A small auberge, “Kawahatare,” overlooking the sea of Iki Island.

This building, once used as a “Senior Citizens’ Rest House,” has been renovated and reborn as a place to experience Iki Island’s food and scenery. The cuisine is crafted by an Iki-born chef with over 20 years of training in Tokyo and Fukuoka. Centered on seafood, vegetables, and fruit harvested within a radius of just 10 km, each dish expresses the island’s climate and character. Beyond the windows lies the Genkai Sea—calm on some days, crowned with whitecaps on others. In this place where stillness meets untamed nature, spend time on a journey across the sea. “Kawatare” refers to the moments before dawn, when outlines are still indistinct in the dim light. We hope your time here will remain as a memory slightly removed from everyday life.
