with both ponzu and sesame, allowing us to enjoy it refreshingly with vegetables. The warabi mochi changed from brown sugar to matcha the next day, which was nice as it properly considered those on a multiple night stay. The desserts were made small and easy to eat, and above all, being able to eat Blue Seal's mango & vanilla at the buffet was full of Okinawan flavor and was great. [Others] I think the pool is very well-equipped. Adults can relax in the infinity pool, while for children, there is a small slide, a wave pool, and a pool that seems to be made of rubber!? It is shaped like a mountain with water coming out from below, which many children seem to like, and since the number of people is limited, it was safe and good.

    I use it every year.

I make a reservation every year, although the floor is different each time. I am satisfied with the good service, but this time the humidifier that is usually provided was not there. When I asked a foreign staff member at the front desk for a humidifier with specific features and shape, a completely different one was delivered. When I asked the front desk again, a Japanese staff member came out and finally understood. Since there are many foreign guests, I think it's good to have foreign staff at the front desk, but I felt that a little more training is needed. I hope it will improve next year.

Even though it was a Resort Hotel

I contacted the front desk because the clothesline in the bathroom was broken, and the staff member who came was terrible. They entered the bathroom with their shoes on and even stepped on the bath mat with their shoes, showing a complete lack of hygiene awareness. Additionally, the bathroom ventilation was poor, resulting in a very moldy smell that was quite unpleasant. On the other hand, the pool had plenty of areas for children to play, and the kids seemed to be having a great time, which was nice.
