Enjoy a relaxing holiday while admiring the clear streams of the Oguni River in the Mogami region.

Surrounded by majestic mountains and nestled beside a clear stream, Yumemi no Yado Kanshokan offers a serene escape in nature. The charm of this beautiful area lies in its seasonal local ingredients and Onsen. Enjoy creative Japanese cuisine, thoughtfully crafted dish by dish by our head chef to bring out the natural flavors and rich aromas of each ingredient, along with an open-air bath featuring free-flowing natural hot spring water where you can savor the changing seasons. Its history runs deep, dating back to the Edo period. Seme Onsen, associated with Yoshitsune, became renowned for its high-quality hot springs and developed as a therapeutic hot-spring retreat. Kanshokan also has ties to the Imperial Family, including Her Imperial Highness the Crown Princess. With family, friends, or someone special—children are of course very welcome. Rediscover Japan’s timeless landscapes and enjoy the beauty of every season with all five senses.

  • Thank you for taking care of our family of four for one night and two days. One of us was delayed due to work and might not have made it in time for dinner. When we informed the staff, they kindly changed our dining Room and made various thoughtful arrangements so that even if we arrived late, we could relax without rushing. We were in a difficult situation, and I was truly moved by your deep hospitality. I asked for their name, but they said, “We all do this together...”To Mr./Ms. K-sawa and all the staff members at the dinner venue, thank you very much for everything.I was deeply impressed. We will come again.Thank you so much!!

  • I stayed at this Accommodation with my elderly mother. We were very satisfied with both the Onsen and the meals. The Shuttle Service driver, the front desk staff, and the room attendants were all kind and pleasant, so we had a very comfortable stay. My mother was happy as well.If I had to mention one drawback, it would be that the pillow didn’t suit me. Since you can choose your yukata, I would appreciate it if there were several types of pillows to choose from as well.Other than that, everything was great. Thank you very much.

Introduction of the Accommodation

Sample dish

The charm of Kanshokan lies in its highly acclaimed cuisine.

Our cuisine features mainly local and Yamagata-grown ingredients, allowing you to experience the four seasons of Yamagata. We incorporate seasonal produce by dividing it into “early season,” “peak season,” and “late season,” so you can enjoy the nuances within each season. In addition to local specialties, our menu is centered on Japanese cuisine while incorporating techniques and flavors from Japanese, Western, and Chinese cooking for a diverse selection of dishes. We also value the fundamentals of Japanese cuisine—“five tastes,” “five colors,” and “five cooking methods.” Free from fixed ideas, we blend creativity with tradition under the philosophy of learning from the past to create something new, striving to craft dishes that delight our guests.

Onsen

The free-flowing Onsen water in our large public bath and open-air bath warms you to the core. Its gentle mineral quality is said to be especially suitable for seniors and for recovery after illness. Beyond the rising steam, you can hear the soft murmur of the Oguni River... Leave the bustle of everyday life behind and relax at your leisure.

Semi Onsen, nestled along the clear stream of the scenic Mogami River, is said in legend to have been discovered by Yoshitsune and his party as they fled Yoritomo’s pursuers on their way to Hiraizumi. It began when Kita-no-Kata (his lawful wife, Gozen) went into labor, and Benkei found hot water for her first bath. In the Edo period, Semi Onsen flourished as a private retreat for the lord of the Tozawa Domain (present-day Shinjo City), and later gained renown for its high-quality hot springs, developing into a well-known therapeutic spa destination.
