    Overall, it was good.

    The Room has a bed right next to you the moment you enter. It feels like a Japanese-style room was somewhat forcibly renovated, so it comes across as mismatched. There is also a fairly high step up/down when going to the toilet or washbasin, which is inconvenient. However, since it’s an inexpensive Room, that may be expected. The view of the neighboring Accommodation “Nanpuso,” visible from almost anywhere, caught my attention and made me wonder what kind of place it is (lol). You can still see greenery beyond Nanpuso. The bath was great. My husband was recuperating after a fracture, and he said even one day made him feel much better. The day-use open-air bath seems popular, but I liked the spacious indoor bath in the Hotel’s large public bath. Dinner was luxurious and delicious, with items like domestic beef steak and crab gratin. Breakfast also included premium ingredients such as “Kagosei” kamaboko (fish cake). Guests ranged from individual travelers to tour groups, but no one had bad manners. Hearing natural “thank you” and “excuse me” in the elevator felt really pleasant. Service was neither particularly good nor bad—just average. That said, since we had paid in advance, when we returned the key at checkout, a male staff member who seemed very experienced received it with a friendly manner, which left a good impression.

    Enjoy the Onsen and buffet

    I was looking for a Ryokan with an Onsen in the Room, and I chose this one because it was more reasonably priced than others. The building feels historic, but for me that added to the charm and really suited an Onsen stay. The large public bath is spacious both indoors and outdoors, with a great sense of openness—very relaxing! In the Room, I could adjust the water temperature in the Onsen, and since I could hop in anytime, I enjoyed it again and again right up until check-out. Meals were buffet-style for both breakfast and dinner. There was an amazing variety of dishes, which made it exciting, and I was very satisfied!

    Absolutely satisfied!!

    This was my first visit with my elderly mother. The Accommodation itself has a charming, old-fashioned feel, but it is very well maintained and felt spotless and clean. This time we chose the “Miyabi” Room on the 12th floor, and it was truly an outstanding Room. I heard it was renovated in 2024, and the entire Room is completely barrier-free, which made my mother—who can sometimes trip even on small steps—very happy. The refrigerator had several kinds of complimentary drinks, and there were so many options for tea, black tea, and coffee that we couldn’t possibly finish them all—such wonderful hospitality. The lighting in the Room is soft, making it a calm and relaxing space. The vanity had double sinks and was very convenient to use. I was also surprised that all three hair tools—the dryer, curling iron, and rotating brush dryer—were ReFa. And to top it off, the shower head as well as the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were all ReFa too! The open-air bath in the Room was spacious enough for three people to soak comfortably, and it felt amazing!! As for the view: you can see another Accommodation in front of you and a road in the distance. However, there is a screen like shoji that blocks direct sightlines, so it wasn’t an issue at all. Although we were told we could adjust the water temperature, it felt a little lukewarm at times, which was disappointing. Also, since everything is so barrier-free otherwise, I thought having a handrail for getting into the tub would have been nice. For dinner we chose kaiseki served in a private dining room. Everything was delicious. It may have been a bit too much food for my mother, but it was just right for me. We also truly enjoyed the Japanese set breakfast. This Accommodation exceeded our expectations in every way—the Room(s), open-air bath(s), meals—but what impressed us most of all was the staff. Everyone in every section was pleasant and responded with great care and professionalism. My mother was delighted as well; I left completely satisfied too. We will definitely return!!

    Recommended Accommodation for Families with Children

    A highlight-filled Accommodation where you’ll want to stay two nights if possible! This Accommodation is located less than a 10-minute drive from Hakone-Yumoto Station. It’s a large property, and many guests arrived by car. The shuttle bus gets crowded, and it seemed a bit difficult to board with a stroller, so we took a taxi. We stayed with our 1-year-old in an 8th-floor Japanese-Western style Room with an open-air bath, and since the floor below was the banquet hall and dining area, we didn’t have to worry about footsteps above us and could relax comfortably. The in-Room open-air bath was amazing because we could use it anytime! There aren’t many Onsen that a one-year-old can enjoy, so we ended up using it again and again. There were also many families like ours, which made the buffet venue pleasantly lively. There was a kids’ corner at the buffet as well, but some of the fried items (like French fries) were a bit firm—so I thought it would be even better if they were softer.

    It was a lovely accommodation.

    The Room was kept very clean, with a good variety of amenities. The open-air bath in the Room was always at a comfortable temperature even in the cold, and very relaxing. The kaiseki Plan served in a private dining room was unhurried, and everything was delicious—we finished it all. This has become an Accommodation we’d like to return to. We’d like to stay in a 12th-floor Room again.

    Stay with us to celebrate your wedding anniversary!!

    We stayed here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Our group was 2 adults, 1 child (4 years old), and 1 infant (8 months old). Honestly, our whole family was extremely satisfied!! My wife was thrilled with the dinner and breakfast buffet—so many options, everything delicious, and she loved it all! The kids were also delighted to enjoy the Onsen (Yunosato Okada and the open-air bath in our Room, etc.). These days, many day-use Onsen facilities don’t even allow children who are still in diapers into the changing area, so we haven’t had many chances to enjoy an Onsen. But Hotel Okada is different! They provide baby baths and baby bath chairs, so you can bathe together!! (Note: children who are still in diapers are not allowed in the main bath.) Every service for children was perfect—they even had high-low chairs available in the dining area! All of the Hotel staff were very kind and courteous. The Facility is thoughtfully designed down to every detail. The hospitality was wonderful, and we had a very comfortable 2-day/1-night stay. (On our way out, our 4-year-old cried because they wanted to stay longer and go into the Onsen again!) Our whole family was truly satisfied! We’ve decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary here every year!!

    Enjoy your stay at the Hotel!

    We stayed with our children. Since they love buffets, we chose this Hotel, and dinner offered a wide variety of dishes—all delicious. The staff were very attentive, even recommending freshly fried tempura, which was excellent. The footbath had a great view, and the Room was spacious; everyone was very satisfied. The guidance that it would be cold to walk to the neighboring Yunozato in a yukata and that we should wear a coat was also very helpful. When we tried to book table tennis, we gave up because the available time overlapped with dinner; in hindsight, we should have made the Reservation first and then decided on our dining time. We also enjoyed the open-air bath in our Room and were able to use it whenever we liked.

    Enjoy the Onsen

    The Onsen in the open-air bath in our Room left our skin wonderfully moisturized! The Room was conveniently located for getting anywhere, and it was quiet with no noise from the neighboring Rooms or the hallway, so we were able to relax at ease. Throughout the Facility, there were lovely decorative objects, and we appreciated the thoughtful touches such as a baby bath, humidifier, and massage machine. We would love to come back again to enjoy the Onsen.

    We had a comfortable stay.

    The building is a bit old, but the Accommodation and Room were well cleaned and felt very clean. Since our Room was on the same floor as the bath, it was easy to get around, which was very helpful. Dinner offered a wide variety of options and was delicious, and the staff’s service was pleasant, so we had a comfortable stay. Considering the price, I think this is an Accommodation with excellent value for money. Thank you very much.

    I was able to relax.

    This was my first time staying here. At check-in, when choosing a colored yukata, there were sample yukata in various colors and sizes hung on hangers, so I could choose the one that suited me while looking in the mirror, which I really appreciated. The Onsen inside the building was very spacious, and I was happy to see a wide variety of shampoos. It was very relaxing. Also, at the renovated foot bath near the Onsen, I could enjoy a view of the mountains, and if it hadn’t been cold, I would have loved to sit there and do nothing for much longer. The Onsen outside the Hotel also had many different types of baths. In particular, the waterfall-style bath helped relieve stiffness in my shoulders. The massage chair I used after bathing also felt wonderful. There was a great variety of food and I enjoyed it. The sashimi was fresh and very delicious. However, perhaps because there were many guests that day, we ended up dining in the banquet hall next to the buffet venue, which felt a little disappointing. I would like to stay again if I have another opportunity. Thank you very much.

    The bath is satisfying.

    The baths are satisfying. "Yuno-Sato" offers a variety of baths, which is great. However, access requires going outside, so it can be cold in the middle of winter. The indoor bath within the hotel is spacious, and the outdoor bath is also relaxing. The footbath is nice as well. The building shows its age and feels outdated. It was a bit disappointing that the restroom in the hallway on the accommodation floor only had one traditional Japanese-style toilet. It was unfortunate that there was no humidifier in the room. As for meals, they were buffet-style and just average—not bad but not particularly delicious either.

    This was my second stay!

    I stayed in the Miyabi Room again this time! As expected, I am very satisfied with the facilities of this room!! It was my second stay, but it’s a room that makes me want to stay again!!

    Thank you for your continued support each year.

    We have been using the Room with a private open-air bath every year. The Room (cleanliness and amenities), the meals, and the bath, everything is satisfying. We are always amazed at how reasonable the price is! We definitely want to continue using it in the future.

    11th time?

    We first visited in February 2015 with my husband and daughter, and this is about our 11th stay. Even though my daughter is now married, we were happy to talk on the Romancecar about how fortunate we are to still visit together as a family of three. The reason we keep coming back as repeat guests is because the quality of the accommodation is excellent, and we are always satisfied in many aspects. Although the building has aged, the rooms have been beautifully maintained and updated, so there’s no sense of oldness at all. The private open-air baths in the rooms are always clean and very pleasant to use each time. The "Miyabi" room offers plenty of drinks and snacks, which we always look forward to enjoying. On the 12th floor near the elevator waiting area, you can hear soothing water sounds, while bonsai trees or flower arrangements at room entrances add a touch of hospitality that truly stands out. We look forward to seeing even more improvements in the future!

    This was our first v...

    This was our first visit, and every dish was absolutely delicious. The shrimp tempura at dinner was perfectly crispy and tender, and my daughter was thrilled with the canelé and muscat grapes, making it a truly satisfying experience. Before breakfast, soaking in the footbath with a stunning view of the mountains provided a wonderfully relaxing moment.

    A traditional Ryokan perfect for a weekend getaway.

    I often visit Onsen near the Kanto area once or twice a month, frequently going to Kusatsu, Kinugawa, Hakone, Atami, and Izu. At the end of the year, I stayed at Kamon, and this time it's Okada. I think this is a very good accommodation for a quick weekend getaway to relax in an Onsen. There’s nothing to complain about considering the price offered. *If I may suggest one thing: the blue corrugated metal-like exterior wall of Yunonosato lacks charm (it ruins the atmosphere), so it might be better to repaint it in dark brown or something similar.*

    Enjoyed a delightful Onsen and meal with my grandchild.

    Took the Romancecar with two grandchildren to Hakone. While waiting for the circular bus at the station, the Hotel bus luckily arrived just in time, which was very helpful. Check-in was smooth as the staff explained everything politely and promptly. We went to our Room by ourselves, which felt comfortable without any pressure. The bath, including the open-air bath, was spacious and refreshing with a pleasant breeze; we enjoyed relaxing and warming up. However, the open-air bath in the morning seemed a bit too hot for my grandchildren. The dinner buffet offered a wide variety of dishes to choose from, leaving us all full and satisfied. The ice cream corner was a favorite for my grandchildren! At breakfast the next day, I noticed that rice could be served automatically by machine with adjustable portions—very convenient and efficient! The staff were efficient yet kind; they cleared plates discreetly so we could enjoy our meal peacefully. Thank you very much! We would love to visit again!

    Only the meals could use some improvement.

    The facility is clean, and the service is generally good depending on the staff. The Onsen was very relaxing, making it a great accommodation. However, one issue... The food options lacked warmth. Items like fried eggs, omelets, meat, bacon, potatoes, and other grilled or fried dishes were mostly served cold. There is a corner with a chef grilling food, but since they prepare in advance and display them for self-service, the dishes are often cold by the time they are served. While this might be somewhat expected at a buffet-style restaurant, I believe having freshly cooked items like fried eggs or steak—even if it means waiting in line—would significantly enhance the hotel's quality. Some of the restaurant staff members (possibly international) seemed quite unfriendly; even when spoken to while wearing masks, they only nodded without responding verbally—giving off an impression of being upset. That said overall it’s still an excellent accommodation deserving 4 stars. I look forward to staying again!

    Spacious Public Bath

    Stayed for 2 nights with my 1.5-year-old child. I was pleased to find baby supplies well-prepared in both the large public bath and the restaurant. The facility is spacious with carpeted floors, allowing my toddler to walk around freely and safely. The alcohol at the restaurant was reasonably priced, so I could enjoy a relaxing drink.

    Only Wi-Fi...

    The service during arrival, check-in, and meals was all polite and easy to understand. Both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style, but the content was satisfying, with ample space provided to avoid the usual crowded feeling of buffets. The baths included one within the accommodation and another for day-use visitors. While day-use guests can access it, it is a bit far. You need to walk through an outdoor pathway which can be cold in winter with slopes and uneven surfaces in some areas. I advised my mother not to go at night due to the risk of slipping in the dark. As for the baths themselves, I am satisfied as long as there are large public baths and open-air options available—these were sufficient for me. The changing area was spacious and comfortable. The room itself was a standard Japanese-Western style room without any standout features; however, my only frustration with this accommodation was its unreliable Wi-Fi connection. It frequently disconnected, forcing me to repeatedly clear Wi-Fi settings on my device or switch entirely to mobile data midway through my stay. If this issue were resolved, it would have been perfect. Overall though, I had a very satisfying stay at this accommodation! When visiting Hakone again, I will definitely consider staying here as my first choice!

    It was excellent.

    We stayed here as an elderly couple with our son, his wife, and two grandchildren. The children said it was amazing. It was their first time at a Ryokan, and they were very happy, which made us feel blessed. The bath and meals were excellent. However, the bathroom in the Room was very dirty in the morning. There were many floating debris-like things in the water, so we just took a shower instead. Other than that, everything was perfect. Thank you very much! We are curious about what those floating things were.

    Unfortunately...

    The room was clean, and the bath and services were good, but the service did not feel polite or friendly. The private bath was fully booked when we tried to reserve it at check-in, possibly because it was December. We wanted to use it as a family, so it was disappointing. There are many other great hotels and ryokans in Hakone, so I think I will go back to the places I usually visit. Unfortunately, this stay had too many disappointments and was not a pleasant experience.

    A Different World Awaits on the 12th Floor

    Stayed in Room 1202 of the Miyabi category with children. The hotel itself remains unchanged from when I visited during a company trip years ago, maintaining its charm as a traditional Onsen accommodation. However, the 12th floor feels like an entirely different world. It seems to have been extensively renovated and offers a more refined space than many luxury Ryokans. The room is a spacious studio type with an open-air bath large enough for an adult to stretch out comfortably. A pleasant surprise was the complimentary drinks in the refrigerator. The bath area offers mountain views over the neighboring Nanpuso, though women might feel conscious about visibility despite adjustable shoji screens. At night, however, Nanpuso's illumination adds to the beauty of the view. There is a shower booth, but since it’s not fully enclosed and has an open ceiling, it can get quite cold during winter—a downside worth noting. What stood out was the sink area equipped with high-quality disposable towels instead of hand towels; they were so nice that I felt guilty using them and switched to using my bath towel halfway through! Other perks exclusive to top-floor guests included samue loungewear and colorful yukata robes—great touches! However, some systems were puzzling; for instance, you had to go down to reception for children's toothbrushes yourself. Also, although we were told someone would guide us to our room at check-in time, no one came after waiting for some time—so we ended up finding our way on our own. As for meals: both breakfast and dinner were excellent in quality and left us very satisfied overall! One thing worth mentioning is that smells from live kitchen stations could cling onto clothes (though upon request they kindly provided me with spare samue). While you can access adjacent day-use Onsen facilities as part of your stay here too—the chlorine smell there bothered me slightly—so most enjoyment came from relaxing within our private room bath instead. Standard rooms align well with IKYU.com's casual category expectations—but honestly speaking—the top floor feels worlds apart compared against other areas throughout this Hotel making it ideal especially if prioritizing private retreat-style stays over shared spaces elsewhere onsite!

    Family-Friendly Accommodation

    We used this accommodation for my husband's birthday trip! Since we have a one-year-old daughter, we reserved a room with an onsen. They kindly provided a humidifier and baby soap for free, which was very helpful! They also prepared rice and juice for our daughter, which was greatly appreciated. This is an accommodation where families with children can enjoy a highly satisfying trip!

    I stayed in the "Botan" room on the top floor. The staff who explained the facilities and guided us for meals were all calm and very pleasant. The large public bath was spacious, and the water temperature was just right. For meals, we chose a buffet for both breakfast and dinner. While I thought the steamed egg custard could have had a bit more dashi flavor, there was a wide variety of dishes at both buffets, which left us very satisfied. Considering today's times, having a large open-air bath attached to the room at this price seems like an exceptional deal. Regarding the beanbag cushion, my son later mentioned that it made a "pop" sound when he sat on it—our apologies for that. As for amenities, I thought it would be nice to have cotton pads available in both the room and public bath area; however, skincare products in the room were from MIKIMOTO, while items like hair dryers and showerheads were all from RIFA. Overall, amenities were well-prepared with drinks such as beer, water, green tea, orange juice provided per person in the room along with one bottle of sparkling wine placed in the refrigerator by our private open-air bath. Overall, I felt this accommodation offered great value beyond its price point. I would definitely love to stay here again!

    Travel-loving couple's getaway

    My spouse and I love traveling and go on trips once a month. This time, we stayed at Hakone Okada Hotel. We reserved the Botan Room, which was excellent, especially the open-air bath. However, we were slightly disappointed with the meals. We had the kaiseki course and were looking forward to it but felt it fell short of expectations. If given another chance, we might consider visiting again.

    It was a very pleasant accommodation.

    We used this accommodation for a three-generation trip, including a 2-year-old child. Although we reserved rooms of different ranks, they arranged them to be close to each other, making it very convenient to move around. The private open-air bath in the room was perfect in terms of temperature adjustment and amenities. The meals were also thoughtfully prepared, with the child's portion served immediately upon seating, which was greatly appreciated. One minor disappointment was that when we arrived at 3 PM for check-in and drove into the premises, there was some delay in being guided to the parking lot. It would be great if this process could be smoother in the future. Overall, it was an excellent accommodation where we had a wonderful stay. Thank you very much!

    Sincere Accommodation

    Stayed with my daughter who has a disability, and we were treated sincerely. The high step to the toilet was challenging, which was unfortunate. A handrail would have been appreciated. An air purifier would also be nice. Apologies for leaving the electric kettle on—I should have turned it off! The front desk staff spoke fluent Japanese and were very clear in their explanations. Thank you for taking care of us!
