    Sakuratei Suite Stay

    The best part was the delicious food. Overall, the quality was very high. Our child was delighted with the macarons. The large public bath was spacious and very nice. The downside was the service at the buffet venue. The organization was poor. At other Hotels or Ryokans, staying in a suite usually comes with a private room or priority access, but there was nothing like that here. The Room was neither particularly good nor bad, but there were not enough towels.

    We’d love to stay here again.

    We stayed at the annex “Koshifukitei.” The Room was impeccably clean and beyond reproach. Both the Onsen in the large public bath and the private open-air bath had wonderfully soft water, and we found ourselves wanting to soak forever. Every dish was superb, reflecting the head chef’s careful selection of ingredients, seasoning, and thoughtful pairing with the tableware. Everything was truly delicious. Throughout our stay, the staff in charge of each moment greeted us with warm smiles and exceptionally high-level service, allowing us to enjoy a blissful time.

    The whole family thoroughly enjoyed the buffet we love.

    This was our fifth stay at Grandia, and this time we stayed in the Sakuratei SUITE. The Room was very spacious, and our child was thrilled.\nThe lounge offerings were even better than when we visited two years ago, and we had a wonderful time there in the evening.\nThe buffet was consistently high quality as always. With all-you-can-drink alcohol included, it was truly a happy stay. Thank you very much.

    The meals were very delicious.

    The service at both the front desk and the restaurant was excellent, and everyone’s smiles were wonderful!! We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, and including the large public bath there were three baths in total. It was very helpful that towels and amenities were available everywhere. Each bath—the large public bath, the hinoki bath, and the in-room bath—has a different atmosphere, so I highly recommend them. Dinner featured many dishes with seasonal crab for this time of year, and everything tasted great. We planned our trip to Fukui mainly for the crab, so my mother was especially happy! For breakfast, we were delighted to have sukiyaki in the morning. The rice was also very delicious! It was a bit disappointing that we checked in late and had plans to go out early on the second day, so we couldn’t relax as much as we wanted. If I have another chance, I’d love to visit again and take it easy next time.

    I was really looking forward to my stay, but…

    I already shared my concerns about the room directly through the Accommodation’s survey, so I wasn’t going to bring them up again, but something is still bothering me. The toilet paper holder could hold two rolls, but both had less than half remaining. I was shocked—I’ve never experienced this even at a Business Hotel. I looked for spare rolls but couldn’t find any. I hoped it would be enough, but since three of us were staying, it wasn’t. In the end, we had to call the front desk. At the very least, please make sure one roll is sufficiently full when setting them out. We will not be returning.

    The buffet is outstanding! Every dish is high quality.

    The buffet is supervised by the chef who oversaw JAL First Class cuisine, so I went in with high expectations based on the Reviews—and it was even more impressive than the Reviews said! Every dish shows great care in ingredient selection, and everything is simply delicious!! Plus, there’s an excellent variety. I’ve had buffets at many Ryokan and Hotels, and this one easily ranks in my top three! There are plenty of buffets that are just average or not very good, but this one truly stood out. That said, in my personal opinion the baths and Onsen were fairly standard, so I suppose that can’t be helped.

    Your First All-Inclusive Experience

    My first posting was in Fukui, and I lived in Maruoka Town, so I have visited Awara Onsen many times. I had never stayed at Grandia Housen, and my only memories of the Onsen out in the rice fields were of big banquets rather than the scenery. To be honest, I didn’t have high expectations for the food (Wakasa beef shabu-shabu), but the appetizersmulti-line break preserved?

    We were delighted by the wonderful dinner.

    I made a Reservation because the price on IKYU was a great deal. Dinner was truly delicious no matter what we had. Häagen-Dazs is also available at breakfast, so you don’t need to have it at night. This time we stayed in a Room on the 10th floor, but the hallway was cold, and with only one futon mattress my hips hurt, so we took another one out of the closet and layered two, which made for a comfortable sleep. If we visit with my elderly parents in the future, I’ll consider in advance which floor would be best to stay on. The Room itself is warm, but it does get dry, so I’d be happy if humidifiers could be loaned out. In the sauna, only near the ceiling gets very hot, and when sitting down it takes time to start sweating. If you add löyly or an aufguss-style service in the future, I think even more sauna-focused guests would come. The cold bath is excellent. It seems there are Rooms with sa private sauna as well, but they didn’t appeal to me much, so we chose a standard Japanese-style room instead. I’d like to stay again.

    Family Trip

    Last May, we stayed at Grandia Housen to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary, and it truly left a lasting impression. Wanting my family to experience the same joy, we visited again after New Year's with my father, mother, and children. They kindly prepared adjacent rooms for us and arranged a spacious private dining room where all seven of us could sit together—everyone was absolutely thrilled! During dinner, the gracious proprietress came to greet us personally, leaving us deeply moved once again. She was incredibly elegant! Thank you so much. The meals, baths, and rooms were all perfect. Even after returning home, we kept talking about how it was the best ryokan we've ever stayed at. Since this might be our last trip as a complete family before the kids graduate from university and go their separate ways, choosing Grandia Housen turned out to be the perfect decision. We will definitely stay here again when visiting Fukui in the future. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful time filled with happiness!

    It was absolutely amazing!

    This was our second visit, celebrating his birthday, and everything was absolutely perfect—the staff's hospitality, the facility's services, and the delicious food. We even received a celebratory gift, for which we are truly grateful. Since it was New Year's, it was crowded, but the meal included dishes like ozoni soup. It saved us from cooking and looked so beautiful that it almost felt too good to eat. Next time, we’d love to visit during a more pleasant season. We also experienced snow-viewing while soaking in the bath as snow fell—it was truly magical. We’re so glad we came here and look forward to visiting again!

    We indulged in luxury!

    We stayed with the Crab Plan to enjoy crab dishes. The size and amount of crab exceeded our expectations, and every dish was delicious and truly satisfying! Not only the food but also the Room was clean and spacious, and the private open-air bath in the room was incredibly relaxing—we used it more than four times. The staff's hospitality was attentive, allowing us to have a wonderful time. We would love to stay again during a different season! Thank you for providing such a fantastic experience this time!

    We look forward to further improving our services.

    We were considering a small Ryokan, but my companion wanted to visit the Hotel where the Giants stayed, so we chose this one (as child-free individuals in our 50s, we weren't interested in buffets). This Hotel features Onsen baths, including private open-air baths in the rooms; however, they are circulated. I was concerned about a chlorine smell but found it to be fine. The cypress bath was practically private, and from the room's open-air bath, we enjoyed views of autumn leaves and distant mountains. Overall, we were satisfied; however, at this price point, there are Hotels offering more exceptional service. Some disappointing aspects stood out as a result. I write this with hopes for future improvements. ■ No welcome upon arrival. We arrived slightly before check-in time (around 2:40 PM), but despite staff being present in the lobby chatting among themselves, there was no welcoming atmosphere. While wandering around uncertainly, an international staff member approached us and assisted with check-in politely and with a warm smile. ■ Placing carry-on luggage directly on tatami mats. The staff placed our suitcase directly onto the tatami floor (living area) without wiping its wheels or using any protective matting—this surprised us. ■ Timing of meal service. We added Echizen crab as an option to our meal plan; however, while still eating that crab freshly grilled at our table grill station during dinner service courses continued arriving—including A5-grade Wakasa beef steak—which felt rushed and poorly coordinated detracting enjoyment between dishes served simultaneously instead separately spaced better pacing-wise overall experience diminished somewhat here unfortunately despite high-quality ingredients themselves otherwise appreciated nonetheless! It was nice having head chef personally greet guests tableside though presentation artistry sashimi freshness flavors impressed greatly albeit bamboo charcoal salt texture seemed mismatched softer alternative seasoning might complement better balance palate preferences subjective note shared respectfully constructive feedback context intended only improvement suggestions sake moving forward future occasions alike similar settings elsewhere likewise perhaps consider adapting accordingly wherever applicable feasible practical terms logistics constraints permitting naturally case-by-case     Restaurant

    The all-you-can-drink options, including alcohol, after arriving at the accommodation were great. The restaurant seating was narrow like a dining hall, but they accommodated a change for us. However, when asked "It's for two people, right?" it seemed like they thought the narrow seats would be sufficient for two. The meals were luxurious, but with limited space at the table, it was hard to bring many dishes at once. Breakfast seating was as tight as in a business hotel's breakfast area, so we ate quickly without much relaxation. Aside from the buffet seating arrangement, everything else was very satisfying.

    Boiled eggs are out of stock.

    The buffet felt like the quality had declined compared to before. Still, it was quite tasty and we were satisfied. The Wi‑Fi was hard to connect to, but once connected there were no issues. We’ll be back again next year. On the way home, we bought crab at the crab shop you recommended. Thank you very much.

    I had a relaxing stay.

    We stayed at the separate accommodation. Due to availability, we were upgraded to a higher-ranked room than the one we had reserved. The facility was well-maintained in every aspect, allowing us to relax and enjoy our stay. The restaurant where we dined offered a stunning view, letting us enjoy both the flavors and the scenery. While there was a slight delay in the timing of dishes being served, the presentation and taste were refined. Overall, it was a highly satisfying accommodation experience.

    Room Air Conditioning

    I stayed at the accommodation on a cold day in November. After check-in, I was guided to a Japanese-style room, where the heating had been turned on in advance. The tatami mats were very warm and comfortable. Everything else was perfect as well.

    On the way back from the Dinosaur Museum

    I stayed in a room with a private open-air bath. It was in the annex called Kofukitei. The staff were attentive and friendly, running to pick up our luggage upon arrival at the parking lot and loading it for us when we left. The meals were very delicious. The restaurant staff were also friendly and provided excellent service. The facility and room were very clean, though I noticed a small stain on the ceiling that caught my attention. Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay.

    This was our first stay as a couple. The room, bath, and service were all excellent—truly a perfect Ryokan with no complaints. We had high expectations for dinner after hearing that Giants players praised the buffet last year, and it exceeded them. Every dish, including desserts and drinks, was delicious, making it a blissful experience. The breakfast buffet was also delightful and made for a wonderful morning. While the accommodation cost is not cheap, we would love to stay here again and again.

    A standard large Ryokan.

    I was deciding between this accommodation and a small, traditional ryokan, but I chose this one after reading a review that mentioned it is a large-scale ryokan with well-equipped facilities where you can enjoy a high-quality and serene time. The room had an onsen open-air bath on the balcony and was spacious with both Japanese and Western styles, giving an impressive appearance. However, the design showed its age with dangerous steps at the entrance and an outdated toilet. The layout was also inconvenient; for example, you either have to undress in front of everyone sitting in the living area or go outside to undress on the balcony before entering the bath. This setup seems suitable only for couples or families with children. The lounge service at the facility was minimal—only one type of wine available—and it was removed by 6:30 PM. Additionally, sandals at the entrance were left scattered around untidily. I had high expectations for a special experience but felt disappointed due to many aspects lacking hospitality. Personally, I found my stay at Komichi-tei more comfortable in comparison.

    5th stay at the accommodation.

    I am a repeat guest at Hanare Yutorogitei. This was my fifth stay. It took over 20 minutes to serve dinner, and I had to wait. Since the dinner time is communicated during check-in, I hope for smoother service in the future. The food was very delicious, and breakfast was also luxurious.

    60th Birthday Ladies' Gathering

    I came across a fun and easy-to-understand promotional video for this Ryokan on TikTok, and it made me want to visit. Since I’m turning 60 this year, I decided to treat myself and invited some friends for a girls' trip to celebrate my milestone birthday. It was absolutely amazing. First, we were warmly welcomed upon arrival, including by the young owner himself, who greeted us with a big smile just like in the video. Several other staff members also came out to welcome us. When we left by plane later on, everyone waved goodbye as we took off—it was both slightly embarrassing and heartwarming at the same time! We were promptly guided to our Room by an attentive staff member who ensured everything was perfect for us. As someone who loves tatami mats and wanted to sleep on futons, I really appreciated staying in a Japanese-Western style Room. The meals were outstanding—seasonal ingredients combined with creative dishes that reflected autumn and even Halloween themes! You could feel the thoughtfulness of the chefs in every bite. The hospitality truly embodied Japan’s spirit of omotenashi (hospitality), making me proud to be Japanese. Although I don’t drink much beer, I was surprised that beverages in both the Room and lounge—including beer—were complimentary as part of their inclusive service. There were Onsen eggs available too! While I didn’t try them myself, my friends enjoyed them so much they had two each! Our Room also featured an open-air bath (rotenburo). At Yutorogitei there’s even a hinoki wood bath available, while at Tenku Spa you can choose from various shampoos tailored to your hair type—a thoughtful touch! The hairdryers provided both in our Room and at the large public bath area were top-notch; they dried hair quickly while leaving it silky smooth—perfect from a woman’s perspective! It inspired me to upgrade my own dryer soon. Honestly... I felt completely relaxed during my stay here. If only I had more time off work—I would have loved a Multiple Night Stay! This time we stayed at Yutorogitei but next time I'd love to try Kotobukikitei instead... A Multiple Night Stay would be absolutely perfect there too!

    An accommodation that makes you want to cheer for it.

    We stayed at Yutorogitei (Genkai) with my parents in their 80s and my daughter, a total of five people. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted at the entrance by the young proprietress and staff, who were polite and energetic. Check-in was smooth without any waiting, completed quickly while seated on chairs in the lobby. The renovated room was spacious, clean, and comfortable; however, I noticed a slight musty smell likely due to age. While I wanted to ventilate the room, there were no screens on the windows and considering insects during this season, we used an air purifier instead. Both dinner and breakfast were served at Ryotei Yuzen with a wide variety of dishes that were all delicious—completely satisfying! My mother particularly loved a grasshopper craft made from pampas grass leaves. When she expressed her wish to take it home to show her great-grandchild, it was carefully wrapped to prevent drying out—a gesture that deeply moved her. The Onsen experience was relaxing as it wasn’t crowded on weekdays; we encountered only a few other guests and enjoyed what felt like almost private use of the baths. The lounge drinks service was also convenient and enjoyable. At checkout time, many staff members along with the senior proprietress and young master saw us off courteously. When my daughter asked for a photo with him, he kindly agreed—and even posed cheerfully in his signature SNS pose upon request—making her very happy. One thing I noticed personally as someone sensitive to smells: the fragrance in the lobby or elevator felt too strong for me. A subtler scent might enhance its elegance further. This accommodation beautifully combines traditional Onsen Ryokan charm with modern touches! Both my elderly parents and 20-something daughter left highly satisfied—it’s truly an excellent facility appealing across generations!

    Highly satisfied!

    The warm welcome and excellent service were impressive, the spacious two-room guest suite with large windows offered an amazing view. The early drink service starting at 3 PM was a delightful touch, but the highlight was undoubtedly the incredible dining experience. The luxurious dinner buffet was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before, with so many options that I ended up eating too much! Additionally, the staff's friendly smiles and attentive service were outstanding. It was a truly satisfying stay at the Hotel!

    It was an extremely satisfying accommodation!

    I decided to make a reservation after watching a YouTuber having such a great time staying here. Although the YouTuber wasn't focused on travel content and didn't mention the hotel's name, I searched online for details matching the video and finally found it! I was so excited to stay here at last! The dinner buffet was delicious and very satisfying. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with activities like relaxing in the onsen, having beer in the lounge, and even making onsen eggs.

    It was a wonderful trip!

    We stayed at this accommodation for our annual three-generation trip. We usually visit different places, but this year we decided to come to Fukui after seeing it on social media. From the moment we arrived until we left, all the staff were kind, attentive, and friendly—it was such a wonderful accommodation! The meals were luxurious and delicious! Although I thought 90 minutes might be too short, it turned out to be just right! Both the children and parents were very satisfied and shared their happiness with us! Despite many guests staying at the same time, the large public bath was never crowded. It was always clean and comfortable whenever we visited. One slightly disappointing point was that due to our large group of three generations, our dinner seating arrangement wasn’t ideal. Two people seated in the back couldn’t fit their legs under the table and had to eat in a dimly lit area without proper lighting. They didn’t mention it during dinner out of consideration for me as I made the reservation, which made me feel sorry for them. This is just a personal wish, but while I think having a lounge system is great, I would have loved an option where we could enjoy welcome sweets and tea leisurely in our room—even if it meant paying more. That aside, this has become one of my favorite accommodations! We’ve already made another reservation for next time! It’s such a wonderful place that I want to visit again and again in the future! Above all else, what stood out most was how heartwarming and exceptional all of your staff’s hospitality was—it truly exceeded expectations. Thank you so much for sending us off with joy until our very last moment there! You made this trip unforgettable for my entire family—thank you from the bottom of my heart! We are filled with gratitude!
