  • First Stay in Otaru

    This was my first time sightseeing in Otaru. We stayed at this Hotel right in front of the Otaru Canal. It was a one-night stay for our family of three, and we ate out, so we only needed a place to sleep. The Room felt a bit small, but since we were just sleeping there, it was more than enough and we were satisfied. Next time, I’d like to try the Hotel breakfast.There are many coin-operated parking lots very close to the Hotel, and the rates were much cheaper than in Tokyo. We parked overnight and left the car until checkout while sightseeing around Otaru Station, and it cost 800 yen for 24 hours. There were coin parking lots around 800–1,200 yen.The Hotel Facility was clean, with a calm lobby atmosphere as well—we were very satisfied. Amenities such as face wash, cleansing products, and skincare items were available on the first floor.I’d like to stay here again when traveling to the Otaru area. Thank you very much to all the staff members.

    Facing the Otaru Canal, we enjoyed the canal’s night view from the Hotel window.The Room also had a classic, relaxing atmosphere, which was great.The air conditioning was too strong and it was cold, but the staff promptly brought a blanket to our Room.Thank you.

In Otaru City, Hokkaido, an Accommodation Tax will be introduced starting April 1, 2026.
The tax rate per person per night is as follows: JPY 300 for a base rate from JPY 0 to under JPY 20,000; JPY 400 for a base rate from JPY 20,000 to under JPY 50,000; and JPY 700 for a base rate of JPY 50,000 or more.
(In Hokkaido, an Accommodation Tax is also levied under local ordinances; Otaru City will collect the tax in a consolidated manner.)

The source is named “Otaru Canal no Yu.” The men’s bath overlooks the canal, while the women’s bath features an open-air bath. Known for its heat-retaining properties that help prevent chills after bathing, this spring quality is also said to promote collagen production and provide rejuvenating (anti-aging) benefits. Its signature comfort feels like being gently enveloped in warmth.
