A stay-style French restaurant nestled in the tranquil landscape of Awaji Island

Nestled in the lush nature of Awaji Island, "Auberge French no Mori" offers a serene retreat. This all-inclusive auberge, consisting of three villas, invites you to indulge in "gastronomy tourism," where you can savor ingredients nurtured by the local climate, along with traditions, history, and culture. Immerse yourself in the scents of seasonal flowers and herbs, the rustling leaves of trees, and birdsong as you experience a sensory journey. Enjoy health-conscious gourmet cuisine that delights your senses while spending a tranquil and extraordinary time.

  • Despite the continued hot weather, the herb garden was beautifully maintained and filled with many flowers and herbs. Both dinner and breakfast were carefully prepared dish by dish—beautifully presented and delicious. Truly worthy of an auberge. We also enjoyed the carefully selected furnishings in the Room and the tableware in the restaurant. Although you wouldn’t expect it from the exterior, the hinoki bath and ReFa shower were wonderful, allowing us to relax completely. Even with many young staff members, the hospitality was outstanding. The vegan cookies in the lounge were so good that I meant to buy some as a souvenir, but I forgot—what a shame. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us. We would love to visit again.

  • After moving from Yokohama to the Kansai area, we were looking for an Accommodation nearby that offers delicious French cuisine and allows for a relaxed one-night stay. In Yokohama, there were several great places in Hakone—about a 90-minute drive away—serving excellent French or Italian food, but for our anniversary we found and decided to try this place on Awaji Island through IKYU.For dinner, we enjoyed beautifully presented and delicious French dishes made with locally sourced seafood, meat, and vegetables from Awaji Island. As I’ve gotten older, the smell of Wagyu fat has become a bit heavy for me, so I asked if another meat could be substituted. They kindly changed it from Awaji beef to roasted lamb loin, which was excellent. From check-in onward we received pleasant service, and at dinner as well their thoughtful yet unobtrusive attention allowed us to enjoy the meal comfortably—we truly appreciated it. Breakfast was also a wonderful surprise: not a buffet, but served in a full-course style. The Hotel faces the road leading to “Ningen no Mori,” but it sits on a small hill; on the other side is forest. From our Room we could see the trees—it was quiet and very relaxing. The Room feels spacious thanks to its high ceiling despite its size. The property consists of three buildings with only a small number of Rooms in each one, so even though the lounge area is not large, it remained calm. We were able to enjoy wine at ease.Perfect for a short getaway. We also heard that venison is served in winter, so we would love to visit again during that season.

  • An indulgent autumn getaway with a limited-time special dinner and all-inclusive stay

Awaji Island has long been known as “Miketsukuni,” a land of food offerings.
With the arrival of autumn’s harvest, this is the season when the sea and land’s seasonal blessings add beautiful color to every table.
We offer a limited-time course that highlights autumn flavors—seasonal seafood, autumn mushrooms, chestnuts, figs, and more—finished over charcoal or wood fire to bring out each ingredient’s natural aroma and umami.
Enjoy an indulgent, soul-satisfying stay with the unique gastronomy of Awaji Island in autumn.

    ■Dinner■
    Grand Baobab (Italian × French)
At “Grand Baobab,” where French and Italian cuisines come together, we present a limited-time course featuring seasonal seafood, autumn mushrooms, chestnuts, figs, and other tastes unique to this time of year. Using charcoal and wood fire to draw out each ingredient’s true flavor and fragrance, we express the changing seasons in every dish.

For the main course, we use venison from Minami-Awaji, known for its moist tenderness. Grilled over a wood fire and paired with caramelized figs and the deep sweetness of Sicilian Marsala wine, it offers an unmistakably autumnal taste experience.
    *Dinner hours: last entry 17:30–19:00
