A cozy hotel
The staff, hot springs, breakfast, and even the little squirrels in the garden made our stay wonderful. We would love to visit again if we have the chance.

It was convenient.
I booked this hotel for its moor hot spring baths in Obihiro. My room had a lovely view of the garden. Some parts of the building showed their age, and the room was not very spacious, but the location was convenient. I did not have dinner at the hotel, but I really enjoyed being able to choose soup curry for breakfast—a nice Hokkaido touch. I would stay here again if I have another chance to visit Obihiro.

You’ll love this hotel.
This place came highly recommended by locals, so we chose it for the final stop of our trip. The room was amazing—one night wasn’t enough, and I’d love to stay again in the season when they light the fireplace-style stove. The wonderful service was truly soothing as well. I also caused some trouble at the front desk due to my own misunderstanding, but they handled it with great sincerity, and I’m deeply grateful. As for dining, after a long journey my stomach was a bit tired, and since we had lunch around 3:00 p.m. on the day of check-in, I was disappointed that we couldn’t fully enjoy the restaurant as I’d hoped. However, I learned that we could also use it as a bar, so we were able to relax with wine and snacks at our own pace. Needless to say, breakfast was delicious. I don’t like carrying lots of luggage, so I usually choose hotels with coin laundry—and this one has it too—so next time I’ll stay for multiple nights.

Long-awaited
As a Hokkaido resident, I’d been wanting to stay here for a long time, and my wish finally came true. The corn potage at breakfast was incredibly sweet—something that made me proud to be from Hokkaido. The moor hot spring was excellent, and both the sauna and cold plunge had perfect temperatures. The building and furnishings feel solidly built with a luxurious atmosphere. The garden is beautifully maintained, making it a pleasure to stroll around.

Sisters’ Trip
I wanted to soak in moor hot spring water! I’ve stayed at Tokachigawa Onsen before, so this time I booked here. Our room came with a garden terrace. Since it was summer, it was still hot at check-in so we didn’t use it right away, but once it cooled down in the evening we toasted on the terrace! It was spacious and comfortable. The next day brought heavy rain, so unfortunately we couldn’t enjoy morning coffee on the terrace. Dinner was a Western-style course meal. We were able to have both meat and fish. Everything was delicious! I even had seconds of the freshly baked bread. When I mentioned we were celebrating a birthday, they added a message plate to the dessert. The portions were on the smaller side, so I ended up eating a takeout pork rice bowl as a late-night snack. Free-flowing natural moor hot spring water—my skin felt silky smooth! The large public bath and sauna were more compact and smaller than expected. There aren’t many washing stations either, so if it’s crowded you may end up waiting in the tub. They offer many different room types, so I think it’s best to choose based on the season. Next time I’d like to stay in a room with a private bath and fully enjoy the moor hot spring without worrying about others.

A lot happened, but I’m satisfied.
After a 150 km drive, I arrived exhausted in the evening. The middle-aged man with glasses at the front desk had absolutely no welcoming attitude, which made me feel sad. On top of that, when I asked, “Is there a restaurant or café in the hotel where I can get something light to eat?” he replied, “No. The Western and teppanyaki restaurants are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. We do have a Japanese restaurant, but it’s course meals only.” I was surprised that the hotel’s restaurants close every week—and for two days at that—and also shocked by how he ended it with just “No.” Even in the morning when I passed by him, he didn’t greet me once, which again left me feeling down. The welcome drinks in the lobby were powdered tea and a vinegar drink that wasn’t very good (I didn’t try the coffee). I paid over JPY 50,000 per night (with breakfast), so it made me worry whether this hotel is really okay… The open-air hot spring bath in the room felt like having a bathtub on an apartment balcony in town—“Huh?”—another disappointment. However, the room itself (Forest Twin) was spacious with a great layout and very comfortable. There were several nice touches: the toilet is far from the bedroom behind a door; the changing area is large and very easy to use; you take off your shoes before entering; both slippers for inside the building and slippers for inside the room are provided; there are two thick bath towels per person plus bathrobes; and drinks in the fridge—including water as well as beer and 100% orange juice—are free. These points improved my impression. The next morning, trees across the property spread out right in front of me. At night I could only see Aeon and some lonely streetlights, but then I realized: oh wow—this is actually such a lovely view! My impression improved even more. Enjoying an open-air soak in the moor hot spring while looking at those trees → then cooling off on a chair on the balcony was truly amazing. It was also great that you can fully open up the large windows. However, when sitting in the tub you have to view everything through a glass (plastic?) barrier—and it was covered with water stains, which was disappointing. That said, a younger male staff member at reception greeted me with a smile when he passed by, and both the female greeter at breakfast and another female staff member were also wonderful. The garden on site feels great too—it’s strange how my impression kept getting better as time went on. The interior design is completely different from modern hotels—in an interesting way that feels unique to regional properties. It’s extremely disappointing that both loungewear and sleepwear are yukata robes; I would prefer separate pieces suitable for moving around inside as well. Breakfast was normally tasty. Cheese fondue…??

Everything is excellent.
I stayed here for the first time in about 20 years, and everything was just as wonderful as I remembered—the hospitality, meals, location, baths, and the atmosphere of the garden. The staff’s service in particular was outstanding, and I was able to spend a truly relaxing time. Thank you very much. Next time, I would like to stay for a longer period.

The hot spring water quality is excellent, but there are a few minor inconveniences.
This was my first stay. The Onsen water quality was excellent, and even my skin condition improved. There is also a nearby park, which was very refreshing. Breakfast was creative and enjoyable. On the other hand, the following points were inconvenient: 1. No pajamas Only yukata were provided, and since they are not very stretchy, they were quite uncomfortable to sleep in. I understand yukata may be preferred by international guests, so it may be difficult to change, but I would appreciate it if pajamas were available as well. (In my past experience, many Hotels that provide yukata also offer pajamas.) 2. No way to buy alcoholic drinks after the in-house shop closes The vending machines do not sell alcohol, so you have to go to a convenience store that is a bit far away to buy alcoholic beverages. This is just my assumption for reference, but when I asked about these two points, the staff answered immediately, so I felt these questions might come up fairly often. If they are frequently asked about, it may be worth considering improvements.

Mall Onsen is wonderful.
The Moor Onsen was very pleasant, and I was satisfied. It isn’t very large, but the Onsen itself was excellent. The Room was completely average—neither particularly good nor bad. The meals were disappointing. I booked a Plan with breakfast and chose the Western-style option, but the main egg dish you can select looked small and the portion was small as well. The buffet salad also had limited variety, and considering Tokachi is known as a dairy farming region, there weren’t many vegetables either, which made the meal feel lacking. For me the amount wasn’t an issue, but with just three pieces of bread, I felt it might not be enough for bread lovers or men. Since this Accommodation was my last stop after staying at other Hotels, it may have seemed worse in comparison—but I was disappointed with breakfast.

Your First Moor Onsen
My spouse and I stayed from August 24 to 25. Although it’s near Obihiro Station, it felt like a Hotel in the middle of a forest. Our Room had a garden view; it felt a bit dated, but it was clean and quiet. However, we were concerned that the balcony was clearly visible from the balcony on the floor below. Because the weather was bad, we decided at short notice to have dinner at the Hotel. The meal was delicious, made with local ingredients, and we were very satisfied with both the food and the service while enjoying the garden view. The Moor Onsen had plenty of hot water and left our skin feeling smooth—it was an excellent bath. One request: we would have preferred loungewear or samue instead of yukata. Even though the weather wasn’t great, we’d like to stay again when it’s sunny. Thank you for taking care of us.

This is my third sta...
This is my third stay, and unlike many Hotels in Japan, the washroom is bright and well equipped with a magnifying mirror, bathrobes, and more. The Room furnishings and amenities are also on par with overseas five-star Hotels, so I am satisfied every time. The sushi from Sushi Kasuga that I requested separately was exceptionally delicious, and I was very pleased. I especially love the Moor Onsen, so this time again I chose a Room with a private bath and enjoyed the Onsen at a leisurely pace; next time, I’m already looking forward to trying a Room with a sauna as well.

When you think of Obihiro, you think of…
Indian curry and Masuya Bakery are must-tries, but for us, Hokkaido Hotel is also a must-stay. We highly recommend it to everyone.

Delicious meals and a relaxing Onsen soothed my tired body.
The Hotel was not far from Obihiro Station, yet it was quiet and surrounded by trees. Thank you for accommodating my companion’s food allergies even though we informed you at the last minute during dinner. Thanks to you, we were able to enjoy every dish without leaving anything behind, all rich with flavorful dashi. In addition to the unique texture of the Moor Onsen, there was also an open-air bath, and I ended up soaking for a long time. The delicious meals in a calm atmosphere and the pleasant Onsen soothed our bodies after a long journey.

It felt just like home, and I was able to relax.
We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath. Whether it was the color scheme or the spacious layout, it was incredibly relaxing. And I completely fell in love with the Moor Onsen. The large public bath had people coming and going, and I also noticed a bit of age, so after using it once, I used the open-air bath in our Room for the rest of our stay. It was unbelievably comfortable! I wanted to soak so much that it almost felt like a waste to sleep. It was my first time in Obihiro, and I’m truly glad we chose this Accommodation. The round-trip airport bus was also very convenient. Thank you very much.

Everything was extremely satisfying.
The bus from Tokachi Obihiro Airport stops right in front of the Hotel, which was very convenient. I arrived early and left my luggage, and they even checked it in for me, which was a big help. My Room was a Hollywood twin, but since I was traveling alone it felt spacious, and the layout was great. Breakfast was a Japanese set meal, with drinks, salad, fruit, and more served buffet-style, and everything was delicious. I also got to see an Ezo squirrel at that time. As someone who loves baths, I used the moor Onsen three times and was very satisfied. Thank you for a comfortable stay.

Hard to believe you’re in the middle of the city.
The moment we entered the Hotel, it smelled wonderful. Although the Hotel is located in the city, the grounds were quiet. We could see squirrels and woodpeckers visiting the trees in the courtyard, which made our children very happy. Breakfast was great—the salad dressing was especially delicious. The Western-style set came with several kinds of bread, and we appreciated that paper bags were provided so we could take any leftovers with us.

It was a wonderful vacation at the end of August.
As the hot summer was coming to an end, I wanted to visit cool Hokkaido, so I chose a Hokkaido Hotel listed on IKYU and stayed for two nights. It was a wonderful Hotel—tasteful and refined, yet not overly formal—so I was able to relax and unwind over three days. The Onsen was a rare plant-based moor Onsen that felt great on the skin and deeply soothing. Using it as a day trip costs 2,000 yen per visit, but I enjoyed five baths during my stay. As a coffee lover, I was especially happy that there was always a machine available to brew delicious coffee, and I refilled many times. Free vinegar drinks were also provided and were perfect after bathing. There was also a free ice machine near the baths. The parking lot was very spacious, so we had no trouble parking our rental car. When leaving, the airport direct bus stop was right in front of the Hotel, making it easy to board while keeping an eye on the time. Since we booked a Multiple Night Stay discount rate, there was no Room cleaning during the stay, but it wasn’t an issue at all. We chose a Plan with breakfast included: you can select from Western-style breakfast, Japanese breakfast, or soup curry, plus there is a buffet with salads, fruit, drinks, and more—making it feel truly indulgent. Having breakfast while enjoying greenery in the dining room on the first floor overlooking the garden made our holiday mornings especially pleasant. The only inconvenience is that dinner is limited to course meals; if you prefer something light you’ll need to eat out—but without a rental car most restaurants are quite far away. (That said, this is also why the location is surrounded by lush greenery.) Similarly, getting around for sightseeing without a rental car can be inconvenient. The station is also some distance away (about 15 minutes on foot?), and the walk there isn’t very interesting. The “Deai no Komichi” path beside the Hotel was lovely for a short stroll. A short walk from the Hotel led us to a nice cake shop where you can eat in as well. The cakes sold at the shop inside the Hotel were authentic hotel-quality pastries; we bought them twice and enjoyed them in our Room with free coffee. The bread sold there also seems very popular—by evening it was almost sold out. Overall we had a very satisfying stay at this Hotel life experience—and I’d love to return again.

The Facility is outdated.
It was my first stay in several years. The shower curtain had an unpleasant odor that was hard to tolerate; I tried using a deodorizing spray, but since this is an older Accommodation, the unit bath has the toilet and bathtub in the same space. I even hesitated to use the toilet. The step between the washbasin area and the unit bath was also quite high, which was stressful. On the other hand, the Room with a large balcony offered views of mountains as borrowed scenery and a nearby garden, creating a spacious setting with a pleasant atmosphere. The staff were also kind and courteous.

Meals
Speaking of Hokkaido, you expect seafood—like a seafood bowl for breakfast—but both breakfast and dinner were disappointing.

The meals were satisfying, the Facility felt outdated, and the overall atmosphere was disappointing.
As the title says. My expectations were high. By “atmosphere,” I mean the type of guests. Some walked around the Hotel dressed like Onsen Ryokan guests, and others came to the breakfast venue in room slippers despite notices asking guests not to do so. It may have been because it was peak summer season, but it didn’t feel like a resort at all. The staff probably couldn’t intervene, but as someone paying for the overall experience—including the atmosphere—I was very disappointed. I won’t be returning.

The Onsen and the Room were great!
We stayed as a family of three, including a child. We booked two double-bed Rooms, and the space and comfort were excellent. Our young child was impressed by the Onsen and the Western-style breakfast. Since we stayed for three nights, we chose a Plan with no Room cleaning, but towels and other items were replenished every day without us having to ask, which made our stay very comfortable. Unlike Sapporo or Hakodate, it wasn’t extremely crowded in town. Even though it was early August, we had several cool days in a row, enjoyed the great outdoors to the fullest, and were very satisfied. On the first morning we chose the Japanese-style breakfast, but the grilled fish was undercooked; it wasn’t grilled enough so the skin wouldn’t come off easily, and there was a slight fishy smell. If this could be improved, it would be wonderful. The Western-style breakfast and curry set meal were delicious. If we visit Obihiro again, we would definitely like to stay here again, and I would recommend it to family and friends as well.

One of my favorite accommodations
Hokkaido Hotel, conveniently close to town and offering Tokachigawa Onsen, is one of my favorite places to stay. Although I am a repeat guest, it had been a while since my last visit, and I was truly impressed that the front desk staff remembered my name. It may be because I once hosted a 60th birthday celebration party at this Hotel, but the hospitality of the front desk staff—the face of the Hotel—was excellent. However, there was one point that left me slightly dissatisfied during the Japanese kaiseki dinner, so I could not give all 5s. That said, the follow-up from the floor manager afterward was outstanding. I am always grateful for your courteous service. I have already made my next Reservation as well.

Only the dinner and breakfast were disappointing.
I heard it was my daughter’s birthday, and since we had a Room with an open-air bath, our stay was very comfortable. The course dinner was delicious and excellent, but only the Western-style breakfast omelet tasted bad and was disappointing. I would like you to improve it.

It was a pleasant Hotel.
Our flight was canceled, so we hurriedly made a last-minute Reservation and stayed here. It was a very pleasant Hotel. The Onsen was also nice (personally, the water temperature was a bit too hot for me, but that’s just preference). For dinner, we went to eat near the station on our own. Perhaps because it was a last-minute Reservation, or because we had a child with us, our breakfast table had no view of the garden and felt like it was by the back entrance—behind the coffee machine area. The coffee machine was noisy, and it was clearly an unfortunate table; that part was very disappointing and stood out to me. If you promote the great views as a selling point, that seating is really not suitable for guests... The self-service check-in system felt new and refreshing.

We came back to Hokkaido Hotel again this year. The beautiful brick walls, the spacious garden view from the restaurant, a lovely shop where you can choose souvenirs—and of course, the food is outstanding!!

This was my third stay, and once again we were blessed with good weather. The trees and gardens around the Hotel are always soothing. I would appreciate it if you could briefly mention the welcome drink in the lounge at check-in.
