    Annual trip to Okinawa

    I have visited Okinawa more than 20 times, and this time I had high expectations based on the reviews of Monterey, but it was comparable to or worse than Manza Beach Hotel. The large display of the non-smoking pledge at check-in and the non-smoking notices in the room were unpleasant. When calling the front desk, they usually respond with the guest's name, but there was no such response here. Additionally, the hotel's guide was a reduced B5 version that was hard to read, leaving a strong impression that customers are not prioritized. The breakfast lacked appeal considering its price, and the deluxe room did not live up to its name—particularly disappointing was the small toilet seat which made it inconvenient to use. This trip turned out to be one of my most disappointing experiences so far. The only positive aspect was that parking in an underground lot was convenient. I will never use this hotel again!

    Premium Club Floor Access

    I stayed in a Premium Club Floor Room and was very satisfied with the abundant benefits. The view from the room was oceanfront and absolutely stunning. I also used the lounge, where all the staff were very kind, allowing me to have a comfortable time. It was a Hotel that made me want to stay again.

    We stayed here for a...

    We stayed here for a family trip. The luxurious interior left all three of us in awe. Our son immediately jumped onto the bed and looked so comfortable. The ocean view from the room was stunning, and just sitting on the bed while gazing outside was incredibly relaxing. The breakfast buffet was convenient to book online, which we found very appealing! The menu had a wide variety, and we were very satisfied! We also tried the BBQ once, but the meat was tough and difficult to chew even for adults. As for the facility, we enjoyed using the pool. While the water temperature was slightly warm and could have been cooler, there were slides and trampolines that even our 3-year-old son could enjoy, which made us happy! Whenever we went out, the staff kindly provided shuttle service with a cart to the parking lot! They were very friendly with our son, which made us feel delighted. This is definitely a hotel we would love to stay at again when visiting Okinawa!

    It was my first stay...

    It was my first stay, and since the hotel is right in front of the sea, the view from the room was amazing. Due to my schedule and weather conditions, I couldn't enjoy the pool this time, but it was larger than I imagined with several types of pools that looked fun. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of options and was delicious. There is also a kids' room which is great for families with children, and the hotel's shop is spacious and well-stocked. The price is reasonable, so I would love to stay here again.

    Children loved the ball pool.

    We stayed for 4 nights on a family trip, with the first 2 nights in the Club Floor. Overall, we were satisfied, but we were disappointed with the customer service at the Onsen facility "Blue Leaf." In the changing room, it seemed that guests needed to exchange their shoe locker key for a changing room locker key. However, my husband misunderstood this system and ended up using a locker that happened to have its key left inside. A male staff member then reprimanded him harshly by saying, "Why are you holding two keys?" He confiscated both keys. Since valuables were in the locker, my husband had to chase after him and apologize to another guest while still undressed. We understand that it was our mistake for not following proper procedures. However, simply explaining and cautioning us about the situation would have sufficed. The lack of clear guidance at reception and unfortunate circumstances made us feel that a softer approach could have prevented this unpleasant experience. The reservation was made through an IKYU special offer day; however, I forgot to prepay and missed out on earning points. This slightly lowered our satisfaction with staying in the Club Floor. That said, our child loved the kids' room immensely. The beach activities and other services were excellent as well! We would love to stay here again when visiting Okinawa Main Island next time. Thank you very much!

    The Best Okinawa Trip

    An endless ocean view, a luxurious bath, and a wide variety of breakfast options (especially seafood and Okinawan cuisine) made for a fulfilling stay. For those planning to dine out near the hotel at night, please note that reservations are required in advance. (There are several restaurants offering dishes like Agu pork shabu-shabu and barbecue, but most are fully booked.)

    It was excellent.

    Stayed in September with 2 and 4-year-old children. We were very satisfied with our stay. The room was spacious, very clean, and having a separate bath and toilet was excellent. It was quiet without any noise from the hallway. We used the pool, and the kids loved both the wave pool and dome-shaped pool, leaving them very happy. It was reassuring to see attentive lifeguards at the dome-shaped pool as well. All staff members were friendly and kind throughout our stay. We enjoyed both the breakfast buffet and dinner buffet; staff at these meals were also kind and attentive. Dinner tasted better than breakfast in our opinion. Although the dinner buffet felt a bit pricey, it provided peace of mind for families with children, which we appreciated greatly. My husband even praised this accommodation as one of his top favorites among all we've stayed at so far. Not related to the hotel itself, but there was a bento shop in front of the hotel that offered affordable yet delicious meals—very memorable!

    The pool is fantastic! Overall, a bit pricey...

    This year’s Okinawa trip, we stayed for two nights at the highly-rated Monterey accommodation. Although I thought it was a bit pricey, I made the reservation because of its good reputation and the pool that seemed suitable for young children. The pool turned out to be very satisfying! We enjoyed it a lot. The slide was particularly appreciated as it was appropriately sized even for small children. Additionally, the craft experience held in the facility at night was very popular and created great memories as it was something even small kids could enjoy. We didn’t have time to try them, but there seemed to be various marine activities available that we would have liked to experience. The indoor kids' room was also very helpful and is recommended for families with children! However, regarding the room itself, I couldn’t help but feel disappointed... While the room was spacious with impressively high ceilings, there was an odd smell upon entering (not unbearable but strange). There were several stains on the carpet—stains that looked like they could be removed if cleaned properly—which felt unpleasant. Since children tend to walk around barefoot, cleanliness of floors is especially concerning for us. There were also noticeable dust in various places and hair stuck on the shower in the bathroom... Being somewhat particular about cleanliness—especially around water areas—it left me feeling uncomfortable. I understand cleaning rooms must be challenging given how large they are at Monterey accommodation and considering recent increases in inbound tourism possibly leading to more wear-and-tear on rooms; however, honestly speaking, this isn’t something guests should have to consider when paying relatively high accommodation fees—it left me quite dissatisfied. If prices were lower perhaps I wouldn’t feel this way. Compared with last year’s hotel or another facility we stayed at after Monterey (both significantly cheaper), those accommodations had better cleaning standards and equally enjoyable pools which made my disappointment greater… While there were many positive aspects about our stay here overall satisfaction relative to its price point remained low…

    Positive Points: - The accommodation is family-friendly, with a calm atmosphere that allows for a relaxed stay without being overly formal. - Exceptional hospitality. During our stay to celebrate our child's birthday, the staff prepared a surprise celebration, which deeply moved both the child and us as parents. - Beachfront location. Being able to visit the beach even on the morning of checkout is a unique advantage of this location. - Pool access available before check-in. - A wide range of activities for kids. We participated in kids' snorkeling and crafting experiences within the hotel premises, which was stress-free and convenient for families with young children. Snorkeling at an external tour often comes with concerns like changing clothes or finding restrooms, but having these facilities within the hotel provided peace of mind. - Flexible breakfast-to-lunch option and eco-friendly services such as opting out of room cleaning (with towel replacement) in exchange for coupons are highly considerate offerings. Points of Concern: - Laundry usage: While it’s convenient to check machine availability via TV, many washing machines and dryers were left idle after use for extended periods by other guests. Although this is primarily an issue of user etiquette, it felt disappointing that there was no intervention from the hotel regarding this "first come first served" situation. - Room view: Our room had a view that included a cemetery; however, it also offered stunning ocean views that outweighed any concerns for us personally. For those who might be sensitive about such views, it's recommended to confirm details during reservation.

    Although it's a wonderful Hotel...

    Stayed for 2 nights at the beautiful Resort Hotel Monterey with ocean views, a beach, and a pool—an excellent choice. This accommodation is perfect for families with children (most guests were families). Within walking distance, there are steak houses, BBQ restaurants, Okinawan izakayas, so you don’t necessarily need to rely on the hotel restaurant. Although it was right after the Obon holiday and still quite crowded, we managed to have breakfast at 7 AM both days by registering early at 6 AM via QR code and waiting in our room. Pre-registration is essential. Please note that the public bath and indoor pool require an additional fee; they are not free of charge. The hotel was truly wonderful; however, one disappointing aspect was the smell in the room... According to a bellboy’s explanation, this sometimes happens after international guests stay in certain rooms—a smell resembling body odor or mold hit us as soon as we entered. After consulting with staff, they kindly changed our room (thank you!), but while it improved slightly, there was still an odor lingering... Having only experienced good-smelling hotels before this stay made us wonder why this happened—we even speculated if it could be from the air conditioning system? Adjusting temperature settings or switching between dehumidifying and cooling modes didn’t help either. Every time we entered our room afterward became an opportunity to spray air freshener provided by the accommodation (we even turned spraying into a fun little game!). It really is such a great hotel! Initially thought we'd definitely return—but concerns about encountering another smelly room left lingering doubts until checkout…

    There are various pools, and the service was attentive, making it a very enjoyable experience. While not an issue with the Hotel, the beach had quite a few stones and shells, which made it slightly uncomfortable to walk barefoot. Additionally, although lounge access was allowed, having to place an order was a bit disappointing. However, the children seemed to have a great time. Thank you very much!

    Everything was perfect and unforgettable!

    We visited Okinawa for a celebratory trip. While we were initially unsure about which Hotel to choose, staying at this Hotel turned out to be an excellent decision. We made our Reservation through the Premium Club and stayed in a room on the 12th top floor. The room was clean, spacious enough for four people without feeling cramped, and offered a stunning view, making it a truly memorable celebratory trip. The staff's attentiveness was exceptional, and the breakfast buffet had a wide variety of delicious options. However, due to the crowd, there was an hour-long wait which made our checkout day feel rushed. A male staff member at the breakfast buffet reception welcomed us with a wonderful smile that brightened our morning. It was such a pleasant start to the day. We look forward to staying here again on our next visit to Okinawa!

    Perfect Hotel for Families with Children

    We stayed here for a family trip in summer, and it was absolutely amazing. The service and facilities are on par with international hotels, thoughtfully designed from the guest's perspective. For instance, breakfast can be swapped for lunch—a very convenient option as we left early for marine activities and couldn’t have breakfast at the hotel. In the room, there were welcome drinks like Orion Beer and Sanpin Tea, which was a delightful touch. The amenities were also well-prepared. The facilities include an attached Tiger Beach, outdoor pool, indoor pool—perfect even on rainy days—and a natural onsen public bath that’s great for relaxing after playing in the sea. There are plenty of workshops and events like Shisa painting to keep children entertained. In summer, fireworks add to the fun! This hotel is ideal for families with young children and will create unforgettable memories. The hotel staff were all kind and provided excellent service. Some foreign staff members spoke native-level Japanese; one even kindly asked if they could take our trash away—very satisfying hospitality overall. As for concerns about foreign guests' manners mentioned in other reviews: fortunately, there didn’t seem to be many foreign guests during our stay (about 20% by my estimate), and their behavior wasn’t problematic at all. Although I read some reviews mentioning bedbugs before our visit, we had no issues in our room during our stay—it seems they manage pest control regularly. We stayed on the Club Floor this time, which offered enhanced services that made our stay very comfortable: unlimited access to the public bathhouse; free use of a tea lounge (with alcoholic beverages available alongside various tea options); complimentary parasol use at the beach; coupon vouchers; access to an indoor parking lot—all these small perks added up nicely! Choosing the Club Floor was definitely worth it. Overall, compared to other Okinawa resort hotels, I think this one is reasonably priced (of course there are more expensive options if you’re willing to pay). Hotel Monterey offers great balance—it’s still new and beautifully maintained. I would absolutely choose Hotel Monterey Okinawa again when visiting Okinawa!

    The hotel is very large and horizontally long, with three elevators, but some floors are not accessible by certain elevators, making it confusing. By the time you get used to it, it's already time to check out. The all-ocean-view feature is nice, but the horizontal layout makes walking distances excessively long and tiring. The food is delicious. Customer service varies greatly; some staff are friendly while others are unapproachable. The bed had an odor reminiscent of body odor from foreign guests. Soundproofing is excellent. The souvenir shop was well-stocked and enjoyable. Regarding the indoor pool and onsen, there was no mention on the reservation site about additional charges for their use. Even at check-in, when we were encouraged to enjoy the onsen facilities, no explanation about extra fees was provided. Upon visiting them, we were charged 1,500 yen per person per day. There was no indoor pool for children; only outdoor pools were available for kids but were suitable for preschool-aged children.

    A Hotel That Wastes Your Precious Time

    4-night, 5-day solo trip for a birthday celebration Before making the Reservation, I checked SNS multiple times and confirmed the type of Room with good views and easy beach access by calling the Hotel. At check-in at the concierge desk, although I had already researched and made Reservations around the Hotel, they meticulously reviewed my entire itinerary, which took a considerable amount of time. The assigned Room had a strong odor that made it impossible to sleep on the first night. The next morning, I requested a change but ended up with a Room different from my initial preference. On the second day, as it was the only evening without dinner Reservations, staff took me to the restaurant Reservation counter where they spent over an hour making calls to arrange dinner. However, despite this effort, no dinner was served at any restaurant that night. This led to further distress and another sleepless night. The coin laundry dryers were often left unattended after stopping; even though their status could be checked on TV screens in Rooms, most remained occupied for long periods without intervention from Hotel staff. During my stay at Club facilities offering beach umbrellas and chairs as per their description: On Day 1: After completing procedures once (as informed before making Reservations), I expected no further steps until checkout. However: - On Day 2: Despite lining up early before opening hours of Marine services—receiving clothespins marked "in use"—I set up umbrella/chair myself but found them taken upon returning briefly after some sea activities due lack identification system like names/numbers attached onto items provided by management team overseeing operations thereon-site supervision missing entirely leading confusion among guests sharing same resources simultaneously under similar circumstances repeatedly throughout duration extended stays alike others experiencing identical issues unresolved ongoing basis affecting overall satisfaction levels negatively impacting enjoyment factor significantly diminished overall experience detrimentally affected adversely beyond expectations initially anticipated     Stayed with kids.

    Stayed with kids. Used for the second consecutive year. The garden pool and beach access are absolutely fantastic. The pool has a slider, which made the kids super excited. The Facility is clean, and there are plenty of kid-friendly events like exciting exploration activities. Breakfast includes Blue Seal ice cream, which is great for kids; however, the taste is average for adults. It would be nice to have Okinawa soba available. This time, an alarm from a neighboring room kept ringing early in the morning—please check clocks in vacant rooms if possible. There’s a convenience store/souvenir shop on-site, so you can enjoy your stay without leaving the Hotel. Combining Club Floor benefits with IKYU Diamond benefits makes everything more convenient!

    Would love to stay again!

    The facility was overall clean, and there were no noticeable signs of age or dirt. The outdoor unit on the balcony was also hidden, showing thoughtful consideration. The porters, reception staff, parking attendants, and the gentleman driving the cart all provided exceptionally kind and pleasant service to both adults and children. The Blue Leaf bath is an Onsen; however (understandable for a Resort Hotel), it lacked an open-air bath, which disappointed my child. Additionally, I enjoy relaxing in the early morning while my child sleeps, but it wasn’t open during that time. These factors influenced my rating. I wasn’t sure if childcare services were available (I didn’t inquire due to scheduling constraints), but it seemed they weren’t offered. If they had been available, I would have considered using the spa services. For this reason as well, I gave a 4-star rating. The children spent most of their time playing in the outdoor pool and kids' room.

    A good Hotel, but improvements are needed for the VIP experience.

    The staff service was very attentive, with dedicated assistance to carry luggage to the room. The facilities were diverse, and the room was spacious and comfortable. However, during my stay on the VIP floor, I found the VIP benefits somewhat lacking. Regarding lounge services, only drinks were provided without any food options, which was disappointing. Additionally, the lounge shared its space with other guests enjoying paid afternoon tea, giving an impression that VIP guests were consuming for free. Furthermore, there seemed to be a shortage of staff as it took nearly 15 minutes to be attended after being seated. If staffing issues persist, introducing a self-service system might be worth considering. This hotel also has a JTA members-only lounge whose services appeared more comprehensive than those offered as VIP benefits. For JTA members staying in standard rooms and utilizing member services might provide greater satisfaction. Ultimately, the VIP benefits included only a top-floor room, regular lounge drinks (not in an exclusive space), and a ¥1,500 Blue Leaf voucher. Overall, I had a comfortable stay but hope for further enhancements to the VIP benefits in the future.

    Excellent location!

    Tiger Beach is right in front, so the view from the Room is, of course, great, and it's also very close to the beach from the Room—absolutely perfect! The dinner buffet had a take-out option for the Room, which was convenient as I can't eat large portions. It was cost-effective and enjoyable to use.

    Friendly service and a comfortable Hotel.

    The staff consistently greeted and served with a smile, making my 3-night stay very pleasant. On several occasions, whether near the front desk or in the restaurant, staff noticed my gaze and proactively approached me, showcasing their high level of hospitality. Even with just a few interactions, I felt that choosing a Multiple Night Stay was worthwhile and would love to return again.

    A family-friendly, luxurious Resort Hotel

    We stayed with our small child and had a wonderful experience. The shamisen performance during dinner was mesmerizing with its Okinawan melodies and singing. Although we had one rainy day during our stay, the indoor pool and playroom were well-equipped, allowing us to enjoy a fulfilling day despite the weather. The BBQ overlooking Tiger Beach was also incredibly refreshing and enjoyable. The staff were very accommodating in handling situations unique to traveling with children, making our stay worry-free. We look forward to visiting again during a season when we can enjoy the outdoor pool (this time we stayed in early April). Thank you for an excellent hotel stay!

    It was a wonderful Hotel.

    It was our first trip to Okinawa with kids, and choosing this Hotel was absolutely the right decision. The staff's service was excellent, especially the male staff at the entrance of the morning venue who greeted us with a wonderful smile that energized us for the day! The Room we stayed in was standard, but not only did it offer a stunning view, its chic interior design made it very charming. The bathroom in our Room was incredibly spacious and allowed us to relax completely. We stayed for three nights, and the breakfast buffet was delicious—personally, I really enjoyed Miki. I appreciated that the menu changed between the first and second days. The pool was clean, and my child had so much fun there. Since it was still a bit chilly during our stay, we plan to visit again during warmer weather to fully enjoy the pool experience. Thank you for giving us such wonderful memories!

    This is my favorite Hotel recently.

    This accommodation is one of my favorites, as I’ve stayed here three times in a row when visiting Okinawa Main Island. It’s very kid-friendly with facilities like a children’s pool, kids' space, and large public bath, along with a wide range of rental items such as strollers. The interior is very clean and has a luxurious feel without being overly extravagant, making it comfortable for families with children to stay without feeling out of place. Additionally, while many other luxury hotels only serve alcohol during cocktail hours in their lounges, staying on the Premium Club Floor here allows you to enjoy alcohol anytime from morning to night at the tea lounge—a great perk! There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, so even with small children, going out for dinner wasn’t troublesome. The staff members are all incredibly kind and attentive. I would love to stay here again!

    A comfortable 2-night stay.

    This was our second stay since September 2020. This time, we chose to stay at Monterey Okinawa to celebrate my daughter's new job and fulfill her wish to enjoy the beautiful ocean right in front of us and the large public bath. We opted for the Premium Club, which included access to Blue Reef with its large public bath, as well as parasol and chair rentals on the beach—making it a great value. What surprised me was that during check-in, they mentioned our previous stay nearly five years ago. While not extraordinary, it made me feel an unexpected sense of familiarity. On the first night of our two-night stay, we followed my daughter's suggestion and dined at one of the izakayas located along the street just outside the hotel—a convenient option within walking distance that adds to Monterey's appeal. For our second night, we reserved in advance for Plumeria Course with free-flow drinks at Escale French restaurant inside the hotel. Despite being very reasonably priced for a free-flow plan, every dish was excellent in taste and both my daughter and wife were satisfied. The sparkling wine and other wines paired perfectly with our meal. Breakfast can often be stressful due to crowds at any hotel; however, here you can check congestion status from your room and even join a virtual queue via smartphone—an innovation that greatly reduces waiting stress. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of options that left us fully satisfied (and perhaps overindulged). I also learned for the first time this trip that swimming is allowed from April onwards here! Although water temperatures were still low, thanks to good weather my daughter could enjoy swimming as she wished while I refrained from joining her. My wife and daughter also had fun riding on a dragon boat. We visit Okinawa or Ishigaki Island annually but usually during peak summer months; this trip made us realize how pleasant this season is—not too hot yet perfect for sightseeing. Monterey Okinawa met all our needs perfectly during this balanced stay—we would love another opportunity to return!

    Honestly disappointing.

    Satisfaction was not high. Here is a summary: - The quality of amenities was poor. - As part of the Premier Club, I used the large public bath, but it was not clean and felt unpleasant. - The Room's bathroom also had red mold. - Having used it at home before, I noticed that even the inside of the Mirable showerhead had red mold and was unhygienic. - The lounge drinks were not very tasty. - There was no send-off service, and my suitcase wasn't carried for me.

    Amenities ranging from bath additives to face packs, high-quality slippers, free flip-flops, and complimentary drinks in the refrigerator are well-provided. Including its beachfront location and spacious rooms, it rivals nearby luxury Hotels.

    The French cuisine was excellent.

    On the first day, we had French cuisine for dinner. It was very good. It was 20% off on IKYU, so the cost performance was excellent and I highly recommend it! The taste was also great. However, the buffet dinner on the second day was very disappointing. Even though it was more expensive than the breakfast buffet! On the first night, our Room seemed to be right below a group of students on a school trip, and it was noisy with footsteps until late at night, making it hard to sleep. After consulting with the front desk and possibly having them address it, it was quiet on the second day. I am grateful to the lady at the front desk. Overall, it's a good Hotel.
