Dinner features seasonal hospitality from Shiga Kogen. Our cuisine is defined by meticulous care and a deep commitment to quality ingredients. Shinshu beef, raised on Shinshu-grown apples, is exceptionally tender with a refined flavor. For rice, we source Koshihikari brown rice from a designated farmer in Nagaoka, Niigata, mill it in-house, and cook it with negative-ion water for an even more flavorful, fluffy texture. Breakfast is a wholesome Japanese set meal with a wide variety of dishes. Enjoy plenty of fresh vegetables and seasonal local ingredients. Rice is made with Koshihikari from Nagaoka, Niigata. [In winter, breakfast will be served buffet-style.]

Shiga Kogen’s oldest Onsen, Happo Onsen, with views of the Northern Alps

Hoppo Onsen is a rare steam Onsen, even in the whole country. It is the oldest hot spring in Shiga Kogen, created by passing Shiga’s natural water through steam rising from the bedrock. From the panoramic open-air bath, you can enjoy views of the Northern Alps. It’s an exceptional location where you can take in Shiga Kogen’s seasonal mountain scenery by day and a sky full of stars at night. Origin of the name “Hoppo” The unusual name “Hoppo” is said to come either from the sound of steam bursting out, or from how sweat pours out “hoppo-hoppo” after walking up the mountain path.
