    Perfect for ocean lovers.

    The ocean stretching out before you The view from the Room is wonderful, but enjoying a drink while gazing at the sea from the gazebo—and then relaxing in a bath—was simply the best. We will definitely return.

    Mother’s Birthday

    At my mother’s request, we visited again this time as a birthday gift. Having stayed here several times before and having been given truly memorable hospitality and time, both my mother and I were very much looking forward to it. Everyone was very kind to us, and it was another heartwarming stay, but there were two points that concerned me. While we were relaxing in our Room before our scheduled meal time, I was surprised when someone unlocked the door with a rattling sound and came in. Also, the attendant who assisted us this time had a wonderful smile and seemed to be working very hard, but appeared overwhelmed with serving other guests. The abalone we had been looking forward to ended up in a disappointing state. We rang the bell on the table several times, but it seemed they were too busy to notice, so we looked for the person in charge and spoke to them directly. In addition, I personally felt uncomfortable that parts of the meal explanation were skipped with comments like “since you’ve been here several times...”. Even dishes that had been lit over a flame were left without explanation; we hurriedly ate because we were told “the flame will go out.” After that, thank you for replacing it with a new abalone. Although they tried to welcome us with such a lovely smile, perhaps there were many guests at the same time. They seemed extremely busy. I felt disappointed during what should have been an enjoyable dining experience, and at that point I felt it would be difficult for me personally to return again. In the end, however, an attendant who had taken care of us during a previous stay and one of the front desk girls (I will omit her name) remembered us, which allowed us to spend meaningful and wonderful time here. I did not think we would be able to see them again, so being able to meet both of them—and seeing how happy my mother was—was truly reassuring. Thank you again for making this another lovely stay. This is a place both my mother and I love, so we plan to visit again in the future. Thank you in advance.

    I’d been wanting to ...

    I’d been wanting to stay at Bousui for a long time. From the welcome pickup to our stay and the send-off, everyone was smiling, efficient, and very pleasant. Both dinner and breakfast were beautifully presented with lovely tableware, and everything was delicious. The abalone and steamed dishes were especially outstanding. The flavors were a bit light for us as a couple. Even the luxurious miso soup in the morning felt a little mild in both broth and seasoning… The Onsen was what I was most looking forward to for relieving daily fatigue. The private gazebo bath was flawless—an amazing view and space where we could relax comfortably—but the public bath was disappointing. It was small and the water wasn’t very hot… The open-air bath also didn’t offer any view of the sky or scenery, so it felt underwhelming. It also seemed somewhat dated. This isn’t the Ryokan’s fault, but some overseas guests may not know Onsen etiquette: they brought smartphones into the bathing area and got in without washing first. They also brought bath towels into the bathing area, and soaking while looking at their phones honestly made me feel uncomfortable. I think it would be better to explain proper manners at check-in so guests will follow them. This trip left me with some dissatisfaction, but the food was delicious, and we really enjoyed the scenery and lounge. Thank you to all of your staff for your hospitality in such hot weather.

    The gazebo...

    The Room and the food were great. However, the gazebo… the gazebo…. We came specifically to stay here to experience healing, quiet, and an escape from everyday life—so we could feel refreshed and go back to our routine with renewed energy. But the Chinese-speaking guests in the neighboring gazebo were constantly shouting loudly and making a huge commotion. It was not relaxing at all. They were yelling and splashing around like it was a pool. It was awful. They left about 20 minutes before we did, and only then could we finally hear the sound of the waves—and it became a relaxing space again. While they were there, we also heard the phrase “wǒ xiǎng niàoniào,” which really unsettled us. “Wǒ xiǎng niàoniào” is childlike wording meaning “I need to pee.” Once one person started saying it, others also kept repeating “niàoniào”… We ended up hearing “pee” over and over. Since there is no restroom in the gazebo—and we didn’t notice them going out to use the floor restroom each time—we can only assume what that meant. I believe the Premium Gazebo has a restroom, so please consider adding restrooms inside those four gazebos as well (such as Hinago-ri). Also, the washing area smells slightly like sewage.

    The price does not match the quality of the service.

    I stayed one night as a solo guest for 35,000 yen. Honestly, I did not feel the service matched this price range. During my stay, basic mistakes happened repeatedly. - During the room briefing, I was told “all drinks in the refrigerator are free,” but it actually included paid items. - At dinner, they forgot to bring a bowl for the kamameshi rice and only brought it partway through the meal. - On the day of my stay, there was heavy rain and train service was suspended at Izu-Kogen Station. I called to ask about Shuttle Service, but was only told, “You’ll have to take a taxi or wait until service resumes.” It wasn’t simply that Shuttle Service wasn’t provided—I expected more flexibility and consideration in an emergency from a Ryokan in this price range, so this was very disappointing. - The birthday cake I requested by email in advance was first brought out only for photos, with an explanation that it would be served later with dessert. However, even after finishing dessert it never arrived. After pressing the call button three times, a staff member finally came—not to check on us, but bringing the cake and saying only, “Sorry, we forgot.” This was the moment I had been looking forward to most on my birthday trip, so it was extremely disappointing. I wouldn’t mind a single mistake. However, from phone support to check-in, room guidance, and dinner service—basic mistakes continued throughout the day each time without any manager checking in or following up. I have stayed at many Ryokan and Hotels across The whole country of Japan before; this is the first time I have questioned service quality to this extent. This trip was a solo birthday getaway. I had been looking forward to it for a long time, so it ended up being truly disappointing. The view and food were not bad by any means—but that alone did not feel worth an Accommodation Fee of 35,000 yen. At least for me at this price point; I would choose another Ryokan.

    An Accommodation where you can enjoy an amazing feeling every time you visit

    Because a typhoon passed through the day before, the Izu Kyuko Line was cut off. Even after checking service updates online that morning, the information wasn’t very clear. When I called—prepared to cancel—they kindly told me that local trains were running as far as Katase-Shirata. Another great feature of Bousui is how pleasant and smooth the communication is by email and phone. Starting with a visit to Kuronegaiwa Open-Air Bath nearby, then relaxing time in the gazebo, café & bar time in the lounge, delicious dinner and breakfast in a Room with a wonderful view—everything was outstanding. Depending on the Plan, some guests may find it bothersome that staff enter and leave the Room frequently for meals and setting up or putting away bedding. That said, both our attendant and everyone else were very kind, and when we made a sudden request regarding yukata, they responded immediately. One thing I didn’t understand was that the refrigerator was locked and wouldn’t open. I assumed that was normal so I didn’t mention it, but at checkout we were asked whether we had used it—so perhaps it should have been accessible? It made me realize that even if you don’t drink anything, simply knowing you can anytime really matters. I travel often and sometimes consider other Accommodation in Izu-Atagawa, but whenever I go anyway, I end up wanting to stay at Bousui—so I can’t go anywhere else. (Laughs) We look forward to staying again.

    The best, one-of-a-kind accommodation

    The meals, the Room, the service—and of course the Onsen—everything is perfect! This is an Accommodation that makes you think, “I want to come back,” every time you visit. We were completely satisfied with everything: savoring elaborate kaiseki cuisine at a relaxed pace in a private dining room, the private gazebo, and the hospitality in the lounge. Thank you to all the staff for your thoughtful attention to detail. It rained on our arrival day, but even the rainy sea felt beautiful. We’re also looking forward to receiving the handmade pressed-flower postcard later on.

    This is our 8th stay. Over the past few years, we’ve visited twice a year—this is our go-to Accommodation. With several private baths, spacious and relaxing guest rooms, and the staff’s warm, hospitality-filled service, we enjoy a high-quality stay every time. We’d like to visit again around autumn.

    A Wonderful Time

    I stayed in a Japanese-style suite with my mother in her 80s under the Omakase Plan. The Room was very spacious, and the entire property was impeccably clean. The meals featured carefully prepared dishes served in small bowls, which were a delight to look at as well. Along with the freshness of the sashimi, the sukiyaki beef was so tender it practically melted in my mouth—everything was truly delicious. I’m also grateful that you prepared a birthday plate for my mother. For the bath, we used the private gazebo “Ukifune,” and it was pure bliss to soak while looking out at the ocean right in front of us. Every staff member greeted us with a smile and provided pleasant service, and even before our stay we had thoughtful email communication that reflected a high level of hospitality. Overall, we were extremely satisfied—Done: this is an Accommodation we will definitely stay at again.

If I may make one request, the instructions for using the safe and CD player were printed in text that was too small and difficult to read, so I would appreciate it if they could be made easier to read.

    Make your Golden Week girls’ trip unforgettable at the best accommodation.

    2026/04/30 (Thu) Our annual Golden Week girls’ trip. This time, at my earnest request, we chose “Bousui.” I had admired it for years since living in Yokohama, and at last I was able to stay here. We travel to many places, but this Accommodation is truly beyond reproach. My friend, visiting Izu for the first time, was even more impressed. Although it unfortunately turned rainy from the afternoon, the moment we passed through the entrance we were greeted by a breathtaking view of Sagami Bay. Every staff member provided wonderful service, and we were already overwhelmed by the warm hospitality at check-in. Since it was close to a full moon, we chose a second-floor Room facing the Moon Road; sadly, due to the bad weather we couldn’t see the full moon. Even so, we were completely satisfied with the Room, and the cuisine at the dining venue on the same floor was outstanding as well. Still, when it comes to Bousui, it has to be the gazebos. We used both a private gazebo and a premium gazebo—an extraordinary experience that truly moved us. The thoughtfully designed hospitality spaces throughout the property are genuinely soothing. We liked our lovely staff member so much that we promised to return next autumn in hopes she can take care of us again. That’s how wonderful this Accommodation was. Thank you very much.

    It was a truly moving trip in many ways.

    I’d been curious about this Accommodation for a long time and was really looking forward to this stay. The gazebo was wonderful as expected, and I enjoyed the matcha and sweets as well. Both breakfast and dinner were beautifully prepared in taste and presentation, which made me excited. I couldn’t see the moon road at moonrise because of clouds, but after a while it appeared, and it became a great experience. Above all, I was most impressed by the staff’s courteous service and how the attendant checked in with us each time. I’ve stayed at many Accommodations, but everyone here was so friendly that it truly made me happy. I also used the car wash service. It felt great when leaving—almost like I’d been given something positive. It’s an old car with sentimental value, so I was delighted to have it cleaned so nicely. I’m sorry for adding extra work, but thank you very much. The only reason I deducted one point from my Room rating is that the step near the bed felt dangerous. Even though I knew about it, I still tripped at night, so personally I hope that in time it could be changed to a standard bed on tatami without a step. That said, the bed was comfortable and the pillow was great. Next time, I’d like to try another type of Room. Since I’m not very fond of in-room dining, I would be happy if there were more Rooms with meals served in a dining venue. This ended up being a long Review, but overall it was a very pleasant and highly satisfying trip. Thank you very much. For anyone who’s unsure, I definitely recommend staying here at least once.

    It was great.

    The staff provided excellent service, and we had a very pleasant stay. The Room shows its age, but the bathroom and other water facilities have been nicely renovated and kept clean, and the in-room amenities were also good. Overall, it was a satisfying stay.

    The Best Accommodation

    Thank you very much for taking such wonderful care of my daughter and her husband during their stay. I gave them this trip as a wedding gift, and they told me it was the best stay ever—everything was exceptional: the Room, the meals, the gazebo, and above all, the warm hospitality of your staff. Unfortunately, due to cloudy skies they weren’t able to see the moon road, but they did get to watch the sunrise. They were also amazed by how outstanding all the services in the lounge were. Regarding the anniversary service, thank you sincerely for your thoughtful kindness—it was completely unexpected, and they were truly touched. Hearing their story has made me want to visit myself. Next time, I would love to come with my loved ones. Thank you again very much.

    Enjoy Izu during the May holidays

    This is my favorite Accommodation, so I stay here every year. The biggest highlight is the open-air bath with a view of the ocean at sunrise—the scenery is outstanding. The meals made with local ingredients are also delicious and wonderful. The dried fish at breakfast has an exquisite level of salt and tastes almost completely natural. During cafe time in the lobby, complimentary drinks, sweets, fruit, and other thoughtful services are provided, making it easy to relax. Having beds in the Room is also convenient—you can rest right away when you’re tired. That said, in the large public bath I would like a bit more of a step when getting into the bath; ideally there would be handrails. Handrails for the open-air bath would also make it safer to enter. I hope this will be improved, as it seems necessary for older guests and children as well. The passage from the large public bath to the open-air bath is not flat either, which feels dangerous. Overall, I think this is a highly satisfying Ryokan. I’d like to visit again next time as well.

    An Accommodation you’ll want to return to, with the same enduring comfort

    This was my third stay, and each time has been highly satisfying. The ocean view from the room is calming no matter how many times I visit, and as it changes throughout the day, time feels like it passes more slowly. The staff’s consistently warm and attentive service made the stay comfortable and reassuring. Spending time in the private gazebo also felt special—one of Bousui’s unique charms. Bousui is becoming a special place for me, and I hope to continue staying here as my regular Accommodation.

    A breathtaking view you should experience at least once

    On the night of the full moon, a shimmering path of light appeared across the sea—it was truly magical and moving. The private open-air bath was the largest I’ve ever experienced, with an incredible view. I was also very satisfied with being able to enjoy alcohol and snacks in the lounge. The spa was a relaxing experience as well, with a spacious private room overlooking the ocean, and the treatments were high quality. I wish I had asked about the lounge hours at check-in. Since there are hardly any nearby places open if you don’t have meals included, it would be helpful if breakfast were available.

    This is my favorite accommodation!!

    It was our first time back at Bousui in a year. We had such a wonderful, happy stay. Thank you very much. The hospitality café in the lobby is available from morning to night, so we were busy (in a good way)—and completely satisfied!! The gazebo and the meals were amazing; once you stay at Bousui, you won’t feel like looking for any other Accommodation! lol

    Fully enjoy the best of Izu

    There is far too much to write here, but we were able to fully enjoy so many wonderful aspects of our stay. Although it rained, spending time in the gazebo while listening to the rain on the roof was wonderfully atmospheric. We look forward to the day we can visit this Accommodation again, which shares the charms of Izu and Ryokan culture.

    Satisfied.

    We exchanged a few emails beforehand, and the communication was very polite and pleasant, which raised my expectations. The service was also courteous and delivered with a smile. It was my first time using a gazebo, and it was wonderful. I booked the Room-assigned Plan, and we were given a spacious Room in the annex. We were served matcha tea and sweets. They were delicious, but I ate the sweets slowly as etiquette suggests, so the matcha cooled down—I should have had the matcha first. They kindly accommodated various requests for our meals; everything was delicious, and the tableware was beautiful as well. We also enjoyed drinks in the waiting area before dinner and spent time in the lounge. If I had to mention anything, it would be that getting around took a little longer than expected, and although everything has been nicely renovated, the faucets are old-style so they were slightly confusing at first. Still, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would definitely like to stay again.

    Even though you just want to relax.

    I have stayed at Bousui more than 10 times. Each time, I come hoping to relax in the Onsen and take it easy with things I don’t usually have time for—CDs, DVDs, games, books, and more. But there are so many events that I end up wanting to experience everything while I’m here. Every visit, I leave the schedule to my wife and enjoy it at a lively pace—“What’s next? Where to next?” Even so, the true regulars always seem one step ahead of me. I still end up missing something to do or something to eat, which makes me come back again and again thinking, “Next time for sure.” There are many Room types as well, so if you don’t make a Reservation early you might miss out on the Room or meal option you want—but because of my job I often get sudden days off, so it doesn’t always work out smoothly. Still, once I’m home I find myself looking forward to deciding which Room to stay in next time. Also, even when the parking lot is packed with cars, it never feels crowded inside—I actually wonder where everyone is—which shows how thoughtful the Hotel is about guest comfort. This is my “secret” Hotel where I can truly enjoy my time; please do give it a try. You’ll get hooked.

    Highly satisfying

    The meals were delicious, and the staff provided excellent service—overall, a truly wonderful Hotel. The dishes made with Izu seafood were outstanding and beautifully presented. I used the gazebo at night and in the morning; I recommend going before sunset or in the morning. I can see why early Reservation is included in the Plan. The employees were pleasant and attentive, and seeing their hospitality made me feel like it had been a long time since I stayed at such a good Hotel. Lately, enjoying the lounge has become one of my pleasures when staying at a Hotel, and I had a great time there as well.

    An Annual Treat

    I stayed last year and had such a wonderful time that I came back again. This time, we used the Premium Gazebo, which made the trip even more memorable. There is always some kind of service available in the lounge throughout the day, and you can also use the gazebo, so there’s never a dull moment. However, if you go to the lounge after service hours, sometimes nothing is left. If it could be arranged so that guests can enjoy it at any time, I think it would feel even more relaxing. I especially love the tokoroten. I would be even happier if sparkling wine were offered for longer hours and in a drier style. Both dinner and breakfast are always delicious. Having so many dishes in small portions to nibble on is pure bliss. Above all, every member of staff at this Ryokan is truly kind and provides excellent service—thank you very much. I’m looking forward to staying again next year.

    It was a cozy accommodation.

    Although more places now accept solo guests, an Accommodation where you can stay alone is still valuable, and as a solo traveler I especially prioritize comfort. Since meals were served in the Room, I didn’t have to interact with other guests and was able to fully enjoy my own time in a comfortable Accommodation. Also, although an unexpected situation occurred, everyone at the Accommodation responded very sincerely, so it did not leave a bad impression. Just one request: I would like hand soap to be provided at the Room washbasin. Even so, I was more than satisfied. Thank you very much.

    The Onsen and the views are both wonderful.

    This was a repeat stay, and we were very satisfied again. From the private open-air bath, we enjoyed both the Onsen and ocean views. The ocean views from the Room and lobby are wonderful. The drinks and food served in the lounge are also very delicious. The freshly picked morning vegetables in the large public bath’s post-bath area were delicious as well. This is an Accommodation we would love to visit again for its Onsen, views, meals, and service!

    We were very satisfied with both the bath and the meals.

    The private gazebo was truly wonderful! All the meals were delicious, but the portions were too large for us and we felt completely stuffed. We would be happy if there were a course with smaller portions. The large public bath was available even late at night, and we appreciated being able to use fresh towels each time. It was also great that the lounge could be used from early morning. And the staff in charge of our Room and meals were very kind, and we really enjoyed talking with them. We would love to stay again. Thank you very much.
